Ugh…
The single thought at the front of the woman’s mind as she strolled through the night. Today had not been her day, not by a long shot. Her eyes brows were pulled together in a clear sign of agitation, and her lips pressed in a stern line. She had hoped that having a few drinks would’ve perked up her mood and it had actually, but it hadn’t gotten rid of it completely. She wasn’t exactly drunk, but she definitely had a strong buzz going- but even so, that didn’t make her any less dangerous or any less of a threat. Striking dark sapphire orbs looked ahead savagely, seeming to give off a soft glow in the fading light as the sun made its way over the horizon. She was dressed casually today in a simple black T-shirt that fitted her with a pair of close fitting dark blue jeans that were loose enough to not fit the “skinny jean” category and black Nike Shox. Her long, near elbow-length dark hair was loose with a slight tousle to it, some parted over her shoulder and the rest falling behind her back. She walked past a baton like dry branch, maybe 2 feet long and a good 4 inches in diameter, all alone out here on a trail. She came to a halt and tilted her head, examining it further before bending down to pick it up. She carried it with her as she continued on.
She finally slowed her quick pace down to a leisurely walk when she came to new grounds; a huge sidewalk that she knew had a man hole at the far end corner that led to underground drainage sewers. She wasn’t equipped with her usual weapons, merely two 10 inch blades. One was strapped to her ankle and the other on her belt, she didn’t really feel the need today to have carried anything more. She tucked one side of her hair behind her ear and then came to a pause in plain sight on the concrete square. She pulled a lighter from her front pocket and started to fiddle with it, watching the orange and yellow flames burst from the end before fading to nothingness. In her bored and irritated state, a little fire would go a long way. A slow smile spread on her pale pink lips, the first flickering of danger flashing behind deep blue eyes. She brought the lighter to the end of the branch; igniting its end and watching as the slow flame began to engulf the branch end, watching it grow and burn. The orange glow reflected off the blue of her eyes as she watched its progress. However interesting it may be, it wasn’t enough to hold her attention for long. She made her way over to a wall and leaned against it, the night air surprisingly cool- especially being it summer.
