Trinell glanced warily around herself as she slipped silently through the night, on her way to visit Tomah, Faline, and Feich. It had been almost two weeks since she had last visited them and it also just happened to be her 18th birthday. It had been two years since she'd had to say goodbye to her dear sweet little Feich. Almost three since saying goodbye to her amazingly motherly Faline. Almost three and a half years since putting her beloved Tomah down below.
Sneaking into the cemetery proved the accomplished Thief no problem and she slipped with silent, confident strides back towards the back right corner of the cemetery, where she had buried her beloved family. She made it there in almost no time, practically running, only to stop before their graves and smile sadly down at the old graves. Each time she came here, she cleared the land of weeds and made sure the stones had stayed in place. After so many years of constant weeding, the gravesites were quickly becoming bald areas in the ground where the markers were. In the spring time, pretty flowers bloomed all over the graves, making Trinell smile despite herself.
Crouching down, Trinell reached out with one tough hand and ran it gently over Tomah's marker, her long fingers just barely grazing the time and weather worn stones. A sad smile tugged at her lips, tears stinging her eyes until she blinked them away. No, she wouldn't cry. Tomah, Faline, and Feich wouldn't like it if she cried on her birthday. Instead, she sat down before Faline's marker, making sure she was in reach of Feich's and Tomah's, before letting herself speak.
"Hey Tomah, Faline, Feich." Barely a whisper. "Been a while, huh? Well, it's my birthday today. I turned 18. Can you believe it? I never thought I'd live to be 18." She stopped speaking abruptly, her sad smile turning into a deep frown as she furrowed her brows and tried not to cry. No! No tears. Not around them, at least. She owed them that much. "But yeah. Made a new friend, too. His name is Kurosaki Kyo. He's pretty cool. A wolf like me. Even has some serious problems, like I do. But he's good, I can tell. I think you'd like him Faline. Maybe you'd even approve of him, Tomah. He rough around the edges but..." She trailed off, struggling with her quickly tightening throat. This always happened. Twice a month she would come to the cemetery and tell Tomah, Faline, and Feich about what had been going on in her life. It help keep her sane and ensured that she never forget them.
"I miss you guys. I really, really do." She wiped her tears away, wholly incapable of keeping them from popping into her eyes. "I wish you guys didn't have to die. It's hard sometimes, ya know? To just keep going like we used to. Always looking ahead, never slowing down... I almost can't do it alone. Sometimes, I can't." She released a heavy, shuddering breath and stroke Feich's marker along with Tomah's, Faline's pressing uncomfortably into her calves. But she wouldn't move. Oh, no. Of course not. This was the closest she could get to her old family. Why would she want to move? Even if it was uncomfortable. "Dj's seen me break down. Kuro and my little friend Taavi almost saw me break down the other night. I hated it. I never wanted them to see me like that." She sighed and lifted her head to stare up at the sky. It was the night of no moon; which was saddening for Trinell. She always loved to stare at the moon. And although there were plenty of stars out, they did nothing to fill the darkness like the moon did. No star could compare to the moon, except the sun. But the sun wasn't due to appear for at least nine more hours.
Trinell had been born late at night, just before midnight, and so she never counted her birthday as passed until the time was actually hit and passed. Since her birth time had passed half an hour ago, she officially considered herself to be 18. Maybe that was why she loved the night so much. She had been born in the dead of night, when the creepy crawlies come out and all of her second kinfolk became fairly active. It was just in her nature to love the night.
Sighing, Trinell adjusted herself so that she laid down on Faline's grave, her face partially on the marker, with her hands slowly drawing circles in the solid ground in and around Tomah and Feichs' grave markers. "I... Sometimes I wish I hadn't run away, Tomah. Would you think I had failed to be true to myself if I had let Dad send me to a foster home?" Silence met her question and she sighed. Of course. She had known she would get no response but a small part of her wished Tomah would pop up and bark at her, answer her questions again. Just like...
Just like when she had been a child of a mere ten years, stubbornly plowing her way through a dense forest with a will of steel and enough stubborness to outlast a thousand ornery mules.
Trinell didn't even realize she'd been crying until a cold breeze blew by, making her cheeks burn from the cold and forcing her to start paying attention. Her body was freezing, trembling already, and she couldn't feel her fingers. Frowning and trembling, she Shifted suddenly and curled up in a tight ball on Feich's grave. He had always been the first to curl up with her when she was cold. And he had always warmed her up in no time, too.
