Home. She was finally home after a great deal of stress trying to get back to the old bar that she had since made her family's "base camp". Well, Rohjyx had made it that first, she supposed, but he wasn't really here any more and she was the one holding down the fort.
And possibly not doing the best of jobs at this point. Her injured left shoulder with the deep wound left by the bullet didn't breed freely any more, but it had stained her white fur a deep crimson in a trail down that same leg. She couldn't put any weight on that leg any more and had to feebly hobble on three, which was made more difficult by her fractured rib because that just made everything painful. By the time she had managed to get inside the building, Tabris was not her usual bubbly self any more, and she had managed a mere five steps towards the bedroom before her legs gave up on her.
She landed with a thump, wincing as she went down and feeling every joint in her body protest at such an ungraceful landing, and after the pain of the collapse had subsided, the panthress managed a very depressed sigh. She wasn't going to make it to the bedroom for a while, apparently. Her tail flicked weakly in a half irritated manner and part of Tabris wished she would just fall asleep and escape the pain - but the very same pain was what kept her awake. That, and a little voice crying out to her that managed to make her raise her head and her eyes sparkle with concern, even though she was so exhausted.
"MOMMY!"

"MOMMY!"
|
Seth was already crying, and it was for a mixture of reasons. His mother was alive and this pleased him greatly. He had just about worried Uncle Roscy's ears off with his concerned nattering and questioning whether he would ever see his mother again. The other reason was that Tabris looked like she could die any given moment. The white fur he was so used to snuggling into at night, or burying his head into when he wanted to feel safe, was not so white any more. It was dirtied and grey in most places, but more worrying still was how red parts of it were. Lots of blood, and the sight frightened him. But as his mother raised her head and stared at him with concerned, wide eyes, Seth somehow knew she wasn't that close to death yet. She was just sick, poorly. Badly hurt and needed rest. He rushed up to the giant white panther and dropped to his knees by her front, wrapping his arms around her neck and burying his face into her fur. "Mommy you're hurt!" He whimpered, sobs still shaking his body and not quite able to get over the shock of seeing Tabris in such a bad way. "You're hurt, and you're stupid because you shouldn't have got hurt, and I was so scared that I wouldn't see you again, and you're stupid because you should have gone and seen a doctor and I'm glad you're alive, mommy!"He didn't move from his position, curled up by the large white cat and face buried in her fur as he tried to calm down and stop his tears. A low rumble from the cat herself that Seth, even in his human form, knew only as a purr of comfort, helped in this endeavour, and his sobbing slowly subsided as he kept his arms around his mother's neck and continued to remind himself that she was still very much alive and had come back to him, injured or not. "... I'm so sorry, mommy... this is all my fault and you wouldn't be this way if I hadn't run off, and I'm sorry. I only wanted to find daddy and bring him back home, and bring Kaija back home, and I just didn't want you to be sad any more...."[/scrolly][/blockquote][/blockquote]

A terrified squeak escaped Sasha's lips as he crouched, huddled against the dingy side of the old bar. He didn't intend for this to happen. He had no IDEA that this would happen. The young Russian honestly had just gone into normal, safe Assassin territory for an opportunity to wander, and had instead witnessed something horrible. Through the window that he didn't dare peak into, he would be able see a once beautiful cat lying on the ground, held by a keening, terrified child. Sasha had flinched the moment he heard the boy cry out to the feline, and instinctively hid the best he could. Now, he was trapped.
What could he do? He couldn't hear much of the muffled conversation that somehow managed to leak through the musty walls, so he couldn't exactly judge what he was supposed to do. The cat was obviously a shifter -- nobody called for a wild animal like that. She was bleeding too, from the quick glimpse he had caught when he saw her lumbering into the building. Was she an assassin? Should he go get someone to help? Questions buzzed in his mind.
Well, he wasn't one to take initiative; however, this time, he didn't have much of a choice. His nicer nature won out, and it was about time he grew some sort of spine. Swallowing nervously, Sasha stood up, still hiding beyond the frame of the window. He would go in there and ask them if they needed help. Simple right? Yes. Simple. He could do this. Alright.
"No, n-no I c-c-c-an't," he mumbled to himself in fear as he went to push the door open.

