OOC|| Continuation of shelpey.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=cafe&action=display&thread=169&page=3BIC|| It was approaching sunset as two figures stepped from the wooden boardwalk and on to the sun-warmed sand. The taller and more thicker-built of the two turned to offer a hand to the second, more lithe frame, helping her in a gentleman's fashion down from the boardwalk. She accepted his gesture politely and nimbly leaped down from the walkway, touching down on the sand with barely a stagger. After unnecessarily ensuring that she was steady on her feet, the male moved to her side and they linked arms amicably, starting off along the strip of beach in the general direction of the shimmering water. Their pace was leisurely, the four pairs of bare feet kicking up sprays of sand. They watched it shower down in front of them, the taller's head tilted toward the female. "-many other places I could think of," he was saying offhandedly to his companion, gesturing to the scene before them. "So I guess the beach it is." The other, a female, silently watched the sun dipping lower on the horizon, the highlights on her face gradually changing from a light pink to a more stunning orange. She squinted against the glare out to sea. "I think it's beautiful," she commented, soft voice dancing lightly on the sea breeze. Her hair twirled around her, and the male at her side gently reached up to brush the stray wisps from her face. He wore a small, shy smile. "I'm glad you like it. Maybe we should visit here more often."

The great orange ball of fire in the sky seemed to sink with each second. The eruption of clouds painted pink and red, as the rays of tainted light struck through their moisture filled midst. Reached down; down; down, towards the tip of the salty sea. Stretching inch by inch, soon to achieve the daily goal of dieing into the ocean before rising once more. The sun, the god of the entire earth. Giving plant life, which gave herbivores food, feeding carnivores, who died and became nutrients for those plants. An everlasting cycle, all starting at one point. The sun.
Step by step, hide ripping as joints contracted and retracted. A tan cream base, covered in solid black spots. A beautiful and majestic creature, filled with speed and power. No other beast comparing to the speed in which was exerted from the pith of the animal. Incomparable. Exclusive. Unique.
'How the world should see me. Fear me, coward when my icey crystal eyes met theirs.'
It was why Noxx has joined Assassin guild, in an attempt to show some dominance over 'humans' as well as other shifters. How dare anyone call her normal, when it was her life goal to never be compared to that simple adjective. Grown up in hell, beaten almost to death, an independent individual since 14, and a sexual; drug user at that.
Cream claws struck the warm sand as black pads nonchalantly touched it's hot surface. No one understood her, why she did the things she did, had the breakdowns that came weekly. No one would ever understand, even if they wanted to. 'They can all die, I am the bird and then are the worm. Run away...' For a cheetah, these crystal ice eyes that peered at the world were astonishing. An amazing contrast from the golden outlook. It was one of the things that held the fact that she was a shifter, though body changed, eyes didn't.
'Shifters.' Their scent hit her nose before the duo came into sight. 'Fox and mutt... is that affection in the air?' Pace staying the same, hips and spine shifting as each pad struck the earth with such hidden power. Not strength, but the pure power that all large cats possessed. Closer and closer upon the desolate sand did Noxx inch ever closer. Until the red-haired female came into sight. Curious it was, how her arm was linked with the male.
Suspicions complete, Noxx came to the inevitable conclusion that they were a couple. Hackles pricked as a chill ran down spine. Why the fact made her shiver, it was unknown. Probably the fear of the unknown emotion, never had affection been shown towards Noxx, so it was alien. And to anyone, the unknown is feared as exampled here.
Scenting 'human' ahead, lurked into the shadows until a jogger passed. Closer and closer the cheetah came to the boardwalk where the couple had just departed from. Pondering whether to approach as a cheetah, or to make any contact with them at all. What if they didn't want her around? 'Why interact with an outcast when you could be with each other.'
Ears, useful for discarding flies, flickered against small skull. White ringed tail twitching as spine curled up, hind legs springing. Maybe half a mile Noxx was from the couple, and have an experimental entrance, rather than a normal one. Strung up limbs were released as legs spurt forward. A casual powerful walk turning into a full fledged run at approximately 50 miles per hour. Tail flowing up and down acting as a rudder, passed the couple before digging paws into the sand. Coming to a direct stop maybe 10 yards in front of them. Ice eyes staring almost coldly at the duo.
They were both shifters, no one else was around. 'At least not yet.' It wasn't a stand off, rather an introduction, a non-verbal introduction. Noxx, the lovely unscathed cheetah with a messed up mind. 'Hello.'

