((Eh well, whatever. I'm flexible. xD Yes. Hannah should be a CC. 8) We'd have so much fun with her.))
Hannah instantly gasped at him, her hand flying to her mouth to cover up her shock. It wasn't working well. Ian grumbled under his breath, so she had taken it the hard way. Some people just didn't know when to stop! Or they really can't take hints. Her eyes shined and were brimmed with tears, ready to slip out. Ian internally groaned, he'd seen this so many times. These people obviously can't take hints!!
"I-i-Ian?" Gosh she even stuttered over his name. Why would she be crying anyway? Just because he didn't like her? "Y-you don't l-like m-meeee? Her voice was high and she stuttered every other syllable. Ian's eyebrows rose, he never said that! He never recalled saying anything remotely like "I like you." He had been trying to give hints that he... well, not... not like her, but... He'd been trying to show that he was uncomfortable. There.
The little mouse, now sitting on his other shoulder, squeaked something. Ian still wasn't sure what the critter said, but he was used to it. People couldn't understand animals anyway, that is, unless you were a shifter. Unfortunately though, he was not in his animal form, so he didn't know what it was exclaiming about. Suddenly the mouse rubbed against Ian, pulling his attention away momentarily. The noises were high pitched, right next to his ear. The man didn't flinch, but he did accidentally cringe. It wasn't the mouse though, just the noise.
He sighed at his position. Here he had woken up this morning, waken up by a call to stop by work before his first class, which was actually a little after noon. Then he was planning to stop by the cafe to get his daily coffee and snack. Then after, to go to the building where his nice office was waiting for him, and next to his classes. After, he would drive home in his shiny, black Scion Tc and finish his work and school work and shower, eat, then go to bed. Sadly, this is not how it happened. It didn't look like it would happen either. It was probably going to be a bad day, things were not going to turn out like usual.
Ian hesitated, thinking about what he would say. Hannah all the while shrunk in sadness. What had she done to make him not like her? She was pretty, and sexy, and funny, and cute, and smart. What else could he want! Her lip slightly trembled. I know he'll give in soon! My adorable face is just too cute to ignore! Finally he said slowly, working out his words. Ian was in no way trying to comfort the girl, he was sure he made it clear enough. He was just being honest. "Well first off, I never did say I didn't like you. But you have to remember, I never said that I did either." Ian wasn't even sure what else he could say. Did he really just have to come out loud and claim that he didn't like her? She was too straightforward, it was just... scary.

Ian cringed again at Adina's loud squeaking, and she instantly brought the volume level down. "Sorry?" She said sheepishly. Ian sighed, probably feeling totally frustrated at Hannah's constant flirtatious attitude. That or he was sighing with bliss. Adina got a slightly disturbed look on her face from that thought. Leaning out over his shoulder, she was able to get a fairly good side view of Ian's face. From the pained look on it, he wasn't in 'total bliss.'
He was silent, perhaps at a loss for words. Hannah had stuck her bottom lip out further, and now it was quivering. Adina stared out it, fascinated. They way it quivered reminded her of her old baby toy, the kind that buzzed when you pulled the string in the back. She remembered that it was a ladybug, and that her dad used to stick in her shirt because it tickled. Adina suddenly wondered where it had gone. Maybe Mom had given it away?
Ian's voice broke through Adina's thought pattern. "Well first off, I never did say I didn't like you. But you have to remember, I never said that I did either." Adina mentally applauded Ian. He was doing his best to be sensitive to Hannah's feelings, yet he was also standing up for himself! Hannah, unfortunately, didn't see it that way. 'How could he be resisting my charm? My elegance? My all around sexiness?' This was going to take some major thinking on Hannah's part - something she didn't do often.
