Noxx, feeling mildly accomplished as she chewed the last bit of bloody meat in her hand, could still taste Retz even through the raw material lavishing her tongue. Aware of what the hyena was doing, knew how struck he must be. But there was no disgust, revulsion or dislike. He had kissed her back after all. Smirking, licked her palm steadily cleaning it of blood and precipitation from the meat.
Max went on to compare how similar shifters were to humans. As he did so, her crystal eyes narrowed. How could he compare us to them?!?! It was absolutely preposterous! It was only by a slight misfortune that they shared the same similarity of a body, it didn't mean that they were anything alike. Leaning forward, with almost a dangerous aura spoke gently. "Learn to tell the difference between the species of shifter, and the species of human." Leaning back against the couch, crossed her legs and went on as if nothing negative had ever happened. "Maybe so, but they're destructive with no motive. Where as I, for one of a better example..." cocking her head towards Max, "Have a motive, a good damn loyal one at that."
Turning to Retz, gently brushed his hand with her own and asked quite nonchalantly, "Beer? I can smell it on you, sober hound." By smell, she meant how old and pale the scent of alcohol was on his breath. One of the first things she registered when she had kissed him. Her observations were something that kept her alive as an assassin, with or without the guild. Standing, didn't head for the kitchen but for her own bedroom, giving the duo some time to talk alone if they saw fit.
In her room, rummaged through a mini-fridge only a couple feet tall. Multiple things lay in here, most of them illegal. Grabbing three beer bottles, did a quick count of what was in the min-fridge. "Sixteen... running low." Standing, glanced out the window at the night's sky. It seemed so lifeless, so still, without any real depth. Seemingly glued to the spot, pondered there for a moment. Oh how the moon and the stars had been her only comfort on those long, hard, days of her past. Those of abuse, pain, fear, and the overwhelming confusion.
Gritting her teeth, growled at the window. It was low and dangerous, having to vent herself somehow. But without too much concern or thought, pivoted on the spot and exited her bedroom. Strolling over to her seat, pressed the ice-cold bottle in Retz's hand, put the second one on the coffee table non-verbally letting Max know that if he wanted it, it was there. In the meantime, opening her own bottle and taking a swig, hoping Retz would gain some confidence once he was back in his realm of addiction. Her mild signs of hint and affection were apparent, though she continued to address Max.
"So... what are you in your mind. Shifter, or human?" Giving a small jerk of her head, expecting an answer, took another swig of alcohol. Smiling, almost sneering, leaned against Retz's shoulder. Observing, without really seeing. Max was hard to read behind his cloud of insecurity. It was almost cute in an odd sort of way. But did it really concern Noxx? No, not really, it just gave her something to think about during the response and the silence. "Do you have a place to stay for the night? That is to say, you suitable to go to your own safe... errr... house. Don't need me to hold your hand do you?" Smug and smiling in the closest thing to humor the duo had ever seen in this cheetah, took another swig. Enjoying herself for all it was worth.

Retz
;; He continued to watch on absently, his eyes darting between the talking people as each spoke, but never really hearing them. It was human-versus-shifter babble to him, since he knew which side he was on and didn't care about anyone else's opinions. As far as he cared, he was right when it came to siding with the shifters. Humans were too many and too dumb to be pitied.
He swallowed down the rest of his meat and gently licked off the small amount of blood, and put his hands down onto his lap in time for Noxx to catch his attention.
"Beer? I can smell it on you, sober hound."
He forced a small smirk, and nodded. He watched her go, then turned to Max hesitantly. "You okay, dude?" His own voice was cracked, crisp like he had just woken up from a bad sleep. Retz felt horrible; Max had not only been ignored alot, but he was now the weakest link in the room. Torn between siding with humans and shifters, not trained well to shift to and from his animal form, unused to the ideas of it all... Like I was as a kid. But now there's no innocence to cure the doubt.
Noxx came back in after a bit, looking just a bit miffed over something. Instantly, concern bubbled into the hyena's throat, but he denied asking what was wrong in fear of butting into personal business. Instead, he took the bottle and popped it open, taking a swing and leaning into the couch again. It stung; the inside of his mouth must've had cuts, cause the alcohol going down his throat burned, not like beer should've.
Noxx asked her question, and having not paid much attention, it caught his ears as a sort of spoken-to-no-one thing. He looked over as she leaned on him, not reacting badly this time, and remained silent, in hopes it was meant for Max. He did, however, not-so-sneakily looped his arm over her own shoulders if she let him, pleased that he could do so without being maimed.
Her next question came, referring to a 'safe house'. He blinked at her joke, an amused smirk and a half laugh choking out. "I was going to rent from Max's building this week, hopefully. Normally I just duck in under a bridge or overpass and sleep there at night. I haven't had any luck finding a place since I came here..." With a shrug, he took another (burning) swing of his beer, holding back a 'hiss' of pain as it stung its way down his throat again.
He leaned his head over to her own and smirked down at her mischeviously. "So unless you want company this fine evening..." Testingly, he paused for a reaction to his almost seductive but mostly flirtatious tone. Then, he continued, leaning his head back up and looking over at Max. "Then I think I'll just follow the little lost puppy." Sticking out his tongue, he grinned over at his friend, hoping to lighten the mood.