Destiny and Rune strode amiably together towards the beach. Along the way Rune pointed out places of interested, such as 'the best place to eat is there' or 'they make the best sushi' and so on. The slender girl's bright eyes darted about, taking in all the new sights, and ducking her head whenever she saw a police officer. Without Destiny thinking about it, her mind automatically calculated the best places to hide, or possible escape routes. This was something that had become habitual since Destiny had turned to a live of crime to survive.
As they continued walking down the street, Destiny walked close next to Rune, reveling in the feel of his presence next to her. As they walked along, Destiny often brushed against Rune, causing little shivers to spike up and down her spine. Before the two-some, a beach appeared with a rather large step down from the boardwalk to the sand. Rune stepped down, his longer legs making the task easy. After he had turned back towards Destiny, he offered a hand to help the lady down. With a shy smile, the girl accepted the gesture, and landed softly in the sand.
Rune helped to steady svelte girl causing Destiny to smile at his tender care. It was rather nice to be treated as a lady again - instead of living in the streets and stealing from the humans. Destiny smoothly slipped her arm in his, and leaned into Rune as they continued down the beach. She listened attentively as Rune spoke - adding the appropriate phrases here and there, or laughing softly at something he said.
The male mentioned of how he hadn't been sure where else to take her, but Destiny thought this place was perfect. "It's lovely." She whispered, her words playing on the wind. The salty sea breeze swirled around the two of them, causing Rune's hair to become wind-blown, and causing Destiny's hair to frolic freely on the wind. Rune reached over and gently brushed away the strands that insisted on blocking her view. "I'm glad you like it. Maybe we should visit here more often." Destiny coyly smiled, "I think I'd like that."
A sudden shiver rippled down her spine, and this time it wasn't caused by Rune's nearness. Destiny twisted away from the setting sun and gazed on the buildings that rose in the hazy murkiness that was dusk. Unable to shake the feeling of be watched away, the girl's amber eyes scrutinized the buildings. "Rune," her silvery voice whispered, warning lacing her words, "Do you feel like we're being watched?" Destiny hadn't made it all this way as a theif because she was lucky. No, this girl relied on her instincts.
Hearing the spray of sand, Destiny's head tilted, her ears trying to zone in on where exactly it was coming from. She turned towards the sound just as a cheetah's body came into sight over a slight mound of sand. Her lips instinctively twitched into a snarl, a warning to both Rune and this unknown animal.
Destiny had never seen a cheetah, and she was frightened at this type of monstrous cat that she saw behind her. Not one to show fear though, she stood her ground as the cat thundered closer, sliding to a stop a mere 10 yards away. She naturally took in the scent of this new animal, noting the thick human smell on it. She edged closer to Rune and muttered, "What is it?"
Fear coated her throat, making it difficult to swallow. Destiny conteplated on shifting and making a run for it, but she stayed. Destiny was fairly certain that Rune wasn't as fast as her, and she wasn't about ready to leave him to this monster just when she had gotten him back.

The brown-haired male found that, despite his worries, the time spent together with Destiny wasn't uncomfortable. Slowly he found his mind relaxing, coming to realize that, though they had changed physically, they were both the same in mind. It was a wonderful realization for him; knowing that he could still be himself around Destiny and not offend her by accident. It was like a safety net that he knew he had. He felt confident and secure in himself as the duo strolled along the sand, arm-in-arm.
Out of nowhere, a chilling prickle nipped at his neck, and his leisurely gait stumbled for a split second. His mind suddenly became more aware, thanks to the release of adrenaline that his body shot through his bloodstream. Senses alert, his chocolate-colored eyes darted warily to the side. Why...what was it? Was there something there?
"Rune," Destiny muttered, and he turned his attention to his companion. "Do you feel like we're being watched?"
"Strangely enough, yes," he growled back, eying the stretch of sand behind them. Had he been in canine form, his ears would have been flattened against his head, lips raised only a fraction to show the ivory fangs. But he was not, and in the weak, two-legged form that he was, Rune felt uncomfortably exposed. How was he supposed to defend himself against an attack?
Relax, he told himself, drawing in a breath of salty air. Humans have learned to survive like this. And what could possibly be here to harm us?
His hesitant steps froze in place as his ears picked up the sound of muffled steps in the sand. But...the rhythm...it was the rhythm of a four-legged creature. Instinctively concluding that this was the source of his and Destiny's apprehension, Rune moved into a defensive stance just as the creature topped the sand dune and came barreling towards them.
Rune's eyes widened at the sight. The setting sun's light caught the rippling muscles of the feline as it rushed them, glinting in the cat's fierce ice eyes. They seemed to bore into him, almost as if reading his inner thoughts. The male's breath caught in his chest and he wondered what he was supposed to do to defend himself against that kind of thing.
But he needed not to worry. The large feline gracefully slid to a stop ten yards from them, simply standing in the wake of settling sand that it had disturbed during its charge. Rune watched its body language carefully, wondering what in the world that kind of animal was doing here. It looked like something he'd seen at the zoo; exotic and prideful. One of the large cats- possibly a cheetah? He had heard that they were known for their speed, and this animal certainly was fast. Though he wasn't sure exactly what it was, he knew enough to safely say that it was not the type of wild animal that goes running around the middle of a city. Its sheer elegance stood out against the monochrome environment, and he knew that he was staring in awe at an abnormality.
He locked his gaze on the crystalline orbs that stared the duo down. "What is it?" Destiny asked under her breath, and Rune could only shake his head.

