Have you ever wanted to help out on the staff team here on Shelpey? Did you ever want to take on the extra responsibility to help run the behind-the-scenes work that keeps SA up and running? Well, here's your chance. Since its first opening over two years ago, SA will be holding auditions for staff positions. This might be your only chance for a while, depending on how things go.
If you want to audition for a spot, please fill out the following form and reply to this thread;
NAME: The name you prefer to go by on SA TIME ON SA: The date you joined Shelpey; this isn't a deciding factor, but it does influence decision making a bit. Generally, the longer one has been around, the more they understand how the site runs. NUMBER OF CHARACTERS: Just the number of active characters, please. EXPERIENCE: If you've ever had experience running or otherwise staffing a forum, or doing board maintenance. If possible, please include site links. PREFERRED JOB: Perhaps you aren't so great with the face-to-face portion of a staff member's job, and would prefer to work on moving dead threads to the archives, or updating the side tables when necessary. Or maybe you're great with others and would prefer to have a position that has you critiquing and accepting bios. Any of that information can go in here. OTHER: Is there anything else you would like to tell us?
Currently only Support Staff positions are open, but there are likely to be more than one accepted applicants for those positions.
If you want to apply, please do so by THURSDAY, NOVEMBER 18TH. Depending on how many applicants we receive, members will then be able to vote on who they want to see as a staff member. Voting will occur between the time that applications are due, and SUNDAY, NOVEMBER 21ST.

NAME: Rena
TIME ON SA: November 24, 2008
NUMBER OF CHARACTERS: Four active characters, a fifth character that I'm trying to find a good home for >.>
EXPERIENCE: I have very little coding experience, but I feel comfortable explaining the plot and setting to newer members. I understand how a proboard basically works(moving threads, categories, boards, sub-boards, etc). I've been admin before, and support staff on separate boards(Safi/Toki, I'll PM you the links if you'd like. I'd rather not post them for privacy reasons |D).
PREFERRED JOB: Uhhh...prolly a moderator.
OTHER: Qualities:- Active - I'm online and chatting for a decent amount of time each day. Even when I don't say anything, I usually pop on at least once, if not several, times per day. Not only am I active in the activity sort of way, I've also been posting fairly regularly as well.
- Friendly - I get along with just about every member on the site, and I'd like to think I'm approachable. I'm comfortable with talking with both guests and members alike, and don't mind explaining plot and setting to the new members and guests alike.
- Professional - When I need to, I can put aside personal feelings and my dislike for someone to resolve an issue. I can also have a professional demeanor to deal with... persistent issues.
- Tactful - When I have something to say, I don't just blurt it out. I try to phrase it in a way that is not offensive to the person I am saying it to.

@ Rena
Would be good if you PM'ed both of us links. ^^

Could you try to specify your preferred job? It's good that you said what you want to do, but just to put it into a group: Moderator, Global Moderator, etc.

NAME: DeeJay, DJ, or Terenzio work for me
TIME ON SA: Oct 25, 2008
NUMBER OF CHARACTERS: Trinell, Rohjyx, Johnny, and Nikkie are my active ones. I also have Andrei and Djakael, but they aren't in any threads at the moment.
EXPERIENCE: I've helped with a few sites, most of which are Sulf's, and am [slowly] working on my own site with Yarish. I don't have much experience really, but I know how to do basic things like moving, deleting, and such threads. I'm not very good with coding, however. If taught I could be okay I'd think. I also know Shelpey and its plot fairly well and easily talk to both members and guests about it and anything else.
PREFERRED JOB: I can be put anywhere, really, because I have a fair understanding of SA's character standards and can word things so as to not be offending while still offering a decent critique. If you'd rather I move threads, I can do that, too. I'm happy to do anything. I guess if I had to say a group, I'd say Moderator.
OTHER: I'm a generally nice and positive person and I get on well with the other members. If I have a problem with someone, I try to keep it private and solve it without it blowing up. I like to try and keep any serious issues out of the chatbox and threads. I'm on daily unless I'm without internet and I'm trying to be more active with my posting.

