I have way too much time on my hands. If Cassidy had less time on her hands she wouldn't be at the beach when the water was still freezing cold. Or, too cold for Cassidy for that matter. But the water was icy cold nonetheless. So why was she there? Cassidy pondered for a second, she'd left her home around ten am then went to go get a muffin from a bakery and walked around and wandered a little bit before she would up pacing the beach. In other words: she just happened to have stumbled upon the beach and not wanting to keep wandering she had stuck, even if the water was to cold for her taste.
It really was a nice day though. The sun was warm but not blazing hot, it was adequate. Adequate sun was good enough, better than no sun at all. There was also the breeze that carried off from the sea. Cassidy adored the breeze, it had its very own salty but somehow somewhat sweet scent to it. If Cassidy opened her mouth she was able to sometime catch a mouthful of humid air that tasted just like how it smelled. The sand sunk under Cassidy's weight and squished between her toes. Paradise, or something close to it.
Cassidy let the waves brush up against her feet as she lay down on the shore. A few times the water threatened to creep up to the pants and get her soaked but it kept it's distance for the most part. The girl closed her eyes and hummed happily. With her eyes closed Cassidy could focus more on the sounds around her. The waves crashing, people chatting lightly and laughing wholeheartedly, and the relentless sound of kids playing. The sounds of peeling laughter carried across the beach as well as little stomping feet. They were unusually loud...
“Is she asleep?” Cassidy heard. She hoped that the little kid voices she heard were yelling from across the beach and not whispering right beside her.
She was just about to get up until- BAM! Cassidy was hit with three pails of water. Her eyes flew open and she sat right up only to yell at the kids, “Didn't your mother teach you any manners!” Too late in any case, the kids were running full speed away and Cassidy wasn't one to pick fights with little kids.
But one thing was even more irritating for sure; she had been wearing a white shirt. The shirt was sticking to her in all the wrong places including to her pink lacy bra. All Cassidy could do was curse under her breath. That was one way to ruin a day at the beach.