Crystal eyes surveyed the duo, as un-retractable claws struck into the sand. Tail tip flicking back and forth, ears back, as if glaring at the duo. The male, a protective bloke who took his stance in front of the female. He had a type of loyalty to her, 'a couple.' Noxx could of spit on the ground, yet instead kept twitching her tail. Rune, brown hair falling around his skull, muscular body. An easy target, fresh blood, split meat.
Pink tongue swiftly swiped the upper lip and nose. Was it a warning? A chance for them to run. 'Oh I hope then do.' Shifting weight side to side, shoulder blades poking from beneath beautiful hide. Though, now was not the time, not until this petite female with soft skin was observed. Red-head, pale skin, simple clothing, nothing too extra-ordinary about her. Nothing was to hate, though nothing to like. 'Just another human spoiling my air. Though I doubt you two are humans.'
Taking a step forward, let her body lower into a crouch. Lip pulled back, giving forth a low growl, taking one step at a time. Trying to make 'her' run. For if 'she' ran, Noxx's instincts of the chase would take over, and who knows 'boyfriend' might try and save her. Crystal ice eyes locking onto those soft ones of Destiny. Tail barley touching the sand, ready to spring at any moment. 'Run... run...'
Unwinding muscles, a blur of gold and block, the cheetah sprung forward. With a roar, attempted to launch herself past Rune, to force Destiny to run. Not wanting to kill her, but for it to become a game of cat and mouse. 'Hasn't anyone told you not to play with your food? Pfft... this isn't food; this is sport.' Cream claws outstretched, attempted to graze Destiny's arm, to send that shock of fear though the 'humans' body.
'Lets play a game of cat and mouse.'

Destiny crouched into a defensive posture, feeling adrenaline rushing through her limbs. Rune, beside her, was crouched defensively as well, but didn't reply to her question of what type of animal Noxx was. With a frustrated snarl, the vixen focused her attention on the cheetah.
Startling blue eyes calmly scrutinized Rune and Destiny - Destiny's own amber eyes did the same to the Noxx. The spotted creature's tail flicked impatiently back and forth. A bright tongue flickered out, licking Noxx's upper lip and black nose. Destiny instinctively stiffened as the cheetah's stance became offensive. The fox rolled her shoulders, loosening her muscles. She bounced on her toes, testing the footing of the sand beneath her. Destiny was not going to back down.
The ferocious beast growled and stepped forward in slow, measured steps. Destiny merely snarled in response, not even stopping to think what any human that chanced upon these three would think. When the feline catapulted herself past Rune, towards Destiny - the vixen didn't even stop to think. She easily sidestepped the feline, wary of any outreaching claws to snatch at her.
Instantly realizing she was being played with, Destiny growled fiercely. The fox also realized she wasn't' going to win this fight with brute strength. She was going to have to use lightening reflexes, sharp claws, and deadly teeth. Unfortunately, it looked like this monster had those as well. But this was just an animal right? And Destiny had the brains of a human. The human girl snarled in challenge to the cheetah, purposely mocking the feline.
Destiny could sense Rune was nearby. She could hear the sand shifting beneath his feet, and she could smell his scent, warm and comforting. Her eyes narrowed. Destiny would not lose.

