"Uncle Roh! Uncle Roh!" Normally, anyone calling him such names would die. Or at the very least be hospitalized. But not her. Never her.
Anne Ryne was his niece, his brothers daughter, and he loved her more than possibly her own father. She was a fiesty little thing, just five foot five inches with waist length wavy chestnut hair and the same blue eyes as Rohjyx himself. But she was a lot sweeter and a lot more innocent. And Rohjyx was her favorite uncle, out of all of them. And her mother had a lot of brothers (six total).
"Yes, Anne?" He asked, glancing at her sidelong as he pulled into the Park Reserves parking lot. His large black Suburban was filled with young teenage girls; all of which were Anne's friends. They had wanted to go to the Park Reserve but, because their parents were constantly busy, they never had a ride. Anne decided to ask Rohjyx and he, of course, couldn't refuse her. Besides, he quite liked it at the Park Reserve. It was fun to stalk through the forest as a panther.
"How long can we stay?" Asked Anne, her gentle singers voice hopeful. Rohjyx smiled at her gently and ruffled her thick hair. "As long as you want," he assured her.
Opening his door and climbing out, he wasted no time in opening the back door and letting the other girls out. "Careful, now," he said softly as they laughed and hopped out of the truck. He watched with keen eyes as they all clambered out until only one girl was left.
Lisa was a sweet girl, like Anne, but much quieter and much clumsier. And it was proved as she stepped carefully out of the truck and tripped anyways, only Rohjyx's quick reflexes keeping her from crashing into the asphalt. Almost instantly, Bobbi, Allison, and Anne were rushing up to her to make sure she was alright. "Lisa! Are you okay?" Gasped her friends. She nodded shakily, pushing her slim black wire-rimmed glasses back up onto her nose.
"Y-yeah, I'm f-fine. Th-thank you, Mr. Ryne." She stuttered. Rohjyx released her with a slight smile and nod. "Not a problem, Miss Lisa." He said calmly.
Shutting the car door once she was out of the way, Rohjyx locked his car and headed for one of the much more open trails that was in the Park Reserve. "How about we start here, hm? This trail has a lot of beautiful spots along it." He suggested, Anne and her friends nodding enthusiastically. They crowded around him and past him, forming a tight-knit group in front of him once more. Only Anne hung back, the girl hooking her arm through his happily.
"...Hey, Uncle Roh?" She hesitated a moment before speaking and Rohjyxs' attention instantly snapped to her. Anne never hesitated when she spoke to him unless it was something she was worried or scared to say. Eyebrows furrowing under thick ebony hair, Rohjyx patted her arm softly and replied, "What's wrong, Anne-girl?" Anne giggled at his old nickname for her; he had called her Anne-girl her entire life and she had decided when she was little that he was the only one allowed to call her that. But she quickly sobered up and dropped her gaze down to the ground while nibbling on her bottom lip. "Um, well, the girls want to tell you something but they're worried about how you'll take it. Will you promise me not to snap at them when they tell you?" She asked slowly and Rohjyx felt the beginnings of anger coil in his chest. But he gave Anne a gentle smile and nodded nonetheless.
"I promise." He said and Anne rewarded him with a bright smile. Turning to her friends, she called, "He'll listen and he promises not to snap at any of you!" Almost instantly, the girls stopped and turned to stare at Rohjyx. They didn't bother to ask him themselves; if he said he promised then he promised.
"Umm, well, we heard some things at school recently..." Began Jo nervously, wringing her hands before her. "Some nasty things," Put in Lisa softly. "Yeah, some nasty things about...." Bobbi stopped short, seemingly unable to say anything more. Dian took a deep breath then, and blurted, "We heard some people calling Anne a whore and other nasty things like that!" All of the girls cringed then and Rohjyx felt the thin string of anger explode into a roaring blaze of rage and hatred.
Hell no.
Hell. Fucking. No.
No one had better called Anne a whore or anything like that! 'I'll throttle the little fucker!' He snarled mentally, just barely able to keep the hideous snarl off his face.