Feeling exceptionally sad, Trinell pinned her ears back along her skull and buried her snout in her thick tail. She beat back a pitiful whimper and instead clenched her eyes shut, simply allowing the memories of her and her late friends to flash past her closed lids. It happened this way every time, without fail. For this was her time to mourn; her time to just let all of her sadness about them being gone flow free and be acknowledged, like it should be from time to time.
Although, even she had to admit that the strength of her loneliness at them being gone astounded her sometimes.

Kurosaki walked at a slow lope among the graves. He greatly disliked how some graves only had ground markers, and others had practically monuments. It made some people look less significant than others, and it was plain fucked up like that. He wasn't one to visit the graveyard a lot, but there were a few graves he could visit when he went. He had a small place picked out with Seijiro's ashes buried there, but the only marker was the occasional bright red lilies he left. And the vase, which held the lilies. That was his first stop, it was somewhere along the east end of the graveyard.
Kneeling down in front of the grave, Kurosaki began his inward talk with someone who could never hear him or answer back. "What's up, idiot Onii-san" Kurosaki began, leaning back on his elbows and staring at the sky. "I bet you still love it when it rains, don't you? I hate the rain. In some ways, I feel like it took you from me. At the same time though, when it rains, I can't help but stand in it for hours, staring at it as it falls. Yeah, yeah, if you were here you'd totally lecture me over how I could get sick and all that jazz. But, whatever, I hardly ever get sick anyway." Kurosaki said, a sad smile on his face while he talked. "It's nice to see you again, Onii-san, but I have to go see them now." Kurosaki used the word 'them' like only he and Seijiro knew who they were. In a way, they were the only ones who knew.
Dusting himself off after he arose, Kurosaki walked even slower than he had before, hands shoved in his pockets, eyes watching the ground.
He stopped in front of two conjoined graves. He lit one of the inscents that were placed between them and got on his knees in front of the grave.
"Auntie, Uncle. I'm sorry I'm not the person you wished I would have been when I got older. Not the adopted child you wanted. I always thought of you as my grandparents, even though you're Seijiro's parents, and I looked at him as my brother. Still, I'm glad you were there. Without you, I don't think I would've been able to trust anyone but Seijiro. It's still hard for me to anyway, because of her. I miss her so much that my heart burns sometimes, Auntie. I wish you could've met her, Uncle." Kurosaki said, but there was no smile on his face as he talked to them. He knew they were disappointed; they had a right to be. He was disappointed in himself.
He had one last stop. He walked up to the grave, which was in a very far corner of the cemetery, but before he spoke a word, he noticed... a dog? No, a wolf. He knew who. It was Trinell. But why was she there? He vaguely noticed a few large stones near her. So she was visiting the passed, too. Funny how things happened like that.
Kurosaki walked over, not meaning to be silent if he was, and took his jacket off and tossed it on the wolf. "Stupid. Even a wolf would freeze out here like that. Change back and stop crying." Kurosaki said, not looking her direction. He was almost staring at the grave a few feet in front of them, eyes and face completely sad and mournful. He had no reason to hide his sadness for this person's death.
She had been the first he had trusted since Seijiro.
And she might've been more important to him than even Seijiro was.

Trinell flicked one of her ears up as she heard footsteps around the park, refusing to move from her spot even if it was the security man. She had a right to be there; she was mourning, after all. She just didn't want to freeze. She knew if she did that Faline, Feich, and Tomah would beat her back to life if she did and ended up freezing to death.
But it wasn't the security guard. No, it was someone she knew much better than the security guard. It was Kuro. She watched him as he made his way noisily through the graveyard, his eyes on the ground, until he spotted her. He looked confused for a second before understanding flitted across his face and he made his way over to her. Trinell didn't take her eyes off him, her one ear falling back on her head to receive slight protection from the wind from her headphones.
She blinked, however, as Kuro pulled his jacket off and dropped it on her while saying, "Stupid. Even a wolf would freeze out here like that. Change back and stop crying." She stared at him for a moment, watching his eyes look away, and she blinked. Freeze? She wasn't going to freeze. It wasn't even that cold, anymore. Her body had had time to warm back up not that she had her thick winter coat.
She changed back anyways though and rose carefully to her feet, staring down at Feich's marker to make sure she hadn't messed it up. She was pretty sure she hadn't. Looking back up at Kuro, she felt her heart clench sadly at his expression. Oh, he looked downright miserable right then.
