Retz
;; That wasn't about to happen. No sir.
Her claws scored, slashing into his shoulders, but it wasn't as if he didn't have any. His own, thicker, yet still sharp claws sank in as best as he could manage. "Poors Retz and his noble ways. Pity." Her felidae voice rang in his ears, tauntingly. Then those fangs flashed and he saw her face coming at his own. Oh, Hells no! He'd had that happen before, to Cody's jaws during a childhood spite! He was not about to open old scars.
But alas, try as he might, he reared but her jaws still caught. The sound that followed was blood chilling, a cracked cry that split the air like high-pitched thunder. But he knew better; he didn't move, only leaning towards her, not biting back though he could. Pain. It's all he felt now. A burning, numb pain that dulled his eyesight. The sound had continued, and now dulled like his eyes.
And then, Black. Nothing. Whatever was to come, he wouldn't be in charge.
To replace the sudden silence, a snarl ripped out. His jaws, once opened wide to avoid further damage, came crashing down, hopefully on her own shaking upper jaw. Those legs pressed down hard, as if his weight shifted. He'd thrash if a hold was caught.
Feral. That's the only way someone could describe it. His entire mind blanked, and he roared out in blinded fury. Then came the slashing; so unlike a canine to do, those front legs suddenly started an attack, surprisingly sharp front claws aiming to rip and tear at his offender. Feral, those eyes lost all emotion. Feral.. no more then a savage beast.
And yet.
H-Hurts! I remember this! I remember now! I blacked out that day... He died, I blacked out. Did I do this then? I won't remember this... What am I doing!? Noxx, run... get away... I don't...
...please, no...
Aaaand there's the fury of a hyena! The spotted hyena is a vicious breed, known for killing without much need. Though it's usually the females that are more violent, the occasional lone male isn't something you want to come across. Their enemies include most all of the large african cats, wild painted dogs and humans. The. Worst. thing. a shifter could be, if you ask me.

Satisfied in an awkward sort of way, looked around her sorroundings. There was a dead tree not far away that she could flee up. As well as just running in general, but that didn't seem as appealing. Max was out of the battle and didn't seem ready to come back anytime soon. So in a way, Noxx was in favor. Well, in favor besides the fact that she was pinned beneath a rage rendered hyena. Crystal eyes darting back to the hyena's pelt, as he squirmed away from her jaw. If anything you could say it was her signature attack. A nice river of blood going right over the top of her muzzle, released the hyena fully as she attempted to get away.
But quite unexpectedly, she felt claws against her side as she had attempted to flip onto her stomach to streak off. Roaring in unexpected pain, turned her head to bite at the hyena's throat. But his jaws came out of no where and snapped so close to her face that it made her flinch out of the way. It didn't make her happy to be in this position, but even she knew how much her bones could take. Attemping to streak once more, developed a nice gash on her hip from failing claws.
Running towards that dead tree, bounded 6 feet up it getting an airborne grip hold. Pulling herself onto one of the study, think, and dead branches, set herself neatly on it. It would of been as if she was drinking tea. Front paws crossed, face in an expressionless elegant matter, and tail hanging down in a J-shape. Except for the occasional scratch here and there, a blood matted jaw, and a deep gash on her hip. Staring sophisticated down at the dogs, hooked a smile upon her jaw. "Emotion. That's how you win a fight."
Curious to know if Retz would calm down any time soon, looked over at Max. "You ok boy? Hope I didn't scar you too badly, wasn't the intention." Though, it seemed like a false statement as she bent to lick her claws a couple times. "Oi, Retz, sane over there child?" Not preparing to leap down any time soon while the hyena was still in a frenzy, was curious to know the reason beyond the blind fury. Something that could make or break a battle. In a way, you could say that Retz won.

There was nothing Max could do to stop the fighting. His eyes followed their movements while his mind tried to come up with an idea to break the two apart. He was bleeding still, and he weakly pulled off his ripped shirt despite the cold. At least he had managed to shift with his pants on, or he would possibly freeze to death before this fight was over. Max shuddered as he looked down at the claw marks on his stomach and chest. At least they were mostly shallow. Or was that a rib? Don't look, Max thought, feeling slightly sick. His long coat was somewhere a tree, and he didn't dare move to try to get it despite his shivering.
