{Dylan's Ref sheet isn't done yet.. I've lacked the motivation to finish that part, but I'm motivated to post his opening post, so I'll get his ref done tomorrow sometime. Promise! }
'Oooh, a challenge.' An innocent enough grin gleamed pearly white under soft shadows, caressing pale peach cheeks and eyes of the clearest sky blue. It was mid-afternoon, the sun was starting to hang lower in the sky as it sparkled, mirrored in the ocean that seemed to go off into forever. A striped gloved hand reached upwards, tilting the rim of his signature checkered trucker hat up and to the side a fraction, Rays of sunlight making collected orbs sparkle, light reaching the unveiled surface, as their gaze looked straight at his target.
Unusual quiet hovered like fog over the surrounding ambiance, the soft ebb and flow of salty waves washing onto the shore became a soft melody, seafoam splashed along jagged rocks, and if you looked close enough a few fish darted in and out of the current. The old weather worn floorboards beneath the boy's feet creaked as he walked closer towards it's base, where soft sand was left untouched by the cool water, and where the object of his desires sat on an arched Rock, overlooking a tidal pool and what would probably later be a beautiful sunset.
Careful fingers traced delicately over the smoothed wood railing as he paced, seemingly lost in his own thoughts as he got a bit closer. Looking away from the beautiful girl with a practiced ease, his grin fading to a small smirk, cocky confidence flowing through his veins. A soft sea breeze swept by, the soft edges of his faux fur trimmed hood tickling his neck, a few styled Blackish-brown tanned strands of hair blowing in front of his face. White and black checkered sneakers sunk into soft sand as he reached the end, drawing his hands down and into his Black coat pockets, Pausing as he came within talking distance.
Man was she pretty.. her dirty blonde hair sat delicately over her shoulders, The surroundings made her look like some kind of mythical being.. Like a mermaid stranded on shore. He could pull this off, of course he could pull this off. Bad luck was just in the air lately, but this one would be his home run, he could just feel it! 'Time to work some magic.' Brushing the stray strands of hair from his view, he stuck his hands back into his pockets, and swaggered over, a handsome grin planted over his features.
"Hello, Miss. I hope I'm not bothering you," The girl's head turned back to look at him almost immediately, a shocked kind of embarrasing smile planted over her own lips as she braught up a sketchbook against chest as she hugged it. Dylan smiled warmly, nodding toward's the empty space next to where she was sitting. "Do you mind if I take a seat?" With a nod from his mystery girl, he sent a larger smile back, hopping up a small ledge to sit beside her, the overhanging rock only a few feet higher then the rest in the area. Grunting slightly as he sat down harder then he'd wanted to, he took a small sigh as he took a breath. Let the games begin.
Smart one, huh? Stealing a look over as she lowered the book in her arms, he had to say she was quite the artist. Good, He needed an angle. To tell you the truth this was more of a stealthy approach then he usually tried, but with the track record he had lately he might as well not have tried at all. He furrowed his brow slightly, The blonde was glancing over at him now and then but her shyness seemed to be her downfall. No matter.. he could do the talking. he could do it all. And look pretty damn hot doing it if he did say so himself.. Nah, she wouldn't have to do a thing. His smirk caught a bit of a hold through his calm appearance.
Tilting his head to the side questioningly, he looked at her, a hungrier look in his eye then he cared to notice. "So," A seductive tone rang through his words as he attempted to turn on the charm, a coy grin shining as he drew a bit closer to her, leaning his body inwards as he started to speak. "They say beauty is in the eye of the beholder. And may I just say.." The girl's cheeks turned a dark red, Dylan shuffling a bit closer til he was almost sitting on her lap, his face came inches from hers as he finished his line. "You've got this beholder pretty hot." Pulling an arm from his side he drew it around her waste, pulling her even closer towards himself, a smoky seductive grin masking his face, rubbing his hand down her side he grin turned more into a soft smile, his confidence making him a bit too bold.