Hannah turned back towards the restaurant, and looked sexily over one shoulder, "I'll see YOU later Mr. Hayes." She said, batting her eyes at Ian. Adina froze as Hannah glared at her. Her beady black eyes grew really wide, and she scuttled behind Ian's neck, to hide her from Hannah. 'Nasty beast.' Hannah thought, as she walked back into the restaurant, hips swaying. Adina began chattering once more - quietly, of course. The tiny mouse was just congratulating Ian on his fine choice of words, and how sensitive he was!

We already HAVE way too much fun with her xD

((That we do! But then other people can too! I should make a waitress for Amber's family restraunt too.)) The expression said the exact opposite for Ian. Her eyes widened in disbelief. Did she really think I liked her? Suddenly a thought occurred to him, this happens all the time! At school, work, the cafe, even when I'm just walking! Do I attract a lot of girls or something? He certainly hoped not. How could he be resisting my charm? My elegance? My all around sexiness? Ian sniffed as he waited for her to respond. Was she taking this badly? Suddenly the waitress whipped around with her hand on the doorway, half open. With a serious face, she cocked her head just so he could see a side of her face. "I'll see you later Mr. Hayes." He'll be running after me once he realizes what he's missing. She blinked slowly a few times, taunting him. Hannah glared at the mouse on his shoulders right before turning back to go inside. Her hips swayed widely as she made her exit, grinning when he couldn't see her. Not much of a wait now!Ian stared after her wide eyed. No, not in astonishment. Not in jealousy. Not in lust. Not even in disbelief. Ew. He blankly listened to the mouse chattering to him in soft sounds. At least it was soft, but they were falling on deaf ears. Gosh, I hope I don't run into her again. Ian made a mental note to himself to watch out for her next time. Not to run into her, but to avoid her. Though subconsciously he was thinking what she did wrong. The girl was too straightforward. She tried to hard. Her voice was loud too and now my ears are practically ringing. She didn't think things through, or listened to what I had to say. He shook the thoughts off, he wasn't even ready for a serious relationship right now. He was too focused on his job. What could he say though, he was a guy. Ian sighed, he didn't like people to be mad at him. He really hadn't done anything wrong! Ian twisted his shoulder around and picked up the critter, who had hidden between his neck and shirt collar when Hannah glared at it. The mouse wiggled in his grip for a moment, but it seemed to relax once it realized he wouldn't squish it. Ian bent down and let the mouse tumble near the edge of the sidewalk once more so it wouldn't get stepped on. He sighed and stood straight. "Well... err, good luck with... whatever mice do." With that he spun around on his heels and walked the short distance to his car. Well actually, it was right outside the shop, but it was still a short distance. He stuffed his hands into his pockets, searching for his keys. Once he heard the light jiggling sound, he pulled them out and unlocked the front door to his metallic black Scion Tc. He swung the door open, careful not to hit the car next to him and plopped himself inside. ((Permission from Tav for Ian to pick up Adina.))

Adina's jaw dropped open at Hannah's parting words. How could she miss it? Adina knew nothing of guys, but she still knew that Ian wasn't interested! "Aww...Poor girl is desperate! Ian you should -" Adina squeaked softly, but cut herself off when she felt Ian lifting her again. "Hey! Cut that out!" She protested in her loudest squeak. Realizing he was just setting her down, she relaxed and wiggled so she wasn't on her back anymore. Ian placed his hand near the earth, and tipped it so Adina rolled off it again.
"You know," Adina advised, licking the dirt off of her silky fur, "You could just ask me nicely to step off of your hand." Ian ignored her squeaky advice, and Adina reminded herself that he obviously couldn't understand her. The boy sighed, and then straightened to his full height, making Adina crane her neck just so she could see his belt buckle."Well... err, good luck with... whatever mice do." "Thanks!" Adina answer cheerfully. "So, what are you gunna do no - HEY!" Ian turned and strode away. "I'm talking to ya Mister!" Adina squeaked, as she tried to keep up with him. Apparently, the man didn't hear her because of the street noise, because he didn't turn around at all.