Stepping carefully around her beloved friends' graves, she walked up to Kuro's side and shook her head at him. "I won't freeze so long as I'm in my wolf form. I've sat through colder winter nights, with a thinner coat and in much worse health." She said softly, following his gaze to the general area of some graves. Who was he out visiting at this time of night?
She decided it was none of her business and stepped a little away from him while going to pull his jacket off. "Anyways, you keep your jacket and go visit whoever it was that meant so much to you. I'll stay here and, what'd you tell me to do? Stop crying? I'll stay here and stop crying." She said, giving him a weak grin. Of course, she wouldn't be crying. She hadn't been crying in the first place. She'd been mourning. She'd continue to mourn, too, until the sun came up in the morning. She wouldn't sleep a wink until after the sun came up. Then she would drag her cold, stiff body off to Dj's apartment to sleep for the rest of the day.
It was her way of paying respect to them. She'd sit vigil all night on her birthday and think about her past life and, when the sun rose, she'd go back to her present life and settle back into her daily life. She'd go back and take Andrei back from Dj and Chase and go back to her own apartment, which Dj had forced her to accept after she'd caught a particularly nasty cold, and live again. For Tomah, who'd raised her from puphood, and Faline, who'd guided her as best as she could, and for Feich, who had reminded her to do everything she could to survive but still be compassionate. Yes, she'd give them their due respect, even if it meant a night of freezing.

"I won't freeze so long as I'm in my wolf form. I've sat through colder winter nights, with a thinner coat and in much worse health."
"That's not something to be proud of, Trinell. You'll kill yourself, doing that." Kurosaki said, though he didn't turn his head to look at her, or even his gaze. He was staring longingly at her grave still. God, how he missed her. He missed her so much, he wished he could switch places with her. He would gladly do that any day. If he had left and taken the car instead of her, maybe she would have still been there, and maybe the little one would be too.
When Trinell made a move and put his jacket on his shoulder, he finally, though hesitantly, turned his head the gaze down at the jacket. Then he picked it up, and tossed it across her head. "I told you to wear it. I'm not gonna anyway. She always hated wearing jackets or coats, too. She never was one to wear a lot of clothing, she hated layering her clothes. Silly, childish girl..." Kurosaki trailed off, lost in his own memories. He was brought back to reality though, when a huge wind whipped through the area, causing Kurosaki to recoil at the force of it.
He shook his head. "Phew. They get stronger every time I visit. Ugh." Kurosaki didn't shake with the icy wind. No, cold never had bothered him much. He had always preferred neutral temperatures though, compared to hot or cold.
"Know what's ironic, Trinell? You two were both born today. I got you both presents, too." Kurosaki said, his tone still sullen. He dug into his pocket and pulled out a red razor wrapped in a black bow. He hadn't put the bow on it, the cashier had. If he had had any say in it, then he wouldn't have put anything on it. He tossed it over to her.
"Happy birthday." He said, while he lumbered toward the grave.
Happy birthday, Sakura. And here's one for Jr. , too. And, I'm saying it again. I'm so sorry." Kurosaki said, hand emerging from his pocket with a small ring and a miniature teddy bear. He had deep pockets. They came in handy sometimes. He laid the ring down on Sakura's grave, placing the teddy bear just to the side.
He simply stared for a while. Many emotions flashed in his eyes as he gazed at the gravestone with nothing to mark it but a full bloomed cherry tree embossed on the stone. There were two buried there, but Kurosaki was the only one who knew that.
Swiftly changing suddenly, Kurosaki leaped over the cemetery fence and loped out of sight. He was gone for only a minute, before he leaped back over it, holding a newly deceased brown hare in his jaws. His ice blue eyes drifted from Sakura's headstone to Trinell. He lowered his head and approached Trinell. He made sure not to step anywhere near the rocks as he made his way over to stand in front of her. His tail went level with his spine, showing possession over the kill, but he then wagged it a few times to show he'd share.
Then he sat, and waited for Trinell's response.

"That's not something to be proud of, Trinell. You'll kill yourself, doing that." Said Kuro, his gaze not even flickering over to Trinell. She didn't mind; he seemed distracted by memories that she didn't want to interrupt. But she did anyways, when she dropped his jacket on his shoulder.
Slowly, almost painfully it seemed, he tore his gaze away from the headstone he was staring at only to look at her slowly. He threw the jacket back over her head. "I told you to wear it. I'm not gonna anyway. She always hated wearing jackets or coats, too. She never was one to wear a lot of clothing, she hated layering her clothes. Silly, childish girl..." Trinell blinked in confusion. What? Who was he talking about? Trinell stared at him in confusion but said nothing other than a quiet, "...what?"
