+Shanks+
I'll come for you,
The saltwater burned his nose. It was such a strong, burning scent. It really wasn't a great idea to be on the beach in his Panther form anyway. He didn't even like the beach! He really didn't like any place that too many people flocked to over the summer months, because in the warm Night air, people would still be rushing about, lights still turned on, and the city would be like a great ball of light. There was no time for him to shift and go out, since it would never be dark.
Black paws stumbled slightly on the sand, Shanks wasn't used to it. He was a Jungle animal, not a Desert boy. He didn't even like sweets, for record of the word Desserts, which was only a letter away from Desert. Finally too bored with having nothing else to do, Shanks took a huge leap and threw himself into the gentle ocean. It was like a Dark void, the Ocean at night. But the stars and the moon shined prettily nonetheless. In the middle of the large full moon's semi-translucent image on the water, Shanks looked up at the stars and moon wistfully. What was he wishing for? Even he didn't know.
Uncontent, Shanks glided back to the shore, changing into his human form just before getting on the dry sand and flopping down on his back. With and exasperated sigh, he barely opened his eyes to gaze at the stars again. "Why is it that looking at the stars makes me feel so... incomplete?" He idly wondered aloud. "Is it because I'm alone? Because I've always been Alone? Just because I wasn't raised like the rest of them? Because I never went to school, never had a family, never had actual friends? It's because when I look at the stars, and see how they all surround the moon, all together and happy, with friends no matter where they were to travel, it makes me feel..." Shanks cut his sentence short, turning over on his side, an arm partially covering his face.
His clothes, a random tee-shirt and some baggy black jeans, were covered in sand and soaked in salt water. His hair was too, lying in messy tumbles covering is face. He imagined himself looking like some looser punk who had just got gang-mauled, left for dead on the beach to be found by the police in the morning. Though none of that had happened, somewhere inside his head, Shanks wished it had.
With a large sigh, he went hoisted himself into a sitting position, legs to his chest, resting his chin on his knees. 'The stars make me feel so alone.' just that one sentence flashed through his head, and his mind went blank then, as he starred out at the sea's churning waves, tossing glittering beams of stars every which way. Exhausted by his own constant, head aching thoughts, Shanks softly flipped back onto the beach sand, an arm over his eyes, laying on his back. He said nothing as he heard soft footsteps in sand. He didn't care if anyone saw him. He was human. He was allowed at this beach. He was fine, there was no need for false attention.
...but only if you told me to.
M U S E: 9 or 10 T I M E: 42 minutes. C O U N T: f i v e - f o u r - t h r e e / 543 I N S P I R A T I O N: I felt I needed to semi-vent, and also, my muse for Shanks was incredibly high, seeing as I haven't made an actual RP post with him here for a while. N O T E: Anyone can join. Male, Female, Child, Adult, anyone. Shanks isn't gonna be depressed cookie, btw. He might spill his feelings to Damien, since they're closer friends, but otherwise he'll just try to act cool and normal; his own little way of being charming.

~ Adina
Adina walked down the beach, gazing up at the pretty night sky. She was barefoot, with her jean pant legs rolled up. A loose white t-shirt fluttered in the warm, salty air. The mouse-girl gazed curiously at the couples who walked down the street hand in hand. This girl never could understand how someone could like another like that. After all, boys were just boys right?
With a happy smile, she ran from driftwood pile to driftwood pile, swinging a large waterlogged stick she had found. Adina would carefully lift up rocks and wood to look for crabs and other beach creatures. As she headed towards another dark shape, she realized it wasn't a pile of wood and stones. Rather, it was a boy curled up. She inched closer, reaching out with the stick to poke him lightly. Was he dead?
"M-mister? You okay Mister?" Of course, she wasn't supposed to talk to strangers, but he might be hurt. With a sudden thought, she jumped back, and looked around - searching the beach. Of course! How could she have forgotten her babysitter? She would know what to do! Not seeing her babysitter, she glanced back down at the boy. She noticed how his clothes were all wet and covered in sand. Did he drown in the ocean?