After dodging a large loafer, high heels, sneakers, and some baby feet, Adina arrived at Ian's car just as he pulled the front door open. Adina was quiet as she looked at him. He was going to leave her? All by herself? Adina suddenly had a scary thought. She wasn't quite sure which way was home anymore. Without a second thought, the mouse popped up into the air, and onto the door jam. As Ian swung the door shut, she quickly scampered into the back seat. The little mouse climbed onto the back seat, then sat tall and proud in the middle of it.
Ian started the car, and threw it in reverse. He then started to drive down the road. Adina hopped up on the armrest between the driver's seat and the passenger's seat on the car. She ran forward until she had a good view of Ian. 'I hope he doesn't get mad at me for this...' Adina thought before cheerfully saying, "Hi" and doing her funny little wave again.
OhOhSea://
We should make the waitress in Amber's restaurant be all shy and stuttery! And she could be really clumsy...Like the total opposite of Hannah! We could name her....Tamara xD -shaddups-
Permission from Toki to move Ian... - Oh, and I did give permission ^^;;

((Yup I gave permission. And yes, we should! We could work on that in a PM maybe? Anyway, mind anyone that reads this, that I know nothing about psychology or cars, so... )) Ian grunted and swung the rest of his body in and leaned down to shut the door. He grumbled about his day to himself, only hoping it would get better. He sighed, already not looking forward to his assignment either. Ian was working in the study of the mind, psychology, to be a psychologist. He thought it was interesting, to be in the mind of people. He wasn't sure, but it may just help him in his future as a shape shifter too. Of course he had a degree in psychology, allowing him to study at a university, but he wasn't there yet. He sighed, since he was technically still just a student he had a lot of work. Ian was not exactly looking forward to it to say the least. He stuck his keys into the key hole and started the ignition. The car rumbled to life, a light, gentle purr. He smiled to himself for buying this beauty. Ian sat up straighter, and clicked his seat belt on--something his parents drilled into his brain. He pulled the gear into reverse and lightly put his foot on the pedal. He glanced out the windows to make sure no car was coming, and to make sure no one was behind the car. He hesitated to make sure no kid was behind the bumper, and when he saw no one walking across, he backed up. Ian zoomed out and drove down the road. Suddenly his phone vibrated quietly and the ring tone sounded out. Our lives are made, in these small hours. These little wonders, these twist and turns of fate. Time falls away, but these small hours. These small hours, still remain.Ian blinked, and without taking his eyes off the road, he pulled his cell phone out of his pocket. He knew it was unsafe, but so many people did it every day. The road was not that crowded, only nine or ten other cars were even in sight. Many people were awake actually, but he was just going down a road that wasn't as busy. He clasped a very nice black iPhone and clicked a button. He set the device between his ear and shoulder so he could grab the wheel with both hands again. He was a careful man.
"Hello?" "Ian! Dude! Where are you? Mr. Williams and I are waiting."Ian sighed at his mate's voice. "You and Williams? I was under the impression that it was just me, but okay. Sorry man. I got a little caught up at the cafe." He briefly heard a little shuffling and some whispering before his friend came back on, "Heh! Okay then, you'll have to explain what happened." In a lower voice he added, "Were you flirting with some chick or something?"Ian muttered, yeah right, under his breath. "Psshh, please. Me flirting? Come on dude, you know me. Naw, she was hitting on me. I tried to get away." Ian distinctly heard someone wheezing in laughter on the other end. "Oh my god Ian! That is so you. You're like a chick magnet! We have to get together after you get this assignment!"His lip twitched, "A chick magnet?" He sighed in defeat, "Whatever. I'm on my way now."