Pulling the jacket off her head, she held it against her belly until a sharp wind rifled by, making her tremble and snapping Kuro out of whatever daze he was in. She was pulling the still-warm jacket over her frigid body when he suddenly said, "Phew. They get stronger every time I visit. Ugh." Trinell had to give a slight chattering chuckle at that, not entirely sure if he was talking about the wind or his memories. She certainly knew that her memories still burned in her mind's eye every time she came out here.
Feeling sad sudddenly, she glanced over at her fallen friends' graves and gazed longingly at them, feeling sad over their deaths once more. It was just so hard without them sometimes. Sometimes she missed the old days, back when life was just do what you can to survive. Simple, happy. She missed those uncomplicated days.
"Know what's ironic, Trinell? You two were both born today. I got you both presents, too." Trinell jumped slightly at his voice, not expecting it, and was pulled abruptly from her thoughts of turning back into a wolf. She was cold, dammit. And the jacket wasn't doing much to help.
Blinking in confusion once more, she raised one brow and stared at Kuro. "You got me a present." She said, not believing her ears. But when he pulled out the red Razor with a black ribbon around it and handed it to her, she had to gape. Okay, a present was one thing but a cellphone?! She jerked her head up, clutching the phone, with wide eyes. "Kuro!" She gasped, disbelieving. "A phone?! I mean," She stopped abruptly, feeling very rude all of a sudden, and dropped her head in embarrassment as her cheeks flushed red, and not from the cold. "Thanks, Kuro. You really didn't have to." She mumbled instead, giving him a slight smile and nodding in thanks as he wished her a happy birthday while walking over to the grave.
Holding the phone as carefully as she did her iPod, Trinell left Kuro to his past and walked back to her own, settling down as comfortably as she could before Tomah's grave. With one hand lightly stroking the stone cold ground, she looked through the phones contents slowly, making sure to commit her number to memory.
Even as she scrolled through the contacts already in the phone, Trinell couldn't help but feel some disbelief still. Really. Kuro had bought her a phone for her birthday. A phone. And not a cheap one, either. She knew that Razor's were kind of expensive, which only made her disbelief grow.
Wow. Just wow.
A sudden thud to her side made her yank her head up and snap her eyes to the sound, only to see Kuro disappearing from sight. She blinked and stared after him for a moment before shrugging. She was kind of sad he hadn't decided to stay, but she didn't mind all that much. He was mourning as well, so why would he want to hang out with someone else who was mourning? It'd just be a party of depression.
Tucking the phone carefully into her pocket, Trinell Shifted suddenly and curled up under Kuro's jacket with a good bit of her body poking out from underneath it. She kept her head out, if only to keep her paranoia at being attacked suddenly at bay.
She flicked her ears as she heard large paws trotting up to her and slowly sniffed the air only to blink in surprise as she smelt Kuro and fresh rabbit. Uncurling herself and opening her eyes, she blinked up at him. There he was, the hot rabbit in his jowls and a dominant look about him. Trinell felt her alpha-nature rise up within her but clamped down on it as he wagged his tail slightly to show that he would share.
Perking her ears, she let her tongue loll as she let out a light bark and wagged her tail. She sat up, ignoring Kuro's jacket as it tumbled off her thickly-furred but lean-muscled body, and said, "You're just full of surprises today aren't you, Kuro?" Grinning cheekily, she wagged her tail playfully but was careful not to let it get any higher than his. She hadn't eaten much that day; any food would be a blessing.

Kurosaki was amused at Trinell's way of keeping warm. Huddling under his jacket with her head and most of her wolf figure poking out? That wouldn't work very well. But it sure was funny to look at! Kyo chuckled despite himself as he approached.
She had been utterly shocked that he had got her a phone. Was it that surprising? After all the times he'd complained that she could just call him instead of meeting him at work or stalking him outside his house, too. Ah, all that effort was for not, he supposed. Oh well. It didn't really bother him.
"You're just full of surprises today aren't you, Kuro?"
He was full of surprises? No he wasn't. That was far from a surprise for him. If he wanted to surprise her, he'd jump up and nip her maw then run away and tumble in the leaves. He most definitely would never be caught alive doing that. Not likely, unless he was on some sort of pill. Which, he never did take in the first place, because Alcohol and Cigarettes were enough for his body to handle without the added help from medication.
