Dean lamely waved to Kitten and Kyrian and left with Saphira, the storm whipping at his coat and drenched hair. The wind circled around his feet, begging for him to go back to where he knew he belonged. It was hard sometimes, being cut off from the sky, even as close to it as he was. It was as much a part of him as his eyes, his tongue, his heart. Dean looked up at the torrent of thunder, lightning and rain shifting in the air, then looked over at Saphira and couldn't help but let a small smile slip
The sky could wait a little longer.
The pair walked through the brush and trees, Dean's boots and jeans shielding him mostly from the thorns. They trudged in the mud and leaves, the rain coming down harder than ever now. The woods became thinner and Dean thought he saw a place the bats that Saphira was looking for might be hiding. He pushed forward a little quicker, confident that he had found them. A branch snagged Dean's collar though, jerking it back. With another undignified yelp, Dean slipped and fell backward with a wet squish.
Dean sighed tiredly, "Why does this keep happening to me?" He hauled himself up, brushing mud and other woodsy debris off of himself. First I run into a freakin tree, and now this. What next, Lightning? He shot a quick look up at the sky in case it was feeling up to the task. Luckily Dean's clumsy luck seemed to be thinning, for no answer came. He looked up at Saphira, and couldn't help but feel extremely stupid.
"Ahem..right. Bats." He said, getting up and continuing to look.
Smooth Archer, really smooth. [/scrolly]

Sephira watched, a bit concerned for the man, as he fell back clumsily, "You must not travel out here much. Either that or you have horrible luck today." She gave a relieve the moment giggle as she walked over and pulled a leaf that had stuck to the back of his shirt off and tossed it to the ground.
"You didn't have to help me with this." She chuckled, "But thank you. You seem like you want to go somewhere else at the moment." She looked up at the sky, knowing how he felt. The sky was endless and full of wonder, the ground was filled with nothing but danger and things for the danger to hide behind, just waiting for you to fall into it's trap. "So, what are you doing all the way out here? You don't look like the hiker sort to me." She grinned, hoping to open up a conversation with him.
(Sorry it's so short)

He thought.
"Plus, how could I let you walk around in this storm on your own? Smile like yours, how could I not help? Anyway, no need for thanks, Its a pleasure"
So, what are you doing all the way out here? You don't look like the hiker sort to me.
Dean coughed out a laugh and returned her smile "Well, I'm usually pretty good when it comes to the outdoors, but I seem to be out of my element tonight" He scratched his head lamely. "One thing that never fails is my luck..." He paused and considered his luck for a moment. "Although it seems as if its improving significantly" He said with a smaller smirk ans a good natured wink.
He stuck his hands in his coat pockets and continued to walk through the rain and trees. "So, not that I mind the rain, but why bats?" [/scrolly]

She gave him a big grin and held up the bag like a kid with a cookie jar, "I brought them some food. I promised the pups some strawberries the other day. They love it when I bring food. They usually come to my house to visit me, but the neighborhood started to complain about them and so they have to stay out here or else the exterminators will get them." She let her hand holding the bag fall back to her side.
A gust blew by, throwing her hair into her face, the rain making it cling to her skin, "Ugh! Knew I should have put my hair back up before I took off from the house." She fought with her hair, finally getting it to settle back down behind her.
She blushed, "I must seem weird to you at this point." She looked down at her feet as she walked, waiting for him to either reply or run off.

"Yeah. You do." He said matter-of-factly. He paused for a moment, smiling for what seemed like the thousandth time since his walk with Saphira. He leaned over, still looking away, "But whoever said weird was a bad thing?" With that he sped up, leaving her a bit behind him.
Eat your heart out Bogart Thought Dean facetiously.
The rain had started to lighten, and the lack of pitter-pattering brought a new sound to Dean's ears. A kind of small squeaking noise, like mice or tiny birds. Dean ran his hand through his hair, throwing droplets around him in a attempt to move his own hair out of his eyes.
"Hey!" He called back over the misty night downpour, "I think I found 'em!" [/scrolly]

Her smile dipped a bit at his first words echoed through her sensitive ears, "Yeah, you do." But it soon returned as he stopped, making her stop behind as he leaned forward and she heard his kind voice speak, "But whoever said weird was a bad thing?"
She stood there, a smile plastered on her face, accompanied by a small tear concealed within the many raindrops that sat on her face as it slid slowly down her cheek. 'Maybe not all humans are bad...' Her inner voice sang in her head.
She snapped back to reality as he called out to her from a ways off. It was at that point she realized that the majority of the rain had stopped, turning into a light sprinkle.
"Hey!" She heard him call out, "I think I found 'em!"
Her face lit up brighter than the sky on the fourth of July as she skipped happily over to Dean, her ears also finally picking up on the sounds of the small flying mammals, "Hey, alright! Awesome!" She yelled out in joy as she took off past Dean in a sort of skip in the direction of the small squeaks and chirps.
She kept looking back to make sure Dean was able to keep up with her, unaware at first that her sudden adrenaline rush had placed her in a fast paced walk/skip along the way.
"I can't wait to introduce you to them. They are really nice and friendly. It'd be even cooler if you could fly with us-" Oops! She stopped and covered her mouth as if she had just insulted the president on national television to his face, her eyes widened in horror and the color drained from her face. 'Why?! Why did you just say that?!' She mentally slapped herself.
She stood there for longer than a moment, unable to speak another word, avoiding facing him. What if he knew about shifters?! If he did, she had just given the most obvious hint known to man that she was one.
'Do I run, or do I stay and act like I was cracking a really bad joke? What do I do? What do I do?!' Her inner voice yelled as she panicked on the inside, her mind tearing itself in two as she struggled to figure out what to do next.
