Sky.
Tik, Tok, Tik, Tok...
The coffee shop was quiet today. As such, it wasn't that unexpected to find the young shifter, known as Sky, kicking back at a booth with coffee and a muffin. Dressed in a navy-and-black v-neck tee, dark faded denim jeans and her usual 'stomping boots', the girl was a far cry from usual shifters, who ran around in their unique styles wearing collars and charms of all the kinds. Sky never was one to do the same. The soft tik-tok of her silver watch kept her company, a comforting sound when the mind decided to wander, as it did today.
Her mind drifted from various thoughts to memories and ideas. As she thought, the ticking was joined with a tak-tak, her tongue peircing tapping against her teeth unhealthily as she stared at nothing out the window. 'I've been here a while, a few days maybe?' A soft sigh. 'I wonder how everyone back home are? Mom's probably at a lost without me there to babysit..'
It was sudden, but she slammed her hand down hard on the table top. 'No. Don't think about it. You're dead to them, there's no going back.' Her once calm, bored expression became anxious, unnerved. How could she have thought about it, after so long being gone? Her eyes snapped down to her watch, and calmly, she grabbed up her coffee cup, taking a sip while checking the time.
10:12 in the morning. The early risers had already gone off to work, but soon enough the people who slept in would be arriving for their routine wake-ups. Meaning the shop would suddenly seem alot more crowded... "Can't be helped, I suppose..." She murmured softly under her breath, shaking her head a bit in distaste. 'I'll wait until people show up, and then leave. Should be done eating by then, at least.'

He wasn't sure if it was worth the money at first, but now that he was more than half way through it, he realized that it was quite a fascinating read. As boring as someone else may find The Encyclopedia of Natural Medicine, Revised Second Edition, Brian found it exciting. A loud crack of thunder sounded across the sky, and Brian looked up with a grimace. He had been so wrapped up in his book, that he had been wandering aimlessly through the streets. Not only was he blocks away from where he wanted to be, but it looked like it was about to rain. He slipped the book under his synthetic jacket to help protect it as monstrous raindrops began falling.
He made another face as his vision became blurred from the raindrops streaking across his glasses. He quickly became soaked and chilled to the bone as he looked for somewhere to get out of the rain. Noticing the nearby coffee shop, he pushed the door open and stepped inside, rain making small rivulets down his face and neck. He tugged on his plain white tee, which was now soaked and clinging to his bony body and shifted his blue jacket. His book fell out from his jacket, and landed on the floor with a loud clunk. A blush rose on his cheeks as people turned to look at the dripping, skinny boy. He quickly picked up the book, barely noticing that it was ruined. He walked over to the serving counter and ordered a hot chocolate with a voice that cracked. He nervously shoved his glasses, which had slipped down on his nose, back up to it's proper place and mumbled a thank you as the serving girl handed him his drink. The boy blush furiously as their fingers touched. Brian turned around and promptly tripped over his own feet.
The skinny, tall youth grabbed hold of the nearest table to keep from falling over. In the process he managed to knock the drink of one of the people sitting there into the guy's lap. Brian's eyes widened as he muttered another apology. He quickly turned away and made for the darkest corner booth. He folded his tall frame into the booth, jarring his hands and spilling hot chocolate on them. "Ow, ow, ow, ow!" he quietly exclaimed, dropping his book on the table to mopthe spill up with a napkin the serving girl had wrapped around the drink. Brian glanced back over to where he had spilled other boy's hot drink to see that particular boy glaring. He averted his eyes, staring straight ahead.
The boy blinked as he realized there was a girl sitting in front of him. The girl had long brown hair and was wearing a black and blue t-shirt. Brian blushed and started to stand, collected his book and drink. "I-I'm sorry. I didn't r-realize you were si-tting here. I'll go now." he said, voice cracking on the 'sitting.'

