HEY EVERYONE. I need help.
My dad is seriously(I dearly hope) considering buying me a drawing tablet in the near future. UNFORTUNATELY, I have NO idea of what tablets are best or even what types are out there. What I'd LIKE to use this tablet for is just basic linearts and coloring. It doesn't have to be really nice since money is an option and it'd be my first tablet -- but I don't want a really crappy one either.
PLEASE lemme know what's what so I can wheedleImeanask for a lovely tablet ^_^

XD Well I have a Wacom Bamboo Fun tablet. It works very nicely and it cost about $80. All considering, that's somewhat cheap, some are like $150. >.< Then again, I'm sure there are cheaper ones. However, this one is good, hasn't had any problems so far, and it just about the right size. ^-^ You could check the wacom site if you want to look for others though. www.wacom.com/index.html

Dang Toki. Where did you get yours from? I went to to both the wacom website and another website(www.newegg.com) that is known for good prices, but at both places that particular tablet is two hundred dollars O.O Did you get yours from a friend or used or something?
And wow. Only eighty dolla? I was pretty sure tablets cost WAAAY more then that xD Hah, if that's all it costs, then I'll buy one myself xDDDD

I have a Wacom Graphire Bluetooth tablet I got for Christmas. I picked it out myself; I have a good friend whose tablet I tested, and she does some very epic art with hers. It does well for me. It's not cheap, cost me nearly $500 (Australian, that's not too different to the US$ at the moment). But it's worth it. Get a medium sized tablet. Too big - means it'll be too slow. Too small - the pen draws too fast. At least, that's what I heard when I was asking for some serious help.
Good idea to do your research because there is some crap out there!! If you want to get used to the tablet, play around iScribble or something - but I warn you, the artists there are childish little buggers who mostly abuse and scribble all over your art. However, you can sometimes participate in games and get some critique for your art work, especially if you are learning how to use a tablet for the first time! That's where I went, and I'm not even a fan of chat rooms/draw rooms.
I got my tablet online on the Wacom shop site. Try looking there for some different tablets. As I said, go for the middle size, no matter what kind you get! I heard from a Bamboo user to get the middle range also, if you go for Bamboo. Bamboo hated me when I tried it at Harvey Norman's - it just did NOT draw properly for me, but maybe it was on a bad setting, so I guess I can't really judge by that.