He lay the rabbit down on the ground between them, then comfortably collapsed into a laying position on his stomach, one paw crossed over the other. "That surprised you? I'm not an idiot, I can hunt ya know. A rabbit is an easy feat for me, Trinell. I'm not much good at being a person; but I'm a hell of a wolf." Kurosaki said matter-of-factly, a perfectly smug confident grin on his wolf muzzle.
Kurosaki looked back over his shoulder at Sakura's grave. He then turned his head slowly to look at Trinell.
"Since you must be dying to know why I'm in so much agony," Kurosaki began, rolling his eyes, "I'll tell you who they are." He stated, no serious.
"Her name was Sakura. I've told you of Seijiro; she was his sister. We... We were madly in love with each other." He closed his eyes as the memories overfilled his wolf brain.
"She was a husky shifter, the purest white I've ever seen, coupled with a pink nose. She was normal in her human form, brunette hair hanging just bellow her shoulders, deep brown eyes filled with curiosity. She's a year younger than I am. He described her the best he could without getting in-depth with his feelings for her.
"We had been dating for three straight years, when she brought up having kids. I wasn't ready to be a dad, and I wasn't sure when I would be. Sh told me I had about nine months to figure it out. I got pissed, and punched a hole in the wall. She took it the wrong way, and somehow thought I wanted her to kill the baby. She took the car and ran away..." Kurosaki opened his eyes after he finished the last sentence.
"The next time I saw her, we were lowering her six feet into a hole in the ground. No one but she, I, and now you, know that she was pregnant. Seijiro is probably taking good care of her and Junior though, so I guess I'm at peace with that much." He explained dully.
"But I blame myself. I should have told her I would be supportive. But I was too pissed, and too young. And it's too late now. Not a day goes by that I don't wish it were me in her place." Kurosaki laid his head on his paws. He blinked when another gust came through, but it didn't otherwise effect his position.
Looking at her with only his eyes, he asked. "Who were they?" But he asked it carefully, delicately. He didn't want to get shredded for asking.

Trinell watched Kuro contentedly as he set the rabbit on the ground between them before falling into a comfortable heap on his belly with one paw crossing over the other. “That surprised you? I'm not an idiot ya know. A rabbit is an easy feat for me, Trinell. I'm not much good at being a person; but I'm a hell of a wolf.” He said smugly, looking for all the world as if it were perfectly obvious with that cocky little smirk on his maw. Trinell snorted, rolling her eyes, but laid down opposite him anyways with her hind legs tucked in close to her belly and her long-furred tail curling over them. She laid her front legs out in front of her, bracing herself up on her forelegs and elbows with her head up and cocked curiously to the side. Her ears sat relaxed on her head, the large, squishy ring of her headphones comforting on the bottoms of her ears.
She watched his eyes flick back over his shoulder towards the grave and politely she looked the other way, watching him out of the corner of her eye.
“Since you must be dying to know why I'm in such agony, I'll tell you who they are.” He said with a dramatic roll of his eyes. Trinell instantly looked back to him, about to protest despite her curiosity. Sure, she wanted to know more about Kuro but still. This was a personal, touchy subject undoubtedly. He didn't have to tell her just because she was curious and wouldn't ask.
“Her name was Sakura. I've told you of Seijiro; she was his sister. We… We were madly in love with each other.” She didn't dare cut him off once he began speaking, though. He seemed totally serious, and she didn't want to make things awkward. She watched him close his eyes as he spoke and felt sympathy tug at her heart. Oh, to lose someone you loved like that… She didn’t know that kind of pain. She knew the pain of losing a loved one, yes, but not one so intimately close. She'd never let anyone get that close to her.
“She was a husky shifter, the purest white I've ever seen, coupled with a pink nose. She was normal in her human form, brunette hair hanging just below her shoulders, deep brown eyes filled with curiosity. She's a year younger than I am.” Despite his lack of overly-emotional descriptions, Trinell could tell that he had loved her dearly. To pay that much attention to her… Yes, he had loved her a lot.
She set her head down on her paws sadly, feeling terrible for his loss and her curiosity. Ohhh, damn her curious nature! She'd gone and made Kuro think of something depressing right when he seemed to be relaxing a bit.