He clicked the home button to end the call. He slid the phone back into his pocket, and as he did he heard a tiny squeak. Ian flinched back his head in surprise, wondering where it came from. He didn't want to be distracted, especially while driving. It's things like this that caused people to die. In the end, he snuck a little glance to his side before looking back to the windshield. He had seen a little brown blur sitting on the armrest next to him. Ian's eyebrows rose, how did that mouse get in my car? He figured the only time that it would've been possible was if the mouse crawled in while the door was open. It wasn't left open for long, so it must have followed him. Flicking his eyes toward the mouse he grumbled under his breath, "How did you get in my car?" Ian sighed, just what he'd needed, another stop. He really didn't want to have to just drop the mouse on the side of the street. He figured, maybe it might know the park. He wasn't too far away after all. He nodded to himself, and switching lanes, took the next turn. The park was already in view as his building had a view of the park, it was on the way. Ian pulled up to the side for a moment. He stopped the car and pulled out the key, assuming this wouldn't take long. No one was really around. School had started for the younger kids and it was after all, he glanced down at his watch, already 8:15. Most adults would be at work. The only ones out were some adults with free time on their hands. Lucky them. He sat there quietly, looking at the mouse next to him, thinking about what to do.

Adina jumped slightly as his phone went off.
Our lives are made, in these small hours. These little wonders, these twist and turns of fate. Time falls away, but these small hours. These small hours, still remain.
Ian reached down and grabbed his cell, without taking his eyes off the road. Adina scrambled closer, wondering who it was. 'I really shouldn't eavesdrop.' She reminded herself as she did just that. She could hear what Ian said, just fine, but could only hear bits and pieces of the other side. 'Hmm, I wonder who Mr. Williams is!' The mouse giggled slightly about the whole 'chick magnet' thing. It was true, Ian did attract girls fairly often!
Apparently Ian heard her, because he suddenly stiffened, and then risked a glance down at Adina. The brown mouse cheerfully grinned and waved. His eyebrows raised, and a puzzled expression passed over his face. Finally, he spoke, "How did you get in my car?" Adina giggled and answered, "Through the door of course!" She paused as she realized he couldn't even understand what she was saying. 'Ugh...I suppose I could go back to being a girl so he can understand me.' Adina thought, not even thinking about the fact that Ian was a normal human - or so she thought.
Without thinking of the consequences for shape shifting in front of a human, Adina hopped off of her perch down to the floor. From there she turned, and faced the seat, resting on her hind legs. Suddenly the car turned, and Adina tumbled over sideways. 'Darn...' Adina repositioned herself again, and then began to grow. Her brown fur disappeared everywhere except for her head, where it grew about about waist length. Ian glanced at his watch impatiently. Adina morphed into a human, resting her chin in her hands, her elbows on the passenger seat. She was kneeling down in the car. She wore a loose, tie-dye tee-shirt and blue jean shorts. A wide grin revealed braces and she giggled as she said. "Hi Mister Hayes!"
OhOhSea:// Yeah, that'd be cool xD

The mouse said something to which Ian frowned to. This mouse was obviously trying to communicate something, but he just wasn't sure. A warning? Greeting? Ian frowned at the mouse. He eyed it carefully as the mouse flew off the seat to the carpeted ground below. It about faced and it suddenly shifted as Ian watched wide eyed. The mouse quickly grew and lost all its fur except its head hair. Soon a girl was in front of him, and for the moment all he could think was, I was right! The mouse was a girl! Of course, it was short lived though.
There really wasn't much to celebrate though as Hannah wasn't exactly the sharpest tool in the shed in the first place... or the fastest fish in the lake... or the brightest star in the sky... or-yeah... After a split second of random though, he finally realized that there was a mouse in his car. Was. Now there was a girl! She was young, just in her low teens--Ian could tell by her kidish face. She was still slim and was about average height, shorter than Ian of course. He wouldn't exactly call himself a teenager anymore.
The girl was crouched between the passenger seat and the compartment where Ian held various work papers and such. Her chin was resting on her hands while her elbows were squished against the edge of the seat, propping her up. Ian blinked at her, mouth agape. Sure he was a shifter, but he never spent time around many shifters. He knew very little and rarely talked to them. The man preferred to stay human thank you very much. It felt odd... to have that, ability.
