Shelpey was not always home to two separate groups of Shifters. Many years back in fact, it is questionable if many Shifters ever lived in Shelpey at all. However, the city had a strange 'pulling' effect, drawing in Shifters from near and far, as if it called out to them. Eventually the shifters grew aware of one another and came together, forming the first "gang" in the city- a small group with no chain of command, nor any particular goal. However, as time went on and as the group grew larger, it became apparent that not all Shifters felt the same about the society they lived in. Some of the Shifters began pushing for a leader to lead them and help create their own proper society. Other Shifters disagreed and said that they could live alongside the humans without trouble, as they had been doing.
Arguments erupted, pitting Shifter against Shifter in a battle of words. Eventually, two sides formed: the Shifters who wanted to live together with the humans and keep their society a secret one, and the Shifters who felt they deserved to be a real society that didn't have to hide in the shadows and was as open and free as the humans were.
Neither side could agree, and after many arguments, the first group of Shifters split into two. Thus formed the two gangs of Shelpey Alley - both of whom already had a strong distaste for the opposing group. Tensions continue to rise between the Assassins and the Thieves and both gangs continue to recruit Shifters to join their side. During a time when humans are starting to become suspicious, putting extra pressure on the guilds, it's inevitable that tempers will flare and the patience of the gang members will snap.

Alex: Awaken, the final post that brings closure to Shelpey Alley. Thank you all for such a wonderful run: we've grown to be something of a family and these friendships we made will never fade. I wish everyone the best of luck wherever life may take them, and urge you not to forget about the community we shared. Stop back every now and then and keep in touch. <3 I love you guys.

Chatango's website is down and thus, our cbox is not loading. In the meantime our old cbox will be put up in place so that we can continue to talk until chatango starts working again.Fixed.

Ripway.com, the site that we use to host our remote Javascript files, appears to be down for whatever reason. This means that SA is running on only some of its scripts and isn't showing up correctly. None of the codes that are affected have any function besides purely aesthetic ones (colored text boxes, rounded edges, certain styled usernames, etc), so you can continue posting and talking without it being affected. Hopefully Ripway will be back up soon so that Shelpey looks like it should.

The site's layout has been changed a bit based on what we decided during the site-wide meeting a while ago. Due to popular request, the chat box has been returned to its original home on the global side tables. The news has been split into two tables, for IC roleplay news and OOC site news. The statistics and links have been moved to the main table as well.

A big update today, with several threads for you guys to check out. First and foremost, I would like you all to read our Roleplay Activity thread. We have some new rules regarding activity in roleplays and it's rather imperative that you read up on them.
After this however, we have two plot related threads for you to read! The first is the Plots Discussion thread where you can discuss the official plots we have planned, organise who might be playing what NPC and generally get a brief view of each plot. We then have the first official plot, Smooth Criminals posted up. This will be where the official roleplay begins after enough people have joined and contains more information on the plot itself. Get reading folks, and we hope you enjoy the first of several plots!

The activity check is over and our plots poll is closed! Thanks to all our members who got back to let us know of their existence and voted to help steer Shelpey's main plot into action. For the results of the poll and some other news with regards to the next week or two, please check THIS THREAD.
Once again, happy new year to all of you, and let's hope that school/work is settling down now it's had a chance to leap up from the ashes and torture you with papers, essays and homework. (Wishful thinking? Maybe.)

It's 2011! Happy belated New Years guys! I hope everyone's doing well and getting back into school and such. I hope everyone had a good Christmas too! As most have noticed, I'm sure, Alex does not have access to a laptop. On top of that, his family's computer got a virus, thus he has no Internet access whatsoever. On this note, while he's gone, SA has... well, gone almost downhill. However, staff will be working hard to pick SA back up on its feet.
In order to do this, there is an ACTIVITY CHECK. YOU MUST POST HERE before SATURDAY, JANUARY 15TH. Boards will be COMPLETELY cleaned out and you'll see various aspects of the site being updated and cleaned out to make SA look brand new. Lastly, let's all welcome back Lore to the staff team! She has some great ideas for SA, so let's all cross our fingers! Welcome back, members!