“We had been dating for three straight years, when she brought up having kids. I wasn't ready to be a dad, and I wasn't sure when I would be. She told me I had about nine months to figure it out. I got pissed, and punched a hole in the wall. She took it the wrong way, and somehow thought I wanted her to kill the baby. She took the car and ran away…” Trinell couldn't stop the almost silent gasp that slipped out of her, her eyes widening as what had happened dawned on her. A car wreck. She'd died in a car wreck. And with an infant growing, too…
Trinell felt absolutely horrible now, her ears drooping sadly as she watched Kuro keep talking. She'd let him talk, no matter how bad she felt, because she didn’t have it in her to stop him when he seemed so dead-set on speaking.
“The next time I saw her, we were lowering her six feet into a hole in the ground. No one but she, I, and now you, know that she was pregnant. Seijiro is probably taking good care of her and Junior though, so I guess I'm at peace with that much.” Trinell nodded slightly in understanding; she could understand that, at least a little. She was sure that her father was watching over Tomah, Faline, and Feich now. She just hoped that he didn't think she'd failed in her life; no, she didn't think she could live with herself if she found out that he was disappointed with how she lived now. His opinion had always mattered so much to her, even when she was just a tiny tike beginning to learn how to defend herself. She met his eyes when they opened, expertly hiding her sympathy away. Kuro was like her; he didn't like sympathy.
“But I blame myself. I should have told her I would be supportive. But I was too pissed, and too young. And it's too late now. Not a day goes by that I don't wish it were me in her place.” He finished lifelessly, his tone dull. She lifted her head back up just as his dropped onto his paws and he stared at her, both ignoring the gust of wind that blew by.
She rose into a dignified sitting position just as he delicately asked, “Who were they?”. She held his gaze for a second before looking away, towards the moon with saddened eyes. She knew exactly who he was talking about and it made her heart clench in debilitating pain.
“They were my family after I ran away when I was ten. Tomah was the first.” Rising to her paws, she walked to Kuro's right and ghosted past him to gently press her cold nose into the middle of the marker. “This is Tomah. I got him as a puppy when I was only seven years old and we were inseparable.” She sighed. “He was a pure bred German Shepherd with great blood in him and the greatest temperament I've ever seen in a dog. He raised me and helped keep me alive while I learned firsthand how to live on my own out in the forests.” Stepping back from his grave, she stood off to the side, her head lowered and her tail almost brushing the ground.
“He had two puppies that I managed to keep even after he died of old age. Faline was the eldest and his daughter.” She trudged over to Faline's grave and pressed her nose into the center of her marker, as she had done with Tomah's.
“She might as well have been my mother; she took care of me that well. Even though she was younger than me, she still treated me as her pup and would attack a bear in a heartbeat if she felt I was threatened. She almost did, once.” Trinell shook her head, pulling her mind away from the memory and pressing a loving paw against the solid ground. “She was pure German Shepherd, as well. I don't know if she was pure-blooded as Tomah was, but she was definitely high class. She had the body of a well-bred bitch, although she died a lot worse than Tomah had.” She let a shudder wrack through her body before continuing. “Faline… she was attacked by a big Rottweiler during a raid. I thought she could heal, but after a few days I knew she would die. I loved her too much to let her die such a slow, painful death so I… I put her to sleep myself and buried her here, next to her father." At this, she abruptly pulled away from Faline's grave and shuffled over to Feich's where she allowed her ears to pin all the way back and her tail to tuck up under her belly a little.
“This… This is Feich. He was the youngest, and the best little brother I'll ever have.” She clamped her muzzle shut as she felt a whimper try to worm its way out and stood there silently for a moment before continuing. “He, too, was pure German Shepherd. After Faline died, I did the best I could to take care of Feich and myself, despite my depression.” She let a dry chuckle slip through her snout and glanced at Kuro with pained eyes. “It hit me hard, the way she had to go. And add that on top of Tomah's death not too long before…” She trailed off and dropped her gaze once more.
“Anyways, we were on our way to one of my lesser sources for food and other supplies when we found the place was being hit up by angry druggies. We turned tail and ran as fast as we could, but fate wasn't on our side.” Her body trembled fiercely, and not from the cold. She quickly sat down, her head still bowed. “Feich got caught in the flank with a stray bullet, which I managed to remove. But it was his time to go and that bastard God decided that he would go painfully.” A vicious snarl ripped through her throat, her blood boiling for a second, before all the fight left her and she let her body crumble down onto her belly, her front paws crossed and head dropped on top of them.