NAME: Lore, Loresauce or Loroo, depending
TIME ON SA: Since it was created, pretty much. The account date does lie. Easily two years.
NUMBER OF CHARACTERS: Four, although only two are posted right now and the others are being edited to better represent the way they ended up. Roscoe, Caela, Tabris and Airyll.
EXPERIENCE: I was global moderator on Shelpey for a year and a half, easily. I currently administrate a discussion site with hints of roleplay [Mystic Wish] which has recently gone through a lot of trouble, including moving, so it's required extra attention. I have been moderator of a Pokemon discussion site for a year, and was then promoted to administrator for my activity and the way in which I did my job. This site was alive for five years before the head administrator decided to close it. And, to round it all off, I've been administrator of several sites for the past seven or eight years, dealing with a variety of situations and people and taking up a variety of different jobs. My own forum [Swift Shadows] ran for a grand total of four years before activity dropped.
PREFERRED JOB: Having been global moderator on here before it should be relatively clear that I can do most jobs required of a moderator, with some exceptions. I'm not particularly good with affiliates, mostly because I don't have the best memory in the world so I forget to check back and make sure banners are still up and in the right place. I was called in to critique profiles several times, so I do a fine job of making sure characters coming in are acceptable. I know the plot quite well and would like to think I know a great deal about the processing of Shifting, which we regularly received questions about. I also helped to detail aspects of Shifting including hybrid forms, so I'm very informative and could answer nearly any question thrown at me without a problem. I'm also highly aware of the chain of command so I know if something is above my head, and will pass such tasks on to the appropriate person without trying to tackle them myself.
In light of recent events, people finally came forward and told me they felt that while I had good points to make, I was too brash. As such, I have worked hard to curb this brashness, or "attitude problem" as some named it, and at this point can confidently say I would tackle situations with more decorum then I have done in the past.
OTHER: While not experience as such, I've been frequenting a gaming forum with hundreds upon hundreds of members. Recently this forum went under a huge amount of spam and problem members when the only moderator left and two new ones who were picked were received badly. The two new moderators did very bad jobs and as such the entire forum was up in arms about demanding new moderators. Of the lists they gave of people they wanted to see moderate, I was on nearly every list. Sadly I think the threads were deleted due to the fact the forum was practically in riot and a lot of threads got quite violent, but it's a testimony to the fact that even people who don't know me very well feel I would make a good moderator, and these people felt I would moderate a forum of 200+ well and do a good job.
I'm online every day, even if I don't post or hang around in the chat box, so I'm most definitely active.
I've staffed this place before and am highly confident I could do it again; and do it better than I did so previously.
And if it comes down to a vote, I can only hope that the one and a half years of mostly good staffing and good ideas I put forward are remembered along with the bad times. I'm only human even if I'm staff. Humans make mistakes.
The trick is giving people a chance to prove they've learned from them.

I highly doubt I'll get a spot, but meh. Short, sweet and to the point; who needs to read extra nonsense in a 'resume', right? NAME: Sky TIME ON SA: This Year, Summer NUMBER OF CHARACTERS: Five. EXPERIENCE: Admin on another site, Audisne Ruinam. Volunteer and staff status on various other roleplaying sites, Beekin Helper on Furcadia. PREFERRED JOB: Anything's fine. I love to help however the situation calls. OTHER: People need to post to my threads. ;-; I look inactive.

NAME: Aria DeVito TIME ON SA: Bout' a year and a fourth. :3 So roughly 15 months? Give or take some. :3 NUMBER OF CHARACTERS: Three. Kyo, Kitten, and Tenma. Tenma's been gone to Mexico for a while, but he's coming back soon. EXPERIENCE: Well, I've made quite a few sites before. QUITE a few. 50+, definitely. That's not to say I ran them well, in fact, most didn't make it past the earliest stages of production because I usually gave up on the project or got demotivated because of inactivity. I was on Yusten for 4+ years at least, then before that on a site called Satsuki Yami Pakku, and even before that a site that Lupine[unknown whereabouts] hosted, but soon after I joined the site closed down. That was, what, 7 years ago? Been a roleplayer for a while. xD On Yusten I was part of the Graphics Team, even though I usually helped with some of the admin and moderator things. [You can ask Morke.. I mean, Noxx. She was there. Longer than I was. xD] On Satsuki I was Co-Admin, and I ran things with Winter. Again, that didn't turn out well, since because of inactivity the site was forced to close down. Noxx was on that one too, and can vouch for me there as well. CX I'm currently making an all-creatures forum called Fading Daylight which I'm going to be the Owner and Head Admin at, and plan on putting a lot of time and effort into. Keep in mind though that FD is one of my side projects, Shelpey and The BBA being my main focus. PREFERRED JOB: Anywhere you guys wanna put me is fine! Um. Except like, Admin or Co Admin. Cause. I don't really want that kinda power right off the bat. XD It's not good for my ego. ANYWAY, I'm pretty good with coding, I can remember to do the jobs I'm assigned, I'm very welcoming and overall nice to newcomers, and I'm fine talking with people and explaining things to them. I'm very familiar with proboards, since I haven't ever worked on any other type of site besides SMF, and honestly- SMF is easy. Ummm, yeah, that's it. Cx OTHER: ... I love you all? I dunno. <3

NAME: Spooky
TIME ON SA: Since October 25, 2008
NUMBER OF CHARACTERS: Four
EXPERIENCE: No experience
PREFERRED JOB: I would absolutely love to have a job that involves accepting or rejecting character bios, and critiquing them in general. I'd also like to help out with interacting with the other members, like asking their opinions, bringing up subjects to vote on, and the like. Any sort of up front job. c:
OTHER: Please do not give me a job that involves the coding of the site. I guarantee you, whatever I touch will turn to mud, and the HTML and CSS and any other abbreviations involved with this site with crash and burn in a fiery, painful death, even if I didn't directly touch the inner workings. Code hates me muchly.
