-Fail at a Blueprint of Noxx's Appartment There was a bang, as Noxx kicked open the door to her apartment. It was dark inside, but a lingering scent of smoke and raw meat was inside. Stumbling forward, a body slung around her shoulder, flicked on the lights. Surprisingly, it was a rather warm and well kept atmosphere. There was a small hallway with a closet to the left, as they stood on hardwood flooring. Yet just ahead there was the living room, wood merging onto a cream carpet. The yellow light on the cream carpet created an almost glow effect about the room. A black leather couch was against the right wall of the room. TV against the left, with a love seat and a glass coffee table. Everything seemed abnormally clean.
The walls were white, as was the ceiling. In the corner, there lay a large dog-bed next to a heater and air renewal. To the immediate left there was a small hallway, no bigger than the threshold. A full-size mirror was at the end of the hallway and on both left and right lay closed doors. Though Noxx continued into her living room. Putting Retz, the unconscious hyena shifter, on the leather couch. Expecting Max to saunter in, went to lock her door. Multiple locks covered the door, as if she expected to be raided each and every single day.
Taking a deep breath, thought of what Retz would need immediately. Turning, got some Advil, a cold rag, and a glass of water. Putting these into Max's hands, hoped the canine would tend to the hyaenidae. Leaving the duo, walked to the full-size mirror, fixed her hair quickly before entering the door on her right. It was her bedroom, hardwood flooring, three dressers and one queen size bed. The bed was neatly made, and the some drawers on the dressers had pad locks on them. Walking to the one closest to her, opened a drawer in the middle, and saw a couple disassembled sniper guns. Drawing her two handguns from her gunbelt, put them neatly in the dresser, before closing it.
Turning, strode over to the other dresser and opened it to an assortment of tank tops. Stripping the navy one she had on now, pulled on a sky blue tank top. Most of the shirts were either some type of blue, grey, black, or white. Slightly refreshed, went back into the living room to see what the boys were up to. Max and Retz were her tolerance buddies, not friends but tolerable. Resting against the door frame, watched Retz, face still mangled from their fight. Absent-mindedly feeling her own wounds, wrapped on her side, shook her head.
Strolling over to them, put her weight on one hip before asking "So, want me to fix you up? Or explain to doctors why you've been mauled?" In one of her fist, was a cloth, and a small plastic tin. It contained some benzalkonium chloride towelettes, stitch scissors, several stitch needles, and Non-absorbable Sutures. She could take care of herself, wanting to have to never rely on anyone else for anything. Rattling the tin, indicated what she was ready to do. Ready to do their wounds first before her own. Especially if they were going to be staying, she didn't want blood dripping on her practically stainless cream carpet

Retz
;; Retz couldn't help but groan as her door was kicked open, pain surging through his skull as if it was the victim of her kick instead. With a sigh, he trudged along with Noxx's help and was settled down onto a very nice leather couch. She walked away, and he took a chance to sit up and look around.
It was a nice sized apartment, pretty clean, with nice decorations here and there. Nodding in unwanted approval, he flopped back against the couch again and made a raspy sigh as pain ebbed into his body again.
Then, as soon as she had left, it seemed, she came back. He hadn't paid mind to Max, more concerned by the woman who was in charge of his medical attention.
"So, want me to fix you up? Or explain to the doctors why you've been mauled?"
He forced a smirk and those once cloudy eyes gleamed with a new life. "I suppose you can play doctor just this once." He brought his arms up carefully, holding his cheek as not to touch his wounds. "Mm... Numb."
Oh that couldn't be good. But hey, he could've just been ignoring the pain. He did it all the time anyway. While normally it was while he was high, appearantly that same tolerance didn't go away with his being sober. Maybe it's not so bad... Max would have my head if he knew I did drugs anyway.
But that thought vanished. Then again, it's just weed... nothing different then smoking, right? He didn't know why, but his smirked at that. Happy smokes. Heh.
Might as well post. New order goes... Noxx, Retz, Max

Finally, Max and Noxx managed to get Retz back to her apartment. Apparently, Noxx wanted to single-handedly drag Retz into the building by herself, so Max stood back and let her kick her door open in an epic entrance. The wolf-dog sighed a little to himself and followed her into a rather unexpected setting. It almost gave him cause to hesitate and stare, but he closed the door behind him and stood aside quickly as Noxx locked the door. Wow, talk about juxtaposition, he thought curiously. The place was so tidy, and she was such an eclectically-dressed individual. Max thought about his own cluttered place which he tried his hardest to keep neat, then dismissed the contrast and focused on the matter at hand. He followed the cheetah into the living room, only pausing to thoughtfully take off his shoes on the wooden floors before walking quietly over the carpet in his socks.