Retz and Noxx were locked in battle, two predators of the savannah. It was like watching a strangely distorted and displaced African documentary. He flinched as Noxx’s jaws closed down upon Retz’s muzzle. It seemed as though the cheetah was going to bring the hyena to his knees and dominate completely. Max held his breath. To try to interrupt might result in Noxx killing Retz outright. The hyena seemed to slow down a little. Max managed to scramble to his feet, swaying slightly. He staggered, then caught his balance and leaned on a gnarled tree. “I...I think you’ve made your point,” Max called out. He was sure they could understand his human words, though he couldn’t make out what they were saying anymore. Not that they were speaking; such a thing would be difficult in their current position.
Finally, something happened. Max’s eyebrows narrowed in confusion. He clung to the tree in utter shock as Retz suddenly lost it. There was no other way to describe it. The hairs on Max’s arms and neck stood up as a spine chilling snarl echoed through the graveyard. A distinctly feral look had entered the hyena’s eyes as the animal began to thrash. Unexpectedly, Max was filled with relief when the cheetah, the supposed enemy, managed to free herself from the hyena’s vicious attack. She did not escape without wounds; Max could see blood all over her golden coat, particularly near her hip. He watched the cheetah leap into the tree, wondering if he should do the same and get out of Retz’s way. Noxx snarled something at him. He couldn’t understand her words, so he ignored her for the moment and turned to look at the hyena.
There was no way Retz was still in there. Or if he had returned, he hadn’t been before. Max recalled a story his ex girlfriend had told him about a shifter who had lost control. He had killed three people before one of his own kind had put him down. Max had always wondered where Sarah got such information, but he had been too involved with her to be at all suspicious. Max had occasionally been a little led by the dog’s instincts, but not much; his animal form was not very aggressive. Seeing Retz lose control had shaken him. He had seemed like a friendly enough guy.
“Retz?” Max said cautiously. He couldn’t outrun the hyena. He was too injured to climb before the animal reached him and tore him apart or whatever it was he might do. Without shoes on, he would cut his feet open on the rocky ground and it wasn't as if he had time to go and put his shoes on while the hyena bore down on him. That left one choice. I need to calm him down... Max was well aware of what would happen if Retz decided to kill him. He would not be able to defend himself. Not even if he found the energy to change forms again. “Retz. It’s me, Max.” He pointed at himself with his uninjured arm, then went back to cradling his scratched one. Not a complete fatalist or fool, Max was standing in a position which allowed him to see Noxx in the tree, and Retz. He was not about to turn his back on the feline.
“There’s been enough fighting tonight.” He wondered what else might get through to the hyena. He glanced at Noxx quickly, and in doing so, he noticed something on the ground. Retz’s discarded notebook. It was just a foot away from him, and very slowly, his eyes still on the hyena, Max moved towards it. He picked it up and held it in the air for Retz to see. “When I first saw you, you were mourning for someone. Focus, Retz.” If Retz was already in control of himself, Max would look like an idiot. But if he wasn’t, his words might well save his life and stop the hyena from doing something he regretted. Not a big fan of my post. :/ Hyenas are not canines by the way. So I figure Max couldn't understand his speech or Noxx's. He might be able to make out the very bare basics of what a dog is saying, or a wolf, or even a fox, but not a hyena or a cheetah. Except some obvious body language, like a snarl or whatever.

Retz
;; Blood. Pain. Fear? He knew he had picked up the fearscent, but from which of the two souls here? Or was it his own scent? The hyena snapped viciously as the cheetah beneath him broke free, mostly unharmed. Blood.
Then a voice, not animal. Human. Human... human....
No. The beastic snarl returned, and he snapped his head over to Max, who was only trying to calm him down. No, he wouldn't be tamed. The voice came again, cautiously.. then a name.
"Retz. It's me, Max."
"M-Max...?" Those eyes, so feral before... reverted back to being normal, if a bit scared. Fear... it was his own scent. "...what..." He waved his head, though painful as it was, and flopped his butt down in the now crimson soaked and torn grass. His jaw was bleeding, torn open. As a result, his words, though animalistic, were gargled.
