I like school Miep decided as she walked silently through the halls to her next class: Social Studies. She especially liked that class. They were learning about sections of Congress and the Senate and the House of Representatives. She'd always wanted to have a seat on the senate. But for now, she remained with the Assassins. One day, She told herself. One day.
She drifted into class and took her seat in the corner near the board. The teacher ackknowledged he with a nod of his head and a small smile as he passed her. She smiled back but dropped it immediately. She never did smile much, just when it was called for. Just like most people in her guild--and probably the rival guild, as well--her history wasn't something to smile about and was something that remained with her always. She was the way she was strictly becase of her past. She didn't talk much, she didn't express a lot of emotion, and she didn't hang out with people much. But on the other side, she was a very trustworthy person and always loyal to her guild and guildmates. Just because she appeared rather antisocial didn't mean she was. She just didn't go out of her way to make best friends with everyone she saw. She turned her attention to the board as the teacher began to write notes.

Tenma sniffed around the school. How could teenagers stand this place? It stunk. It smelled like Cigarettes, blood, tobacco, beer, and all other means of horrible things. Gym socks, too. Eck. Tenma's nose was going to fall off if he kept breathing in that stench.
He shifted, holding his hand over his nose like a mask. He felt sick from that smell. God, why'd he come there again? Oh right. Investiga.. tin.. g...
Tenma staggered, only to catch himself on his arm... on a window. Wonderful. He landed on it too hard, and of course, the glass shattered. He'd cut several places on his arm, and was just sort of looking at it like 'Um... Ow.' He inadvertently licked the wounds, before noticing the twenty or so pairs of eyes staring at him.
"Well, Fuck." Tenma swore, resting his arm at his side, though it still bled and the blood gradually trickled down his arm and fell to the ground in drops. About Ten girls rushed over to the window, frantically asking him if he was hurt. They wanted to know his name, where he came from... some even went as far as to ask for his phone number.
Tenma rolled his eyes. The teacher was screaming at the girls to get away, and making his way over. Oh, glory. The man asked Tenma why he wasn't in his class; if he was skipping, a lot of very infuriating questions that were just making Tenma angrier.
"Old man. Shut up." Tenma said demonically, glaring daggers at the teacher. He backed away, completely unexpected the young man's courage and fierceness. Then, came the girls again. They, once again asked his name and etc.
"It's Tenma. Everything else doesn't matter. I don't go to this school, I don't have a cell phone, and sorry; I don't date." Tenma said coldly, surveying the classroom again for anyone he knew. He saw maybe two faces he could place, the others were strangers. The men looked none to happy for his appearance either, but his appearance is what kept them away. He was strong- and he looked it. The fact he didn't wear a shirt was all the better.
Sticking his hands in his pockets, he stared forward and took a few steps, before he was stopped again; this time by a girl. Shocker.

Miep looked up just as the window nearly exploded on her. And on the other side of the window was someone she recognized from her guild--plus she could smell Assassins on him. She didn't know his name and she doubted he even knew who she was but sicne he caused such a great scene, she couldn't just sit there and wait for class to resume. It's not like it would anyways.
She snorted as all of the girls rushed to the window to throw themselves at her guildmate. As much as he pushed them away, it was obvious to Miep that it was all going to his head. She made a snap decision and, while chaos was still stirring in the room, she grabbed her things and disappeared from the room.
She made a stealthy get away down the hall and out the front door of school. Coming back up to around where her guildmate was standing, she hid in a bush where he would be able to see her but her classmates wouldn't.
"Pst." She hissed through the bushes to get his attention. "Hey, get your half-naked ass over here, dipstick." Miep growled between clenched teeth. She was putting herself on the line for this stuck up guy and she didn't know why. She crouched and waited to see if he'd walk this way.