Seeing the terrified looks of the girls, he realized that he was growling a true panther growl and closed his eyes, taking a deep breath to calm himself. 'Not in front of the girls, not in front of the girls,' he chanted mentally until he was calm again.
Opening his icy blue eyes again, he fixed the girls with a steady but disarming stare. "Who, do you know, was saying this?" At this sweet, gentle Lisa snarled.
"Yes! It was a girl named Amber!" She spat with so much hatred that it stunned even Rohjyx. Such fierce words from such a shy little girl. "She's never liked Anne. It's no surprise that she'd start rumors like that once they got into high school." She added and Rohjyx felt a snarl bubbling up his throat once more. He silenced it and instead ruffled Lisa and Anne's hair.
"Thank you girls for telling me. I'll take care of it, promise." He said, giving them all a warm smile. They smiled thankfully back at him and gave him a big group hug before walking ahead again. Anne hung back and gave Rohjyx a fierce hug around his waist. "Thank you, Uncle Roh," she mumbled. Rohjyx smiled softly and pressed a kiss to the top of her head. "No problem, dear. Go on, go hang out with your friends. I'll keep an eye on you all." He said, shooing her on. Anne giggled and nodded, taking off to join her friends.
All to himself now, Rohjyx allowed a low, furious snarl to rip through his throat, just barely managing to keep it quiet enough for the girls to not hear it. How dare Amber talk about Anne like that! She had no right! No right at all!
The rage welled up within him again until he was gnashing his teeth and glaring at the trees so hard that it was a miracle they didn't go up immediately in flames. He felt it course through every fiber of his body, filling him with burning rage and making his vision turn red.
Amber would die. It didn't matter what she said; she would die. Rohjyx would not let her get away with speaking about Anne that way.

Blink.
“Tony! What the fuck?”
Sigh.
“Seriously. It's a forest-”
“-With a fence-”
“-What else could you expect?”
Amber laughed and smiled at her friends, shaking her head in fake exasperation. “You guys are so...” She sighed at the expense of her friends, but nonetheless, she loved them... like friends. A slightly shorter, red head turned around to face Amber. Her shining, brown eyes peered at her with a joking laugh as she moved her black hair behind her shoulder, “So what? Don't look at us like that! Tony's the one being retarded.” The girl next to her turned to the red-head, “I think she means you're being retarded, Kaitlin.” Her long, slightly wavy, dirty blond hair flicked at the motion. Amber huffed a breath and poked her tongue out, “No, I meant you're all retarded.” Tony grinned and moved up to Amber for effect and said, “So—so, what' you're saying is that... you're retarded? Why are you calling yourself retarded?”
Amber lightly shoved him into the blond-haired girl who then uncaringly pushed him toward Kaitlin. “What the hell was that for, Alyssa?” In a serious voice, Alyssa claimed in an obvious tone, “He was in the way.” But then she gave quick maniac smile. Kaitlin shook her head, “Whatever.” Amber rolled her eyes and took the chance to glance at her surroundings. It was quite a nice day at the reserve. The sun shone high above, yet the clouds covered the land nicely, successfully keeping out the stronger heat waves. A light breeze gave way; the leaves surely ready to pop out soon. All in all it was a nice day. There was no business she had to attend and her friends certainly helped the day get better. Could it go wrong?
Alyssa knocked her out of her revere as she pulled along Kaitlin toward another area of the reserve. “Come on, come on.” Amber gave Kaitlin a look as she obediently followed. She shrugged in return. Tony followed a long, his spiky dark hair and tall figure making it easy to follow along the crowd. Tony turned his head and smiled, “You heard the bitch. Move along now.” Amber smirked and sped past him, “Move along now,” she mocked as she looked back at him.
Bump.
Whoops.
Amber shook her head lightly as she turned to see what she had run into. Alyssa had stopped and stared, in such an obvious way, toward another group of girls. Kaitlin had her back turned—facing Amber, yet cackling while bent over. Amber smiled brightly and laughed at Alyssa's sarcastically annoyed expression. Hearing this, Alyssa promptly came up and punched her; it wasn't hard, but it certainly wasn't light. Amber gasped while still choking back laughter, “What was that for?”
