All around the carnival was the smell of sweets and the sound of screaming marches, the light from glowing attractions and the whoops of laughter from happy children. The scene was simply buzzing with activity; people swarmed to shooting galleries, tilt-a-whirls, concession stands, and especially the roller coaster. Thao grinned broadly, taking in the cheery, electrified atmosphere. It wasn't exactly the Big Top, but hey; who was he to complain? This was still fun!The young teen pulled his pack more securely onto his back, and simply beamed at the sight ahead of him. Any number of fun things awaited him. I just have to pick what to do first.
Walking over to a less crowded area of the busy carnival walk way, Thao took a better look at the available attractions. The roller coaster and Ferris Wheel were quite obvious, but an overlooked fun-house and carousel were now visible. Out of habit, Thao checked his watch. 5:16. He had plenty of time before he had to go home. He could visit about half the park before closing time, and possibly more if the lines weren't bad.
Thao stepped back into the crowd from his empty little spot, melding in easily with the bustle of carnival-goers. He had finally decided what he was going to do first; the fun-house. And you can't exactly go through an attraction unless you wait out the line first, thought the excited shifter. He reached the back of the line, and began humming a tune as he waited patiently.

From the carnival entrance, a tiny, Asian girl timidly stepped. She was just under five foot, but had a mature air about her. The girl's breath caught in her throat, as she gazed around, slanted eyes as wide as they could go. Her eyes sparkled, reflecting the carnival lights. She had never seen anything like it. Taavi slowly walked forward, trying to look at everything at once. There was popcorn, corn on the cob, all sorts of candy, and more rides then she knew existed! She jumped to the side of the roadway as a crowd of screaming kids ran past her. Her heart lurched and she wondered if one of those were her siblings. 'No.' She reminded herself, 'That would be impossible'
Wondering where to start first, she wandered around a bit. As she looked about, she realized how many guys were here. Feeling self-conscious, she blended herself in with a group of young girls. Her height made her inconspicuous, and only her serious little face gave her away. Feeling safer, she glanced around, and realized she was in front of the fun house. 'Good! That's where I wanted to start.' Taavi's face lit with a slight smile, which almost immediately vanished.
As she looked up and down the line, she noticed there were only a few guys - the nearest being a tall guy with a pink stripe in his bangs and a backpack. Taavi shrunk back, and tried to hide herself behind the other girls - that not being too hard, since they were mostly taller then her. She cautiously peeked out at him, her silkened hair falling across her face, creating a barrier between Taavi and the rest of the world.

Thao bounced on his heels, eagerly waiting for the line to move forward. It wasn't that bad, really; there were a lot of people ahead of him, but it was moving pretty quickly regardless. To pass some of the time, the teen curiously looked around. There was a small gaggle of friends, mostly girls behind him...wait, what was that? Thao could have sworn he just saw a sheet of black hair disappear behind one of the taller girls. That's weird...am I seeing things? Brushing his bangs out of his eyes, Thao turned back around as the ticket taker called for the line to move up. No...I'm pretty sure about what I saw. He glanced back one more time before patiently settling back in the waiting crowd.
"I'm hungry. Does anyone else wanna ditch this and get something to eat?" said a voice behind Thao. Glancing over his shoulder instinctively, he saw it was one of the girls from the small group. After she had spoken, a few girls began to nod and mutter in agreement. Suddenly, the group moved away towards the food stands, leaving behind...Aha! That's who I saw! An extremely petite Asian girl stood across from Thao, her black hair hanging over her face as though it were shielding her from the world. Almost as soon as the group of friends had left people were starting to bustle behind the small girl as the ticket taker called "NEXT!" Geez. People are so impatient, though the squirrel shifter with a hint of annoyance.