Tenma strode on, ignoring the sad cries from the girls as their 'man candy' disappeared. What was with human girls, anyway? He heard a soft hissing from the bushes, and turned his head, interested, to look at it.
"Half naked dipstick? The hell." Tenma expressed his discontent in his voice. He bent down and looked her in the eyes, his hands still in his pockets. "What's your problem? Why the hell are you in the bushes, Meip? And I'm not wearing a shirt because I hate shirts. They're restricting and I can't fight well in them. I don't much like these pants either, but I'll take them off if you're that opposed to me being half naked." Tenma said, rising back to his full postured size.
He looked over at his arm with disdain; The blood was staining his pocket. Rohjyx would not be happy if he had to buy him new pants. Neither would he, in truth. He was rather fond of the pants, since they were the only ones he really ever wore.
Looking back at Meip, he saw she was still in the bushes. "What? Are you stuck or somethin'? Give me your hand, I'll help you out." Tenma said, offering Meip the hand that was not bleeding or covered in cuts. He left the injured one in his pocket.

Miep growled under her breath at the Assassin she now recognized as Tenma. Tenma: the overly cocky one. His comments didin't sit well with her and he knew that. "I'd watch your tongue if I were you." She got up and plainly ignored his offered hand. "You're lucky you're not a Thief; I'd kill you right here and now. Especially with that attitude." She spun and started walking away. Without looking back, she called, "That's going to get infected if you don't do something quickly." She wasn't waiting to see if he'd follow her, she intend him to. "Maybe you'll lose your arm." She purred.
Miep thought about where to go. She was normally in school at this hour, so what could she go see that wasn't open when she got out? That was Miep: always trying to take the best of the situation, squeeze every drop of sweet juice she could to get the most out of anything. She decided to stick in town and headed for the coffee shop.
Most people in the city wouldn't be able to walk all around town and know exactly where they were going, or know which short cuts to use. But Miep did, she knew the city like she knew her room--which she spent most of her time in. She'd memorized the city-scape at night, roaming the rooves of the houses of sleeping civilians while she stalked around as a sleek, dark panther. She contemplated changing into her prefered form once she was far enough away from school as she marched away...

"I should be lucky, should I? Like hell. You're the lucky one. I'm a trained fighting dog and I'm not very merciful. You don't know me, but you should be more cautious if I were you, Meip. I'm in close terms with Rohjyx. Not that he'd care if you hurt me, but I follow orders to a pinpoint. If you were on my hit list; you'd be double dead before I finished this sentence." Tenma stated, his voice without emotion as always.
Turning his back to her, he began to walk on. "Puh. If this thing give me trouble I'll just cut it off." Tenma muttered, not perturbed in the slightest at her behavior. He'd heard about all the members; he knew almost all of their personalities and names without ever having seen their faces.
He walked on for a bit, then shifted. He laid down and licked his leg, cleansing it of blood and debris. When he was good and tired of that, he arose to his feet and trotted a bit further. Pain shot up his leg, but he ignored it. A tolerance for pain was needed in his job.
He came out of an alley, standing half in the sun half in the shadow. He was standing tall, looking around wondering what he should do. Then he spotted Meip again. 'She's interesting. I'll trail her.' Tenma thought, padding out of the alley and following Meip down the street. His claws clicked against the ground, and his tail waved behind him. He got odd stares from the street people; giant dogs like him were uncommon on Shelpey. Oh well. Not like he didn't get weird stares when he was a human, either.

As Miep walked down the street, the sun warming her hair to a boiling point, she felt the sensation of being followed, like something was watching her with intent eyes. Being a panther shifter, she always knew when someone was watching her with intent. She walked a little faster but kept her senses as alert as possible. She scanned through the information she was picking up through all five senses.
She smelled...must in the air. She opened her mouth slightly and let the scent glaze over her scents glands in there. Recoiling at the smell of musty dog, she closed her mouth and focused on what she heard. There was a very faint but constant clack-clack of claws behind her, like a large dog lazily trotting after her. Okay, so, so far, she knew that it was a big dog following her who smelled bad. Obviously a shifter. She had a feeling she knew who it was without even looking into sight. But, just to make sure it wasn't a Thief on her tail, she mustered up her strength and let the scent flood her mouth again, and there it was; faint traces of Assassin. God, why was one of the most annoying people in her guild following her? She decided to have a little fun.
She took a detour, all intentions of the coffee sho off. She moved through some dark alleys ways, trying to gain some space between her and Tenma. When she reached the far back of a pitch black alley way, she took off her messenger bag and her coat and dropped them on the ground, quickly and silently shifting into her prefered, furry form. She lashed her dark tail in anticipation for him to come around to corner...
She hadn't had this much fun since before her mother died.