Kaitlin simply laughed even more at the situation. Yet, why did Alyssa ignore her? Generally it was the other way around, but no... “Stop laughing! This is a serious subject!” Tony came up from behind Amber, causing her to slightly jump. “Jeez, anyone home?” He grinned, but without waiting for an answer commented on Alyssa's... comment. “I think they're just laughing because you have a serious matter to talk about.”
Amber turned after getting a hold of her giggles and slapped him on the chest, “Like you're any better.” Alyssa scowled and poked him before yelling in his face, “I'm not talking about thaaaaat!” She backed up after seeing their shocked expressions. Why should they be shocked? She did it all the time. With her back turned toward the other group, she secretly jabbed a finger in front of her stomach, but indicating more toward the subject at hand. “It's that annoying, popular group.” She pursed her lips in a fish-like imitation.
What?
Amber licked her lips, “And?” Alyssa blinked and dragged out the word. “Aaaaannnd?” Kaitlin grinned, “Aaaaannnnd?” Tony flicked his eyes between the two and backed up. “Whatever is happening I am not involved.” Amber sighed, “It depends. Didn't you always want to ghost someone anyway...? Now wouldn't be too bad, but—“ She was cut off by Kaitlin's exclamation, “Yes! This is perfect!” With a grin, she did a little jump in the air. Amber continued as if she hadn't just been interrupted, “But it would be awkward...” Alyssa laughed at her, “You think every thing's awkward!” Amber rolled her eyes, “Whatever. Do what you want.” The two giggled and pushed their heads together, all the while stealing glances at their supposed enemies while Amber watched on with amusement and humorous exasperation for her friends.

Annoyingly high pitched giggles surrounded Rohjyx, grating on his sound-sensative ears, but he ignored it for his niece's sake. She and her friends were having a good time as they walked, laughing and randomly asking him questions. Like now.
"Hey, Mister Rohjyx! What kind of animal is that?" A carefully manicured light blue nail pointed to young wolf that looked terrified, going so far as to crouch down close to the ground with its ears pressed fearfully against its scalp and its tail tucked close to its belly. Rohjxy frowned. He wasn't the biggest fan of wolves, being a panther and all, but still. It was just a pup.
Carefully, Rohjyx stepped in between the girls and the wolf, his back to the animal. "That's a wolf pup. You'll want to leave him alone; he's scared and might attack." He explained. Automatically, the girls all went, "Awwwwww! The poor baby! Where's his family?" Mentally growling as he saw them begin to inch forward, Rohjyx fixed them with a light glare. "His family is out in the forest somewhere. Now, come on. He's scared of us. If we leave him alone he'll go about his way just fine." He said, ushering the girls along. They sighed and cast pitying looks back at the poor wolf but shuffled along anyways, quickly going back to talking about whatever it was they were talking about. Rohjyx didn't apy attention.
At least, not until he heard a sharp gasp come from Lisa and Dian. They quickly pointed behind Rohjyx to where another group of teenagers were and, with all the discreet skill of a professional assassin, Rohjyx glanced over his shoulder and quickly took in the group's appearances. He recognized the short girl with black hair from Roscoe telling him about her being a Shifter. He brushed them off nonchalantly until Lisa growled a particularly furious, "Amber."
That got his attention. Snapping his eyes to Lisa, he calmly (mentally he was congratulating himself on not growling like he wanted to) asked which one was Amber and was quickly told that she was the one with the black hair. In his mind's eye he could see her. She was fairly small, looked quite fragile, and he knew that she was a cat Shifter. Roscoe had told him about her and he had been planning to look her up with his Scouts but never had the chance. Something was always pulling him away before he could.
Snarling mentally, Rohjyx had to do his very best not to smirk sadistically at the painful things he had rushing through his head. How he would kill her. How quickly he wanted her to beg for death.
Well, maybe. He might just kill her quick and easy in his panther form and leave her out in the forest. Ooooo, that was a good idea. He would definately get her out into the forest. But how? She was with a bunch of her little friends. They would know he was the last person to see her. Unless... he sent his Anne-girl and her friends home (Dian could drive very well), Shifted, and drew her out into the forest like that. Hm. It could work.