Taavi glanced around, pleased at how quickly the line moved. Taavi had always enjoyed hearing about the fun houses. There was something that seemed magical about them - that made her feel like she could escape her past, and be anything. Too bad she couldn't feel like that all the time. The group of girls in front of Taavi grew quiet for a moment, then a taller blond spoke, "I'm hungry. Does anyone else wanna ditch this and get something to eat?" Taavi leaned around her human 'shield' to get a look at who was talking. 'Please say no, please say no.' Taavi mentally chanted to herself as Thao glanced back towards her again.
As the girls all chorused 'yes,' Taavi rolled her eyes. Just her luck.
The girls all migrated over towards the food stands, and Taavi watched them go. Great, now there was no one between her and what's-his-na - !! The tiny young lady looked back to see him watching her. Taavi's eyes widened, and she held her head up high. 'Don't let him see your fear!' She told herself. She stood, rooted to the spot until a hefty man stood behind her, He had a kindly face, like Santa Claus, but it was enough to make Taavi move up in the line. She stood stiffly, sandwiched between Thao and the big man. Positioned sideways, so she could keep an eye on both of the 'evil men' that surrounded her, she considered going someplace else. But she had already waited in line, and she was almost to the ticket counter!

The man behind the curiously small girl moved up closer, suddenly dwarfing her in comparison. Thao could have laughed; the way he loomed over her, he looked like a giant! He didn't have time, however, for the girl walked forward, her head held high. The movement had moved the hair out of her face and for a second, their eyes met - her's were filled with a sort of...defiance? Defensiveness? Thao couldn't really tell.
As the line stopped shifting, the taller teen noticed something strange; the girl was standing perpendicular to both him and the man behind her. She seemed to be acting cautious around them, watching them with a wary eye. Thao raised an eyebrow at this, but he turned back around. It wasn't his place to judge, anyway.
"NEXT!"
The line lurched forward as the few people ahead of them were let through. The ticket keeper snapped the gate shut right in front of Thao. Suddenly, he was all smiles as he happily resumed bouncing. It's almost my turn! the boy thought happily. All thoughts about the strange behavior of the girl behind him immediately vanished.

"NEXT!" squawked the ticket taker. Thao whipped his head around, and a couple more people were allowed through. Thao was next in line, Taavi right behind him, the jolly-looking man behind her, and then a whole passel of people behind him. A random loose dog raced through the middle of line, knocking a couple people over. Mr. Santa Claus, as Taavi dubbed him, leaned over to help them get back up. In doing so, he knocked into Taavi. He just gave a little bump, but it was enough to send Taavi crashing into the tall one.
Mr. Santa Claus didn't even realize he had bumped into the mini Asian. Taavi looked up at Thao with frightened eyes. What would he do? Hit her? Call her names? She gave a little gasp, fearing the worse.

The sound of barking suddenly cut through the air, and before he knew it, Thao felt the small girl behind him bump into him. It didn't last long, however; a split second after they made contact, she shrank away fearfully. The taller of the two felt a twinge of pity as she looked up at him with frantic eyes. The way she was acting, it was as though she had expected him to get angry for a simple accident.
"Close call, huh?" Thao said a little awkwardly, trying to dispel some of the terror in the small girl's expression. He couldn't stand to see her like that; he was supposed to make people happy, not scare them! "I mean, the dog could have charged at us instead..." He lifted his eyes to survey the damage. Everyone seemed shaken, but fine. The larger man had gone to help people get back on their feet and dust themselves off. "At least everyone's okay..." Thao murmured.
"Hey, kids. You're next."
The ticket taker's voice snapped Thao out of his short daze. He grinned sheepishly at the taker, who returned it with a kindly smile of his own. "You have a ticket or a wristband?" the man asked. Thao simply raised his right wrist; dangling loosely around his thin arm was a bright yellow paper band, with the carnival's name printed on it.
"Alright, you can go," said the taker, opening the gate for Thao. "How about you, little miss?" His eyes then focused on the delicate looking girl, still standing a foot or two away from the door.

