Due Monday (2 days), no late exceptions. The farthest I've gotten is choosing my theme, describing my reasons of the book, cover, and talking about my theme, and 2 poems. :\
Each and every item in your journal must be deliberate. Each idea, decision, and artistic choice must be thoroughly explain din detail as to why you have chosen it, how it links to you, Frankenstein, and the rest of this school year. A thorough analysis is necessary in order to receive full credit. This assignment is about you. You must link all ideas, ultimately back to you and how you have gone through this journey (in English 1 Pre-AP). The best starting place for this Final Assessment for the school year is find a theme that fits you and how you have made this journey (I chose: Time).
1. This is your journal, so find sometime that you really like it order to complete this final assessment. It can be a blank book, it can be a deconstructed book, it can be a magazine that you use to record your reactions. No matter what you use, the "journal" itself if it is not merely a blank book, should carry symbolic weight. If you are using a blank book, your cover must carry symbolic weight.
2. In order to compile this journal, you will need to find at least 3 poems/excerpts from any piece that in some way connect to both Frankenstein and your decided theme.
3. Your journal should also include 5 drawings or visuals that connect to the book and your theme.
4. You must pull in at least 1 quote from each book that we have read this year (7, not including Frankenstein). Also, in order to be successful, you must use at least 15 quotes from Frankenstein. All quotes should be commented upon to clarify your thematic focus for the year.
5. For the final steps of this assignment, you must include a returned assignment you feel best exemplifies your writing talents in adhering to a prompt, thoroughness in addressing detail, and finally, your ability to analyze language.
6. Finally, you must write a reflective statement that shows your understanding of the concepts we have discussed this year as they apply to you. For instance, where are you in your hero's Journey; how do you perceive yourself in terms of whether or not you are an Existentialist; what role do you feel the Nature of Man has played in your life? You must address at least 7 of the concepts we have covered this year within this statement. Your statement may be either the introduction to your multi-media journal or the conclusion. However, no matter at what point you include your statement, it must be thoroughly integrated into your piece.
7. There must be a table of contents or index with page numbers that includes a detailed category of the location of each item that s required to successfully complete this journal.