Mind reeling, Max looked down at himself, pulling his coat gently apart to glance at his chest. Most of the blood had dried. For some strange reason, he was paranoid that his blood might fall onto the carpet. Can’t let that happen. She might get annoyed. How would you get that out of the carpet? He put his hands in his coat pockets and watched as Noxx lowered Retz onto a rather fancy looking piece of furniture. How much had she paid for that? Where did she get her money? The love seat was kind of random. Max only realised he was evidently in a bit of shock when Noxx handed him some things and exited the room. In order to forget what had happened before, his mind was compensating by noticing ridiculous things. He took advantage of this and turned his tunnel vision focus onto Retz. What had Noxx given him? Oh. Advil.
Max quietly knelt down beside the couch and put the Advil down. That was useless until the hyena woke to swallow it. Advil gel might have been preferable, but the tablets would possibly be more effective if he could swallow them. Retz, it seemed, wasn’t as unconscious as previously thought. Max paused, the wet rag in his hand. “You should sit down,” he said. “I was just...going to...Noxx wanted me to...um you should sit down...” The hyena wasn’t even paying attention to him. Max put the glass of water on the coffee table. Perhaps Retz wasn’t thinking clearly either. Or maybe this wasn’t a new situation for him; whatever the reason, Max wasn’t going to push his helpfulness on him. He put the Advil down next to the glass. “For you, I mean if you need it.”
When Noxx returned, looking a little fresher, Max left Retz’s side and went to stand a few feet away to give her room. Retz didn’t look as bad as he had before. When Noxx had cleaned some of the blood away, it had exposed the wound, which wasn’t anywhere near as big as Max had first thought it might be. He relaxed a little, though only where Retz’s safety was concerned. He didn’t question Noxx’s query about doctoring Retz herself. Obviously she wasn’t an amateur. In fact, Max felt completely useless and he hated that feeling; he hovered, trying to understand the sudden slight smirk that had crossed Retz’s face. “Well, I’ll be standing here if you need my help,” he said softly. “If not, I can let myself out.” Perhaps it was time to go. Back to his life, away from this crazy shit. Always to wonder what he was missing, though he was sure he would find the answers to those relentless questions somewhere, sometime. Did he have the patience? He desperately wanted to ask more of Noxx, but it didn’t seem like a good time. He fidgeted again, noticing that his wounds were starting to bleed afresh from the walking and helping to carry Retz. Conscious of the carpet again, Max went to stand on the wooden floors. He was still holding the wet rag, so he dabbed the offending wound almost listlessly.

Did she want to play doctor? Or did she just want to stick this needle through Retz's face? Which ever the case, he was allowing her to fix him up. Setting the tin down, got some benzalkonium chloride to make 100% sure there was no dirt inside of his wounds. Taking the towelette, it was surprising how gentle her touch was. Eyes narrowed and cold, it was almost confusing how polar her opposites were. After cleansing, Max was worrying once more. It was annoying in a cute tolerable way. '...If not, I can let myself out.' Head jerking up from examining the wounds, said "No... sit." Pointing to the loveseat, wasn't about to let Max get infected on her watch.
Turning back to Retz, grabbed nylon stitch thread, and a centimeter long needle. She preferred to use this short needle to the longer ones. Retz was laying down on the couch, so Noxx decided to sit ON him. If you had to put a word to it, it looked almost sexual, but since the hyaenidae was out-of-it she had to make sure to get good stitches in. Wipping the needle with an alcohol swab, pressed it into the very edge of his wound. In silence, worked, occasionally tugging at the thread, or wiping away bodily fluids coming from the wound. It wasn't a painless process, but whether Retz's claim on his face being 'numb' was accurate or not, she wasn't about to waste any of her Desensitizing Spray on this boy.
But in a surprisingly short amount of time, Noxx got up and turned away. Cleaning her equipment, threw a tube at Retz. "Dab that on there, it'll heal faster that way." Turning to Max, looked at his wounds. Thank goodness it was her handy-work, they would heal with minimum scaring. Walking over to him, dropped to her knees and without consoling him about whether he wanted medical attention or not, started cleaning his chest wounds. Occasionally glaring up at him, as if daring him to move.