~ Alexx With an angry sigh, Alexx scanned the beach. What the hell was she doing on a beach without a handsome stud at her side? She was babysitting. Yes. Her. Miss Dovina actually had to work. She was SO sick of this. First, the bratty little kid wouldn't shut up. THEN Alexx turns her back for just one second, and the kid disappears. She briefly considered just leaving the kid here, but then sighed as she continued to trudge down the beach. According to her daddy, she needed to learn how to work. 'Fat chance Daddy.' She thought sourly. 'Where the hell did that kid go?!' Alexx mentally stormed. Just then she noticed the kid was poking a something with a stick. As she stalked closer, she realized it was a guy. A sly grin stole over her pink lips. She pulled at her grey, tight-fitting t-shirt. The sleeves and bottom part of the shirt were ripped off to reveal her shoulders and midriff. The slender girl glanced down at the lower half of her body, revealing low-riding, short dark blue jeans. Her feet were bare, for both she and Adina had left their shoes back at the car. Alexx's eyes lit up as she strode closer. The boy was pretty hot - this Alexx noticed right away. She also got this nagging feeling that she knew him from somewhere. She pushed past Adina and leaned over the boy, pushing some of his sand filled hair away from his eyes. Unfortunately, his arm was over his eyes. So how did one wake up a boy who was passed out? Scratch that. How did Alexx wake up a cute boy who was passed out? She leaned down further and pressed her lips softly on his. Alexx pulled away and waited for the inevitable reaction. I'll come for you,
The tiny thuds of footsteps came closer to the panther shifter, and closer, and closer, then stopped. He could feel the presence of another, he could literally feel her starring at him like he was dead. Hell, maybe he was! He couldn't say he would really regret it, the only one that'd miss him was Damien.
He was then prodded with an unidentified object in his stomach. First reaction; it's a knife. Don't move, they might think you're already dead. When they remove the weapon, bolt or attack. Then the little girl spoke, and he realized he was in no danger. Untensing his muscles, descided to ignore her. Maybe she'd go tell some real gangster where he was or something? She persisted though.
Then, again he heard footsteps. He thought the little girl was going away, but actually, when she prodded him with a stick again, he knew someone else was coming. He silently smelled the air. Perfume. He'd smelled it somewhere before, but where?
Oh, that's right. It was Al-
Thought cut short. Mind stopped working. He must've really been dead. Just as he had moved his arm from his golden orbs, he was quite surprised to have lip contact greet them. Maybe a scornful face is what he expected, for loitering in her way, but no. It couldn't be tha kind. It had to be something complex, like a kiss.
Rising to a sitting position, guided a hand up to his mouth, a state of shock. "A-alexx?!" Shanks questioned, as if she might be a stranger. Surely she recognised him. Or maybe she hadn't. He didn't care. He just felt.... drunk.
"Ow. My head." Shanks said, his flushed bright red face, well, embarrassed looking. He hadn't planned on his first kiss being on a beach, at night, while he was soaked, and with Alexx. Never thought of it. Then again, he never thought of kissing, in the first place, but now it seemed that was all his mind had time to think about.
"Uh. Alexx, you know it's me right? Me, Shanks? You don't think I'm some other dude, do you?" He didn't know why, but he was praying for her to say 'No, I thought you were someone else," but his mind was hoping frantically that she would say 'Yes, I knew it was you.'. Man, sometimes, he understood why girls didn't get guys. How were they supposed to get us, if we didn't get ourselves?!
...but only if you told me to.

~ Adina
Adina had missed how the man's body stiffened when he was poked. As Alexx pushed by her she asked in a shaky voice, "Is he okay? Or did he die?" She waited impatiently as Alexx knelt next to the stretched out form. Slender fingers had reached out to brush away the sand ladened hair that was flung messily across his face, only to hesitate as the fingers brushed against his arm. Adina held her breath as Alexx leaned closer and closer - until her glossy lips gently touched his.