Rune watched in slow-motion horror as the ferocious beast's muscles tense then spring, launching the large feline towards them. He saw its sleek hide ripple as it charged the pair, crystalline eyes locking on their target with a razor-sharp precision. Claws extended, the cat's paws were a blur in the spray of sand, speeding the animal across the short stretch of beach between the two parties.
Reflexes only delayed for a split second, Rune's arm stretched out to rake the side of the feline as it streaked past. Two things hit him at that moment, however. One, that in human form, his nails were not nearly as dangerous as they would be in his canine form, and that attempting to claw the animal would be about as effective as scratching an itch on its side.
Secondly, he realized that the creature was aiming its attack at Destiny. This revelation struck him as the cat raced past him, barely offering him a second glance, and swiped at his companion's arm with its tan claws. Rune was in a state of shock after his mind had been thrown into confusion from now receiving the outcome he'd been expecting, but thankfully Destiny was not thrown off-guard. She neatly sidestepped, falling into a keen fighting stance. Rune regained his wits and shook the attack from his mind, focusing his energy on blocking the next moves of their assailant.
The male stepped up beside Destiny, feeling her radiate tense alertness beside him. He smiled. If there was one thing that hadn't changed in Destiny, it was her boldness and refusal to back down. She was a strong fighter and had a strong mind to back her up in battle. He felt confident beside her, knowing that she didn't need protection or shielding from the threat. She could do more than handle the situation.
"Why do you think it's attacking, here, in the middle of a populated city?" He asked, keeping a wary eye on the prowling feline.

Landing neatly on black padded paws, raised head and chest. Such an elegend figure, long legs able to extend with retractable claws. Spine the most flexible body part, allowing the light and almost emaciated figure to run at speeds unimaginable to meer humans. Though, that was the reason why this feline was toying with these two chunks of flesh. By her first attack, she knew that they weren't human. So how would she toy and meddle with their minds now that they've revealed that they are also shifters. Of the same blood, the same birth. Crystal ice eyes narrowing, swept her tail around and sat down.
Tail curling neatly on front paws, looked innocently at the two, as if awaiting a pat on the head. Though if one attempted this action, they would quickly loose that same hand. Ears swiveling, occasionally flicking, let out a low purr. Before opening jaw, and giving the high pitched call that a mother cheetah would to her cubs. Though if anything, it was a communication to the shifters in front of her. Would they recognize how she acted and swayed? Would they reveal their weaker forms to be chased down? Or did they prize their human pelts?
Noxx surveyed the duo once more. Of course they were loves, but the female was strong. Not a beauty, not to Noxx, but she wasn't hideous like other humans. The male was either quite devoted, or the best player she had seen. Feeling it assume that he was devoted, sheathed cream claws once more, giving another low and deep purr. What would they do? How would they react? But the male spoke, Why do you think it's attacking, here, in the middle of a populated city? Noxx swiveled her head first left, and then to the right. Not a human was in sight, though they might of run off. Non-verbally mocking the human pelted shifter.

Destiny kept her eyes on Noxx, fury boiling up inside of her at the fact that she was nothing but a thing to play with. Goshdarnit. She was a princess amongst her kind. Knowing her anger would do nothing but cloud her judgement, she tried, with much difficulty, to shove that anger down. It remained, a small pit of fire at the base of her heart. "Why do you think it's attacking, here, in the middle of a populated city?" Rune voice broke into her thoughts, causing her to realize that she wasn't paying enough attention to the feline in front, luckily she had decided to sit. Destiny's head turned towards Rune, but her eyes remained on the cat thing in front of her. "I don't even know what it is, how am I supposed to know what it's doing here?" she hissed, voice low.
Dest studied the creature, noting the long legs, supple spine, and deadly claws and teeth. The feline's attempt to look innocent failed miserably in Destiny's eyes. The creature had just tried to take her head off! It was impossible for her to appear blameless. However, to play along, Destiny also straightened causing her posture to no longer be defensive. The thing purred softly, then released a clarion sound. Stepping slightly behind Rune, Destiny took her eyes off the feline for a second. Her eyes quickly scanned the surrounding area. If she and Rune shifted, there was the possibility of them being able to reach the city - depending on how fast this cat thing could run, of course. Her eyes shifted up and down the long stretch of beach, perhaps if they held out long enough, a human would wander by and call animal control. Or if they really had to, the could try to make a swim for it. If Destiny remembered correctly she could have sworn that cats hated water. Gaze settled on Noxx again. Of course, this was some sort of super cat, like a panther. Maybe she would like the water. Destiny growled low in her throat, frustration evident. It was too hard to formulate a plan when she knew nothing of the capabilities of this particular animal.
"What should we do, Rune?"