"PERVERT!" A loud clapping noise hit his ears before the pain, A strong shove forcing him a moment later rolling forwards off of the large boulder. "Ahh!" The View spun, suddenly the sky looked like it was twirling around in a place it shouldn't have been. "Oof!" Landing with a thud, The air was knocked suddenly out of his lungs, closing his eyes he tried to catch his breath. A dark red handprint burned into his cheek. Gasping for a moment, Cold seawater started to seep through his clothing, the shallows of the closest tidal pool not feet away. Great..
WHAT DID HE DO. Was being straight-forward with a girl SO WRONG THESE DAYS? Uhhhh.. Half his face felt caked in the waterlogged sand, wearily he opened a frusterated and wounded blue eye, reaching up his head to feel that his hat had even fallen off, a piece of seaweed pinched between his fingers as he pulled it out of his hair. Great. So much for his homerun. Just when he was starting to get into it too.. Oh well, you had to role with the punches he supposed, and laying around to wallow about it wasn't going to help.. quite litterally at this moment.
"Don't come near me AGAIN!" The Distant echo of running footsteps muffled by the sand dissapeared. Well that went well. A grunt escaped from his throat as he leaned over onto his elbow, pushing himself up out of the mud. Raising into a standing position he leaned back against the rock, his clothing felt damp and uncomfortable. Of course, he had to pick the girl sitting above a freaking tidal pool. His hat was sitting in a puddle of seawater a few feet away, bending down and picking up the tan-stained trademark holding it in his hands for a moment to let it dry out. Waterlogged or not, he didn't like to go anywhere without it, it would be going back on in a moment.
Was there something wrong with him? Was he that bad on the eyes? Psh, no. He was hot, he knew it, and the ladies had to realize it to. Leaning back against the stone surface he looked to the side. The Pier was still silent, the shops and food counters didn't even seem to have any customers today. 'Off day. That's ok.. There'll be others.' With a semi-confident smirk he looked back down to his poor abused hat, rubbing a few grains of caked sand off it's surface before sticking it back over his head. Yeah, off day. Pushing off of the boulder he walked back around, and away from the docks into the more Park-like area just outside it. Freaking off day.
Oh well, it was only a minor setback. There would always be others. He rubbed the angry red hand print over his right cheek. Man did that thing burn.

Trinell laughed as she tickled a few of the little kids that were surrounding her, the sweet and innocent sound that was their screaming laughter making Trinell want to just hug them. They were so cute!
Despite what most people would think, she actually quite adored children and was great with them. She knew how to take care of them and she could very easily get them under control when they got wild or started throwing a fit. Even though she was good with them, though, she didn’t want any of her own. At least, not until she was settled down and had a steady paying job. Only when she was sure she could take care of them properly did Trinell want any pups. And she would make sure they wouldn’t have to grow up the way she did, with a bitch for a parent and having to run around on their own for years just to stay free and happy.
“Oomph!” She huffed, two of the little boys jumping on her back and making her fall forward. “Hey, now! What was that for?” She laughed, pulling herself up off her stomach and bucking slightly, the two little boys on her back. They cried out in joy, laughing gleefully, and each grabbed her shirt and wrapped their legs around her waist, yelling, “Pony ride! Pony ride!” Trinell sighed almost exasperatedly before grinning and taking off in a rocking lope around the other four kids. They were all screaming and laughing and saying it was their turn next.
Trinell only laughed and went around them one more time before crouching down and saying, “Alright, next two! All of you will get to ride so don’t worry.” She smiled at them. The two little boys reluctantly slid off Trinell’s back, their weight quickly being replaced by a little boy and a little girl. Looking over her shoulder at them, Trinell grinned then took off, making them laugh and scream. “Faster! Faster!” They cried, Trinell laughing and speeding up a little bit. “This is as fast as I can go guys. I’m sorry!” She called back, the children too busy having fun to hear her words.