If Tabris had been feeling terrible before, her son's reaction made her sick to her stomach for reasons she hardly understood. Although she would sometimes tease Seth about sensitive he could be, she hated when the boy cried or become genuinely upset, and with all the will in the world Tabris wished she could fix her son right now.
He clung to her neck with a grip tight enough that it was like he was trying to cling to her very life, and Tabris was only thankful that his arms were more around the base of her neck rather than around her throat, as otherwise he might have choked her. He spoke to her, in the language of humans she could now all too easily understand, and the sadness in his voice pulled at all her heart strings. Cats can't cry, but if they could, Tabris probably would have done.
She did little else aside from lie there and mumble words of comfort that came out as a purr, too weak to shift and tell him she'd be fine but not willing to just go to sleep without trying to comfort him in some way. Seth only ever did anything with good intentions at heart, and she sometimes wondered if he was even related to Rohjyx at all. Either way, as his sobbing subsided and he regained control of himself, Tabris wondered whether she should be angry with him when she felt better. Largely, she realised already she wouldn't be able to be angry with him at all.
A scent met her nose then, and it wasn't a familiar one. Her ears pricked, and there was a sudden urge to try and stand and be ready for whoever this imposter was. Yet, she didn't even have the energy to try and get to her feet. Instead the white panthress turned her head to stare in the direction the scent wafted from, tried eyes narrowed slightly as she waited for the whatever it was to either come out and show themselves or for them to leave.

He had fallen silent after his pitiful explanation about why he had left at all, and Seth continued to wallow in his guilt as he tried hard not to start crying all over again. His mother didn't seem angry with him and she seemed like she would, eventually, be okay, and this had settled a large part of his worry. Every time he inhaled deeply, he felt a little calmer, the smell of blood not as strong to his human nose as it would have been to his feline one.
The cat moved her head and Seth loosened his grip as she did so, raising his head and glancing down at his mother briefly before following her gaze. Was somebody there? His mother continued to stare at the spot intently, and Seth found herself clutching at her fur a little tighter as he cleared his throat and tried his best to look tough. The door moved, as if somebody were behind it, and Seth tensed. "I... um... I know you're there." He called out after a moment, not sounding very brave at all and idly half-stroking his mother's neck with one hand, more so to comfort himself.
"Y-you can come out now and s-stop snooping around. It wasn't you who hurt my mommy, was it?" He then added, voice going from timid to angry as the thought suddenly passed through his head this could have been the person who injured Tabris.

The door opened fully, allowing the pair inside to see Sasha fully. He currently wore a frightened, almost meek expression, mostly induced from the child's sharp tone. The kid couldn't have been more than an elementary schooler's age; however, the anger in his voice was real, and very nearly intimidating. If Sasha was a different man, he would laugh at himself for being so afraid -- instead, he met the boy's gaze.
"N-n-no, I d-didn't h-hurt your m-m-m-mother," he managed to stutter out, his thin Russian accent distorting the words further. His shoulders hunched forward as he shut the door behind him, as though he were attempting to shrink his already thin form. It was ineffective at best. "I-I'm a-- I'm a-a-an assassin. N-n-not a literal o-one! I m-m-mean I'm i-in-- I-I mean--" Suddenly, he cut off his own stammering with a sharp sigh. This was getting nowhere fast, and the cat needed help.
He swallowed again, rubbing his own arm nervously. "I-I'm in th-th-the Assassins g-group. D-d-do you need a-any h-help?" The Russian's soft blue eyes turned to look at the crumpled figure of the feline-- except she was looking straight at him. Sasha fought the desperate urge to flinch, and instead rubbed his arm again. This was a terrible idea.

(OoC:: | Cutting out Tab's table at this point, it's little more than a space waster. She won't be doing much. XD )
His mother's ears folded back as the thin, lanky sort of figure walked through the door properly, and Seth glanced down at her briefly. She was glaring weakly, and he had a feeling she might have growled if she had the energy to. As it was, Tabris did little more than stare, and Seth found that it would be his job to deal with this situation. Something which unnerved him to a large degree, but the fact his mother couldn't do it for herself where so normally she'd have done it for them both gave him the strength to turn around and watch the teen.
When he spoke, he spoke with an accent Seth did not recognise. It made him a little hard to understand at first and Seth had to reply what had been said in his head a couple of times before he fully understood it. The fact that this person hadn't hurt his mother, however, made the boy relax and let out a sigh of relief. The anger was gone from his expression and gaze. The stranger went on, explaining how he was in Daddy's group of friends and hen asking if Seth needed any help.
He glanced down at his mother, still idly stroking her neck, and wasn't sure what exactly she needed. Tabris had closed her eyes, probably when she realised this person was no threat, and her head was resting on his legs at this point. Now and then, her right eye would open briefly to keep an eye on the teenager, but she seemed tired. "Um... I don't really think we need very much right now, but mommy could do with some water..." He mumbled, still staring guiltily at the white cat on the floor before he looked back over at the stranger. "I'm Seth by the way. My daddy is one of your friends, I think. You know Rohjyx, right?" He then added, introducing himself as was only polite and making sure that this person really was one of his father's friends. Seth still did not quite understand the dynamics of the group his father lead and as such, his mother had not been too keen to tell him or Kaija about the Assassins as a gang while they were still so young.