But being her good ole' self, took a longer needle with a rather intimidating feel about it, and sewed him back together with that. Time passed in silence, eyes clouded and hands seem to be moving by themselves. With a sharp tug, finished Max and packed up the tin and left it on the table. Giving a groan, turned to leave the room once more. It wasn't long before Noxx came back, a needle in her hand. Sitting down like a child next to the coffee table, hand out her arm, and stuck the needle in. A yellowish orange liquid was inside, and injected herself with the serum.
Putting the needle's cap back on, put it next to the tin. Staring at the duo, expected one of them to do something. But, it was her house and they were probably twiddling their thumbs waiting for something to do. "Retz." Addressing his name sharply, asked "Who is Cody?" She wanted to know, because it seemed to be the cause of tonight's events. Probably while he was talking, Noxx would start to experience her 'euphoria' from the heroin. Oh how wonderful it was, being a shifter with her skills and addictions gave her a false sense of immortality. It was a bit of a pity really, for how depressing it would be when she realized she would die. But until now, everything was hunky dory.

Retz
;; Holy Hell!
The poor boy concentrated on other things whilst she worked away. Good thing too, because otherwise he'd be screaming bloody murder at the pain that constantly shot through every inch of his face and neck. He tolerated it though, keeping his vision on the ceiling, or at times, her own busy eyes. He was often the most calm looking into them, though he'd never admit why.
Finally, with once last 'snip' she was done, and he took the chance to release the sounds he had been holding back. They came out in the form of a muffled snarl, as he brought his legs up and then groaned. The boy almost didn't catch the tube that was thrown at him. He grunted, seemingly an 'okay', and did as he was told, thoroughly sobered now that his main wound was stitched cleanly. Now his body could work on rematching his bloodcount again.
He watched her with almost... was that a jealous eye? She worked away on Max, and the hyena felt a soft pang of hurt. He slowly edged himself to a lounging sit on the couch, shuffled to kick off the shoes he had insisted to have on back in the graveyard. Then those eyes were back on the pair as Noxx finished her work. Max went on ignored for now, his worry being too much for Retz to answer to. (He's not good with people worrying about him. It just builds stress for himself if he pays attention to it. Max will learn not to take it personally, I hope.)
"Retz."
His head flicked up rather sharply in response to his name being called, and he winced. I zoned out... when did she move away?
"Who is Cody?"
That question snapped away any more clouds left in the boy's head. Those once dulled bicolor eyes became clear and sharp, almost defensive... and they became stone cold. It took a second, but his body followed suit, edging back a bit and tugging his legs up in a tense position that couldn't have been comfortable.
"...When did I mention that name?" It came out more of a statement then a question, before his voice continued, cold and steady. "Cody was the first shifter I met. We were both children." He flicked his vision over to Max cautiously, then around to look for his book, realizing now that he had forgotten about it. "He died. Those dirtbag humans murdered him for being a shifter. He..."
Now his eyes softened a bit in memory, and he looked over to Max again. "He was a domestic dog. And he knew how to shift long before he knew how to speak." With a growl, as if showing his distaste for the conversation, he shuffled backwards and tucked tighter. "We were brothers. No matter what anyone said, no matter our seperate families... we were brothers."
"...and they tore him apart for it."
Bah. Poor Retz is left without his high. Lucky Noxx.

At Noxx’s request, Max walked over to the couch and sat down. He took off his coat and laid it over the armrest, mindful of the fact it was probably filthy from lying on the dirt ground of the graveyard. He lifted his sore left arm slightly, turning his head a little to glance at the time on his watch, which he had left in a shoe prior to changing forms. 10:46pm Man, my assignment is gonna be so late... Max watched Noxx’s careful handiwork. She was skilled and quick, but even her efficiency didn’t keep pain at bay. While Retz looked quiet, Max found it hard to miss the easily readable signs of pain. He flinched a little when the needle first went into the hyena’s skin, but after a while, it was difficult to drag his eyes away. Besides, there was something about the way Noxx was perched upon Retz’s legs which made him wonder what else the girl had in mind for him.