She wore a loose, tie-dye shirt of many colors along with blue jean shorts. they made her seem... cheerful. He could certainly see this kid as that mouse she was before. It added up. The girl grinned at him with green and blue braces, "Hi Mister Hayes!" The kid whole-heartedly giggled at his expression, which Ian did not find very amusing. He sucked in a breath and quickly glanced around, making sure no one was even trying to glance in his car. No one. Good.
He heavily sighed, this day was not meant to be. If he had to guess, it would be in his top 5 worst days. Although, he wondered if really meeting a shifter would be a bad day. Everything else seemed against him, but in the end it turned out alright. He wasn't exactly late to his mini-meeting, Hannah did end up leaving him alone, and he met a new shifter. He still wasn't sure if meeting the shifter though was good or bad. He didn't plan to stick around long to find out though, he had more important things to do.
"Eh, hi there?" It sounded more like a question than a greeting. Ian was raised to be polite and be aware of his manners, but no one exactly told him what to do if some animal suddenly turns into a human right in front of you. Ian took a breath to calm his nerves and think straight. "Err, I don't mean to be rude, but... what exactly are you doing in my car?" It sounded innocent enough, and he really didn't want to offend her. Why was she following him in the first place? What if she didn't have anywhere to go? Was she just bored? Maybe she saw him before? Maybe ask a question? What was she going to say now?

Priceless. That's what Adina thought of his face. He looked totally bewildered, shocked, stunned - you name it, he looked it! He quickly glanced around, and Adina stretched up so she could see out the windows. No one was around. What was he worried about? He slowly let out his breath, in a heavy sigh. 'Poor mister, having to deal with so much in such a little amount of time,' Adina thought. The man glanced around once more until he faced the girl.
"Eh, hi there?" Adina giggled at his question sounding greeting. He took another deep breath, and let it out slowly. "Err, I don't mean to be rude, but... what exactly are you doing in my car?" Adina watched him with her big brown eyes. "Oh, I got lost, and I didn't know where to go so I - since I kinda knew you - I figured I'd come with you. After all, you didn't let Miss Hannah hurt me or anything, so I figured you were nice, kinda like a big brother would be like! I hope you don't mind, but I don't have anywhere else to go. It's kinda scary to be out there all by yourself, with nowhere to go - Do you know what I'm talking about? Anyways, do you think maybe you could tell me where I am? I'm not sure which way home is - wait, did I already say that?"
Adina paused, thinking over her past dialogue - or perhaps monologue would be a better way to describe it. She fluidly pulled herself up into the seat, sitting back all the way. She cheerfully swung her legs as she started talking again, "By the way, I'm Adina. No need to tell me your name Mister! I already know it! It's Ian Hayes. I've never met anyone with the last name Hayes. It's interesting!" The girl's hands adamantly moved as she talked, her eyes bright and innocent. Yes, in case you hadn't noticed, Adina was a talker. "Oh! I wanted to tell you Mister Hayes! It was so nice the way you talked to Miss Hannah! You didn't hurt her feelings at all! Well, maybe a little bit, but you were very nice!" The girl grinned widely, and sat, her legs still swinging.

The girl paused while Ian stared at her in bewilderment and in curiosity. Lost? The cafe was in the middle of the town square, how could she get lost? Maybe she lives far away. Ian scowled at the thought. Then wouldn't he have to take her home? He could just kind of fly there... but it wasn't normal. Then again, the drive might be long. He shook off the thoughts, he wasn't even sure if she lived far away or not. Don't get carried away there Ian. Wait, she didn't know where home was? That would be difficult. In the end, it really might be better to fly...
The girl suddenly pulled herself up from the ground and sat into the passenger seat. Ian watched her, "By the way, I'm Adina. No need to tell me your name Mister! I already know it! It's Ian Hayes. I've never met anyone with the last name Hayes. It's interesting!" His mouth twitched. Well she certainly was.... interesting. Her hands moved animatedly and cheerfully. She seemed perfectly well talking with a complete stranger. What if he had been someone who really wasn't so kind as he was? He had a right mind to tell her, but it really wasn't his job.