During this entire exchange, Adina had slowly leaned over, closer and closer to the ground, and when Shanks jumped up, she straightened dramatically. 'Did....Alexx just kiss this random dude? SHE"S SO COOL!' Adina rushed forwards just as Shanks muttered, "A-alexx?!" Shock and surprise colored his voice. "Ow. My head." The boy said, face flushing and words slurred slightly. Adina giggled and poked him again with the stick. "Your face is red!" ((ADINA MOMENT~<3)
~ Alexx Alexx's lips twisted into a half smile. This guy was so cute. He acted like he'd never been kissed before. Who was he though? The slender girl was sure she recognized those gold eyes. After all, it wasn't every day a girl ran into a guy with eyes the color of a rare metal. "Uh. Alexx, you know it's me right? Me, Shanks? You don't think I'm some other dude, do you?" 'Oh yeah! It's Shanks.' She resisted the urge to chuckle. Poor guy never did know how to act whenever Alexx was around. "Of course I know you, handsome. You don't think I go around kissing every random guy, now do you?" Alexx winked, and placed one finger on her lips as if to say, 'shhh.' The slender girl repositioned herself so she was sitting next to Shanks, facing the dark waters. She had totally ignored Adina earlier, but now it seemed this was going to be impossible since the mouse-girl looked as though she was close to exploding. ~ Adina Her face turned red as she tried to keep the flurry of words inside. Finally, she could last no longer and the words burst out. "Alexx! DO YOU LIKE MISTER? MISTER SHANKS? DO YOU LIKE ALEXX? ARE YOU TWO GUNNA GET MARRIED AND HAVE KIDS LIKE ME? IF SO, CAN I BE THEIR AUNTY? HOW DID YOU MEET MISTER SHANKS, ALEXX? CAN I BE YOUR FLOWER GIRL?" Alexx simply rolled her eyes. Trust Adina to break any moment there had been. Suddenly realizing how rude her questions were, Adina's mouth snapped shut. After a moment she hesitantly opened it again, "Sorry." she whispered. Honestly, for a fourteen-year-old, Adina was really kid-like. [/blockquote][/blockquote]

I'll come for you,
Blink. 'Dammit. I feel like a toy, but I think... I don't mind.' Shanks's mind swirled. The kid's explosion of questions hadn't helped very much with his headache, either. Did he like her, Did she like him, Were they gonna get... what? Married? How many questions did this kid keep inside her? Did she play 20 questions when she was smaller or something?
'Urk. Uh, Alexx? Who's the ankle biter?" Shanks asked, now sitting. His face still held almost the same shade of red, but it was fading. He was looking at her with one eye, the other covered by messy hair.
'Wait. Shh? What did 'Shh' mean? God. Women were hard to understand. So were men though, so it was a Touche relationship. Ohh well.' Shanks though, still pretty exhausted.
Sighing, he stood up. "I dunno kid, and sorry, No flower girl." Shanks said, ruffling her hair a bit, then walking over and sitting on a log of driftwood. He brushed the sand off his jeans, shirt, and arms, then dusted out his hair.
The motion wasn't one to get away from Alexx or Adina; he might as well have some company. He just didn't want to sit on the sand anymore. The log was more than big enough for tiny Adina and slender Alexx to fit on, with plenty of extra room.
"Hey, Kid. There are some rocks with little crabs under them over there, if you wanna see them." Shanks pointed to a pile of black colored rocks, rounded and smooth from being tossed and turned in the ocean then washed up on shore.
He looked at Alexx then. His face was now just a jery light shade of pink; his mind had wrapped around the kiss, and he accepted it, and he really didn't mind. He couldn't say he didn't like it, after all.
"So you got stuck babysitting, huh? Must be tiring. Taking care of a kid like that. I work at the bookstore downtown, all I have to do is tell people how much their book costs and put the money in the machine. Seems like a lot more effort taking care of a kid." Shanks said, just trying to spark up a conversation. He didn't care if she talked about something else, he was fine talking about anything.
A huge wind whipped through, nearly knocking Shanks off the log. Some wind. There must've been some sort of tropical storm coming or something. It was far off, just close enough that they were beginning to feel the effects of it.
"Well this sucks. Looks like it's gonna rain. Guess we'll have to cut this date short, huh?" Shanks chuckled. He had been joking, but he had no idea how seriously she'd take his comment. He was unreadable sometimes, as it was.
...but only if you told me to.