Tenma trotted on, lazily following his new target. Why was he following her? Why not, he had nothing else to do. He twitched his cropped ears when he heard her taking in breath. Now they both new each other were there. It wasn't exactly a secret in the first place, since he wasn't exactly the picture of silence.
The continued on for a bit, before she turned into a bunch of different alleyways. God, she was leading him on some sort of cat walk. He hated cat walks. He was getting pretty bored, but decided to humor her for a few more corners. He shifted while they were in one alley, not catching that distinct 'giant fluff fur ball with eyes' scent before he did. He turned the corner lazily, and walked down it casually; hands in his pockets.
He was then tackled to the ground, a huge cat over him. He hit his injured arm on the ground, too. Now that hurt. He cringed. "Ouch..." He mumbled, looking up at the big cat atop him. "You're heavy. Get off." Tenma growled through his human teeth, which didn't sound very intimidating to a Panther, but must've sounded pretty demonic to any human. If he had been in his dog form when she'd tackled him; she would've lost her nose. No doubt. He didn't like being pinned, and as a dog he wouldn't stand for it. But as a human he really couldn't care less if it wasn't for the fact that she was putting unwanted pressure on his already injured arm.

As soon as she caught the scent nearing she stiffened. Tenma strolled around in the corner in human form. Perfect. She thought to herself. It just made it more fun. He started walking down the alley and she bunched up her muscles and pounced gracefully. They landed with a thud on the dirty ground of the alley.
"You're heavy. Get off." Miep snapped her gleaming white fangs half an inch from his face and swatted his head to the side playfully with a large paw before jumping off. She circled around and sat down next to him, swishing her tail back and forth before shifting back. She smirked at him where she sat.
"Just couldn't leave me alone?" She teased. It was as much fun as she hoped it would've been...just not as fun as an all out fight woul've been; but, she wouldn't have a real fight with him because he was an Assassin. She saved her moves for the dirty Thieves. "By the way, didn't I tell you to take care of that arm? And I mean other than licking it with disgusting dog tongue?" Miep stood up and grabbed her bag and coat and leaned against the wall next to where Tenma sat. She stuck out a hand to help him up. "I'll take care of that, if you want. I know first aid." She offered. She doubted he'd take it but it didn't hurt to offer. What the hell, maybe he'd surprise her and accept, he seemed to do out of character things all the time. Like follow her... "So, why were you following me anyways?" She asked, curious. She waited to see if he'd answer with one of his normal sneering replies that never actually gave you a straight answer or if he'd just be a little les obnxious and answer the damn question.

Tenma didn't blink as she snapped her teeth inches from his face. He closed one eye when she smacked him though, and rubbed his cheek when she got off him. "Nice right hook." He commented, laying his hand on his knees, sitting and looking at the Panther.
She shifted then, and made a comment about how he couldn't leave her alone. "Nope." He said plainly, his eyes wandering to the alley around them. Nothing too interesting to see; a dumpster, her jacket and bag, and some other shit he didn't care to identify.
"By the way, didn't I tell you to take care of that arm? And I mean other than licking it with disgusting dog tongue?"
"I don't do what other people tell me... And besides, I'm a dog; that's how we deal with injuries. There's nothing wrong with it..." He said, looking at his injured arm and touching the scratches. He wasn't used to this form, he was pretty sure he never would be, too. Damn, did he feel out of place. He was apparently abnormal in everything he did... damn, was that an ego killer or what?
He didn't take the hand she offered him, he got up on his own. He didn't mean it in a rude way; he just preferred it that way. He didn't like to have help from others, though sometimes he permitted it. Not often or for just anyone, though.
"I'll take care of that, if you want. I know first aid."
Well, that was certainly out of character. She didn't seem like the type who would care at all what happened to him, especially if his arm got infected and fell off. Just seemed like she'd snicker at him for it. But no; she was offering help. Why not? Go with it.
"If you feel like it.." He said, his eyes still wandering around the alley. He felt uncomfortable there for some reason, but he couldn't place why. He focused back on Meip; who was much smaller than him in her human form.
"So, why were you following me anyways?"
"Because you're interesting and I don't know you." He stated plainly; truthful. He did not lie often, and when he did it was under extenuating circumstances. These certainly were not harsh circumstances. Just one guild member carrying on a conversation with another.