Rohjyx let a short breath of relief slip past his lips when he made it into Assassin territory after being gone for five months, Kaija sleeping peacefully in the passenger seat next to him. Their adventure - really, it was more of a training trip for Kaija - had taken them all over the country for the past five months, keeping them busy and away from home. Now they were done and returning to their home. Reaching out to his daughter, Rohjyx gently shook her and called her name. "Kaija, time to wake up. We're just about home." He said, the light-haired girl cracking one eye to stare at him before opening the other and blinking. "Wait. We're home?" She asked, uncomprehending. Rohjyx chuckled, nodding. "Yes. We're home. We'll be seeing Mommy and Seth in just a few minutes." Grinned the man, pulling up to his old bar and parking.
Quickly, he got out of his car and walked around to the other side, opening Kaija's door and taking her hand to help her out of the truck. She hopped out, bouncing on the balls of her feet before settling down beside her dad. "Can we go inside now Daddy? I want to see Mommy and Seth!" She asked, looking up at him with wide blue eyes. Rohjyx nodded, smiling at her for a moment, before walking around the back of the bar and pushing the old door open.
The sight that greeted him was far from what he wanted to see and as the scene became clear to him he made a sharp hissing sound. "Tabris! What the fuck happened to you?!" Quickly, not noticing the trembling figure that was staring at Tabris and Seth fearfully, Rohjyx strode up to his mate and dropped to a knee, icy eyes taking in her wounds. Kaija let out a wail, crying for her Mommy, and ran up to her, tears in her eyes. "Mommy!"
Seth, the poor thing, looked lost and confused as to what to do. Knowing the young boy had no training in first aid, Rohjyx turned to his daughter and briskly growled, "Kaija! Go get some rags, warm water, and the first aid kit. Go! Now!" Kaija stared at him for a moment, not understanding, but then blinking sharply and hopping to her feet. She quickly disappeared from sight, running to fetch what was needed.
Taking off his shirt, Rohjyx used it to clean up some of the blood off of Tabris' shoulder before pressing it to the wound firmly. "Seth, come here and hold this. I need to talk to your mother and I'm pretty sure she's too tired to Shift right now." Releasing the cloth, Rohjyx Shifted and instantly butted Tabris' head softly, purring loudly at her. "What the hell happened to you, Tabby? Who did this? Because they are at the very top of my shit list and I'll be damned if I let them get away with hurting my Tabby." He said, growling the last bit out possessively.
At that moment, Kaija reappeared, all of the requested items in her arms. She set everything down beside Seth with an almost military air and looked at her dad, asking if she should just go ahead and start treating her mom. Rohjyx nodded to her minutely, turning his attention back to his girlfriend.
Picking up a rag, she dunked it in the warm water before ringing it out and using it to begin cleaning up all the wounds should could see. It took a few long minutes and Kaija getting up to make sure she wasn't missing anything but when she was sure she had gotten everything she sat back down and looked at her dad. She wasn't sure about the bullet wound on Mommy's shoulder and she didn't want to hurt Mommy any more than she already was. "Daddy, should I stitch Mommy up or check if the bullet is still in her arm?"

