...and one embarrassing trip down the bus steps for Gin-kind.
"Oof!"
She landed on the cold, cracked pavement of the Shelpey Bus stop. Her legs had fallen asleep during the ride so when the bus driver shook her awake and told her to "Get off his damn bus or buy another ticket." She grabbed her bag and gave him a sarcastic salute, intending to march off the bus with a bit of class. Instead her legs gave out underneath her unexpectedly and sent her tumbling face down into Shelpey. The bus speed away, its driver laughing like a goon.
Gin ignored the snickers from passer-bys and picked herself up. Her knee was bleeding slightly but other then that the only thing hurt was her pride. She shrugged off the embarrassment and slung her bag over her shoulder, eying her surroundings with critical curiosity.
To the naked eye Shelpey was nothing more then an average city: lots of cars and buildings, a Mcdonalds on every other corner and a Starbucks inbetween them. Gin was standing on Main street which meant virtually nothing to her. She could be standing in the middle of Boufu Egypt for all she knew.
The sun would be going down in a few hours. She had twenty bucks left in her pocket. Definately not enough for even the shittiest of motel rooms. Sighing, she knew that she hardly had a chance to find any other Shifters today and decided to find a nice quiet spot where she could Shift into her fox form and hunt for something half-way appetizing to eat. In a city like this their had to be a few alley cats around just waiting to be dinner.

[Mind if I toss DJ in here? If so, just ignore him and let me know; I'll delete my post if it's a private thread. ^^]
Djakael stretched his arms above his head as he made his way through the crowded Main street of Shelpey, the thin-strapped bag on his bag thumping lightly against his lower back as he moved. He tried his best to take light, bounce-less steps, trying hard not to rough up the delicate paintbrushes, canvases, and paint bottles within it.
He'd been running low on art supplies and, having planned nothing for the day, had made it his mission to get any and all shopping he needed to do done that day. Chase had helped for a while, but he was recovering from a cold and so could only be out running errands for so long. As such, Djakael had told him to go back to their apartment and rest while he went out to finish up his shopping; meaning buying his art supplies.
His long arms dropped back down to his sides as he blinked, hearing a dull 'thump' and light, sneering snickers from the contemptuous crowd pushing around the bus stop. Making his way closer, Djakael blinked again - this time in surprise and mild worry - as he saw the short girl in cut-off shorts, scandalous shirt, combat boots, and camouflage jacket picking herself up from the ground. He quickly noticed the slight amount of blood welling up on her knee and winced in sympathy; he knew how easy it was for legs to fall asleep on the bus, especially seeing as he was rather tall and the seats could get really cramped.
Pushing a couple of sour-faced suits out of the way, Djakael pulled up a few feet away from the girl and ignored the sneers he received from passerby's, leaning down just slightly so that he could get a better look at her. "Hey, are you alright?" He asked, warm but sharp sky blue eyes not missing the Shifter mark on her belly. "You might want to hide your mark, too, by the way. We've got quite a few people who would love to run tests on Shifters around here." He added softly, just loud enough for her to hear. With a wary glance around himself, he tugged the sweatband around his right wrist up enough to show his own mark; it seemed to almost glow against the pale skin surrounding it. The dark blood red of it had, on more than one occasion, made close friends of his ask if he'd hurt himself or something. Majority of the time, he was able to ease their fears by telling them it was a silly tattoo he'd gotten as a dare one year. Quickly, he pulled the black-stripped smokey gray wristband back over his mark; once more hiding it from the prying eyes of society. "My name is Djakael, by the way, but you can just call me Dj if you want. That's what most people call me anyways." He said, a little louder this time, and with a pleasant smile.