“His leg got infected badly and his health went down the drain within days. I didn't have any money, and technically I'm dead. The police don't know that I'm the same little girl who ran away eight years ago to escape being put up for adoption.” A slight snort left her and she ignored the particularly cold breeze that shoved its way through the cemetery. “I had to put Feich to sleep, too. I think it was harder than putting Faline down, simply because he was the last of my family left and I didn't want him to go.” A dry, humorless bark of laughter left her and she shook her head. “Didn't matter. I cared too much about him to let him suffer like that.” She paused.
“I miss them a lot. I'm still not fully over their death's, even after all these years. Granted, it's only been two years now since I had to put Feich down but still. Two years is a long time when you the last ties to your past life have been cut rather harshly.” Trinell shook her head, suddenly feeling a little out of control. She knew she was about to lose it again, about to break down. She didn't want that to happen, not after Kuro had shown so much self-control while talking about his beloved Sakura.
Adjusting her position, she drew her right paw over her face only to growl in frustration and Shift suddenly, pawing furiously at her eyes for a moment. “Fuck…” She growled, breathing heavily. Forcefully, she snatched control of her rapidly-increasing hysteria and clamped fiercely down on it, battling it back until her breathing and heart rate were back to normal. She took a moment to pull her iPod off of her arm and picked a fast-paced Korean song before setting it back into it's place. She Shifted back into her wolf form as she felt the cold seep into her bones and offered Kuro a pathetic grin.

Kurosaki listened silently with showing any emotions as Trinell explained her sad story. She had been with them for a little over six years, and had watched them all die. That must've really sucked. Kurosaki himself couldn't find it in him to debate who's loss was greater. Because to each other, he knew they each thought their own was. And he wouldn't interrupt that delicate thought process, neither for himself, or Trinell.
"I'm sorry for your loss..." Kurosaki trailed off as his eyes were drawn to a movement near a far-off grave. What was that thing? All russet and redish brown, and it had short hair but Shepherd markings... a mutt? Kurosaki silently arose and lumbered over. He looked over the gravestone and peered down at the thing, which had bright emerald eyes, much resembling Trinell's.
"What are you doing here, pup?" He asked it. It whined a reply that sounded something like 'Mommy and Daddy' then looked at the gravestone. Kurosaki circled around to the front of it to read what it said. It was a double grave, two married people had been buried there. "Kid, have you been crying?" Kurosaki asked, staring down at the sniffling puppy. He violently shook his head and held back tears. Of course, he was like Trinell in that way too. Well, he needed a home. "Kid, come with me." Kurosaki said, and began walking back over to Trinell. The puppy followed obediently.
"Trinell. This puppy hasn't got a home, and I'm not allowed to have dogs at my apartment, do you think you can take him in?" Kurosaki asked, prodding Trinell in the shoulder with his nose.

Trinell was thankful when Kuro merely said, "I'm sorry for your loss..." but didn't near her, despite her liking him. She knew that if he had gone near her, she would have probab;y started crying and so his keeping was a blessing in its own way. She only flicked her ears when she heard Kuro get up and, after a moment, adjusted her position so that she was laying more comfortably on her belly with her hind legs pulled up close to the soft skin and fur there.
She yawned widely, her ears pinning back and her lips drawing up over her teeth to clearly show the dangerous and well-cared for weapons, just as she heard Kuro walk up with what sounded like uncertain little paws following him.
"Trinell. This puppy hasn't got a home, and I'm not allowed to have dogs at my apartment, do you think you can take him in?" Trinell promptly snapped her jaws shut and perked her ears as she heard this, turning her head to look at Kuro and the puppy and blinking in shock when her eyes landed on the small puppy that looked to be almost completely German Shepherd.
Automatically she was turning her entire body to face the puppy with a gentle smile, carefully looking it over with trained eyes and feeling slightly relieved when she saw no injuries on the young thing. "Of course I'll take him in. I wouldn't dare to leave such a young thing out here all alone." She said softly, locking her eyes with the glowing emerald eyes that matched her own. She felt a smile grow on her maw and wagged her tail softly, inviting the puppy to come closer. "I'm Trinell, pup. Come here, let me make sure you're fine, okay?" She said softly, using the same tones for the puppy that she used whenever Andrei was panicking or terrified of something. Soothing, gentle tones that seemed to come naturally to the fay.
For a German Shepherd, his coloration was a little off but he definately had the ears and head of one. His body was a lot like a German Shepherd's too, but she could see that he wasn't purebred. Maybe he was part hound? It would explain his coloration. All russet and reddish brown but with GSD markings...