"Uncle Roh? Can we go home now?" Came Anne's soft, nervous voice. Rohjyx instantly snapped out of his musings and gave his niece a soft smile. "Yes. But I have to take care of something while I'm here so why don't you have Dian drive you all home? You can just leave my car in your driveway. I'll take a cab home." He said with a smile and smoothly pulled his keys from his pocket and handed them to Dian. The girls looked at him oddly for a moment before shrugging, taking the keys, and making their way back along the straight road. Rohjyx followed slowly, making sure to make eye contact with Amber as he passed their group.
He followed them back out to the truck and made sure they were all set and buckled in before giving his niece a tight hug and a kiss and shooing them away with the promise that Dian would keep them safe.
The Leader of the Assassins waited until his truck was well out of sight before letting his dark rage paint his face. Glancing around himself to make sure no one was watching, he disappeared into the forest and, without missing a step, Shifted into his panther form and took off for where he knew Amber and her friends were.
It took him a quarter of the time to get back to his truck to find her, all of the little brats still walking along the trail. Getting a little ahead of them, Rohjyx climbed noisily (on purpose, of course) up a fat tree and perched on top of a branch. His icy eyes narrowed, he let out a low sound just to get Amber's attention and glared directly down at her.
One of the things Roscoe had told him about her: she was a curious person. If he could peak her curiosity, it was only a matter of time before she went to find out what he was.
Rohjyx let his lips draw back in an evil feline smirk, showing his lethal fangs, and felt a low purr rumble in his chest. Oh, yes, he was going to have a lot of fun this time.

Kaitlin laughed as she pushed up her glasses. “I think they left because of you.” Amber rolled her eyes as Tony muttered under his breath, all the while looking away. “I don't blame them...” Alyssa suddenly stopped and yelled into his face. “What did you say?!” Tony zoomed off in a burst of speed. Amber blinked, confused. Alyssa? She and Kaitlin laughed.
Sighing, Amber announced. “Now what do we do?” Kaitlin poked her tongue out at the shifter, “Go after him?” She shrugged. Amber stuck her tongue back out childishly. “Whatever, fine.” She ended in a hard tone. She liked Tony, she really did, but sometimes he was just not worth finding. It's not like they could leave without him anyway.
Amber spun on her heels and walked off in the general direction Tony disappeared to, away from the trail. Soon enough she found herself closer to the forest. She spotted Tony out of the corner of her vision, leaning against the fence with his arms crossed. The two spotted each other seemingly at the same time. He waved. With a smile, Amber waved back. She took a step forward, but was caught be a delicate sound to her ears.
A growl.
Amber stopped. She blinked and looked about, confused. The people ambled about her, grumbling at her sudden halt in the middle of the trail. “Watch it!” She muttered a quick apology before turning back to Tony with a blink. He raised an eyebrow at her. Curious about the growl, something to which only she appeared to hear, she held up a finger to him—silently asking to wait. Maybe only she could hear it because she was trained to. Shrugging it off Amber glanced around, her eyes hovering uncertainly long over some areas like the trees and bushes, or beyond the fence...
There!
Amber's eyes widened. A... what was it, a panther? She could barely make out the sleek fur of the panther up in the tree. It's icy blue eyes gazed coolly back at her, to which she narrowed her own golden yellow eyes. The hair on the back of her neck stood straight in fear. Yes she was afraid. Although she could guess that it wasn't a normal panther, Amber was only a cat after all. She was known for her brains, strategy, common sense, and ability to keep cool. Fighting wasn't her.
Frowning, she turned her body and disappeared through the crowd as a confused Tony shot confused looks after her. As she reached the edge of the forest, Amber glanced around. No one was watching, well really, no one was there. With that, Amber turned back and slipped through a small hole in the fence, crouching as she did so. As she reached the other side, Amber quickly backtracked toward to where she saw the panther, only, she was on the other side of the fence now.