Shaking her head, Trinell turned her attention to the side of the park that could be entered from the beach just in time to see a tall guy in waterlogged clothes walk into the park, nursing his cheek with one hand. Trinell snorted with laughter. ‘Probably got slapped by his girlfriend or something,’ she snickered, bucking once for the kids before stopping and letting the last two get a ride. Their mothers were walking up, all of them smiling approvingly and laughing softly. “You’re moms are on the way guys,” She warned, trotting around a little while longer before stopping and promptly sitting down. The two little girls that were on her back tumbled off and crashed onto each other, both laughing loudly.
“Again! Again!” They cried, Trinell shaking her head and ruffling their hair affectionately. “Sorry but no-can-do girls. There’s your mom’s.” She pointed to the women who were smiling at their children. A collective wail rose from the kids, all of them wanting to stay and play with Trinell. Trinell sighed.
“Alright now, none of that. Listen to your mom’s, okay? I’ll play with you guys again next time you come here.” She said sternly, looking each of the kids in the eyes until they looked away. “Okay, Trinell…” They sighed, lumbering over to their mother’s. The women smiled.
“Thank you for watching them again Trinell. You’re such a sweetheart,” Said one of the women, Trinell waving her thanks away dismissively. “It’s no problem Mrs. Mitchell. I love playing with the kids.” She said, smiling pleasantly. The women all nodded, thanking her again, and turned and left, their children holding their hands and talking animatedly about what Trinell had been doing.
Trinell watched them go before chuckling and shaking her head, amused. Those kids were just too cute sometimes. Standing, she dusted her clothes off before turning around and ramming face first into someone. Instantly, she backed away and held her hands up, her balance off. “Whoa! Sorry about that! I didn’t see you there.” She grinned, catching her balance and scratching the back of her head apologetically.
Opening her eyes, she blinked as she realized that the guy she had run into was the same guy that she had seen walking into the park while rubbing his cheek. Looking closely now she could still see the angry red mark and she smirked, amused. “Not to sound rude or nosy but did you piss off your girlfriend or something? That’s a nice little mark you got there.” She chuckled, nodding to his cheek.
While waiting for his reply she looked him over, her curiosity aroused. He was very good looking, that much was obvious from a quick glance, but upon closer inspection Trinell realized that he had eyes almost as blue as Djakael. The only difference was that this guy’s eyes were slightly darker than DJ’s and there was a different look to them, a different personality behind them. That didn’t surprise Trinell. Of course he’d had a different personality! He was a completely different person, for crying out loud.
Mentally shaking her head of the thoughts, she took a quick glance at his clothes. They were nice and they looked like they would fit him better when they were dry even though they fit him nicely while wet. She smirked, interested. It took a lot for a guy to interest her seeing as how she usually didn’t care for most people and most guys only seemed to piss her off.
“I’m Trinell, by the way.”

{ IN PROGRESS. Just posting it up xD. }
Each footstep squished as it hit the hard packed sandy pathway, His poor white sneakers were soaked right through to the point of leaving behind a constant trail of dripping footprints in his wake. It seemed to be a common trend lately, and to be quite honest he was almost getting used to the rejection. 'It's their loss.' His constant grin faded, a blank look following. His ego felt bruised, but he knew he'd just have to try harder. That's all it really came down to really, effort.. He'd land his perfect babe. Soon enough, they'd be in his arms. Lowering his hand from his throbbing cheek, he blinked and looked down to the ground as he walked. Only a matter of Time..
A chill wind blew past, a small shiver passed through him from the aid of his cooled damp clothing. It didn't bother him much, it took a lot to make him truly cold, call it a natural defect. The gentle whistle of the breeze carried another sound, giggling and joy swept past, following the current of salty air. Reflective cerulean eyes scanned the area, his head lifting as he came to a slow stop at the edge of the path. A field was spread out in front of him, a swing-set and slides was layed out not too far away, but right now the group of children he heard seemed a bit preoccupied.