That didn't really matter, though. He was a puppy, no where near old enough to be out on his own, and she could give him a home. She would give him a home. And, although Andrei wasn't fond of dogs, she got the feeling that the little kitten would quickly grow keen to this particular one, if any. So she watched him, letting him decide if he wanted to be near her or not, because she knew better than to force a young animal that didn't know you to be in your company. It rarely ever ended well, and she got the feeling it follow the normal path if she tried to smother the pup without his consent.

"Of course I'll take him in. I wouldn't dare to leave such a young thing out here all alone.Kurosaki sort of blinked and stared at her for a moment, before briskly shaking his head at the cold and giving a sort of brrrr sound. Then he sat down. "Trinell; Always the mommy." He chuckled lightheartedly. He was in a better mood than before, if only because the kid had showed up and sort of brightened the day. It had blood and red colored markings, a smaller, though still built build, and German Shepherd markings. Not to mention, unnatural bright green eyes. That the thing that stood out most about her. "I'm Trinell, pup. Come here, let me make sure you're fine, okay?"The pup must've taken some offense to that or something, because her fur began bristling like no other. Kurosaki peered down at the pup, counting down the seconds until explosion. '3... 2... 1.. Bam.'"I am fine! I'm not fragile, you know! Just because my parents died doesn't mean I'm hurt or anything! I'm just a little sad is all." The puppy barked, having jumped to her feet when spoken to. he was quite... Spunky, to say the least. Full of vigor and pride. She turned her back to Trinell, with a 'Hmph.'Oh great, a classical princess. Kurosaki began doubting his judgment. Was he really right in bringing the little princess back to them? Jesus, she'd learn to behave living with Trinell though.... Or would she? Would the pup's stubborness win out over Trinell's... Trinell-ness? Kurosaki could only wonder. He jabbed her in the shoulder with his paw. "What is your name, princess?" Kurosaki asked, sarcastically adding on the last word. She turned her head to look at him, a fire burning in her eyes. He stared her down just as fiery, and she finally came to the decision to answer. "It's Yuuki!" She said, tearing her gaze away from his with another 'Hmph!'and mumbling something like idiot under her breath. Kurosaki sighed exasperated, and gave in. "Well, Yuuki, my name is Kurosaki. Since your a kid, you can call me Kuro if you want to." He said, as if it was a burden to be around the kid. Which it was. The little girl had obvious ego problems. He gave those a week before they were beaten out of her by Trinell's unrelenting voice. Though he didn't particularly mind Trinell's unrelenting voice. Hell, he could listen to her talk for hours, and still pick up every word she said. And, true, her punches did hurt quite a lot, but he never really could remember just where it was, or quite which bone was fractured where. Only certain things were memorable for certain people he guessed. "I'll get another rabbit, since we're occupying another now." Kurosaki said, rising and jumping over the fence again. He walked along the path, noticing a small burrow at the roots of a tree. Sniffing around, he found that it smelled only like rabbit. It was a den. Being as they were wolves, baby rabbits were on the menu as well, weren't they? Needless to say, they were on the menu for him if none. If Yuuki and Trinell wouldn't eat them, then he'd just be fuller anyway. He dug at the den, trying to get his head in. Finally he managed, only to be greeted by a large rabbit with three... er, what were rabbit offspring called? Hops or something? Whatever. The large rabbit made a dash for the back entrance, but Kyo snapped it's foot in his jaws before it got far. It flailed and kicked, scratched and clawed it's way forward, but it was to no avail. It was snared. In a quick movement, Kyo had it pinned and it's life ended. He scrambled backwards out of the hole, his prize in his jaws. He set the rabbit down and hook himself of dust and debris. He lay the rabbit down beside him, and peered into the den, where three furry bodies huddled together and stared at him. He blinked, but they didn't. Their eyes were dead locked on him. "Jeez don't stare, that's just creepy! Kurosaki exclaimed, shaking his head, before knocking them foreword with his paw. "If you three can't scram, I'm going to eat you." He said in an uncaring voice, as the small rabbit fumbled and bumbled over each other and scrambled away. Taking his prey back in his jaws, he made his way back, the large rabbit filling up his maw. He jumped over the fence with ease, then sat between Trinell ad Yuuki, not particularly close to either. He put the rabbit down in front of him, then looked at Yuuki. "You get to eat with Trinell. I don't share my meal with anyone that's not mine." Kurosaki said, laying down and beginning his meal silently. [/blockquote][/blockquote]