Taavi still felt caged, between Mr. Santa Claus and Thao. She glanced around, planning possible escape routes. Her head jerked around back towards Thao as he spoke. "Close call, huh?" Taavi didn't even try to answer, knowing she couldn't. 'Besides,' Taavi told her quivering heart, 'he can't do anything to me, I'm in a public place.' Silently, she stared at Thao as he continued to speak, "I mean, the dog could have charged at us instead..." Thao glanced up, possibly to see who in all had gotten hurt.
As he glanced around, Taavi did the same but kept a wary eye on Thao. She noted that Mr. Santa Claus was still helping a mother try to calm her screaming kid. Almond shaped eyes rolled. Good grief kid! It was just a dog, not like it was an UFO or anything. Taavi's full attention was snapped back on Thao as he mumbled something to himself. From what Taavi could hear, he seemed happy that everyone was doing fine. Perhaps he was one of the good guys..But no. Taavi could never trust a man. They pretended to be good, but they all had bad intentions.
"Hey, kids. You're next." a voice jolted Taavi out of her musings. The carny spoke again, saying, "You have a ticket or a wristband?" Thao lifted one wrist, showing a neon yellow wristband.[ u]"Alright, you can go,"
[/u] The carny said, opening the gate, and leting Thao through. "How about you, little miss?" He said, turning his attention to Taavi. She stepped up timidly, dropped a matching neon yellow ticket on his table. As he opened the door, she stepped briskly in, trying to avoid any contact with the carny. [/blockquote] OhOhSea:// I would describe the fun house, but considering that I've never been in one....Soooo...Yeah xD

As soon as he walked through the door, the first thing Thao noticed was the inside of the fun house was dark. Very, very dark. The second thing he noticed was the glowing neon door frame in front of him. There was another frame up ahead, and several more leading down a very long corridor. Weird. This place is a lot bigger than it looks on the outside, thought the teen as he walked beneath one of the frames. When nothing happened, he continued walking. Eerie, but intriguing music played softly as he made his way do-
THUMP!
Ow! Thao backed up suddenly, eyes wide with surprise. It was an optical illusion! Looking closer, the extra door frames were painted onto the black wall ahead of him. The way they were lined up, they made it look like the hallway stretched on for far longer than it did. And I fell for it. Thao was suddenly glad that it was dark, for his cheeks suddenly took on a pink tinge. He looked behind him to see if anyone had se-"Oh, hi there." It was the fragile-looking Asian girl from before.
((OOC: I think I've been in a fun house, but I'm not sure if it really counts. =\ *Googles it*))

As Taavi stepped in, her form was silhouetted in the door. Her shadow was long, making her seem like a tall, and lanky girl. Her almond eyes narrowed, a bit angrily, and she stepped to the side, causing her shadow to disappear. She glanced up to see herself in a long, empty hallway. Empty, except for the tall one. She stood against the wall, hoping he wouldn't see her. Apparently, he didn't, for he walked forward, down the hall...Wait! Scratch that. He walked straight into a wall! ((SHOOT ME! IT"S A CORNY RHYME!))
THUMP!
"Ow!" Exclaimed the tall one, as he backed up. Taavi could only imagine the expression on his face, and her eyes twinkled with good humor. She smiled slightly, and it transform her face from looking like a solemn nun, to mischievous imp. Taavi moved closer as Thao inspected the wall. It was quite the optical illusion, even Taavi had missed it, and she was usually quite good at catching stuff that was out of place. Thao glanced over her shoulder, and she suddenly realized how close she was to a male. She quickly stumbled back, just as he spoke, "Oh, hi there." Taavi's mouth opened, but no sound came out. She snapped her mouth shut, lifted her hands.
"I'm sorry."
OhOhSea://
This is going to sound kinda weird...
Okay, I've either been in a fun house when I was REALLY little, or I've had dreams about being in one...'cause I kinda have an idea of what a fun house is like xD