"Again, Again!" Their Small voices pleaded gleefully, Jumping around the figure he hadn't yet looked over. The girl smiled, playfully messing up their hair as she gestured towards what he guessed was the children's parents, warm smiles on their faces as they approached the teen. “Sorry but no-can-do girls. There’s your mom’s.” The children's wails of disaproval were amusing, and the girl only smiled as she greeted the parents, sending warm looks to the children, obviously she was used to this. Dylan's own lips formed a soft smile for a moment as he watched the scene, letting it flicker away a moment later like a burnt out candle. He averted his eyes away from them, gazing down in front of him as he started to walk again.
Children weren't really his thing. He didn't like them all that much, and they never seemed to like him either. He kind of envied the girl, and she'd had such a pretty smile.. Subconciously he started to cross over the field towards where he had originally heard the laughter, His house wasn't that far away, maybe a 5 minute walk in that directioin, anyways. He enjoyed living near the ocean, Not only did plenty of gorgeous men and women come by it everyday, which was quite a good perk if he did say so himself, but he had a sort of love for the ocean. It didn't ever go away, he could count on it to greet him everytime he'd come by, and most importantly it never changed. Looked like he'd be spending another night by himself.
An abrupt impact made him stumble back a couple steps. 'Oops, I should have been watching where I was go- Oooh.' A small smile etched over his lips, the girl he'd been thinking about stumbling back with her arms out for balance parallel from himself. “Whoa! Sorry about that! I didn’t see you there.” An embarrassed smile made his own widen, she scratched the back of her head, her long lashed eyes hidden. Taking her momentary blindness to his advantage, he looked her over. She was pretty.. It wasn't just her smile. She was different then most of the people he went after, there was a certain uniquness about her. His head tilted in his usual coy manner, her eyes opening to reveal beautiful emerald. His heart beat a little faster in his chest.
Her smile turned into an amused smirk. 'Like what you see?' He loved that smile, was it wrong to obsess over something so much? He couldn't get it out of his head. “Not to sound rude or nosy but did you piss off your girlfriend or something? That’s a nice little mark you got there." A chuckle burst through her words, A shocked feeling of slight disapointment made him give her a more thoughtful look. Maybe going after that blonde earlier hadn't been a great idea.. Wait, Was he doubting himself? 'Get back to reality, Dylan. That's not like you at all.' He rubbed his cheek delicately, Rubbing the back of his ankle with his opposite foot as he gave her a smile in reply. "I'm Trinell, By the way."
Crossing his arms, He raised an inquisitive eyebrow at the girl, his canines shining in the late-afternoon sun. "Dylan. And actually, Love," Her gaze was drawing up and down his figure, she was checking him out. He laughed mentally, she probably didn't even realize that he'd noticed. Being observant was deffinately one of his strongsuits. "That position is currently empty, and open for immediate vacancy." He winked, his grin widening. He took a careful step closer, but he was careful this time. A repeat of the incident on the beach wasn't one he wanted to repeat, keeping his hands to himself for the time being was probably in his best interests. So help him god, That is deffinately not where he wanted them to be.
For some reason though, he didn't want to think of this one turning him away. It was odd, the feeling he got from her. She didn't give him the same feeling as most of the others did. 'Trinell. Trinell.. What a beautiful name.' He thought sincerely, strangely enough. This day was turning out to be a lot weirder then he thought it'd be, not that going after two girls in one day was strange or weird for him at all, but this feeling wasn't one he expierienced often at all. Love at first sight? Haha, Well of course he believed in that.. He believed in that at least 5 times a day. Not the point, he supposed. Best not to delve too far into the emotions, he wasn't about to get soft. He uncrossed his arms and stuck his hands in his jean pockets.
"So, Trinell, is it?" He looked to the side, back towards the ocean and the distantly crashing waves. His eyes sparkled, "What's a beauty like you doing hanging out with a bunch of kids on an afternoon like this? Surely you should be out with your boyfriend." His hint was quite obvious, he knew. But it got the job done. Tilting his head inwards enough for him to see her out of the corner of his eye, he gave her a sideways glance, his voice soft and vulnerable enough to lure her in.