She certainly was a talker though. Ian hadn't been able to put in a single word yet. Did she know the relative location of where she lived? Maybe she was alone. Didn't she have something else to do? Ian was worried that he might be late to his meeting. "Oh! I wanted to tell you Mister Hayes! It was so nice the way you talked to Miss Hannah! You didn't hurt her feelings at all! Well, maybe a little bit, but you were very nice!" With her legs swinging like a toddler, she looked over at him and grinned happily.
Ian wasn't sure if he should be glad, for some odd reason, annoyed for her talking, surprised that she was a shifter--and that she talked to much, or anger that she kept talking. Everything involved talking. Why did he make her so happy? Was she normally a happy person? Maybe he should be scared of her, it was edging onto him. He coughed hide away his feelings. She was just a little girl after all, only just in her teenage years. Those were rough times and he didn't want to add to any of her troubles... if she had any.
"Well, ahh... you can just call me Ian." He scowled, Ian had been a "Hayes" since he was born. It certainly didn't seem all that interesting to him. "And umm... thank you, I guess." He wasn't all that good with talking to children, especially children that shifted like himself. He hardly knew what to say. Not one to beat around the bush though, he went straight to the point, "So, are you really lost? Do you know maybe, the relative location of where you live? Maybe I can drop you off before I get to work..." He trailed off, hoping she could see the point. If she really was there the whole time, maybe she would realize he needed to get to work. He only hoped he hadn't done anything too embarrassing...

The girl kept blabbering about nothing of importance as she glanced around outside the vehicle. She saw a spacious park with emerald grass. Diamond drops of dew still clung delicately to the grass that hid in the long shade of the massive assortment of oaks, maples, poplars, and many more which Adina couldn't even begin to identify. On Ian's side of the vehicle there were business buildings lining the narrow street. At this point, the street was just that, a street with a speed limit of 30 miles per hour. Since the mousy girl was busy talking and taking in her surroundings, she missed the rather interesting look on Ian's face. It looked as though he had just tried a new type of food and was unsure of whether to hate it or love it.
As her monologue slowed to a standstill, Ian took a moment to readjust his thoughts, then talked. "Well, ahh... you can just call me Ian."Adina turned her dark brown eyes on the big man, noting his scowl. Had she made him mad? A worried frown creased her forehead. She certainly didn't mean to make him mad. "And umm... thank you, I guess." The slender kid listened carefully as Ian spoke again. She was a lot more perceptive then most thought she was. Often times she was written off as a noisy kid who knew nothing. Which was true, but one attribute she had gained from her shape shifting abilities was the ability to sense moods in an uncanny way.
Obviously, she wasn't always right, yet she was right a greater percentage of the time. Since moods can be difficult to sense, she'd often misunderstand an emotion such as sadness as depression. The two can be the same, or simply very similar.
Adina carefully searched his voice, his gaze, and his body language for any signs of malice towards herself. Instead she saw a type of self-loathing, or disgust. She also sensed a discomfort of a sort as he shifted in his seat. She said nothing, waiting for him to speak again. It was apparent to Adina that he had something more to say.
"So, are you really lost? Do you know maybe, the relative location of where you live? Maybe I can drop you off before I get to work..." At this Adina beamed brightly. "Oh no Mister Hayes. It took my Mama and Papa quite a while to get here. It's the first time they've let me explore the city on my own. We live out in the country! The city is so closed in, but there are so many new nooks and crannies for me to hide in!" The mouse shifter paused for a moment, thinking. "Mama said to be ready to go by 2:00 by the Cafe. But until then she said I could run around, as long as I remembered the rules." From there, Adina started to list the rules of being in a city - or anywhere for a matter-of-fact.
Eventually she ran out of rules to list. She paused, preparing to go into another onslaught of words.