~ Adina Hmm...Mister Shanks looked like he was drunk. Adina's mama always told her drunk people were mean and should be stayed away from. Adina edged away from him and sorta hid behind Alexx's sitting form. She jumped a bit when he sat up, and spoke, "Urk. Uh, Alexx? Who's the ankle biter?" Ankle biters? Adina jumped and looked around her feet. There was nothing there? What was this weird guy talking about? The normally talkative Adina was silent. Maybe he was going crazy and seeing things?
The weird mister stood up, brushing sand off of his jeans. Adina didn't move as he sighed and ruffled her already messy hair up. "I dunno kid, and sorry, No flower girl." "Aww..." Adina really had wanted to be allowed to wear a gorgeous dress and walk down the aisle of a church carrying flower petals. Too bad. Adina's big, childish eyes followed Shanks as he sat down a log a short ways away on a log. He dusted sand out of his hair casually.
"Hey, Kid. There are some rocks with little crabs under them over there, if you wanna see them." "REALLY?" Adina exclaimed. After looking at Alexx for permission, she ran of in the general direction that Mister Shanks pointed in. She was gunna find them crabs if it killed her. Well, as long as she didn't run into any ankle biters.
~ Alexx "Ugh..." Alexx sighed as Adina scampered off. Now of all times the kid decides to ask for permission to somewhere. It would have been nice if she had done that before. "The ankle biter is Adina. Hyper little thing. Also doesn't know how to shut the heck up." Her light blue eyes flickered shut and she pressed her index and middle finger to her head as she silently reordered her thoughts. Eyes opened to reveal how the starlight reflected in them. Alexx pulled herself to a standing position, and waltzed over to where Shanks was sitting. With a small sigh, the slender girl sat, leaning into Shanks in a comfortable way. She closed her eyes again, and breathed out. It was always so comforting to have a guy by your side. Eyes stayed shut as Shanks spoke again, "So you got stuck babysitting, huh? Must be tiring. Taking care of a kid like that. I work at the bookstore downtown, all I have to do is tell people how much their book costs and put the money in the machine. Seems like a lot more effort taking care of a kid." "Isn't that the truth? Meh, I suppose it really doesn't matter. I'm not cut out to work. I never have been, never will." Alexx shivered as the wind nearly knocked both her and Shanks over. She instinctively slipped her arm into Shank's to help steady him, and herself. She clutched his arm and squeezed her eyes shut even tighter until the wind had left. Goosebumps were raised on her arms and legs and it was slowly becoming colder. "Well this sucks. Looks like it's gonna rain. Guess we'll have to cut this date short, huh?" "I guess so." Alexx replied, "We should do this again sometime." A coy smile curved Alexx's lips. She was fairly certain Shanks had been joking, but she wanted to see him again, so hey. She would take this seriously. "ADINA! C'mon we're going home!" As Adina came running over, Alexx turned back to Shanks. "Adina's mom should be here to pick her up any minute now. After that I'm free..." She ended, suggestively - though not in the perverted sense you may be thinking. That could come later. [/blockquote][/blockquote]

I'll come for you,
Shanks watched the girl, Adina, scamper off to find the crabs he had told her about. He hadn't known about them because he had seen them, he knew they were there because they were one of the only other scents her could make out besides Salt. And, of course, Fish and Seagulls.
"The ankle biter is Adina. Hyper little thing. Also doesn't know how to shut the heck up."
"Yeah, I don't know many kids that know how to shut up. Even Damien jabbers on about things sometimes." Shanks laughed, agreeing fully. Children were innocent, well, except Damien. He was guilty. Always. No exceptions. All the children besides Damien were innocent though... for the most part.
Shanks didn't object as she walked over and sat by him- he didn't own the beach or the log, so he really didn't have the right to mind anyway. She leaned on him, and she seemed pretty comfortable. He looked down at her, his expression blank besides the light blush on his face. He was beginning to get used to being overly touched. Most people stayed away from him, and Damien had never been a touchy feely type, so, he hadn't gotten very much contact from other people.