Shuffling his weight from side to side he took his gaze away and looked at his feet for a second before blinking back upwards and staring into her eyes, his grin faded into a softer more subtle smile.
His heart rate wouldn't slow down.

“Dylan. And actually, Love,” Trinell couldn’t help but smirk. Not only was he hot but he had a nice voice and an attitude that Trinell could easily respect and get along with. “That position is currently empty, and open for immediate vacancy.” He finished his pick-up line with a wink and Trinell busted out laughing, greatly pleased and greatly amused. ‘Oh, Dylan! You’re rich!’ She thought, grinning a lopsided grin at him.
Trinell noticed him take a step closer, his hands staying carefully close to his own body, and her grin morphed back into a smirk. He probably wanted to make sure she didn’t slap him. Good for him, too, because she didn’t slap. She punched.
He uncrossed his arms after a moment and slipped his hands into his pockets, his gaze traveling to the ocean. They seemed to glow, the way the light hit them. “So, Trinell, is it?” He asked and Trinell nodded. “What’s a beauty like you doing hanging out with a bunch of kids on an afternoon like this? Surly you should be out with your boyfriend.” Trinell started laughing again, feeling her smartass nature rearing inside her.
“You flatter me, Hun.” She said. “And I’ve yet to meet a guy that can handle me enough to be my boyfriend. Do you think you can do it, Dylan?” She added teasingly. She got the feeling that he would be able to handle her at least to an extent, which surprised her a little. Most guys really couldn’t handle her and most of the girls got intimidated by her so she tended to stay without a significant other. After so long of it being like that she simply got used to it and didn’t let the loneliness get to her. She had friends, great friends, and she could take care of herself to a degree that would stun people.
“Oh, and Hun? Just to let you know, if you do decide to try and see if you can handle me and you somehow manage to piss me off, I don’t slap.” She winked, figuring Dylan smart enough to get her meaning. After all, if she didn’t slap what else could she do? ‘Well, there’s a lot I could do if I really wanted to but why would I do that to Dylan? That’s just cruel.’ She thought, thousands of painful techniques she could use against him if he pissed her off rocketing through her mind’s eye at the speed of light.
Offhandedly, she poked Dylan’s stomach, getting bored with just standing around. And she was getting hungry, too. Playing with those kids had really raised her appetite. “By the way, aren’t you cold? Your clothes are soaked.” She asked, worried. Having such a strong Alpha personality was bad sometimes, seeing as how it made her worry about anyone that might need to be taken care of.
She ignored her stomach as it began to rumble quietly, the sound barely noticeable. Gaze softening, she remembered Chase and DJ and wondered absently how they were. She hadn’t seen them in a while and it was getting close to time for DJ to have a practice session with her. She had some vicious chokes she wanted to teach him that she’d been hesitant to show him before.
Shaking her head, she banished the thoughts and returned her attention to Dylan while giving him a soft smile, her gaze relaxed.

Do you think you can do it, Dylan?” His toothy grin caught light through the conversation, Her teasing tone was quite obvious, but he knew there was more to it then that. “Oh, and Hun? Just to let you know, if you do decide to try and see if you can handle me and you somehow manage to piss me off, I don’t slap.” Winking as she finished, he had to hold back a small chuckle. "Handle you? Oh, I'm sure I could, babe." He resisted the urge to take another step forward, Keeping his hands firmly inside of his pockets. Not able to hold it in anymore he let out a short string of lighthearted laughter, as he recalled her wink, at the end of what sounded like a teasing threat. "Now, About the no slapping rule.. Is that a threat or a promise?" He added his own wink in at the end, Smiling as he watched her. Her expression turned to worry as they fell back into silence, a slim finger poking his stomach and making it knot, not uncomfortably. "By the way, Aren't you cold? Your clothes are soaked." His grin faltered, to more of a thoughtful look, before turning to that of a frown as her own stomach grumbled. And she was worried about him? 'Mmm, why would she worry about me anyways?' Her smile was soft despite the sound she seemed oblivious to. His frown deepened, gentle as it was. "I'm fine, Call me thick skinned. But, /you/," He emphasized as he gave her a somewhat stern look. Her mind seemed elsewhere though, even through their conversation. "Sound famished. You should go get something to eat." he paused for a moment. "Do you live near here?" { Lul 15 minute post. Yeah... "Handle you? Oh, I'm sure I could, babe." Trinell smirked darkly when Dylan said this, highly amused and undoubtedly attracted. She only blinked in surprise when he laughed softly, the sound pleasing to her ears. She hadn't expected to like his laugh quite so much. "Now, About the no slapping rule.. Is that a threat or a promise?" He winked, making Trinell grin and wink in return. She could see him struggling not to get closer to her and decided to be nice.