Noxx’s response to Max’s challenging questions was nothing short of what he expected from her: defensive. He didn’t lean back when she put her face right up to his, even though the smell of meat on her breath made him feel slightly ill. One eyebrow rose at her comment. “Are you serious?” he asked her incredulously. “What’s what I said got to do with telling the difference between shifter species? My ex girlfriend was a lioness. She didn’t eat raw meat in human form, so I’m gonna deduce that not all cats do what you do. I mean, sure, her family? It was a bit quirky. They went on runs and stuff together, when they could. But they paid their taxes and they lived in a large house in the city. Last I checked, cats and dogs...and hyenas,” he added, nodding in Retz’s direction, “don’t use guns or refrigerators.” Finally, he leaned back in his seat, no longer able to take the scent of meat, but also because he’d finished what he had to say. He did, however, look slightly miffed. He didn’t agree with her sentiments at all. A shifter still had human instincts, and many human wants and desires. Instead of arguing, he folded his arms, chewing his lip, his eyes containing a very stubborn glint which he cast at the carpet.
Max’s eyes followed Noxx’s exit from the room, then rested on Retz as the hyena asked after his wellbeing. He nodded and shrugged. “You?” He knew a shrug wasn’t a proper answer, but he didn’t feel like talking about how he felt at this moment in time. Not only that, but Retz had just had a rough time of it and needed a rest. Not that he looks as though he’s had a bloody tough time of it, he thought, looking back at the carpet again. Wow. Not a spot of dirt. He was so focused on the carpet that he missed Noxx’s ‘moment’ by the window until she growled. It was a strange sound, coming from a human girl’s throat, but it was still one which made the hairs on his neck and arms rise. By her abrupt change in body language and avoidance of any explanation whatsoever, Max gathered it was best to stay quiet on the matter. Clearly, Retz had the same idea.
“Thanks,” said Max, taking the beer. It wasn’t as if he was a rebel, drinking at eighteen. He’d gone back to Scotland just recently and over there, eighteen was the legal drinking age. Max was of the opinion that it should be the same in America, so while he drank occasionally, he kept his actions discreet; it was a sentiment echoed by his parents. Two cartons of milk hid a small supply of beer in his fridge at his apartment and his father always had something new for him to try at their place. Provided he didn’t drink to excess, they didn’t care. Taking a swig of his beer, Max frowned at her next question. “I don’t really know how to answer that,” he said bluntly. His hazel eyes had turned a golden colour with flecks of green in the light of her home, and they studied her carefully as Retz slung an arm around her shoulder. Hopefully, Retz's move would distract her away from her questions, which he was sure were either meant to make him uncomfortable or start an argument; both were situations he wanted to avoid. Beneath his intense stare lurked a bit of anger.
Max finished his beer rather quickly. He watched the two flirt, wondering whether he should actually just get up and go for real this time. He forced a brief smile at Retz’s humour, though Noxx had killed any hope of his good cheer returning. “I should go,” he said, standing up. “Um...where do you want this?” He held the bottle up. “I mean do you just throw it in the bin, or recycle...” His politeness, it seemed, was unwavering tonight. His decision to leave was based on what he thought might be a budding romance between the two other shifters, and an unwillingness to answer any more awkward questions so she could mock him. “Thanks for the hospitality. Retz, um...I guess I could leave you my number, you can just ring me when you’re ready, I’m sure I can still help out with a reference.”
Leaving it to you guys whether you wanna tell Max to stay there or let him leave. I don’t mind either way. Can always start another thread saying it’s later if either of them run into him again...or ask him about the assassins thing, I dunno?

Retz accepted her movements, as she did his. His head moving around to mutter those words to her. A smirk of a smile appeared upon jaw, as she gently pressed lips to his cheek. Would he stir; or still be afraid to proceed? It all all up to this cute child. But with slight reassurance let her hand gently touch Retz's hand, on the arm that was around her shoulders. Crystal eyes on Max, wondered why this boy was so determine to stay defensive for the humans. Was it that maybe his parents were humans, therefore his standards were beneath her own. Hoping to agrivate him, maybe even provoke Max, asked in a quiet tone. "So what's your purpose?"[/b[ a shifter with no guild, with no motive, and with equality in mind had no purpose. Not to Noxx.
Oh no, she could be the Hitler of shifters and she wouldn't care. As far as she was concerned, humans were the jews and needed to be exterminated. She had her purpose. Part of assassins, a trained killer, a killer for the guild, her family. It could be all part of a ploy to put this feminine being into power, but it was nice living all the same. Max stood up with his beer bottle, asking where to put the glass. "Just leave it." She had no intention of keeping him here, or Retz for that matter. If they wanted to go, they could go.
Shifting her weight on the couch, pulled her knees up so that she would basically hug them. A mock innocent expression upon her face as she watched Max go back and forth with their conversation. Leaning into Retz, with his arm still around her shoulder, wondered of he would leave as well. How boring it would be if he did. Phone numbers? What the hell... did these boys actually have phones? Noxx didn't, and if you looked around the room that was one of the obvious things absent, a telephone. So in a way, it was mildly amusing to watch them going at it about telephones as she was her innocent self, curled up against Retz like a lost puppy. An act, deceiving, a play.

