Hordes of people streamed down the sidewalk. There were people of all shapes and sizes. Blonde, brunette, black haired people walked side by side. Hispanic, black, white, asian, they too, gave each other nary(LOL Nary..Gotta love that!) a glance. There were a couple of red heads as well, but one in particular drew attention. It wasn't just her fiery, red-orange hair that pulled eyes in her direction, it was the way she stood, and the way she walked.
Slender hands clutched tightly to a smaller purse. Red-orange head was bowed as she hurried along as fast as she could. Soft amber eyes focused on the ground, and not where she was going. The way she walked showed a huge amount of shyness, which just seemed to yank your attention right to her. She was humiliated to be in this form, but there was nothing she could do about it. She needed to get something to eat, and it definitely wasn't going to be rats.
The slender girl grimaced at the thought of rats. The ones in the alleys were tiny and all skin and bones. The ones in the sewers were plump, but extremely fiesty. Besides, when she did manage to kill one, it was hard to keep her mind off of what they ate. Her stomach growled, causing the slender girl to speed up from a speed walk, to a fast jog, almost a run. She shoved past several people, not pausing for a breath or to apologize. She concentrated only on getting to a place where she could get food.
She suddenly slammed into something rather solid. Feeling herself slip to the ground, she tried desperately to break her fall. She landed with a dull 'thunk' on her behind, and she groaned. Rubbing her head, she glanced around, noticing that she had fallen in front of some sort of resturant. Glancing up at the thing she had run into, she realized it was a boy, and she felt her face flush with embarrassment.

It's a sunny day in late-summer: children are playing amongst many others like themselves, yelling and screaming, laughing and shouting. It's a beautiful day to be at the park. Most of the adults are off strolling through the gardens, or sitting by the pond while their children are playing on the playground. It's like a secret club to them: only youngsters are gathered there, all speaking the same little kid language. Boys and girls alike share the equipment, most of them playing in turns. The swings are all full, and there is a line at the slide. The entire lot is busy with bouncing children. It's a happy sight.
Amidst the tens there are two: a dark haired boy and a red haired girl, both sharing the seesaw. Up and down and up and down and up and down...the same elated grin is stretched across their faces, their eyes locked in a gaze that shares the same thought of fun. Afterall, it isn't EVERYDAY that they get to play on the playground. Their parents only bring them here on the weekends. They're enjoying it as much as they could-
The dark haired boy shook his head to clear the flashback. He couldn't keep doing that! The last time he had a memory surge, he had ended up in the river after not watching where he was going. He checked around him to make sure no one was staring awkwardly at him. No one was.
Good. That means I didn't run anybody over, or crash in-"Oof!"
His attention wheeled back around to focus in front of him, just as a girl fell to the ground. ...Dammit.
He rushed to hold out his arm to pull her to her feet. "I'm so sorry! I wasn't watching where I was going, and I should've, and-oh man, I'm sorry, are you-" as she girl looked up he got a clear look at her face and nearly tripped over his own words. The same shock of red hair, the same golden amber eyes...a brief image of two kids playing on the seesaw flashed into his mind...red hair, sparkling eyes.... "...okay?"

The slender girl shyly took his hand and pulled herself up. She immediately dropped her eyes to the ground, and mumbled,
"I'm sorry, it was my fault."
She reached to brush off her jeans with one hand. The other hand tightly clutched her small blue purse. It had the only money she owned in it. It was stolen money, but hey, it was these humans who stole her animal form. She had the right to steal something back, right?
She nervously ran her fingers through her hair and winced as she touched a swelling lump on the top of her head. What? Did he have bricks for abs or something? Suddenly, without meaning it, the words slipped out, and a coy look crossed over her dark honey eyes. Then as quickly as it had appeared, the coy look disappeared, leaving a very embarrassed face behind.
She suddenly realized that he had been tripping over his words, and she gazed into his face. Something about his eyes triggered a memory, but she quickly shunned it. For right now, she had lost her brother, and didn't plan to think about him. He would never find her. He knew how much she despised humans, and he also knew she would never approach a human area. She gave a short, dry, humorless laugh. If only he knew she was a human now.
She flushed again. She obviously wasn't making any sense. One minute shy, the next flirtatious, and then random.
"I'd better go."
She said as she tried to brush past him.
OhOhSea://
He's free to stop her and pull her over to a booth in the cafe... lawl...He can use the excuse of her hitting her head...or whatever ^^ lawl

Rocks....for abs....?
Rune nonchalantly looked down at his front: he didn't exactly work out, but he did get a lot of exercise in his canine form. It didn't show in his human form, did it? His eyes were confused, but held a small spark of amusement. Well, thanks for the...compliment?
He tilted his head as she rushed through a breeze of moods and ended up hurrying on past him with a brief explanation. He turned to watch her leave. Wow, such a quick encounter, but somehow he felt like he knew her. Something about her seemed familiar, anyway. She reminded him of someone, but he couldn't place who. But whether that was his real motivation for his next act, or the excuse he gave, he didn't even know.
"Hey, wait up!' He called, dashing a few steps after her and hesitantly placing a hand on her shoulder. "I don't feel like I apologized enough for having bumped into you. I mean, I know you said it's your fault, but I- well, you still seem a bit out of it, maybe- ... can I treat you to lunch?" The boy offered an embarrassed grin, one hand seeking out the back of his head and running through his mess of hair.