Rohjyx's gaze snapped to the side as he heard Caela speak, irritation clear in his icy blue gaze, and he wasted no time in pinning his ears back, drawing his lips clear up over his teeth, and letting a furious growl rumble from within his chest. "You'd do well to leave now, stupid girl. You don't want to get between a panther and his prey." He snarled at her viciously. He quickly returned his attention to Amber.
Rohjyx watched with narrowed eyes as Amber looked around for him, her expression confused as she looked through the trees for the source of the growl. Her eyes landed on him and widened in shock. As Rohjyx had expected. It wasn't very often that people saw a full grown black panther in a tree close to a city that wasn't in some kind of enclosure.
He kept his eyes on her as long as he could, only swapping sight for sound when the trees got in his way. It wsan't long before she was in clear view again, however; Rohjyx felt a pleased sort of anger within him and locked his eyes with hers. She still looked a little confused and Rohjyx felt a twinge of annoyance at her. 'This is their SiC? Pathetic!' He growled mentally, standing up on the tree branch only to leap down to the ground with the liquid grace that all cats seemed to possess naturally.
Landing on the ground with a dull thud, Rohjyx took a step for Amber and pulled his lips back over his enamel weapons with a low, mean-sounding snarl. His ears went back against his scalp and his eyes narrowed at her. "What are you doing here?" Rohjyx's snarl grew in volume at the question and he stalked closer to her, his powerful muscles rippling under his pelt and tensing and releasing with each motion.
"What am I doing here, you ask? I'm only here for one thing, foolish Thief girl, and that is your death. And I will get it." he spat, his tail lashing behind him as all of his muscles began to tense in preparation to leap.
He would take down and destroy that cat if it were the last thing he did.

His paws stretched out in front of him as he stalked closer with grace, muscles rippling with strength. The panther's tail lashed to and fro, its eyes slits in anger. Amber stumbled back a few steps, ever so slowly. The feline's chest rumbled with growls and its ears were flattened. She presumed it was muttering something, but she was unsure of what. However, one thing she knew was that she was sure it was an Assassin, presumably Rohjyx, their leader.
In a spur of adrenaline, Amber pushed off with her food and sped off. In mid-stride she quickly shifted, expertly landing on four paws. With her tail waving behind her, Amber sped off, kicking up pine needles and leaves. If luck was on her side, a few might get into Rohyx's eyes, and she could possibly get away. Amber wasn't that far off from the fence anyway. With adrenaline and fear pushing her on, Amber ran with ears flattened and body low to the ground.

Rohjyx let Amber get a good five feet away before he leapt after her, almost landing on her tiny Shifted form. He stayed back, though. He didn't want to end her just yet. No. He wanted to play a little. Let her think she might actually have a chance at survival.
The leaves and pine needles she kicked up went completely unnoticed as they flew up around him, being kicked up by the tiny little paws on Amber's body. Such a tiny body, he could probably rip her in two if he wanted to. Well, really, he could do just about anything and kill her. Stomp a paw, slap her with a paw, bite her... There was an almost endless list of what he could do. Biting sounded fun, though. But where would he bite? 'Well, I could always bite her head off; literally. That'd be a rather gruesome death. Hmmmm, perfect...'
Growl-like purr rumbling in his chest, Rohjyx finally stopped holding back and sprung forward, one of his massive paws landing harshly on Amber's back and shoving her into the ground. As they slid to a stop, Rohjyx dropped his head, his powerful jowls opening only to close on Amber's considerably smaller head. Snapping them shut with amazing force and completely ignoring the blood the exploded into his mouth, he jerked his head roughly up and to the side, yanking Amber's head off in a matter of seconds.
Purring loudly, Rohjyx let Amber's bloody head fall from his jaws and drop onto the vegetation-covered floor. Blood making his dark fur gleam, Rohjyx licked it away and stepped back off of Amber's limp and broken body. Her head had landed close to it, facing the body in an almost amusing way. Snicking happily, Rohjyx cleaned his paws of the blood before hopping over her body and taking off; he had to walk home this time so he preferred to get as close to Shelpey before he left the Park. He just so happened to know an easy way out that wasn't too far from the outskirts of the town, and it'd cut his time down by a lot to go that way.