"Isn't that the truth? Meh, I suppose it really doesn't matter. I'm not cut out to work. I never have been, never will." "Is that so? I live on my own, I always have. I had to learn to make money somehow, and working even a minor job like mine seemed to be good enough. It pays the bills and pays for gas, at least. And I eat- one way or another." Shanks told Alexx, a light chuckle on his breath, a small, crooked smile on his face. Memories ran through his head like small, independt camera flashes and photos, and went by just a quick. They were fragmented; he didn't care to remember a lot of things about his childhood. Especially his really young years. He remembered one time in particular he had to kill a dog, just to keep from starving. He hadn't wanted to, god forbid it had come right down to it, but in the end, instinct had won over rationality.
When the huge wind had torn through the beach, Alexx clung to Shanks's arm. That, was definitely something he wasn't used to. Fighting, he was good at, relationship, ehh... not so much. He tried his best to stay cool and relaxed, and keep them both on the driftwood. It worked, and neither of them fell.
"Adina's mom should be here to pick her up any minute now. After that I'm free..." "If you don't have a ride, I can take you home. Or wherever, if you don't feel like going home. I've got a Motorcycle, though. If you don't like them, we could always walk." Shanks said coolly, calmly. He gestured over to the black Motorcycle that was parked on the sidewalk near the sand; she was in good condition. If nothing else, Shanks loved his motorcycle. It was his one means of escape from the city; his only transportation besides his feet.
"I only have one helmet though, and it's not very girly. I won't make you wear it if you don't want to." Shanks told her, beginning his slow stride towards the black Motorcycle.
...but only if you told me to.

~ Adina
Adina poked around the mossy rocks, ignoring the wind as it slowly grew chillier and chillier. She carefully lifted one heavy rock after another until she found a little red crab. With a tiny squeal of excitement, the mouse shifter grabbed at the grab - only to receive a reproving pinch. With a small cry, Adina fell back on her butt and blinked back tears. 'Dumb crab. Why did it pinch me? I only wanted to hold him!' With a small grunt, Adina picked herself up, wiped the tears from her eyes and continued searching.
Finding another crab, she carefully picked it up right behind it's pincher so she could get a good look at it without being pinched again. When a car horn honked, Adina nearly dropped the crab. Looking up, she recognized her mom's grey car. The girl carefully set the crab on the ground, and even more carefully set the rock back on top of it. She wanted to make sure she didn't crush the poor thing. Who knew, it could even be a shifter, just like her, and Mister Ian. The horn honked again, and Adina ran towards her mother's waving arm. She glanced over her shoulder to see Alexx was still with Shanks. Reaching the edge of the parking lot, Adina sat down to pull on her shoes and socks, totally ignoring the multitude of wet sand that clung to each foot.
~ Alexx "Yeah, I don't know many kids that know how to shut up. Even Damien jabbers on about things sometimes." Alexx coughed softly at the reference to the creepy cat shifter that nearly killed her before. Swallowing her hatred, she smiled at Shanks, enjoying the sound of his laugh. With a soft sigh, she snuggled closer - if that were even possible. He didn't seem to mind her cuddling with him, though that soft tinge of pink still stained his cheeks. He was so adorable. In fact, Alexx was beginning to feel slightly protective, or maybe it was possessive, of Shanks. Whatever it was, she was really starting to get used to being around Shanks. The slender girl was broken out of her reverie when Shanks spoke. "Is that so? I live on my own, I always have. I had to learn to make money somehow, and working even a minor job like mine seemed to be good enough. It pays the bills and pays for gas, at least. And I eat- one way or another." With a light laugh Alexx responded, "In a way I'm jealous of you." Jealous? Where had that come from? "You don't have to rely on anyone else. You can depend on yourself. Let's face it, without my daddy's money, I'm nothing." Ew. Since when did Alexx get so down on herself? She didn't really feel this way, did she? Feeling uncomfortable with the way she had turned the conversation, Alexx changed the subject, "Eat any way you could? My, my my. You're a hunter aren't you?" Instantly feeing more at home with the playful banter, Alexx relaxed. "If you don't have a ride, I can take you home. Or wherever, if