((Toki had my permission to pin Danny.))
Just as he had finished with his harsh words, Amber lept in front of Danny, catching him offguard. Before he even realized it was happening, Amber's paws had found their way to the bases of his wings. Soon after, he was slammed into the ground, the pressure of Amber's weight painfully uncomfortable. What the - she pinned me! He struggled angrily at this quick revelation, great wings in a black flurry with the effort. However, no matter how hard he tried, Amber still remained above him, her expression annoyed and angry.
"I'd like to know what happened, but that's up to you two. Still, whatever she did, she's apologizing," Amber then said in an exasperated tone. Danny simply glared at her - her face is awfully close, a part of him noticed - in furious silence. Then, she started yelling. "Get over it. Just accept her apology, that's why people say sorry! Because they don't mean it and that's when people say it's OK!" Her tone was fierce and harsh, her eyes contracted into slits. Before Danny even spoke, she lifted her head, looking down at him as though she were expecting something. Danny simple stared back.
After a few seconds, the raven spoke. "Amber, get off. I'm not going to hurt Susan - I won't go back on my word simply for that." His tone was soft, devoid of passion. His eyes were also calm, and his struggles had ceased. "However..." Suddenly, there was a spark of fury rekindled in his yellow eyes, his tone taking on an edge. "Don't lecture me about forgiveness and apologies and shit. You don't know what happened between Susan and I, so you have absolutely no right to interfere. I will and won't do as I please, and unless it directly involves you, you can do nothing to stop me." With that, the anger was gone as soon as it had come. "Now please let me up. Bird's aren't supposed to lay like this and I think you're breaking my wings."
((Not as long as yours, I'm sorry.))

Unlike what she had expected, Danny blankly stared back at her for a few seconds. Within those few moments, Amber's glare eventually turned into a neutral expression hidden from all emotion, not that she was that angry. Amber just wanted Danny to get over it and get back to what they were doing. Soon enough he softly replied, "Amber, get off. I'm not going to hurt Susan - I won't go back on my word simply for that." His tone was quiet and unlike him and his body was void from any movement whatsoever. For a moment, all was calm. Amber wasn't sure how Susan was doing, but she could no longer feel the shaking body against her fur. Danny lie there without any emotion and blankly peeked up at her while she thought. When she was sure he was finished and meant it, she began to loosen the pressure she was putting on his wing bones.
She stopped and put more weight on his back as he continued. His tone became sharp and his piercing yellow eyes glared at her as he lifted up his short neck as far as he could to look her in the eye. "However... Don't lecture me about forgiveness and apologies and shit. You don't know what happened between Susan and I, so you have absolutely no right to interfere. I will and won't do as I please, and unless it directly involves you, you can do nothing to stop me." He breathed a sigh of relief, evaporating any anger that had risen.
"Now please let me up. Bird's aren't supposed to lay like this and I think you're breaking my wings." Amber titled her head for a moment and glared at him, daring him to do something about it. With or without comment, Amber pulled the pressure off him anyway. She knew his wings were far from breaking point from the amount of pressure she was adding. Birds just depend survival from their wings and they were as valuable to them as a cat's paws were to it. Amber snorted lightly at his comment and muttered, "Birds." She knew he could here it, but that was intended. Amber decided to try to settle their conflict. "Whatever Danny. I wasn't trying to educate you, I'm just saying that you should just accept her apology and get on with your life." Her tone was calm and collected. No use starting another argument. Besides, no matter if Danny was a friend or not, raven's beaks were needle sharp and he could easily pull out her eye. Amber shivered at the mere thought, but settled once more as she was sure she could keep the conversation light.

Danny watched as Amber silently pulled away from him, leaving him free to get up. He immediately resumed his normal sitting position, ruffling his wings a bit. He had misjudged the pressure Amber had put down; his wings were fine, and not even close to breaking. He heard a slight mutter come from Amber, and he almost laughed. Complaining about birds because of MY behaviour? That's not exactly fair to the rest of the avian shifters, he thought with a hint of sardonicism. He kept his thoughts to himself, and instead listened to what Amber said next. "Whatever Danny. I wasn't trying to educate you, I'm just saying that you should just accept her apology and get on with your life." Danny snorted in response. Get on with my life? Right. Again, he kept silent. What was the point in starting another argument?
As silence fell, Danny glanced at the shivering ball of grey feathers sitting on the shadowy concrete. Hopping over - doing it in a very ungraceful manner - he nudged the smaller bird with a wing, recieving a shrill cry in return. "Oh, suck it up," he said in a sigh. "I'm not going to hurt you. I can't. Now get up." He gave her another, rougher shove with his wing, forcing her to unfurl to keep herself from rolling over. She gave a frightened squeak and flew over to Amber in a grey and white flurry. Hiding behind the cat's leg, she whispered, "Is he telling the truth?" Danny shot her a murderous glare in response. "Of course I am! I never lie!" he snapped. Susan hid again behind Amber's leg.

