"One, two, three..." muttered the teen under his breath as he focused his attention on the multicolored objects in front of him. Brightly colored balls flew threw the air and back down again, only to be caught with slender hands and tossed up once more. Thao continued his juggling practice as he strolled down the empty sidewalk, occasionally backing up or rushing forward as a badly tossed ball flew out of his range. So far, the young man had been very good at juggling - not one of the objects had fallen for a good while, and he even managed to do it while in motion. Still, from the way that his orange-brown eyes were trained on them, one could almost be certain that he was still nervous of missing a catch.
Suddenly stepping off the pavement onto hard asphalt, Thao almost stumbled into the street. Looking down briefly - he couldn't look for too long, he was still juggling - he noticed that the sidewalk had indeed turned off sharply down another street. Can I still juggle while turning...? mused the teen as he attempted to do just that. It turns out he couldn't - the first ball he threw, he threw too far, and not even a wild grab for the runaway object could recover it. Stopping the rest of his juggling activity, Thao made a move for the object, hoping it wouldn't hit the ground; a split second later, he got his wish.
It hit a stranger instead.
"Oh man!" Thao cried, "I'm so sorry, I was just practicing, I didn't mean to hit you!" His voice was filled with panic and concern, and he mentally berated himself for not practicing somewhere where stray balls wouldn't nail innocent passerbys. "Are you alright? I'm really sorry..."
((Not my best. =\))