you don't feel like going home. I've got a Motorcycle, though. If you don't like them, we could always walk." Alexx's baby blues widened, "Are you serious right now? I love motorcycles. You have to show me your ride." She finished with a coy wink. Just then, a car horn sounded, and Alexx had a mini heart attack as she wondered where Adina had gone. Seeing her tiny brown head pop out over the rocks, Alexx heaved a small sigh of relief. "Thought I'd lost her there for a minute." She said, with a small giggle. Alexx stretched her long, tan legs quickly before striding over to Adina's mother. "I trust Adina wasn't any trouble." "Oh no ma'am." Alexx replied, with a small grimace in the general direction of the mouse-shifter. Adina crawled into the back seat of the vehicle and waved exuberantly at Alexx. "BYE ALEXX! SEE YOU NEXT WEEK!" Alexx smiled politely and waved. "Bye Adina." After she was paid, and the car had pulled away, Alexx turned back to Shanks. "I only have one helmet though, and it's not very girly. I won't make you wear it if you don't want to." With another flirtatious wink, Alexx replied, "If I hang on tight enough I won't need a helmet." She slipped her flats on and then walked over to the motorcycle. She walked around it, trailing her fingertips on the smooth polish. "It's gorgeous."[/blockquote] M U S E: 3 T I M E: one hour, seven minutes C O U N T: five - two - three I N S P I R A T I O N: fifteen by taylor swift N O T E: i wanted darker colors, lol. just pick a random place to take them...if you were alexx, where would you want a gorgeous guy to take you? I'll come for you,
Shanks noted not to bring up Damien again... she seemed to have a personal grudge against him. Most likely for the incident with the door... She left briefly to talk to Adina's mother, and he stood up, and gave a crooked smile and small wave to Adina as she left.
He had never been really good with kids... though he didn't hate them, they were a bit annoying sometimes. Especially the ones that couldn't be satisfied.
When Alexx came back, he resumed their conversation. "Uh, yeah... I guess you could call me a hunter. Though it's not exactly the normal diet for a big cat..." He trailed off, not really wanting to talk about he ate the cats and dogs of the city occasionally. He didn't make much money, and had no parents, after all.
They got over to his shiny black two-wheeled demon, and she seemed pretty ecstatic about it. What was that? Hold on tight enough? Yeah, that didn't make him feel awkward at all....
"Guh!- Uhm, Yeah. I guess that's true. I'm a pretty good driver, so we won't crash..." Shanks said with a cough and then a nervous sort of laugh; his face was still pink, a deeper shade now.
"Did I think I was getting used to this? Er... I think I was wrong... I'm not good at relationship. God. This. Is. Hard. Just hit me with a lightening bolt or something! My face gets any redder, I'll be able to blend in with a Tomato Growth!" Shanks mentally criticized himself, it was a hobby.
"I hope so. I take really good care of her, and it took me two years of savings from my job to buy her. I got a discount because the guy selling her was my buddy, at least." Shanks chuckled, smiling. He didn't smile often when in public.
He picked up his gloves, which were black with gold accents, and put them on. Then he put on his solid black helmet, which really made his eyes look like they were glowing behind the black fiberglass.
Getting on the motorcycle, he looked at Alexx. Maybe he was starting to like Alexx... perhaps... Nah, Shanks wasn't capable of something like that, he was one of those creatures that would go tell hell just for being born. Ah, oh well.
As she got on the bike, he became intensely aware of her presence, and the blush on his face increased superbly. It wouldn't surprise him if you could see it through the helmet, he felt that bright. Maybe Cris Kringle would ask him to run at the front of his sleigh if he was a good boy? Ha! Fat chance.
With a sudden jerk forward, the bike sped off. Where was he gonna take her? His house? No, that'd make them both uncomfortable. Her house? Hell no, her parents would shoot him with their fancy rifle. Somewhere public... The mall. Girls liked malls, right? Then he'd take her there.
They drove for a bit, and after the long silence, Shanks spoke, "You doing okay back there, Alexx?" His tone was full of humor; but muffled greatly by the sound of the wind and the helmet. He pulled to a stop in front of the mall, the entrance to one of the Clothing stores. She'd like it there, he thought. He had money somewhere in one of his Jean pockets... somewhere... probably. Unless the sea had stolen it when he changed back into his human form.