"N...Noxx...." His head turned and he stared up at the cat, only to spot Max headed for the tree he once sat under. The book came over, and all insanity was lost. His hackles fell back down, those ears fell back and a whine, though muffled, escaped his throat. "....Cody... no..."
And it all came crashing down. His shape changed, and even as, he let out an angry cry and forced himself to the ground, clutching his head in his hands once most human. His form was clothed only in a muscle shirt and his boxers, the very basics of his outfit, which otherwise rested under the tree. The tattoo on his arm was the only thing that seemed untouched.
Otherwise, scars and open wounds.. a thin, underfed figure... was this man really a vicious killer not seconds before? "N-No... Dammit..." Shakily, he looked up again. No tears, but his eyes showed more then anger; fear, doubt, guilt... "..I.. I didn't mean..." His jaw still bled, but luckily something about the shift had taken from that. Or perhapes it just wasn't as bad as it looked.
"N-Noxx... I..." He turned to look up at the cat. Those wounds were deep, and he had dealt them without caring. Without thinking. "...I thought... I'm sorry." Now his eyes travelled between the two, his vision clouded with red. "I didn't mean it. I blacked out... no..."
Why did I do that? Why? I didn't mean to.. I wanted.. I wanted to kill her... but she wasn't trying to kill me, right? His eyes went back to Noxx, who he deemed to be in the most danger when he had lost it. She was the dangerous one at the time. Now, just as injured as Max. "A-Are you okay, Noxx? Will you heal? Can you shift?" Then to Max. "And are you okay? We should find a doctor or something.." His own hand came up to his chin, and then the other to his lower back.
Great. Now my ass has scars... I look like a voodoo doll or something. He felt amusement return as he gave a false glare up to Noxx. Damn cat and her stupid needle claws. "Anyone asks, I sat on a bed of nails or something."
Retz is quick to come out of his frenzy, luckily. Not so much AS a hyena, but once in human form, it basically vanishes. Luckily, it's not hard for friends to calm him down. And MAX is a friend, and he wants Noxx to be despite it all.
As for the canine thing, I'm basing it off what Hyenas are listed as here in Shelpey. I can't remember their actual listing, but here it's under Canine.

Noxx in a tree, with that lovely blood over her jaw and a nice gash on her hip. It stung, and instinct made her want to lick it but stubborn attitude and another, more driving, instinct not to show weakness took over. Teeth grit, jaw locked, flicked her tail back and forth trying to appear as if the pain didn't bother her. Eyes following Max as he stumbled out to calm Retz down. Personally, she had expected him to calm down as soon as she had scrabbled up the tree. Cheetahs, not exactly adapted to climbing trees, had done it rather ungracefully. But all the same, she looked quite nonchalant.
Retz morphed back into a human, and because she was herself smirked at his boxers. These two really were different, she was quite in tune with her shifting. Never really suspecting others not to be the same. But the emotion that seemed to roll of Retz's shoulder made her prick ears in curiosity. Why was he having a breakdown? It was a fight, fair and simple. He kept muttering a boy's name 'Cody' was Retz gay and this his missing lover? But then she also heard her name. Animal shifters not able to understand Human, didn't really comprehend anything else other than the names. This annoyed her, so she started to shift back slowly. Her golden pelt paling up as well as her claws starting to turn dull again.
Apologies to her name were said. It made her scoff, but it was still just an orientation. So what offense should she take from any of it? Retz was a family guy whether he knew, or liked, it. Putting her hand upon the branch, let herself leap back to the ground from the branch. Landing on her two feet, crouched down with one hand out in front to keep her balance. An electrifying bolt of pain shot up her hip, but whatever floated her boat. Straightening up, was in the same clothes that she had started with. Black cargoes, navy tank, black boots, with all of her accessories.
'And are you okay? We should find a doctor or something..' Approaching him, walking normally with teeth still gritted, tank top pulled up so that it didn't touch her wound. It was two parallel gashes that ran from the front of her hip all the way to the back. Deep and bleeding, slightly staining her cargo pants below with the motion of walking. Close enough to touch Retz, scoffed before punching his shoulder gently. "Doctor my ass, I'll ignite black gunpowder in my wounds before I visit a doctor."
