OOC|| Guild boundaries are typically ignored while at school, but they're followed when you're talking about sensitive subjects.

"Crap!"
The teen's surprised exclamation was echoed by more than half the math class. The teacher just shrugged his shoulders and grinned.
"Sorry that none of you seemed to remember that we had a test today, but that won't keep you from taking it. You have fifteen minutes to study in class, so I'd suggest you use your time wisely."
The class groaned in unison, frustrated. The nerd in the front of the class raised his hand uniformly, pushing square, thick-rimmed glasses up the bridge of his nose with his finger. "Teacher! I have a question on this chapter question, here,"
Alex slumped in his chair, a few rows back. Why hadn't he remembered that he had a test today? He could've sworn that he'd written it down! ...Somewhere. Maybe that was the problem? Yeah...probably. Where had he made a note of it, anyway? He glanced down at his messenger bag, thinking about the agenda that he used to write down assignments. No...
Oh, nevermind. He rolled his eyes with an exasperated sigh as he saw the scrawled writing on his left hand. Math test tomorrow!
Damn.
The boy leaned down and picked up his bag by the handle, setting it on the table and digging through the unorganized papers for his math book. He pulled it out, trying to hold back the excess papers that came with it, and set the weight down on his desk.
Okay...chapters 3-6...
I can do this. I've got plenty of time, he thought, opening the book to the third chapter. Just keep focused...
His eyes scanned over the page, and he grew increasingly stressed as he read on.
"Forget it! I can't cram,"

Alex slid further down in his chair as a feeling of despair settled on his hopes for acing the test. "Daaaaaaaammeeeeeet," he exaggerated the word. "Okay, c'mon. You need to focus. Try taking one part at a time,"
He glared intently at the words on the page, but that was all they were: words. They didn't seem to make any sense to him. Darn.
He glanced up at a harsh curse from a row over by the windows. There was a girl sitting there, seeming to be just as frustrated at studying as he was. After a quick pause, he decided to talk to her.
"Uhh...excuse me? Would you mind if we tried studying together? I seriously don'y get any of this," he smiled a sort of apologetic grin in her direction, holding up his math book.

The boy beamed. "Thanks, Caela. I'm Alex," he motioned for her to take the empty desk next to his, turning his own desk slightly so it'd be easier to study.
"Well, I kind of forgot to study...at all, but a lot of it I think I understand. It's just a problem of remembering where it applies, like when to use it."
He frowned at the open chapter, and pointed to the highlighted text. "See? That part, there, is what I need to remember the most. But I can't think of a way to do that..."
He considered all his options again, but none of them seemed to work. And cramming hadn't ever really been a good way for him to study. For some reason, it just didn't work for him. He felt his pulse speeding up as he stressed more and more over the test. It meant a LOT of his grade! He HAD to pass it, or else his mom would get so upset! And he couldn't let her get upset: she was already so upset over other matters right now. He didn't need his grades to be a burden.
And plus, the Step-Ass would get on him about his grades if he brought home a bad report card.

OOC|| I like how we're not actually saying what math it is they're studying...XD

Alex followed Caela's finger as she skimmed over the paragraph, explaining it to him in simpler terms. Slowly, it became a bit clearer, but it still didn't make too much sense. he would have needed to have more time to work it out than the amount that they were given.
"No kidding," he grimaced as she showed him a problem. He sat up straighter in his char, murmuring an absent "it's fine," when she apologized for stealing his book, and tried to mentally work through the problem. His eyebrows furrowed, and he stared at the text on the page. It took him a minute to realize that he wasn't even absorbing what he was reading.
"Ugh! This isn't gonna work," his pulse sped up again due to stress and he let out a depressed sigh.

Danny watched the class with an amused grin, examining his classmates. Almost all of them had math books open, either frantically trying to absorb the information, or casually glancing over the facts they already knew. How funny. He could already pick out who was going to pass and who wasn't, and a lot of people were going to fail. Two of the failures caught his attention; a girl trying to teach the material to a very stressed looking boy. Well, the girl might be okay, but the boy is doomed. He let out a small chuckle. He should've studied.
Danny then opened his own book, satisfaction etched in his smile. He hadn't even tried to study the chapters, simply because he didn't need to; he already understood everything. He never actually announced the fact - he didn't need people coming to him for help - but he was pretty good at math. I have to be. If Mom and Dad thought I was failing, they would think something was wrong...and send me back to therapy. Annoyance suddenly flashed across his features. He despised therapy.

Alex followed Caela's glance and noticed another dark haired boy, studying for the test. No...he looked like he knew the material. Alex suddenly was envious of everyone in the class who knew the subject. But....eh, not the nerd, who was now confusing the teacher toward the front of the class with trivia on the origin of the concept of math.
Alex was just about ready to go ask the rest of the class for help, when a sudden vibration in his pocket jolted him nearly from his seat. "OH SHI-" he stopped himself jut before the end, scrambling to pull his phone from his jeans. "Who the hell's calling me? I had it TURNED OFF! I know I di-" he glanced at the screen and froze, all anger at the interruption gone. His math test forgotten, he stared unseeing at the text he had received:
Moms n trouble come home NOW
The sender said it was his brother's phone.

Amber glanced around class watching nearly all her classmates trying to cram in for the test. Some students even leaned over to ask the person next to them for help. If they even took one day of studying, they wouldn’t have to be doing it now! Amber sighed in annoyance, what to do for the next 15 minutes. She crossed her arms on the chilly desk and laid her head down just thinking about random things. To pass the time, she idly reviewed herself in her head.
Without thinking, she started slightly swaying her long legs. Boredom eventually over took her after a few minutes, and she sat up and looked around the room for anyone familiar. She twisted her head to the front, and tried to recognize the people in front of her by the back of their heads. She spotted Danny, but she didn’t know if he wanted to be bothered. He looked engrossed in this book. Even he didn’t study, she incredulously thought. Sighing, she went back to her own task. Pulling out a black sheet of paper, she began sketching out herself fishing as a cat along with Ink down at the pier.

"Oh my God,"
Alex jerked out of his daze and glanced around the classroom. The teacher was still preoccupied at the front, and no one else had seemed to catch him with his phone. He panicked. His mom...
It must have been the Step-Ass.
"Caela, could you please do something for me for a minute?" he asked her, despair in his voice. He wasn't trying to act: this was real. "It's an emergency, and I NEED to get home. Please?"
His voice raised a notch at the end, and he consciously lowered it, hoping that no one else had overheard.

Danny closed his book softly, confidence radiating within him. He knew everything, he understood everything perfectly; he would be able to get a good grade, and his parents would leave him alone. He took the remaining time to watch his classmates once more. Amber was up front, but she didn't look as though she wanted to be bothered. He then turned his sights to the boy and girl from before. The boy looked awfully panicked as he flipped open his phone, too panicked for just a math test...what was wrong?
Danny continued watching him, quite interested in the sudden development. Has there been a problem? He's going to miss the test if there has. He didn't really care that much, but it was just a random musing.

Alex felt a little more relieves when Caela agreed to help him. "Thanks," he added when she finished. "Actually, that's pretty close. Here, when I stand up, hold me so I don't fall, okay? or...at least get me to the floor safely,"
He briefly wondered if she would be strong enough to keep him from hurting himself when he fell. Maybe not...but he didn't weight that much, and he would try his best to fall over the table, so he'd land on something before the floor. But then again...
"You might want help. Do you think you'd be strong enough to catch me if I fell? I wouldn't be able to physically help you...I don't think that faking an injury would be nearly enough to get me out of class. And plus, this way, you might be able to leave if you wanted, too,"
