The coffee shop was so, dull. Nothing typically happened inside that made Phoenix excited or happy to be manning the counter. There were people who came into the shop on a regular basis but it wasn't any more exciting to see them than the new faces. Perhaps he should take up a new job, but he liked his job, he'd rather that then something in customer service. Brown eyes glanced around the little store. Half of it was the kitchen and the other was the sitting area neatly arranged with books and chairs for sitting and whatnot. Sometimes Phoenix might dare to turn on music not approved by the manager, but he was left in the store alone more often than anyone else.
The shorter brunette had found himself pondering deep thoughts recently, like how he was to even figure out who else was a shifter? Go around talking to birds or cats and dogs? He'd probably be thrown in a pshyco ward.
Sighing as his eyes drifted over to an old lady in the corner, she always came in and had a small coffee while she jacked their wifi and let the coffee get cold. Phoenix thought this was more funny than anything. Of course there was also a couple who gave fleeting glances, they were kind of that hopeless romantic story in the movies, it was sweet in a slow dragmydeadbodythroughthedesert way. A hand started to tap the counter, the coffee shop music starting to make him itch. Breaking out an ipod he put on ear in under his apron and shirt so it was less obvious. Something more along the lines of Lady Gaga kept him calm. He mouthed the words to Paparazzi as he went back to observing the people occupying the shop on such a solemn Sunday. Licking his bottom lip Phoenix spotted the middle aged woman who was a fairly new regular, she was having an affair. He could tell just from her demeanor and how she held her coffee and looked at the apartment across the street before getting up and walking over, guilt written all over her face.
People watching was in fact fun for Phoenix. He was a good observationist, tilting his head now and then like his bird form. He was very close in actions when it came to this sort of stuff. Only singing for those who asked, other wise still. As of the moment he cocked his head wondering if he would be a coffee guy for the rest of his life, or if he would find something to be ambitious about. A someone to love, a something to reach for, maybe a higher meaning for his life? He was an easy target for someone looking to take advantage of someone who wanted to belong. Not so much because Phoenix was mindless but he wanted to be apart of something big. It sounded much better than "Phoenix the Coffee Guy". On other days he might have let the thought just float by, but now his brain was munching on it.

So bored... Maybe I can go hunt a bird... Thoughts of how to spend her day off went through Addy's mind, but none of them were any good. After all, pigeons weren't exactly fun to chase; those fat smelly birds. But for now she just walked by in her human form, groggy from lack of sleep. That's when the idea hit her like a brick wall; Caffeine! Ironically enough, Addy was standing right outside of a coffee shop. Sometimes life just felt like being nice.
Walking inside, she nearly smiled at the smell of coffee beans and cream. Despite her lack of eating, Addy loved coffee. After making a bee-line for the counter, she looked at Phoenix, wondering if it'd be rude to interrupt his song... It was a good song. Not rock, as she liked, but still good.
Quietly clearing her throat, Adeline gave him a sheepish grin. "Hello," she said quietly. "Mind if I cut in to order something?"

Raising a brow as a girl walked in. The little bell chirped in response to the door and he put on a good service smile. "Sure, this is a coffee place." He said sighing as a hand idly tapped the counter. "Anything specific?" He asked glancing back once at the menu himself. He would never say it to this girl's face but their prices were rivaling starbucks, in fact he didn't even drink much coffee because of it. The brunette smiled at his customer though.
He analyzed her. He felt kind of... well awkward. He was one to talk, though she did have a bit of an air about her, he couldn't quite put his finger on it. Her droopy eyelids, and dark red hair gave Phoenix the sense she was one of those people who kinda brought you down, but her sheepish demeanor had brought that down a notch. He cocked his head tot he side slightly, just a behavioral trait to do when he was confused. She confused him, her eye makeup and her whole fasad was just unlike Phoenix.

Looking at the menu for a minute, she sighed and said "I'll just have some coffee black." Looking over the guy's face, she smiled a little. "Long day at work?" she asked politely. If it were Addy working behind that desk, she would be fidgeting like none other. The only time she could sit still was while reading, and even then, she took frequent breaks.
Looking at his iPod, her look became puzzled. "Are you allowed to listen to that during work?" she asked. It wasn't accusing, but more curious. Adeline had only one job in sophomore year, which was at and ice cream shop, and they never got any breaks. True, coffee and ice cream had a big difference, but it was still food that took preparation.
Then again... Looking around the cafe, it didn't look like there were many customers for him to serve. Maybe if she was lucky, Adeline could just stay at the counter and talk to him. True, she wasn't exactly a social butterfly, but talking to somebody was better, and less pathetic looking, than drinking coffee alone.
"Oh, and very nice choice of song," she said with a smile.