Eventually the silence lifted up again, and Amber shifted uncomfortably on her paws eager to get moving again. She sighed as Danny ungracefully hopped over to Susan. Her surprised cry rang out through the night as he got her attention with his large wing which was larger than the other bird itself. Amber shivered as she imagined a cat with a paw bigger than her body, but the feeling soon left as she knew there were no such cats; not even a lion was that big. He heaved a big sigh and cawed, "Oh, suck it up. I'm not going to hurt you. I can't. Now get up." When she hesitated in the command, he gave her a rough push, forcing her to pop out of her shell to keep herself from falling over.
She must've been more frightened than I thought, Amber pondered when she freaked out from his push. She rapidly fluttered over to Amber, sweeping up gray, black, and white feathers everywhere and yet again settled up next to her leg. Her nearly invisible neck stretched up as she peered at Amber and quietly whispered, "Is he telling the truth?" Amber sullenly nodded just as Danny shot back, "Of course I am! I never lie!" Of course, being Amber a simple roll of the eyes shut him up. With the flick of her tail she stood at full height and summarized, "Well, now that that's mostly cleared up," she turned her head to the yellow-eyed raven and questioned, "shall we continue our little journey across the town?"
Amber silently pleaded that Susan would stay behind. She wasn't sure if she could manage a fight the whole way and the only way out would be if she ran away from the arguing birds or if a faithful friend came to her rescue. Her ears flattened as she let out an exasperated sigh as she waited for Danny to continue on his own path. Does that make me the follower? Maybe I'm just the 'invisible' leader.

Danny silently glared at Susan as Amber drew herself up, towaring above the small chickadee. "Well, now that that's mostly cleared up, shall we continue our little journey across the town?" Her voice seemed to be tight with irritation - this observation was strengthened as she pulled her ears back and sighed. Danny's curiously short temper immediately flared up. Oh, so we annoy you now? Fine then, he thought coldly. Let's see how far we can annoy you before you don't want to play anymore. Saying nothing, Danny jumped into the air and landed on the tree nearby. Bright yellow eyes staring eerily down at them, he uttered a terse "follow me" before taking off down the road and turning a corner.
Susan watched the scene in fear and interest, peeking out slightly from behind Amber's leg. As Danny flew above them, the small bird's head swiveled to follow his path. After her antagonist flew off, she looked back up at Amber. "U-um...m-miss, would it be a-alright if I came w-with you?" she stuttered out in a small voice, looking nervously down at the ground. She ruffled her feathers awkwardly, awaiting the feline's verdict.

Although Amber wasn't sure, Danny seemed to agree and unfurled his wings and lifted into the air. He glided with the wind and ended up on the same tree he perched upon when they came. He stared straight at them like a ghost and coldly muttered loud enough for her to hear. "Follow me." Without waiting for a reply, he yet again took to the skies and flew beyond a nearby building. Amber built her strength in her hind legs, ready to bound after him, but a small voice echoed behind her. "U-um... m-miss, would it be a-alright if I came w-with you? Amber paused in mid-crouch to look at the bird who was sheltered from the wind by her leg. Internally cursing, she sighed and quickly murmured, "If you would like, but I'm not too sure Danny would like it."
After a moment's hesitation, she tersely added, "By the way, you can just call me Amber." Amber began ahead without an answer, she didn't want to be left behind. Somewhere in the back of her mind, Amber knew that Danny would wait somewhere up ahead, but he didn't seem like he was in the mood for now. Amber swiveled around the corner of the run-down building like an expert. The new road caught her attention, she recognized this place. The normally indigo pavement seemed like a dirty black hue in the night. In bounds and leaps she dodged the massive cracks cutting across the sidewalk.
Just as she passed a seemingly vacant alley, a sharp call bounced off the walls. "Amber!" Surprised by the sudden voice, she skidded to a stop, nearly tripping over her own paws, and back up a few paces. Before doing anything though, she called back her midnight companion, "Danny! Hold on a second!" She turned around and easily trotted down the back of the building. I'm sure I recognize that voice somewhere. It must've been a shifter because not many humans would be out at this night. Halting a few steps in, she glanced at her surroundings. There wasn't much, just some trashcans and trash bins and a few cigars lying on the ground here and there. A sudden movement caught her eye, and she quickly snapped her head toward the shadow. A silhouette of a large feline lie before her on top of the bin. It's eyes gleamed in the dark as a loud purr built up. "Amber! What are you doing at this hour? Hopefully not planning on raping anyone?" A soft comforting chuckle rasped from its throat.
((I'll describe him in the next post.))