Silence. It was almost ear-splitting despite the fact it was silence, and Tabris flicked one ear idly as Seth continued to sit there and pet her. The stranger wasn't doing much of anything, the useless git he had proven to be, and so it was that mother and son did very little aside from wait it out. Part of Tabris that could still manage humour jokingly wondered if she was going to be waiting for the next several days until Rohjyx came home, at which point she'd probably be better anyway. Well, somewhat. Little did the white panther know she would be waiting until her mate got home, but it wouldn't be a several day long wait.
Her eyes had been closed and her breathing had relaxed, exhaustion catching up with her and the beginnings of sleep starting to cloud over her mind, when the door to the bar opened again. Instinctively, more for Seth's safety than her own, her blue eyes snapped right open and she frantically processed who it was and whether they were a threat. Or she tried to, because when a very familiar and very missed voice reached her ears, she just about stopped thinking altogether. He was either home early, or her mind was a little late, but either way, Rohjyx was there in the doorway and was finally back home. She should have been more excited about the whole ordeal, but the remaining pain and the utter tiredness kept her from doing much. A flick of her tail and a weak little growl of tired delight would have to suffice because most other things were out the question.
She glanced at Kaija, feeling even worse than she had done earlier because now she'd made both her children cry and that just wasn't acceptable, and feebly tried to sit herself up. Needless to say her attempt was pathetically laughable and between the manhandling - it was manhandling in her mind at any rate - of her daughter and her partner, Tabris looked rather like some dying fish out of water as she flopped back onto her side and let out a small huff of indignation. Keeping her eyes averted from Seth and Kaija, and wanting to point out the bullet wound on her shoulder really didn't need the shirt's help because it wasn't bleeding much any more, the panthress flicked her tail again and instead focused on Rohjyx.
"Hi Kitty..." Was her only initial, sleepy response, although the delight in the tone was unmistakable despite how tired Tabris sounded. She didn't even look like she'd comprehended Rohjyx's question at first, trying to reach out with a paw to place it on Rohjyx's muzzle and failing miserably as the bullet wound in her shoulder painfully reminded her of it's existence. Another, somewhat heavier sigh passed her lips, and she frowned somewhat as she overheard Kaija mention stitches or further fiddling with her wounds. As much as she appreciated the help, she was honestly tired, and thus, a grumpy mom. "Please tell your daughter I'm going to eat her if she do-doesn't..." A yawn interrupted her sentence before she could finish, "doesn't try and relax a little."
Tabris paused again, looking up at Rohjyx and flicking her tail a few times as she tried to recall how exactly she had wound up in such a state. Oh yes! "It was some guy... from the new human gang. There's some new bunch of hardened criminals in Shelpey and you could say I had an unfortunate run in with some. Tenma too, actually. Roscoe is probably still dealing with it..." Another yawn, and the fact she had been getting increasingly quieter throughout her little speech probably further indicated the growing inability to stay awake. "Say, Kitty, I'm glad you're home..."

"Hi Kitty," Rohjyx purred loudly in response to his girlfriends' tired murmur. He nuzzled her cheek affectionately, one ear flicking to Kaija to listen as she moved around her mother. "Hi Tabby," he replied, waiting on her to answer his previous questions. She laid there for a moment, obviously exhausted, before seemingly coming to again. "Please tell your daughter I'm going to eat her if she do-doesn't..." Her statement was cut off by a massive yawn, then she started speaking again. "doesn't try and relax a little." Kaija looked at her father curiously as he snorted in amusement, licking Tabris' head. "I'll tell her." He said, flicking Kaija with his tail to get her attention. She looked at him, eyes wondering, and waited while he Shifted quickly. "Your mother said that if you don't try and relax a little, she's going to eat you. And just clean the wound for now. I'll look at it in a minute." Kaija gave a ready, "Roger!" while Rohjyx Shifted back into his other form and nuzzled back up to his girlfriend.
She had dozed a little while he spoke to Kaija, it seemed, but as he pressed up against her she spoke again, this time finally answering his questions. "It was some guy... from the new human gang. There's some new bunch of hardened criminals in Shelpey and you could say I had an unfortunate run in with some. Tenma too, actually. Roscoe is probably still dealing with it..." The longer she talked, the quieter she got and by the time she was done she released another large yawn. Rohjyx rubbed his cheek against her neck, purring low in his throat. That human gang, damn them, would pay. If they thought they could get away with attacking his Guild, his SiC and dog, his girlfriend while he was away, they had another thing coming. Oh, boy, did they have another thing coming. If he had his way, and he would, dammit, they would all pay. Dearly.
Knowing that his justified rage was not helping matters at the moment, Rohjyx shoved it aside and returned his attention to Tabris just in time to hear her whisper, "Say, Kitty, I'm glad you're home..." Rohjyx closed his eyes, breathing in Tabris scent deeply, before cracking them open again and nuzzling his mate softly. "I'm glad to be home, Tabby. I'm glad to be home." He whispered. Then, feeling drained just by looking at Tabris, he said, "Go to sleep. You're safe. Kaija and Seth are safe. I'll keep watch." He looked over to Kaija, the girl beginning to look a little sleepy-eyed, and meowed, nodding to Seth and the hall that led to their bedrooms. Go to bed, was the message. Kaija nodded and sleepily gave both her mother and father hugs and kisses before poking Seth and motioning for him to follow her to their room.