It proved that she was fine. A bit battered, bruised, and tried, but all the same satisfied and dare i say it happy. Sitting on a bucket of nails made her laugh, bending down opened a pouch in her pants a brought out rubbing alcohol, and some gauze and medical tape. Straighten up with the alcohol and a bit of the gauze, started dabbing her sounds with a blank expression. Flinching every time she even touched her wound, and grunting. The pain was unbearable, her teeth started to hurt from all of the grinding and pressure. But all the same, tearing some gauze cleaned herself up very nicely.
Turning to the boys, non-verbally offered to treat them. Not really believing they could take the pain. She liked them, not enough to call them friends but to tolerate them without too many snide and rude remarks. Walking over to Retz, threw her scratched arm around his neck, staring at Max yet addressing both of them. "So children, what have we learned today?" It was astonishing the change in attitude, a smile upon her face even in light of the bloodshed. Maybe it's what had caused the change, something satisfying her inner feline being released. Whichever, it was still only tolerance, not necessarily friendship.

Still clutching the notebook so tightly his knuckles were almost white, Max watched Retz. He vainly tried to understand what the hyena was ‘saying’, but all he could determine was confusion and some sort of inner struggle. He flinched as Retz changed positions, sitting down hard and waving his heavy jaw to and fro. “You’re...bleeding heavily,” Max said, stating the obvious. He was freezing now and still bleeding, but was too distracted by Retz’s horrific injuries to pay any attention to his own discomfort. Woah his jaw...it’s...god... Max’s hand shook. His fingers dug into the notebook, and he felt nauseous. The scent of blood was strong. Retz’s and Noxx’s blood. Mine, he thought, looking down at himself for a second. When he looked back up, the hyena was staring at him again. Then he fell, or so it seemed. Relaxed. Hackles down, body barely able to sit.
“Retz...” Max said again, but the hyena was not a hyena for long. He almost forgot about Noxx as Retz collapsed, his hands cradling his head in a fit of tense emotion. “Let me help you,” he said, but a movement in the corner of his eye made him turn his head quickly, his muscles tensing again. It was difficult not to be on high alert after what had just happened. Noxx had become human again. Max’s eyebrows narrowed, his eyes roving up and down the girl’s form. How...did she shift all those accessories into nothing? Max could shift some clothes, but jewellery never changed with him, and nor did his shoes. His dog collar remained a collar and he generally removed his shoes, or his paws would slip out of them. He had never tried to transform with a belt on, either. With his shirt torn from her claws, all he had left were his jeans and his pet collar and a lot of wounds.
Max tried to clear his head a little as Retz suggested that they see a doctor. He shook his head very slowly, then ran a hand through his hair in a tense, almost frustrated manner. What were they going to do about these wounds? He couldn’t afford to take time off Uni. He had assignments due, classes to attend. “And say what, a bear attacked us?” he said incredulously. “Back off,” he told Noxx as she dared to touch Retz’s arm, his expression hostile, hazel eyes full of cold anger. He instantly felt a little guilty as she wordlessly offered them alcohol for their wounds. Not Max’s idea of first aid, though he grudgingly admitted to himself that it was a good, solid and practical idea to use alcohol on wounds, like they did in wars past and present. And in many other field situations. However, he didn’t trust her. After all, her claws had sliced Retz’s jaw open, and they had caused the stinging wounds all over his own body. His hackles were still up, regardless of his human form. But Max had to admit that this whole situation wasn’t quite the average, every day social situation, and he had to improvise accordingly. He slipped the notebook under his arm and shoved his hands in the pockets of his jeans, wincing from the movement of his injured arm but not complaining.
Instead of snarling at Noxx again, Max kept his mouth shut as she slung an arm around Retz’s neck. Was she playing with them? Or was she being genuine? Max had decided early on that she was mentally unstable, but this sudden change in personality was confusing him. He hovered near the tree, uncertain of what to do, his posture defensive. Eventually, Max started walking towards the other two shifters. He pulled his hands out from his pockets and took the notebook, holding it carefully as he walked purposely towards them. He stopped to lean down and grab the remains of his shirt. Some of the fabric didn’t have any blood on it and was still good.