[atrb=border,0,true][atrb=cellSpacing,0,true][atrb=cellPadding,0,true][atrb=width,400,true] | [atrb=background,http://i48.tinypic.com/ips09s.jpg] Death is not something that is easily faced. It is not a simple concept and it was not something Amber was ready to face. She had not done everything she had wanted to do or had yet to do. She wanted to keep living her life! She wasn't ignorant though, no. She knew that one day, she would die like any other, it was inevitable. However, there were still thing she could do to delay that day, but what to do now? She did not know.
Her breath came out in quick puffs, her heart thumped wildly against her chest like a drum beat while fear and adrenaline pulsed through her veins. Eyes wide and body low to the ground, Amber pushed her legs faster in long bounds, panting as she did so. The hot heat beat down on her back causing tears of saliva to roll off her tongue as she pant heavily. The sun's rays flashed off her eyes, a golden hue to which she was named from. Fear reflected in their depths in that moment.
Next to the fear, Amber could only think about how many things she would be missing out on and how many people she would be disappointing. Poor Cleo, what would she do without all the gossip that the two shared between each other? Caela would become more dark, possibly losing her sarcastic demeanor. That would not be good. It's what made Caela... Caela. What would happen to the rest of her beloved friends? Certainly they would miss her, but she didn't want anyone to change. Amber didn't like the situation anymore than the others would, if they find out, but she didn't want to think about that right now.
The cool breeze whipped past her as she jumped through the rugged brush that slapped against her sides. Amber cocked her head and briefly glanced behind her. The large, black shadow-like beast lagged behind. Its muscles rippled with the action, but Amber wasn't stupid. It was purposely lagging behind, waiting for her to slow down. An easy kill. No energy wasted. It was all a game, this chase. Rohjyx was the cat, and this time, Amber was the mouse. The panther's diamond-blunt claws flung up dirt from the ground while its tail wavered in the air behind it for balance. The black fur seemed to shimmer under the light rays that filtered through the tree canopies.
His eyes seemed to radiate power, control, authority, and danger. However, the danger and appreciation of the hunt seemed to be all Amber could see. This was not good, not good at all. In a rush, Amber snapped her head back and tried to rush forward. It was pretty much hopeless at this point though. Even at this moment, Amber could feel herself slowing. Her legs ached painfully and her muscles seemed stretched and torn. It seemed as if her senses were heightened, everything seemed louder and it was almost awkward had it not been for the situation.
As she ran for her life, Amber could hear the light rustle of leaves as her exhausted paws clipped the dirt and the panther's excited growls and its near-silent treading as it lazily chased after her. Her breaths came out in loud puffs and way beyond for a moment, Amber thought she could hear the playful laughter of the people as she neared the center of the park reserve. Oh, why did she have to go and break the rules? She should have never squeezed through the tight fit in the broken fence. It would have been better to tell someone about it instead rather than to explore it. Foolish! You're so foolish Amber!, she mentally scolded herself.
“Stupid...”
She huffed pitifully to herself, knowing no one would hear her. She couldn't cry for help, her throat seemed blocked. The air was being sucked from her lungs like a vacuum cleaning up dust. She only had enough oxygen to run, faster than she ever had before, but not now. She was slowing. She knew it, the panther knew it, and it seemed the time had just been horribly unfortunate. A dark, malicious growl alerted her to the panther as it leapt forward. A heavy pressure hit her back and she tumbled forward, thunking her head on the dry mud beneath her.
She could feel the tug at her tail and neck fur, sticking straight up in fear. A seeping wet liquid trailed down off shoulders, staining her smooth fur red. The tangy aroma reached her nostrils as she lie on the ground, the air being forced out of her lungs. There was nothing she could hear anymore, or feel for that matter, only what was inside her. Even now, in the encasing shadows in her vision, Amber could hear and feel the drum beat of her own heart.
Thump. Thump. Thump. Thump... Thump... Thu—.