NEW PLOT: The (S)hifter Factor. The festival going on at the beach is attracting many shifters. Characters are gathering for a fun party with friends, and to compete in the talent show.
[February 13, 2011]
The Rebels, the human gang that's new to the city of Shelpey Alley, has already established itself in a warehouse in the downtown district. Shady activity has drawn Shifters to the area to see what's going on, but unfortunately one of them has been caught by the Rebels.
[February 05, 2011]
NEW PLOT: Smooth Criminals. Set in the Downtown District at about 5:00 PM, this is the first appearance of the new human gang, the Rebels. They're trafficking weapons and drugs from the warehouse to their new city HQ.
Character Logs (1 sub-board) If you have too many characters and can't keep track of them all, feel free to gather them in one thread here. Sub-board: Plotting
Subway Tunnel A utility alcove in the yellow line subway tunnels. Accessible by the subway itself, or by a loose ventilation grate that lets out into a back alley in the downtown district. The dark space is furnished with wooden crates and boxes to sit on, and littered with trash.

Fairgrounds Only open during the summer, the small city carnival ground is filled with food and game stands, platform rides, and arcades. During the rest of the year, a city security guard will occasionally come to check the grounds for any unauthorized activity.
Warehouse A big, rarely used building. Boxes upon shelves of boxes and equipment are stored here year-round. A back door opens up on to a back delivery road.
Empty Prison Though it is no longer used to hold prisoners, the eeriness of the building still hangs heavy in its unlit hallways. Some of the cells are still closed, and others hang ajar. It hasn't been used in at least forty years.

Assassins Gang
Drainage Sewer The maze-like underground water drainage system for the city that eventually opens out into the harbor. A wide sidewalk square is accessible by a manhole in a back alley. Other manholes let into the sewer in other places.

Junkyard Towers of trash from recycled scraps to old cars to busted appliances. A tall chain-link fence topped with barbed wire runs the perimeter, but there's a small hole toward the back that can be used for getting in.

Old Bar An abandoned bar and night club on a city side street. Inside are tables and chairs, a small stage, a bar, and a few back rooms. The front windows and door have been boarded up, but a back door has been picked open for easy entry.
Cemetery Owned in part by the church, and in part by the city's government, the cemetery has two very distinct areas. The section closest to the front, near the church, is tidy and well kept, with white headstones that are engraved with elegant scriptures. The rest of the acres, however, are much more run-down and shabby than should be to honor the deceased.
School The high school for all students in Shelpey Alley. Classes are 45 minutes long, and there are 8 periods a day. The first bell rings at 9:00, and school lets out at 3:45.

Town Center The town center holds most of the community's attractions. A large mall hosts a movie theater, shops, and plenty of fun. Opposite the shopping mall is the town square, a few small restaurants, post office, and community center.

Coffee Shop This small little café is the idea spot for a morning coffee or a lunchtime snack. It has a warm and friendly atmosphere, and live music is often playing. A variety of things are offered on the menu.
Harbor The waterfront is lined with docks, wharfs, boats, and a few shops. The harbor lies further down the bay than the beach. This part of the boardwalk doesn't contain the shops that the beach has, but you can get to them if you feel like walking about ten blocks.
Beach (2 sub-boards) The beach is a wide strip of sandy shore, backed by the boardwalk and its host of shops. Lots of people can be found hanging out here, and it's actually a quite popular place to be, even out-of-season. Sub-boards: Lighthouse, Boardwalk
Residential District The neighborhood of the city: most of Shelpey Alley's residents live in this area. The housing here ranges from small apartments to large and spacey houses. A select few even have beachfront property.
Downtown Disctict Filled with office buildings, hotels, nice restaurants, the subway system, museums, and guided tours, the downtown district of Shelpey is where most of the residents work and where tourists visit.
Farm Run by an old, grouchy farmer, the farm takes up a lot of acres, and produces plenty of different crops that are sold for a good profit. Chickens, cows, pigs, and sheep are only a few of the animals that are raised here. The farm's collie is a friendly girl and likes to unknowingly chat with the Shifters.

Lake A beautiful fresh-water lake that lies outside the reaches of the city's air pollution. It's about twenty minutes away from the city, and offers a relaxing escape from the rush of the day.

Park Reserve The Park is a city-owned reserve dedicated to protecting the wildlife that remain in the urban sprawl. A small visitor's area lies out front, complete with picnic spots and small playgrounds. The woods themselves are fenced off and kept off-limits to the public, but there are a few paths that lead to the lake.