Ruumblllee..!
Sky couldn't help but look up, just in time for lightning to flash across the now darkening sky, following the rumble of thunder a few seconds previous. 'So much for leaving. I'm not getting wet if I can help it.' She took the chance to watch the rain start falling, her food and drink forgotten for now as she did. The pittering of drops against the window was a comforting sound, and closing her eyes, the young girl became lost in it. Music to her ears, a melody that shot songs and music into her head. Lyrics danced in an unorganized fashion around her mind, forming a song unlike any that anyone had ever heard. She was just about to start humming along when...
Thunk!
Blue eyes snapped open, flashing an alerted shine to them as the shifter held back her start. Her vision turned to a boy, around her age, younger maybe, struggling to get in from the rain while still carrying a now ruined book. 'Poor kid.' Taking a sip of her coffee, she settled into watching him move about, tripping once he had his.. hot chocolate? Mm. The cocoa was a strong scent, even here in the back booth. Her ears picked up apologies as the boy made his way... in her direction. 'Poor kid, he'll want my booth to hide away from the crowd.' It wasn't until he sat down across from her that she smiled, a knowing glint in her eyes as he made a mess of himself once again. Taking another sip of her coffee, she waited, and sure enough, he noticed her.
"I-I'm sorry. I didn't r-realize you were si-tting here. I'll go now."
Her smile vanished, and she lowered her coffee quickly. "No, wait!" Her hand reached out to touch his arm, and she smiled again. "Join me. I could use the company, really." Her voice rang out calmly, pleasantly, as she urged him to sit back down. She drew her hand back, gripping her cup in both hands and slowly taking another sip. "My name's Sky."

Gin had been wandering around Shelpey for hours. She had no where to go and no one to take her in. The nice boy who patch her knee seemed to have run off right after she explained that she didn't want his charity. She supposed that she came off as harsh. Right as she turned a corner into another one of Shepleys uncomfortably unfamiliar streets, in search of a nice alley or empty building she could crash in for the night, a drop of rain fell onto her freckled nose. "For the luvva..." And before she could finish cursing, the sky seemed to open up ,soaking her in a matter of seconds. The only place she could go to was a quiet coffee shop.
She shook dark red hair out like a dog sending a spray of water onto the customers. She was met with a few scowls but other then that no one bothered her. She dug deeply into her pockets and produced just enough change for a cup of coffee. The woman working behind the counter gave her a pitiful look and handed her a large cup of black coffee. She breathed in the scent and warmed her hands on the cup before taking large gulp. Tonic had always hated coffee and hardly ever had it in the house. "It'll stunt your growth." He always snapped at her when he caught her drinking it. Gin took another swig of coffee and tried to shake off her feeling of helplessness that had been plaguing her since her only brother was ripped away from her at the hands of a cold blooded killer.
Now Gin O'Riley was alone and broke in the middle of a town that she knew zilch about. She leaned back against the wall of the shop and surveyed more unfamiliar faces. I should have never left Seattle. My father probably is long gone from here and I don't even know how to find more Shifters...

Brian was already half way out of the booth when the girl snapped, "No, wait!" Stunned, he froze as her hand shot out and her fingers gently brushed his arm. He stared at where she had touched him, a light blush dusting his cheeks. "Join me. I could use the company, really." He glanced up to see her smiling. "O-oh-kay. If you don't mind or anything." He slowly eased himself back into the booth, hoping he wouldn't manage to knock anything else over.
The girl cupped her mug in both hands and took a sip. "My name's Sky." Brian followed Sky's example, wrapping his cold, stiff fingers around his hot chocolate and taking a sip. "I'm Brain - I mean - Brian." He stumbled. So far so good. He hadn't blurted out any random facts that would weird the girl out. But what should he say? He glanced around the room, trying to figure out what to say.
Against the wall a red-headed girl leaned, holding a large mug of ... something. Brian blinked and looked back at Sky. "Do you think we should maybe let her come sit with us?" Due to a combination of hot drinks on a cold day and the pouring rain, the little coffee shop was crammed full. There was a small line, and every once in a while someone would dash in, order a coffee, and then dash back out.