Destiny hesitated, definitely tempted. She could feel her normal, flirty personality come through as she looked him up and down. He was rather cute, and he had a good body too...She cut those thoughts off. She wasn't even interested in guys for the moment. Or so she kept telling herself. She turned to go, with an excuse on her lips until he mentioned lunch. Her stomach growled shamelessly, and she slowly nodded.
"Okay, I have time for lunch."
She said softly. Seeing him unconciously reach to pull his fingers through his hair, she wondered what it felt like? Was it silky or coarse? Clean or- She cut her thoughts off again. She had to stop doing that! She searched for something to make her concentrate. His name. What was his name? Afterall, names were very important. Names told you who you were, what you were. It was very important to have a names. Dest had to stop herself again. Looking up into his face, she softly spoke, letting her lyrics flow out smoothly.
"What's your name? I'm...I'm Destiny."
She ended slightly hesitant.

Rune's features lit up as she accepted his awkward invitation to lunch. There. Now maybe I can learn more about her. She definitely reminds me of someone, and I won't be able to let it go until I find out why. It'll just be lunch. Not that hard to handle. ... I have enough money, right? Absently, he cursed humans' way of making everyone pay for things that were necessary to live. His hand slid down from his hair and he shoved his hands into his pockets, looking totally calm, but fingering the folded bills. Multitasking, he counted how many he had, taking guesses as to their value. Yup, that'll do it.
He caught her eying him and flushed, slightly uncomfortable at the sudden attention he was drawing. Okay....I'm not used to this. In my normal form it'd be SO much easier. I guess it's normal for humans. And let her think what she wants about me, this is probably going to be the only time I'll ever meet her.
"Destiny?" His eyes grew wide and he felt himself take a sharp breath. Destiny? He knew that name! Odds were it wasn't the same one he knew, but she, too, had the same features as the girl that stood before him. He wondered: could it be her? Maybe that's why she reminds me of someone...he realized he was gawking and let out a startled sound, pulling himself together again. "T-that's a very pretty name. It's unique, too. I'm Rune,"
Biting his lip to keep his mouth from hanging open, he took a step back, towards the small coffee shop that stood on the corner.

Noticing the light that seemed to shine from Rune, she felt a warm glow start inside of her. Was she adorable in human form as well? Or was it something else? Well, in any case, she had made this fellow happy, and it made her feel slightly better about being human. Noticing the red coloring that filled his face, she smirked slightly. Not many guys were used to her scrutiny, and it amused her that she could make even this guy, with the big muscles, self-conscious.
She felt suddenly awkward as he repeated her name. Perhaps she should have chosen a more human name, maybe Sarah, or Amanda. Her name seemed to be fairly unusual in the human realm, and it made her uncomfortable for people to be like, "Wow that's an unusual name!". She giggled a bit at his hanging jaw. Was her name really that strange? But no, it seemed that he recognized it, maybe a past friend? "T-that's a very pretty name. It's unique, too." She barely kept herself from sighing. There it was. The 'unusual name.' But, somehow, the way he said it made her feel special to have the name, not totally weird.
"I'm Rune." Destiny felt her heart lurch. THIS was Rune? Rune was an even more unique name then Destiny, she had never heard of another human having it. She felt herself kinda cave in. If this really was the Rune she was thinking of, he couldn't know it was her. She was so different from when they were kids. Well, not really different, just, so much had happened to her. She remembered how happy she had been playing with him, years ago. She even remembered the childish crush she had had. But then he had disappeared and many things had happened. Like Morocco. She couldn't let anyone else into her heart after what had happened with him. Afterall, it was his fault she ever met a human!
She grew quiet as she followed him to a small table, a table for two. Her eyes grew pensive, and the sparkle in them was greatly diminished. Then she spoke quietly, again showing that shy, reserved side of her.
"Rune, huh? That's even more unique then Destiny."
'I don't think I've ever met anyone with that name.' She almost said, but bit the words back. It was better if she said nothing.