Let her attack me if she wants. I don’t care anymore. “Alright, what do you want?” he asked Noxx a little confrontationally. “No. Actually. Don’t tell me, I don’t wanna know. We’re going to see a doctor,” he said firmly. “Retz needs medical attention.” Max viciously tore his shirt into strips, his face contorting in agony as the wounds on his arm opened up again. His movements merely accentuated his anger, and he looked towards Retz, his usual compassion returning. “Are you alright? You need me to bandage some of those wounds up? At least hold this to your face. It’s gonna bleed nastily; gravity and it being on your face and all that, makes it look worse than it is. But we should stop the blood flow, can’t have you fainting.” He offered Retz the shirt strips, then glanced back at Noxx. “A bit of that alcohol might help.”
It felt strange, feeling suddenly confident where there had previously been nothing but awkwardness and even shyness, but underneath that lay a hidden stubbornness. Max wasn’t about to let Retz bleed until he fainted, and he nodded at Noxx. “Are you okay, then?” He meant it, too. While there was an inner fear that she might simply choose to kill him, he had just seen a fight horrific enough to give him nightmares, and maybe he was suddenly dulled to the possible danger. Perhaps it was just that his practical side was suddenly making an appearance. “You should both sit down before you faint. Or we can start walking, right now, to the emergency room.” A wave of dizziness hit him as he was talking, but he obstinately ignored it, merely gritting his teeth in pain. “What’ll it be?” I know; hyena should be in the family Hyaenidae, its own category, not the family Canidae. It’s taxonomically classified as a feliform, not a caniform. Interesting, huh? It certainly has a doggish snout, but evolution is not so kind to the human classification system and is often ambiguous.

Retz
;; Thank God you're sticking around, Max... A half-lidded smile was given to the wolf-dog. To the point that he didn't notice Noxx coming over until her fist collided with his arm painfully. He gasped inwardly, reaching up to rub his arm out of instinct. "Ah... watch the bruises, cat."
He gave her a look that was somewhat sarcastic, then he shuffled to sit down, ignoring the pain in his rear from the cuts. Max was silent though, as Noxx offered up the rubbing sting, as he called it. Max went all pouty, and then...
Retz froze as Noxx threw her arm around his shoulder, pulling him into a sort of friendly headlock hug thing. He'd normally be fine with it, not even tensing.. but the movement hurt and this wasn't like two friends being friendly.
Who am I to complain.. It had its effects on Retz, though unexpected. The poor boy went half-lidded again, muscles dropping and relaxing as he absent mindedly leaned into her. Max was talking again, but he didn't seem to be listening.
She's warm. And it's so easy to hear her heartbeat... or is that mine? His mind drifted as his eyes followed, slowly closing as all things came to a close. He was tired, hurt, hungry and now, losing blood. I didn't want to fight her. She wanted to make sure though... and we're not dead, so I guess it's okay now... I hope she doesn't let go, I don't want that. She's warm.. And those unmatching eyes closed. Retz was as good as gone, sleep taking a firm hold over him.
I hope I don't die.
I won't post until Retz wakes up. The sleep he just slipped into is a safe enough one, not shock or anything. Just passing out from a lack of sleep and now, a lack of y'know... blood. If one of you wake him up, I'll post as per usual. I'll only be reading otherwise. xD

Noxx knew how hostile Max was, and part of her couldn't complain. But another part of her was aggravated at his attitude. Obviously he didn't understand her in the slightest, she didn't kill she didn't slaughter, she assassinated. And these two loners were nobodies as well as shifters. So that combination of titles kept them safe, as long as they didn't go poking their noses around. Ignoring him mostly, couldn't help but notice Retz seem to drift off. Staring at his drooping eyes, felt him jolt beneath her as if falling. Catching so he didn't induce a concussion on top of other things, set him gently upon the ground. Who was Cody?