Leaning in close to him, she let a breath out next to his ear and whispered, "It's a promise, Love." Drawing back, she winked once more and let a mischievous smirk draw out on her lips.
As she asked him if he was cold, his smile faltered slightly, the tall boy regarding her curiously. She merely let herself drift off until she heard him speaking once more. "I'm fine, Call me thick skinned. But, /you/," He said suddenly, emphasizing "you". "Sound famished. You should go get something to eat." He paused and Trinell blinked. She hadn't registered the sound of her stomach, merely ignored it. "Do you live near here?"
At this Trinell paused. For some reason she didn't want to tell him that she was homeless. She didn't want to ruin the atmosphere between them yet. Looking away, anywhere but at him, for a second she thought of what she could say. Sure, she lived nearby. She lived on the beach, actually. In an abandoned old place that was slowly falling apart despite her best efforts to keep it at least slightly livable. Instead, she said, "Yeah, but I got kicked out so I'm waiting for mom to calm down and let me back in."
She let her words hang in the air, her shoulders tense with her discomfort.
The silence was reaching an unbearable level when, out of nowhere, the sound of snarling and barking exploded. Looking around Dylan, Trinell blinked as she saw a tiny black kitten running for dear life from a group of skinny, mangy mutts. Eyes widening in shock and worry, Trinell waited until the kitten was about to pass her before reaching out and scruffing the kitten quickly, yanking it into her chest. Holding the kitten there, she turned her emerald eyes to the dogs that were snarling at her and glared at them darkly.
There was no way she'd submit to these mangy mutts! Snarling herself, she barked a firm, "Scram!" at the dogs. When they refused to listen, she stomped close to them and snapped a wolfish-sounding, "Get out of here, now!" Suddenly realizing that there was something unusual about the girl, the dogs turned and ran away, many with their tails between their legs.
Cradling the kitten close to her chest, Trinell turned back to Dylan and offered him an apologetic smile. "Sorry about that, Dylan. I just couldn't let this kitten get eaten though." She said and looked down at the tiny thing. It couldn't be very old at all, maybe six months. "Hey, there baby. You're safe now, promise." She cooed softly to the kitten, her index finger running gently over the feline's forehead. Her eyes widened slightly when it opened its eyes to revel dark mahogany orbs, the eyes filled with fear and curiosity alike.
"Oh wow.... You're not a Shifter, are you...?" She whispered, her eyes wide.
OOC//: I hope you don't mind me tossing Andrei in there Stephy! >///< I just didn't want to leave such a short post and I wanted to get Andrei out onto the board. x.x

His question hung in the salty air, as Trinell tensed and looked away, he felt a stab of regret, maybe symphathy. This must not be a question she liked answering, and as her eyes searched for some kind of excuse, he knew it would probably be a lie. He smiled a bit more encouragingly, as she finally looked back to him.
"Yeah, but I got kicked out so I'm waiting for mom to calm down and let me back in." Dylan nodded obediently, he wouldn't push the question any farther, and took a moment to annalyze the possibilities. He could walk away, Get her number, and be done with it. But that didn't seem like the best option here. Getting too attached to these girls was a bad idea, it lead to messy heartbreak later. but that didn't feel like an option right now.
