Destiny searched his eyes, and found only an honest emotion there, one that twisted her own heart. "Of course it is! I can't think of one reason to lie to you about something that means so much to me," Rune's voice cracked, and he was silent as he studied her. Destiny felt her face grow warm. Rune was so good to her. She glanced down at her slender hands which twined nervously in her lap. The sound of Rune's bass voice caused her to glance up again.
"God, Dest. Look at you." Rune's gaze caught her eyes again. "You're still just as beautiful as you were back then...except now you're more grown up. We were best friends back then, and as far as I can tell, there shouldn't be a reason why we still aren't. I would never lie to you, especially not about being your friend. You should know that." Destiny's breath caught in her throat. Her eyes filled up with tears again, but she blinked them away. 'Great. Now your blubbering like an idiot human. Seriously Dest, straighten up!' Rune smiled at her, and Destiny could just imagine him as a dog, wagging that bushy tail of his. This thought caused her to smile - a smile that lit up her face.
"That means a lot to me Rune...A whole lot. I'm not sure if we can pick up where we left off. I've changed a lot since then. I'm no longer the innocent little vixen you knew."
Destiny's eyes took a faraway look and her smile faded as she thought about Morocco.
"I need - ...I need time. I'm still trying to figure out my own life."

He smiled at her, close to chuckling. "I don't think you were ever entirely innocent," he quipped, casting his gaze upwards as if he were thinking. "Nope. Definitely not innocent."
He gingerly touched her shoulder with his fingertips. "You can have that time. I won't rush you into anything you aren't sure about. We can stay on the friends level if you'd prefer." Although I'd much rather we didn't, he mused, but knew that saying that would be too much. Not just because they had only recently been reunited, but also because she might not feel the same way that he was sure they both felt when they were younger. He sighed. What had happened to those good old days? The ones where he could joke about anything, and she'd laugh, no matter how stupid he was being. He missed them. Now, he actually had to watch what he was saying, knowing that the 'I was just kidding' excuse wouldn't work anymore.
"Whenever you're ready," he repeated again, close to impossible to hear.

Rune smiled at Destiny, "I don't think you were ever entirely innocent," he paused, looking upward. "Nope. Definitely not innocent." Rune's reward was a coy glance sent his way. A gentle smile curved her delicate lips.
"Not innocent? Please, I was a little angel. Demonic perhaps, but an angel nonetheless"
Rune's mood turned suddenly serious. He reached out towards Destiny. The slender girl's heart fluttered as Rune's fingers gently brushed her shoulder. "You can have that time. I won't rush you into anything you aren't sure about. We can stay on the friends level if you'd prefer." His eyes took on that look that Destiny knew too well. He was thinking something that he'd like to say, but knew better. His sigh confirmed her guess. A faraway look appeared in his brown eyes. "Whenever you're ready," He murmured.
"I greatly appreciate it Rune. Friends for now, and we'll see if there's more as time goes on."
Destiny's liquid gaze dropped to the littered ground. She studied the trail of wrappers and broken bottles to a large dumpster. There were broken cardboard boxes the surrounded the rusty green metal. Destiny winced as she realized what she was probably sitting in. In a fluid motion, she stood. Sometimes she amazed herself how easy it was - and how natural it felt - to stand on two legs. A slight smile graced her lips as she remembered how long, and how hard she had had to work to learn how to do stand two-legged in fox form. She brushed off her butt, and grimaced as her hand contacted something cold and wet. Deciding against looking, she wiped it off on the front of her pant leg. Turning towards Rune, she held out her other hand for him to take.
"So how well do you know the city Rune? Know any pretty sites?"
Destiny had just come to the city the other day. Being a thief, she was constantly on the move.

The male laughed at the small smirk that he received for his remark about her innocence. "A demonic angel. That's a new one,"
He watched her as she hastily stood up and brushed herself off, then turn and offer him her hand. He gratefully accepted it and pulled himself upright, following her example and brushing his jeans off. Aaah. So that's what she had realized. He grimaced at the thought of having sat in such garbage, but figured that as soon as he shifted back to being a dog, he could go swimming in a lake somewhere and get all nice and clean.
He looked at her in surprise as she spoke again, bringing his slightly-absent mind back to the present.
"Any pretty sites? Sure, I guess I do. The beach has a lot of nice views, and if you wanted to, we could go and visit the park. It's nice and relaxing most of the time,"

Destiny's smile grew wider as Rune laughed. "A demonic angel. That's a new one." The slender girl's silvery, bell like laugh floated easily out. As Rune stood and brushed his pants off, she giggled again at his expression. With a smile gracing her face, she wanly thought to herself, 'I probably should have warned him.' She paused, glanced at Rune mischieviously, then decided, 'Naah.'
His deep, rich voice brought her back to her most recent question. "Sure, I guess I do. The beach has a lot of nice views, and if you wanted to, we could go and visit the park. It's nice and relaxing most of the time." Destiny nodded, "Lead the way m'lord." She said, falling back into old habits of speech patterns. She raised a slender eyebrow and gazed a Rune, wondering if he would remember how much fun they had had together. Rune had always made fun of the little oddities Destiny would use, but he finally accepted them. Though he did, occasionally poke fun at the way Destiny spoke.