On her knees by his side, flicked away his hair to stare at his jaw. It wasn't pretty, and if he didn't want scaring he probably should see a doctor. Her medical treatment skills were to heal, they weren't plastic surgery. Running a forefinger across his cheek, picking up some blood as she did. Brought the finger to her mouth to taste it. Remember all of these metallic tastes, almost like how dogs remembered scents. Turning to look at Max, met his eyes with a calm expression. Reaching over to pick up the rubbing alcohol, decided to do work on Retz while he was out. Taking some gaze, ran the liquid over his face gently. Maybe he couldn't feel it, or maybe he would wake up. It would make everything so much easier if he just lay still.
Working silently, made his face look decent. Then cleaning up his shallow belly scratches. Throwing his arms up over his head, pulled off his shirt. Gently rolling him onto his stomach, started to work on the gashes on his shoulders and back. Slightly pleased with herself, worked near his tailbone in silence, not really thinking at all. Just curious to know who this Cody character was.
Putting everything away, left Retz on the ground, clean. She wasn't going to waste any gauze on him if he was going to see a doctor for his face. Sighing, ran a hand through her hair. Looking to Max, noticed his wounds. Why hadn't he treated himself? Wasn't it natural to lick your wounds clean for a canine? Or had he watched in silence what Noxx had did. Not answering any of his babbling questions that had spewed from his jaw. What a caring individual he was. "I'll be staying here, probably for the night. Can't leave poor Retzy alone." Blinking with almost clouded eyes, guessed that Max wouldn't leave Retz either. For multiple reasons, she was with him, and he was a 'friend'.
Eyes looking over his wounds, pressed the cloth bandage, and alcohol into Max's hands. He wasn't getting infected on her watch, and if he didn't want to. WELL there were a lot of nice rocks around. There was not a drop of guilt in her veins, but it was just reality. Making herself comfortable, looked over at Retz once more. It was strange to see him like stone. To put herself at ease, moved him onto his uninjured side to let his wounds air out, and adjusted his arms so that he could of just been sleeping. Cocking her head at her crafty-work, made herself comfortable next to his body. Using his shirt as a blanket for herself. The scents not bothering her one bit.
Knees bent, folded her arms across them to rest her head upon them. Not necessarily tired, but knowing that hours of rather dull moments were ahead. Looking at Max, realized that he had never really met a soul like him. How to start a conversation? Or to snap at him to clean himself or she would do it for him. The thought made her smile, as she snuggled up to Retz's shirt. The wind had a cold chill to it, or was it just the decaying and dying atmosphere? "Clean yourself up love. and what's in the lovely notebook of yours?"

Max was so busy glaring at Noxx intensely that he didn’t notice Retz’s failing consciousness. It was lucky the cheetah was standing beside him. Why is she helping us now, anyway? Max thought to himself. His forceful words were, as usual, ignored as Noxx started to clean Retz’s wounds himself. Why do I bother sometimes? He bit that a bitter feeling. She clearly didn’t take him seriously. Max wasn’t overly surprised; not only had she made him back out of the fight early on like a kicked puppy, but his collar only reinforced the whole ‘dog’ thing. Or maybe she looked down on his animal form. Thought him beneath her. Max’s insecurities made him glare down at the ground for a moment, his fists clenched, anger directed inwardly at himself this time. He didn’t make a move to stop Noxx; instead, he lifted his eyes to watch her, feeling displaced. “I really think we should take Retz to a hospital,” Max said again, with much less fervour than he had before. He gave up, but he wasn’t about to leave. Whether they wanted him here or not, he couldn’t just vanish when someone was injured. He let out a sigh and glanced down at the notebook.
I’ll stay until he is either in a hospital or safe in some way, and then I am out of here. Back to college, back to a normal life. Was that what he wanted? It seemed the shifter world was too dark for him. Max knew he would grow bored of his life quickly, but was the excitement worth all of this? Worth being laughed at? Max quietly took the alcohol and the gauze. It was better than a ripped shirt, though he felt slighted that his help had been ignored. He watched Noxx to make sure she was helping Retz and not murdering him in his sleep, then sniffed at the alcohol. He shivered as the wind picked up again, blowing his hair across his face. Irritably, he brushed his hair away and looked down at the notebook. “It’s Retz’s, and neither of us is opening it,” he said. “Thanks for the stuff, I’ll find my coat and shoes then I’ll use them.” Taking the notebook with him, the wolf-dog strode towards the spot he had left the rest of his clothes, his stride broken by the occasional limp. He gratefully grabbed his coat and shoes, then rounded back towards the others.