He could invite her to his place. Mmm, now that sounded like an idea. He/did/ have a refrigerator full of food. 'And maybe some warmer clothes.' He reguarded silently as he looked her over again, she wasn't dressed all that warmly, and it was going to get chilly later on in the night. He could only guess she wasn't living in the greatest conditions, if she had to lie. But then again, she could be telling the truth. Maybe he was reading her completely wrong. Sighing inwardly, he decided the second option was probably he best bet. The corner of his mouth etching upwards in a half grin, he opened his mouth to speak.
Snarls and growls errupted almost out of no where, causing him to turn and look around, with a bit of an angry suprised jump. The small black scrap was running for dear life, the larger dogs quickly overtaking it. A shiver went down his spine, and he briefly considered shifting on the spot and teaching those animals a lesson they wouldn't soon forget, before he factored in Trinell. Damn it. As the cat attempted to run past, he turned, just in time to see his focus grab him gently, hugging him to her chest protectively. He wrinked his nose at the nose at the dogs, disgusting creatures, he just about aimed at feign kick in their direction, when the sound of a returning snarl that he recognised made his eyes widen in surprise.
"Scram!" Dylan blinked, completely ignoring the canines biting around their ankles. Did that big sound just come from her? Her eyes shawn in an dominent deffiance, and Dylan's only sparkled with an astounded curiousity. How quickly her personality seemed to change, And was it wrong that it was kind of a turn on? With another firm bark at the dogs, they ran away, with their tails near between their legs. He almost laughed as he watched the slim figures make their escape, but he was still in a fair bit of shock.
An appologetic smile made him relax as she addressed him before turning her attention back to the poor creature in her arms, "Sorry about that, Dylan. I just couldn't let this kitten get eaten though." gaze immediately dropping back to the kitten, Dylan took a step forward to look over the kitten in her arms, his arm brushing against hers as he lowered his head a bit to her level. The tiny little cat slowly opened it's eyes, revealing that of a burnt mohogany colour, looking up at them with surprising intelligence. Was this..?
"Oh wow.... You're not a Shifter, are you...?" Her soft voice cooed, her eyes widening with her words, as did his own. He took an immediate step back, Blinking at them both. "Shifter?" he blurted, blunter then he should have. He cursed under his breath, looking around quickly, for what he wasn't exactly sure. Maybe he hadn't heard her right. But she was mirroring his thoughts about the feline, he had to have heard her right. He looked at her evenly, his face somehow blank, his eyebrows creased in concentration.
{ Not horrible, I hope. xD }

Trinell smiled a bit as she saw Dylan’s feet move a step closer to her, his arm gently brushing against hers. He lowered his head slightly, enough to see the kitten better, and blinked when the kitten opened its eyes. When she unwittingly asked if the kitten was a Shifter, though, he jerked away from her, his eyes wide and blinking.
“Shifter?” Exclaimed Dylan suddenly, Trinell cursing vividly in her mind at her lack of control. She’d probably just given her secret away! ‘Dammit! C’mon, think Trinell, think! You can get out of this, just think. Get creative.’ She thought angrily, her mind racing with things she could say.
“Yeah, haven’t you heard about them?” She said, trying to sound like she honestly believed what she was saying. “A friend of mine says that she saw someone turn into an animal and then turn back into a human later with a bunch of other animals. Apparently they call themselves Shifters.” She added with a wary glance from side to side; it almost seemed like she was looking for anyone.
“Have you seen any Shifters before? What do you think of them?” She asked suddenly and she really meant it. “I think they’re pretty cool.” Glancing around for real now, she said, “If I were a Shifter, I’d be a wolf. They’re so awesome and all my friends say I act like an Alpha wolf.” At this she smirked, her emerald eyes gleaming. If Dylan knew anything about Shifters or had hung out with them before he’d know that that was one of the most used lines in their world. It was a way they identified each other and what their form was. Rarely would there be a normal human that knew what they meant.
