[atrb=border,0,true][atrb=cellSpacing,0,true][atrb=cellPadding,0,true][atrb=width,400,true] | [atrb=background,http://i566.photobucket.com/albums/ss101/felinemonstrosities/mid.jpg] That morning Miep woke up to a rather gray, nippy Autumn day. The season was finally rolling around, which she was glad, for the colder weather was her time to play during the night.
Her normal routine was to sleep until 11.30 or so, ditz around her small but cozy apartment until it started to get dark, or maybe she'd go find something to do around town for a little while. Either way, she wound up around the streets by nightfall, prancing around the rooftops of the city silently and slinking around in the shadows. The only way anyone ever knew she was there is if another shifter was out and caught her scent. She had had her share of midnight brawls under full and no moonlight alike, but she prefered to keep out the way of other shifters itching for violence. particularly loners. They were the worst when it came to nocturnal roamers, always ready to strike down whomever they met, just because. But she was a sleek panther, the night was her home. Sunny afternoons weren't always her favorite.
But this morning, she had woken around 9.00 and couldn't fall back asleep, no matter how many times she flipped her pillow or turned to face the wall instead of her night stand. She lifted the corner of the battered window shade next to her bed to assess the weather and much to her pleasure, it was gray and dank outside. Her favorite, other than snow.
She lifted herself out of bed and proceeded with her usual morning ritual: eat, dress, and do whatnot in the bathroom. She was up and out in her favorite black sweater and gray stretch pants. She decided to get a little fancy and busted out her old, shiny black pumps. Miep never really tried her best to dress up but she was in a relatively good mood this morning. She grabbed her phone and some money and was out the door.
As she exited and locked the door behind her, plans about where to go formed in her mind. It was early for her, she was never up at this time. What was going on around town? Probably nothing. She shrugged and decided, what better to do on a cold, gray morning in (almost) October than to visit the cemetary.
Halloween was her favorite holiday, October her favorite month of the year. She liked creepy things, especially vampires (and not stupid, tuty fruity ones like edward cullen...), and cemetaries just fascinated her. Walking through the old cemetary in Shelpey just made her day, especially with the weather as it was. The perfect day for her.
Miep soon found that her pumps weren't all that uncomfortable, but very broken in and easy to walk in. She was bright and alert as she jay-walked an intersection to the gates of the old cemetary. She always started in the neater section of the cemetary, looking at the new names and polished, gleaming, bland head stones. The only thing that fascinated her about this part of the cemetary was the new names and the dates and messages written on them, trying to puzzle out what their life might have been like. But soon, she became bored and moved on to the older, shabbier, and ultimately creepier part of the cemetary, drifting slowly between the battered headstones and squinting to try to make out some names. These headstones were old and worn, varying in their design more so than the new section and were so much more interesting to look at.
As she walked through, she wondered silently if she was alone in the vast field of grave stones.