Retz
;; Max announced his leaving, offering a phone number, whilst Noxx got cozy. A kiss, and Retz found himself smiling rather cutely, leaning towards her a bit more. "Alright. Leave it on the table or something, I'll call you tomorrow."
His eyes closed, the, strangely enough, his left, blue eye opened and he glanced over at Max before he left his range of vision. "I think I'll stay a while longer at least. I'm not done my beer, and I probably should get to know more about the guild." A slight change in his accent would've been noticed, like a brittish undertone was added on.
Closing his left eye, opening his right, he'd grin and lean to give Max a full on look. "Might you check what apartments are open in your building? See if there's a second floor one up for grabs." Both eyes open, and he flops back again, groaning in a mixture of tireness and displeasure.
Then he'd wait until the boy had left before opening both eyes to glance over at Noxx. "It's been a lovely night, hasn't it?" Drop-dead sarcasm. "Don't suppose you mind if I crash on the couch? I don't think I feel up to the walk, and Max's place wasn't a good choice; boy needs to clear his mind I'm afraid." That accent snuck back in, loosened up by the alcohol. It was sleek toned, not pompous or snoddy.
I don't mind the chance to get to know Noxx better, either. She's certainly mysterious enough. I wonder what's hiding behind those silvery blue eyes of hers? Taking a swig of his now almost gone drink, he zoned out a bit. Events today include mourning Cody, Gods bless him. Then I got to meet Max, the poor innocent guy that he is. A shame he's brought into all this. The guy never got a choice... Maybe I should've let him leave. Noxx came, tore me apart... still hurts, but I guess she's made up for it. Girl's a damn good medic, if I do say so myself.
A note: Retz' accent is sadly from my forceful imagination. He picks it up naturally if he's not sober. One beer didn't make him drunk or nothin', but it loosened him up. Not to mention the pain killers and exaustion. xD

Max growled slightly as Noxx’s question. He narrowed his eyebrows, staring at her, his expression thunderous. “Listen, I have plenty of motivation. I like to help people. So I’m studying hard to get a degree that will allow me to do that. Are you telling me that I should frown on what I’m doing, helping others, so that I can fit in with your stupid shifter ideals?” Max was angry now. There was no doubt about it; his muscles tensed, his posture becoming defensive. The wolfdog slipped his coat on, preparing to leave. Screw her. And screw Retz. I’ve had enough of this little congregation. She’s succeeded in pissing me off. This, he didn’t say out loud; he had promised to help Retz, and while he was more than a little annoyed with the hyena and both shifters’ holier-than-thou, patronising attitudes, he had promised to help Retz find an apartment. And he did not back down on his promises unless something stopped him from doing so.
Glancing at Retz one last time, Max put his phone number down on the table. “If I get time, I’ll look into it,” Max said rather tightly. “Thanks again for the hospitality. I’ll let myself out.” He strode out of the room, but he didn’t slam the door, as much as he wanted to. He closed it gently and stood outside, chest heaving with annoyance. Why the hell were they so adamant that all humans were bad? They weren’t all bad. The girl he liked wasn’t a shifter. He wasn’t entirely sure of that fact, but if she was human, so what? She was a nice girl, she went out of her way to be helpful to others. As Max shifted forms and headed home carrying his coat in his jaws, he mused that he didn’t want anything to do with a guild that endorsed killing as a prime motive. She hadn’t exactly advertised her group very well. The scratches on his body hurt, and he wondered if he had accidentally ripped the stitches out by shifting. Probably. His mind was elsewhere, leaving no room for common sense. He spent some time in the bushes running his canine tongue over the wounds he could reach. They didn’t look so bad. Some of the stitches had held. That was a plus, at least.
Exit Max

Noxx didn't really listen to Retz, but instead studied Max. Obviously she had gotten to him, and eventually he seemed to snap. Arguing about humans how how great they really were, Noxx couldn't help but stare at him with a small smirk on his face. Was he some kind of human rights activist? Not that it really mattered to her, if he wanted to hug-a-human that was his problem, not hers. Just as long as he didn't turn against his own race, his own species for these humans. Watching him go, heard the click of the door and his steps down the hall.
Shaking her head , turned over to Retz. Crash on a couch? Sure, whatever he wanted, whatever... he... wanted. It was strange to see Retz unwind so much with only a couple sips of beer, where as Noxx would normally have to inject herself a second time to get any effect at all with her heroin. It was a dreadful thing having a high tolerance. Why didn't she progress to crystal meth? Who knew, maybe it was that she liked the golden color of the drug. Something as simple as that could change her opinion completely.