“Meoooow?” Trinell blinked and looked down, now remembering the kitten that was currently struggling to get out of her arms. She chuckled and wrapped her hands around its ribs, her thumbs hooked around its forelegs to rest on the point of its furry chest. “What’s up, buddy? Trying to get away again, are we? Well, too bad.” In one swift motion, she flipped the kitten onto its back and pulled it back against her chest, just above her breasts. “You’re not going anywhere bud.” She added with a smirk, the kitten growling and wriggling violently in her strong but gentle hold.
Looking back up at Dylan, she nodded her head down at the kitten and said, “Wanna hold him?”

“Yeah, haven’t you heard about them?” Dylan's body felt tense, try as he might to relax even the slightest bit. She knew about Shifters. 'Crap.' What did this mean? Their secret being out, it could only lead to trouble. Did she tell people, did the authorities know? The Government? All this seriousness was starting to give him a horrible headache. “A friend of mine says that she saw someone turn into an animal and then turn back into a human later with a bunch of other animals. Apparently they call themselves Shifters.”
Dylan blinked stupidly, his long dark lashes masking over Beautiful frantic blue eyes. This didn't add up, she was acting so calmly, like this was common conversation to her. Like she'd known about this forever, and it was old news. Like.. His muscles started to relax, and he breathed a bit easier. It all clicked, and he felt stupid for not thinking it right off the bat. She had to be a shifter too.
He mused quietly to himself, watching with slight amusement as she made like she didn't know what she was talking about. Her face turned to a smirk, as she spoke of herself as a wolf, and Dylan's own face twitched in an unreadable expression. Wolf, Huh? He never much cared for dogs, Funny as it may be, being a cat and all. They were too.. How should he put it, blunt? Much funner to toy around, then to waste a good time like the ones he met. Not that that was many. And the common mongrels.. He put the thought out of mind. Wolves were wolves, dogs were dogs. He'd learn to deal with it.
The girl's previous question hung in the air, A small meowing noise coming from the fur ball in her arms. It's puny movements of resistance made him smile mentally, He was a fighter, or just really stubborn. Given the position he was in, he didn't blame him, but then again.. What he wouldn't give to be cuddled up again her like that. Devious thoughts went through his relatively simple mind, breaking as she started to speak to him again.
“Wanna hold him?” Dylan shook his head immediately, her sudden voice breaking his thoughts like they were being splashed with ice water. He flushed a bit, regaining some sense of normality with his facial expression, smiling lightly. "No, that's alright." He shrugged off, taking a step back beside her, but not quite close enough to touch. Taking a Steadying breath, he went back to the prior topic.
"So, Wolf?" He assumed she would realize he'd caught on, to be honest he hoped he wasn't completely wrong about this. Trusting his instincts today hadn't worked out so well for him so far. His grin grew a bit wider, his hands finding their way into his jacket pockets which were slowly starting to dry with the sinking sun. He shifted his weight from foot to foot, confidence clear in his posture. He wasn't wrong.
"Interesting," he mused, breaking eyecontact and letting his eyes wander back to the ocean, slowly starting to vanish in the distance, Waves taken by the bright yet diminishing colours. It would be dark soon, it was already starting to look Closer to Night then day, their shadows casting more blended shapes with the low light. "It certainly fits." He admitted truthfully, thinking of how she handled those mutts moments ago.
"Well," he interjected, barely giving her time to get a clear word in edgewise. "It's getting late, We've completely gone off the topic of your stomach's angry complaints, and I'm sure your new friend is gonna want some kind of shelter." He looked back at her, nodding to the kitten in her arms. "I've got an extra room, Though if you get cold I wouldn't mind.." He trailed off, smirking at his implied comment. She could reply as they walked, hopefully this wouldn't create any kind of drama. The conversation had taken a much too serious turn, if you asked him.
He winked playfully, turning and walking in the direction of his house knowing she'd be following, if only to ask more shifter questions. Surely she wouldn't keep up the oblivious act, maybe this could be fun. He smiled to himself, the hastening sun casting comforting shadows.