Max didn’t know what to think or how to react when Noxx came striding towards him. Was she seriously going to stitch him up? Why? Why, when she fucking did this? This isn’t a bloody game... Nonetheless, he muttered a soft and confused ‘thank you’ as she started to clean him up. He tried not to look at the needle, especially as it dug into his chest. Like Retz, Max didn’t want to embarrass himself by yelling or wincing. Had Noxx been someone he knew and liked, he might have made a few jokes about the whole thing, and he would have been more comfortable showing his pain, but this was not that sort of situation. So, Max remained as stoic as was possible. He occasionally flinched and gritted his teeth, but he made the process as easy as he could for her by shifting positions when she attacked those areas with the needle. Surprisingly, when the job was done, Max didn’t think the wounds looked too bad. It didn’t matter too much if they scarred. He would come up with a story, and he could hide the scars. Unlike Retz, whose wounds were evident on his face. With luck, those would heal without a scar, but they looked too angry to imagine them disappearing forever.
Before Max could thank her again or say anything at all, Noxx had left the room. His eyes travelled towards Retz, but he didn’t have anything else to say to the hyena. He looked away and busied himself with inspecting Noxx’s work. It wasn’t that he thought she had done a bad job; it was definitely the opposite. It was mostly that he still couldn’t believe the wounds were really there. They were itching a little. That meant they were healing. Right? Noxx came sauntering back into the room, purpose to her gait. He gazed on curiously and very disapprovingly as she injected herself with something that looked very suspicious. But this was her house, and she had just cleaned him up. He had no right to speak out against her habit, although every fibre of his moral being wanted to tell her to stop. It was none of his business. The wolf-dog looked away politely while she did it, uncomfortable with the confronting image. He inspected his watch again instead. Then Noxx went and asked a question Max thought was tactless. Though sometimes, he reflected, that was just what the other person wanted. They wanted to talk about their past and themselves. All they needed was someone to listen.
His eyes went back to Retz as the hyena began to answer the question. His reaction was evident; he became visibly guarded, drawing his legs closer to himself almost protectively. Finally, Retz acknowledged Max’s presence. He wished he hadn’t. Was that accusation in his eyes? Why the growl? Or was he merely being defensive himself in thinking that Retz’s glance was negative? “I’m sorry,” was all he said, his lingering gaze very intense. He looked away suddenly, letting Noxx say whatever it was she had to say, and frowned down at the carpet quietly. So that was why he was so misanthropic. Humans had killed his best friend. But where did the human start and end with a shape-shifter? Weren’t they human too? Human and animal. Max thought about the hate and violence he read in the papers every morning. Yet he still had faith in people. Too much faith, perhaps. For how long he would continue along this line of thinking was the question.

On her high, Noxx listened to this story about this Cody kid. It wasn't impressive, if anything it sounded like her motive. It was a bit of a disappointment, up until now she had assumed the Cody was Retz's dead or lost boyfriend. 'How uncute.' Standing up, muttered something about it being 'bland' and walked away into the kitchen. Opening the refrigerator door, looked at the red meat, it's about all that she really had. Besides some milk. "So what do you guys want to nibble on? I've got... tap water, bottled water, frozen water, raw red meat and..." opening the freezer, announced, "Vanilla Ice Cream."
Looking over at the duo, grabbed the ice cream a two cubes of meat, and a spoon. Walking over to Retz, sat down next to him on his right. So that she was in the middle of Max and Retz, even though Max was on the love seat. "So..." giving Max the ice cream, since he seemed to be a normal individual, and handed one of the cubes of meat to Retz. Surely he must eat like his is. She did, more of a feline acquired taste than a humans. And continuing their Cody conversation as if she hadn't got up, said, "That's why there's a war. Their pathetic individuals, humans. Animals have more sense than them."
Taking a violent bite out of her meat, liked how the taste of blood was still there on the cold, lifeless tear in her hand. Blue eyes falling to Retz, held nothing but a coldness. Mostly because of their conversation. It made her want to vomit, humans think they know everything. "You emotional wreck." Her tone was negative, but leaning towards him, took her hand and put it on his cheek gently moving his face towards hers. Lips meeting momentarily, Noxx closed her eyes. But as soon as it happened, it stopped.
Leaning back on her black leather couch, took turned to Max. Whatever Retz did now, Noxx would probably allow him. It was just a matter of whether he was in disgusted shock and silence, or if this was his que to be egged on. Whatever the meaning, "Maxxie! So how do you feel, living a human life?" It must be... just as difficult as living as a human. But his ability kept him alive, at least in her books. It seemed that he seemed to reject, rather than embrace, how unique he was. "Is it worth it?"

Retz
;; Noxx scoffed, turning away, and Retz relaxed again. She either didn't care, which was a good thing in its own way, or she didn't want to continue the topic at hand, which was also good. He stared after her as she walked away, saying something about food, and offering them an unheeded choice.
"I'm sorry."