There were quite a few rocks around the place. Max chose one and sat on it slowly, his muscles and wounds stiff. He put a small amount of alcohol on the gauze and dabbed one of the scratches, trying not to wince out loud. “Fuck,” he muttered before he could stop himself. It stung, but he would live. “Look, I’m still...confused by what happened here tonight.” He looked over at Noxx, his eyes suddenly showing his vulnerability, though he didn’t realise it. If he had, he’d have looked down straight away. He continued to clean his wounds, so cold now that he was mostly dulled to the pain. “Was it a test? Were you testing us?” He chuckled bitterly. “I know I failed. But did Retz? Look, I appreciate you helping us. I just...I’m trying to understand.” Being half Italian, Max stereotypically waved his hand a little as he talked to accentuate his words. “I’m new to this. I’ve only been doing...this...you know, changing...for a little over a year. I’ve only known one shifter before you, and she didn’t explain a lot to me, except the whole...um, twelve hours thing or whatever. So excuse me if I’m ignorant or hostile. I’m trying here.” He felt a lump in his throat. Great, his emotions always got the better of him. He wasn’t about to cry, but his voice definitely had a shake to it. Finishing his wounds, Max shakily handed back the bottle. “Thanks,” he muttered, before gratefully putting his coat on over his wounds and freezing body. ((Max is very insecure. Trying to get that through in his posts, but it doesn’t help that I’m hurrying it before work, uuughhh. Max is only 18 though. He’s going to be emotionally all over the place. I remember that age well, hahaha. Sorry didn’t edit my post I have to run ERRR))

Staring at the notebook, wanted to reach out and touch it almost as if to make sure it was really there. Not trusting her sight nearly as much as her other senses, it was a security zone for herself. One that others really didn't know about. 'It’s Retz’s, and neither of us is opening it' She had just started to reach out and touch it, and sneered at Max's back. But it was just as childish as sticking her tongue out, it didn't mean anything. As Max did his thing, Noxx looked over at Retz, he seemed to peaceful and normal. Quite unlike the hyena that she had faced off. It was hard to visually connect the two at this time. But scars were in her memory, almost as much as his blood and scent.
Max had started to talk again, the insecure thing that he was. But it was entertaining, to educate this young soul. Even though Noxx still found joy in calling him old. 'Was it a test? Were you testing us?' Nodding, pended whether to tell him more about her motives. But he continued on with his own fretful worries. 'I know I failed. But did Retz? Look, I appreciate you helping us. I just...I’m trying to understand' Was it a pass and fail test? Looking down at the body, reached out to touch his mauled face. Something told her that it would heal perfectly fine, but still... he wasn't pretty at the moment. Face pale and all that jazz. Brushing his lips, it was hard to think of this almost corpse as living.
'I’m new to this. I’ve only been doing...this...you know, changing...for a little over a year. I’ve only known one shifter before you...' Blah blah blah blah blah. Did he ever stop? But she preferred this to a dull silence. "Ok... so to start from the top. Yeah, it was a test but not one where you pass or fail i guess. More of, if you're worth my time, if you're worth Assassins time. And both of you are, we're not all blood and guts Maxy boy. We've got youngin's in the guild too, 15 year olds and what not. And I swear they're not in some type of bootcamp to become some super assassin that you see on TV and whatnot."
"I've been shifting since I was five. It only happened out of intense emotion, fear mostly." Not about to go into her past, hating the slave labor that she did for figures that didn't deserve to be called parents. Those were the scars that covered her body, not the fights that she picks. Continuing on, "And your welcome, use the rest if you like. I have a stock. I'm not exactly emotional, it's all raw emotion if any. My apparment is filled with... weapons and... drugs the addictive and the helpful. Stuff like that. A sanctuary, to an outcast all her life." Narrowing her eyes, as if daring him to ask something personal about her.
