The end of the class snuck up on Alex, and he was surprised that he had engrossed himself to much with his work that he had actually missed the last few seconds count down. As the dismissal bell ended and the class bustled as kids shoved to flood out the door, Alex gathered up his belongings and put them neatly back in his messenger bag. Although he appeared to be a very disorderly person on the outside, the teenager was meticulously neat when it came to his papers and notes. Things in his backpack had their place to go, whether it was in the folder in the back, or between his math notebook and history folder, or slipped between his agenda and english books. No matter how chaotic the rest of the world could be, he'd always be able to pull out a specific paper within five seconds from his bag. It was because of this that he took his time putting his things back, making sure that no corners were folded over or wrinkled.
Just when he was about to tug the flap of his bag over to close it, he heard the unmistakable sound of a pencil clattering to the floor. Glancing up from where he was finishing with his bag, he caught sight of the pencil rolling away under the desks and trampling feet of the leaving students. It had come from Audrey's desk.
Slinging his bag's strap over his shoulder, he left his desk and maneuvered around the now-empty desks and past the leaving students. Finding his prize across the room, Alex bent down to retrieve it, twirling the pencil in his hand as he straightened back up and turned to spot Audrey across the room, still at her desk. And now we meet, he thought, crossing the room with pencil in hand. As he approached, he lightly placed it back on her desk from where it had fallen.
Alex glanced up from the desk, taking a breath.
"I think you dropped something, Audrey," he said with a small smile.

Pulling herself away from the window, she finished meticulously packing away her things. After a few moments had passed and the class had cleared out, Audrey was beginning to lose hope that Alex would actually put in an appearance. Maybe she should have replied to the note?! Maybe she should have been more open?! But maybe's weren't going to get her to English class.
Letting out a dejected sigh, Audrey moved to rise. The familiar click of pencil against wood stopped her. Eyes wide in surprise at the sudden appearance of her once lost pencil, she raised her golden maned head to gaze at its savior. There stood a tall boy with messy brown hair that fell on green eyes. Audrey couldn't deny that he was relatively good-looking, and his rather bold appearance only caused a blush to crawl up her neck. Shaking her nerves off, Audrey sucked in the breath she didn't know she was holding and stood at her desk, clenching the pencil in acceptance.
She uttered a small "thanks" and gave an infamous bright smile. It was the first time in quite a few weeks that she'd felt happiness like this. Such a small gesture, such a small accomplishment on her part, made everything, for just a moment, feel brighter. In the past few weeks, her life had seemed to spiral down to confusion, loss, and variable sorrows. This correspondence seemed to be sign of some hope, a new path. For now, she had no choice but to follow it. And she'd do so with smiles.
The emptiness in the class and their current situation felt suddenly awkward. Realizing this, Audrey slung her bag over her shoulder and made her way around the desk, prepared to leave for the next period. They were already running a little late.
"So, um, English, right?" she asked sheepishly. As confident as she was about her new acquaintance, Audrey couldn't help but feel a little shy.

BIC|| Alex felt his spirits immediately lift as Audrey turned from the window as he replaced her pencil on the desk. It was the first time that he was able to see her from the front. She had green eyes, like his, he supposed, but they had a more golden tint to them that caught the sunlight from the window and sparkled brightly. Her hair seemed to match the gold in her eyes, and it too shone in the natural sunlight. She definitely looked a lot different from what he had been able to piece together from her short time at the front of the class, to the longer amount of time that she had been sitting in front of him. He also noted that he didn't seem to be the only one that was surprised. He could see from the way her face lit up that she hadn't really been expecting him to show up after class. He felt proud that he had proved himself chivalrous.
He met her surprised eyes and smiled in return. "You're welcome," he mentioned as Audrey quietly thanked him, stepping back from the desk as she moved to pick up her bag and sling it over her shoulder. He wondered at how shy she must have felt when she first arrived, and hoped that he'd helped to break that scary first impression of the school. Alex planned to try and help her out the best he could, knowing that if he were in her position, he'd want as much support in a new environment as he could get.
"So, um, English, right?" Audrey piped up shyly. Alex readjusted his bag and nodded, leading the way towards the door.
"Yep. The classroom isn't too far from here, but usually these hallways are a huge traffic jam, so it might end up taking a little longer than it should." Alex peered out of the classroom door at the masses of students that crowded the hallway. He mentally sighed. The worst part of the day.

ooc|| What a beautiful table! I do not know how to make tables, so I shall instead enlighten you with a picture. {LYNXEH} Isn't it cute?! It was stretching the boards so I put it as a link instead. For some reason, I can't change the size here. With one last look around the empty classroom, Audrey followed Alex to the exit, just one step behind him. Although not totally in her comfort zone, she felt much more at ease having finally met him. All that suspense that had seemed to build up during the seemingly long hour of math had completely dissipated, leaving a tingling in her abdomen in its place -it was rather irritating actually.
This was the first time all day that Audrey felt she could relax a little. She'd been on her toes from the moment she'd entered the school, in a quiet panic about how the day might develop. Not to say that she wasn't still nervous. She had every right to be edgy; she'd only been through period one! There was still the whole day ahead of her.
But maybe for now, Audrey consoled herself, she'd allow herself to be at ease. She'd made progress after all; made an acquaintance -she wasn't about to call Alex a friend just yet. Perhaps the short walk from this class to English would loosen her up, allow her to unwind. Besides, she was very keen in learning about the not-so-mysterious messenger.
Of course, her calm immediately melted away the moment she took a look outside the classroom door. She quite nearly sweat-dropped at the sight. She shouldn't have expected anything less, it was a school after all. But Audrey had never been to a school of this size (and this type) before, so the mass that crowded the hallway made her quite speechless to say the least. How were they supposed to get through that?
Unsure of how to respond, Audrey turned her head towards Alex, her savior. She looked to him with sparkling eyes for guidance. He was the only familiar student she knew around here. Surely he knew how to trespass such a forbidding labyrinth of high-school students.
"After you...?" she gestured with an awkward smile on her dainty rose lips. ooc|| I must say, my muse was ZERO when I started this. I literally just wrote the first thing that came to mind (+ some editing). I mean there isn't a whole lot to say between the distance from the desk to the door.