It was as if Retz had just remembered Max was actually there, and not just a figment, because the boy looked over incrediously and blinked. "...for what? You didn't do anything wrong." He would've said more for his friend to be at ease, but Noxx came back in, handing over ice cream for the poor young wolf-dog, and giving Retz a hunk of raw meat, which he gladly accepted.
"That's why there's a war. They're pathetic individuals, humans. Animals have more sense than them."
He chewed silently on his meat for a bit, considering this, before taking up a bite into his mouth and growling in agreement. It was briefly chewed before Noxx caught his eye again, this time with her own intense, cold stare.
The hyena's own mix-matched eyes stared back in uncertainty, mixed with what could've been insecurity or subtle fear. But mostly it was confusion, if a bit cold and irritated. Such poor emotions washed away instantly, though, replaced with surprise and astonishment as the next thing happened.
"You emotional wreck."
He gulped down his meat painfully, leaning his head maybe an inch more away as she leaned in, stopping though at the touch of her hand on his cheek. It was as if all logic melted away at her careful touch, and he felt his eyes grow heavy, instinctively, as their lips touched. Even though it was but a second long, he returned the peck of a kiss, leaning a bit towards her as she backed away again. He caught himself though, and sat back again, blinking away the daze to be replaced with perplexion.
Confusion. Bewilderment. Shock. And something else, maybe. The hintmost of a smile tugging at the corner of his lips. Lovesick? Oh yeah, as soon as she started talking to Max, her attention off of him, those wide eyes went back to their half-lidded daze, and he flopped back to much silently on his meat, the tiny smile still there as he did.
Max might've been the canine in the room.. ..but Retz was now officially the lovesick puppy.
Max would probably on a normal day, or for that matter, any other normal person would, find that scene to be totally random and pretty darn funny at Retz' expense. xD The tiniest of pecks can turn poor Retz into a puddle it seems. Noxx has him wrapped around her little finger from here on out, and she probably doesn't even know it. xD

Not surprisingly, Noxx’s attitude towards Retz’s visibly negative emotional reaction to the Cody question was dismissive. Max, however, with his caring attitude, was shocked that she would behave in such a manner. He frowned, fidgeting again and (metaphorically) biting his tongue before a smart comment came out of his mouth. As quickly as she’d spouted the question, Noxx offered them something to eat. It was almost surreal. She’d clawed them, stitched them up, and now she was offering them hospitality. He was still wondering what to say when Noxx started getting the food out anyway. While she busied herself with her task, Max turned to Retz again and offered him a very small smile, then went back to his thoughts.
Max took the ice cream gratefully. Could Noxx read him that well? There was no way he could stomach the thought of eating raw meat, not even in dog form. He wasn’t a big meat eater anyway; Max preferred fish and chicken over red meat, though he would never say no to his mother’s pasta. “Thanks,” he said. It was a pretty random thing to eat, but Max loved ice cream. He dug into it quickly, trying to quell the nausea resulting from the smell of bloody meat. He swallowed a mouthful, listening to Noxx’s words. “But not every human is a bad person,” he said carefully. “Just as not every shifter is a bad person.” His eyes followed Noxx’s movements. He blushed slightly when she moved to kiss Retz, wondering what her intentions were towards the hyena. He considered leaving, but the kiss ended as suddenly as it had started, and Retz looked a little shocked. O...kay... Max thought, scratching his neck in confusion. Retz clearly didn’t take that sort of thing very well, but then again, Max was no better with girls. Especially not the girl he liked but had never been able to say more than a couple of words to.
Before he could offer to leave again, Noxx turned her attentions to him. He blinked in surprise at her question, then wondered whether he should answer it. His response would probably earn an even more scathing response than Retz’s had regarding Cody. He bit his lip, looking to the side for a second before looking at Noxx. He shrugged uncomfortably, then looked around pointedly. “Well, don’t you live like a human? Only a human buys furniture, pays their taxes and bills. Only a human freezes their food and,” he indicated the discarded needle, “only a human does things for pleasure, whether it’s eating or films or drugs or just reading, or drinking.” His look was almost challenging, though for the most part his expression wasn’t at all angry. It wasn’t quite an answer to her question, but it was the best he was going to give her until she answered his. Max wouldn’t laugh at Retz!! How mean! Not sure whether Max should leave? Considering something might happen between Noxx and Retz and they probably won’t want poor Max watching. By the way; how did you get your posts aligned so far to the right? Mine doesn’t go very far, I used the block quote thing. :/