"W-wait!" Susan cried out as Amber sprang away. Without warning, the cat had taken off just as she gave her approval. Susan took to the air, her tiny wings carrying her along at high speed. She beat furiously to catch up with Amber, who...had stopped? About to ask her what was wrong, Susan let out a quiet 'eep!' when something very, very big and very, very dark lept out. Settling on top of a trashcan, the whatever-it-was spoke in a low, scratchy voice. "Amber! What are you doing at this hour? Hopefully not planning on raping anyone?"
Susan immediately flew out of sight, hiding behind a discarded brown bag. Shaking in fear of the large creature, she peaked out, black eyes bright with her evident terror. Did Amber know the monster? It sure seemed like she did...shuddering, the chickadee hid herself again. She didn't really care what it was, but it looked predatory...if Susan wasn't careful, she would quickly end up as a midnight snack. The thought made her chirp with horror. I don't want to get eaten!
Meanwhile...
Danny looped through the sky, not even the wonderfully cooling breeze easing his temper. He swooped down on the edge of a building, thick claws screeching against the metal. Where IS she? he thought in exasperation. It was absolutely impossible that she had gotten lost - he didn't go far enough for that! He dove into the air again, trying to relieve his restlessness. He was strangely impatient and ill-tempered that night, probably because Susan. He vaguely wondered what had become of her; did she go home like she should have, or was she tagging along with Amber? He landed on the building again and waited, trying to calm his anger.

Amber rolled her eyes at her long-time friend. Sighing at his expense, she mewed, "Oh yeah," her comment dripped with sarcasm, "And you know what? You're my first victim." The shadow stepped back in a mock flinch and lazily bit back, "Ouch, that hurt." The silhouette slowly stepped out of the darkness, it's eyes gleamed with amusement. The largely built body, shined goldenrod under the moon. The cat's thick unkempt fur hung limply from its body. It's long thick, black-spotted tail simply flowed behind its body with a strong hook at the end as it copied his movements. His body shone gold with obscure murky black spots dotted all along his body. His long, quill-like whiskers twitched with contentment.
The ocelot crouched on its back legs in a midway stretch and bounded off the trash bin with a grunt. Debris scattered like a cloud as the feline nimbly landed on the ground. Not surprised in the least, Amber didn't even blink, she just stared at him while he let out a big yawn. Circling around the smaller cat, the ocelot went straight to the point, "So, what is Miss Amber doing out late at night." Not even bothering to his games she tersely responded, "I was exploring. What are you doing, shouldn't you at least be at the restaurant. My offer still stands." He knew very well what she meant, but the ocelot didn't comment. Instead of he ignored her question and went on, "Exploring? You've lived at Shelpey Alley all your life. You don't need to explore. Come play with me, I'm bored." Amber sighed at his ignorance and informed, "I know that, but I'm with a friend."
At this news, he perked up his ears in interest. "And what friend would that be?" Amber shook her head and scolded him, "That's none of your business Damien." Amber didn't want to wait while he thought this through, "Anyway, why I need to get back to him. Why did you call me anyway." A little annoyed by the fact, she swished her tail across the ground. He blinked in confusion at her until realization crossed his mind. "Oh! I was wondering what you were doing late at night, duh." He rolled his eyes, that was the first thing he had asked. Amber dropped her head and sighed, and turned to leave until he stopped her. "Wait, since I'm bored." He paused, what if Amber didn't want him there? Shrugging it off, he knew he would come anyway, "Can I come with you? I can protect you from any bad people." He raised his eyebrows up and down sticking out a bright pink tongue at her. Amber rose to leave, "Whatever."