The boy gave her another smile, this time less awkward. Turning, he opened the cafe's door and a bell rang as he stepped inside, letting it close behind the girl. He led them to a small table for two toward the back of the room, settling himself in a chair. Absently, he noted that he was sitting cross legged on the chair, and shifted his position so that he was sitting more normally. Might as well keep a good impression.
"I don't really have an opinion on my name. I'm just...used to it, and the reactions it gets me." He failed to mention that no one ever commented on his name: she might have been the first one in a long time to do so. It was common among canine outcasts to have strange callings. But her noticing it made him feel a bit special. But why?
"So, again, sorry for bumping into you. So don't be hesitant: you can order anything you like," he offered as a way to strike up a conversation. Her sudden change to a very shy girl was a bit surprising. Just a few moments ago she had been extremely outgoing and flirty. Why was she acting so different now? He studied her carefully through a fringe of brown hair. Maybe one of those personalities was the real her. But...which one?
"I don't think I've seen you around before. Are you new to Shelpey Alley, or have we just never met?"
Something inside of him screamed that they HAD indeed met, but as soon as he turned to find it, he drew up blank.

When Rune held the door open for Destiny, her eyes flickered up and held his. Since when had he become such a gentleman? A slight smile curved her lips, and a light blush highlighted her cheeks. The younger Rune had been rather rambunctious, but Destiny supposed all kids were like that. She strode gracefully through the door and sat, feeling more and more like the true her, the flirty, fun, and sometimes stupid, her.
"So it doesn't bother you when people seemed shocked at your name? I wish I could be used to it as well."
Destiny leaned forwards on her chair, her elbows on the table, and her tiny hands propping up her chin. She was pretty sure this was the Rune from her childhood, but she supposed this could be another.
"So, again, sorry for bumping into you. So don't be hesitant: you can order anything you like." Destiny waved one hand dismissively,
"Really, it was nothing. I've taken much harder knocks than that."
A waiter wandered up and left a menu on the table. Mostly beverages covered it, but there were a few things such as brownies, coffee cakes, shortcake, small sandwiches, and others like that offered. Destiny checked the list of beverages and decided to steer clear of the coffee. She really disliked the bitter taste, it reminded her of herbs. Some of the listings for drinks were hot chocolate, coffee, pop, and smoothies. But what drew her the most was the lemonade. There were all sorts. Strawberry, lemon, peach, mango, grape. She decided upon having mango. She liked the sweet and sour taste of lemonade - in peach form.
She glanced up from the menu to catch Rune staring at her. She blushed slightly, and she was pulled in two different directions. She wanted to make a comment to make the young man blush, but at the same time, she was willing to simply let it go. She finally decided on the latter, realizing that he would be embarrassed enough to be caught staring.
"I don't think I've seen you around before. Are you new to Shelpey Alley, or have we just never met?" The slender girl paused for a minute, trying to figure out how to word her answer without divulging any of her past.
"I've just wandered in recently. I don't like to stay in one place very long. I guess I'm just a wild spirit roaming free."
She said, a crooked smile on her face. She didn't add that one of the reasons she moved around alot was to avoid her brother, and the other was to keep out of the way of the police. Stealing so often did have it's price. She'd almost gotten caught once, by the number on the bills she used, but she made up a story about finding it on the street. They eventually let her go. If her story hadn't worked, she probably would've made it out using her fox form.

Feel free to add any drinks or foods...I tried to think of alot, but if I missed something, go ahead and mention it ^^ -giggles- I'm liking the length of this post ^^

"Thanks," Rune said as the waiter delivered menus to their table. The boy picked his up and studied it intently, trying to give himself time to think. He was sure he knew her: he was growing more and more sure of it by the minute. But who was she, and why did he seem to know her? Was she a friend of his, a long time ago? Surely he couldn't have forgotten someone so striking. Maybe he'd suffered a concussion and forgotten his past up until that point. He mentally laughed at himself. Yeah right.
"A spirit roaming free, huh? Sounds like the kind of life I lead...."
But...hadn't someone once told him about a human life? Sometime before his life in Arizona? But that couldn't have been true: he was born a dog, and had developed his shapeshifting powers later on. So he COULDN'T have known her: he could remember his life perfectly fine from Arizona on.
Although another point stuck out at him: when he was adopted into the gang...he wasn't a newborn. Shock drained his face and it grew pale, his gaze staring but not seeing at the menu. He COULDN'T have been a newborn, because he wouldn't have survived without his mother's milk! And no other dog there was willing to feed him...He must have been a least a year old for that to have been possible!
Another flashback hit him, a cold and snowy day in late winter. Two canines are rolling in the frigid powder, yapping in delight. A pair of chocolate orbs meet with beautiful amber ones for a split second, and a thought is shared, before one of them breaks away and kicks up the snow.
The swirling white snow fades into a brilliant white, then dimmed to show a scene. A playground, very busy. Two children are playing on the seesaw, not noticing the many others around them. Their eyes meet: a stunning brilliant gaze locks with a darker one...
The menu fell to the table with a clatter. His expression was of confusion and shock, and slowly he raised his eyes to meet the same amber ones he had known all his life.
"D-Destiny?" He whispered, astonished.
OOC|| Yay, drama! XD I BS'd his whole history to kind of make sense. Once we get through all this I'll change his history to match up.