Kicking out the stand, Shanks got off the bike, put his helmet up, and stuck the keys in his pocket. He shook his head; his hair was still damp from the dip in the sea. It was pretty dry, though his clothes were... questionable. They weren't dripping, but they still looked soaked and covered in sand.
"Uh. I don't think they'll let me in looking like this. I can wait for you at the door, though? Then we can go to a different store that probably won't mind my... Beach as much." Shanks laughed self-consciously, standing in front of Alexx.
'
...but only if you told me to.

[scrolly:h(600),w(425),sy] Fog. Oh, fog was an annoying thing, that it was. It was sense, colorless, and it clouded up the senses. It was like those dark nights, with no clouds, a hidden moon, and fog sits heavily upon the ground. The colorless gas would make your eyes misty and blind you, it makes the world seem like a scarier place to be. A place someone would not want to be. That's how it felt, that's how it felt to have fog cover up your heart, like a vast ocean. It was dark and colorless.
Damien did not like it, not at all.
However, it was not foggy nor was Damien's senses clouded. Though his heart still was shrouded in sadness and sorrow. It was dark just like the night. Well, almost. The sun had just began escaping behind the horizon, casting beautiful hues of oranges, yellows, blues, and purples. The clouds seemed to create a rough texture of some sort, not that he knew. He wasn't an artist.
A sorrowful sigh escaped his pale lips. His hand dropped from his side, left slightly swinging at his side. The still air instantly cooled his warm hand which, before, was held against his chest like a blanket for his heart. The dark blond hair whisked in the breeze. His eyes, half closed, blindly looked upward toward the disappearing colors of the night sky. He watched as the warm hues of yellow, orange, and reds were overtaken by the dark colors of the night, black, black, and more black... with some blue.
Damien's sky blue eyes had lost their warmth, replaced by cold fear and helplessness. He was broken, seemingly shattered behind repair. They were light blue with a dark swath of midnight blue and hardly a tint of white shine. There was no spark, no happiness lit in his youthful eyes. Damien had never had anything to begin with. Sure he had some friends, Shanks... Amber... he closed his eyes from the remembrance. Shanks was like his street buddy. The two talked and hung out all the time.
However, Amber, she was different.
She didn't know what it was like to live on the streets or to have to fight for everything. She didn't care, she didn't take pity on him like all the others. Maybe there was some connection like that she might have known about pity and pity's rules? Yet, back then, he was so happy. Why was he happy? Shanks could be something Amber was, could he? No... it was more than that.
Damien case his head away from the sky and hopefully away from his thoughts. From up top, the forest seemed much wider and more open. From here, he could see the small details of the pine needles on the ground up to the clearings around it. He could see over the tall brush below rather than being lost and confused within its confines. It would have been beautiful, yet it was here that Amber... oh, god Amber.
Just a few days ago he had talked to her and she had been fine and perfectly happy.
Yet again sighing, Damien shut his eyes against the memories of the past. It wasn't like he could bring them back. Leave the lost and dead behind, Damien. You can't bring back her death back... but there was one thing he can do... could do. Who had killed her anyway? Not an animal. She was too smart for that, but the body.. an animal. It had to be. Was it possible it was all gang related? Maybe, possibly, but he was leaning toward probably. He had to find someone who knew something.
Damien never planned to join any guilds or even deal with guild business. He didn't care what they did. Most of the people in the city didn't care for him and he didn't care for them. The guilds left him alone as long as he left them alone. However, now. This was definitely business. Something had been taken away from him that couldn't be taken back. He finally realized what true depression was. Everything seemed to have been ripped from him, with nothing left.
All is lost again, but I'm not giving in.
His mind was in chaos. Emotions he could not place were wild; he felt numb to the core. Through this numbing pain, he could feel a spark of anger. Something that made him annoyed, angry, sad, regretful. What did he feel now? Damien wasn't sure. What he felt was surely the weight of the fog's waves. It was like drowning in the sea of fog, a sea in which he felt numb as if he were drowning in his pain.
He was soon borne away by the waves and lost in the darkness and distance of his mind. Not even the sound of the approaching motor hum found its way to his senses.