(Nope its all good ^^) Gin gave the young man an elaborate bow and shook his hand "I'm Gin. Its short for Gwendoline. " She quickly buttoned her jacket to cover her stomach. "I'm here for five seconds and already I'm getting warnings about loonies that might hunt me down." She laughed airily as she bent down to sop up her bloodied knee with her sleeve.
Getting back to Dj's level, she asked somewhat nervously "Uhmm. I know this is going to sound strange but could you show me around a bit or point me in the right direction? I just got here from Seattle and know absolutely no one. I wasn't even expecting to find any other Shifters for days. They're few and far between where I'm from." She laughed a bit. "And by the sound of things, it isn't particularly safe for me to go wandering by myself..." She knew she was being rather forward but what more could she do? She was dead lost in a city she knew virtually nothing about.

Djakael couldn't help the slight twitch that quirked the corner of his lips into a mildly amused smirk as Gin performed an intricate bow before shaking his hand, quickly buttoning up her jacket afterwards. The smile wilted ever so slightly as he was reminded of her faintly injured knee and, not for the first nor last time, he wished he were as constantly prepared as Trinell was. The wolf had supplies hidden discreetly and successfully all throughout the city; she had needed the quick attention on more than one occasion if only due to her stubborn nature. 'Well... she does have a cell phone now, so I could always just call her and ask where one is. I'm sure she's got quite a few around here.' He mused lightly, one hand ghosting over the thin, light blue phone in his pocket.
"Uhmm. I know this is going to sound strange but could you show me around a bit or point me in the right direction? I just got here from Seattle and know absolutely no one. I wasn't even expecting to find any other Shifters for days. They're few and far between where I'm from. And by the sound of things, it isn't particularly safe for me to go wandering by myself..." Asked Gin hesitantly, Djakael shaking his head with a slight smile. "Sure, I'll show you around. Do you want food or a place to sleep first? And, if you don't mind me calling my friend real quick, I can help you clean up your knee. She has first aid kits spread all throughout Shelpey for quick access should they be needed." He replied casually. "And Shelpey really isn't too incredibly, all things considered, but is anywhere really safe to be out alone at night?" He stubbornly ignored how, unless someone pulled a gun or knife on him, he would get away without a scratch. It took even more obstinacy for him to ignore the fact that Trinell would be fine even if they did pull a gun or knife on her.
Djakael glanced over Gin's head as he saw someone wave and smiled, waving back for a second, as he saw one of the many Thieves Shelpey had hidden away trudging down the street, a Starbucks cup gripped in his hand. "As for Shifter's being few and far in between, well, Shelpey is definitely not like Seattle in that case. Shelpey is crawling with Shifters; you can find us almost anywhere. But watch out - you can never tell if someone is an Assassin or Thief until you ask and, most times, people are hesitant to ask. Don't want to spark a fight in the middle of a theater or anything, ya know." He said lowly, keeping the delicate information of Shifters carefully away from the gossiping ears all around them.

Gin was surprised by his generosity. She had half been expecting him to tell her to get lost. This type of kindness was hardly seen back in her old neighborhood. That is unless you had happened to run into Tonic. He brought pure joy to their neighborhood before he was murdered. She fell silent as she was reminded of how hard he worked to be nice to everyone he passed on the street. Tensing at the thought of her brother, she wrapped herself tighter in his coat. Tonic had been everything to her. He was so much more then a sibling. He was her best friend and protector and she could hardly fathom how she was even functioning without him to remind her to wash her clothes or eat breakfast. She couldn't even remember the last time she ate breakfast much less a full meal. Her stomach growled quietly in agreement.
"I really don't want to impose. I mean..I can find my own place..." She was blushing deeply in embarrassment at her situation. "I suppose you can call your friend because I really should get this knee patched up but after that I think I can find my own way." She said this all with a smile but was visibly uncomfortable. For as long as she could remember Gin had hated accepting charity of any sort even when she needed it most. She would sleep out in the cold and hunt for scraps rather then admit that she desperately needed help. "Besides" She babbled on. "I actually need to find someone. My father was a Shifter and I have reason to believe that he lives here." She neglected to mention what guild he had been a member of.
