The S(hifter) Factor
Setting: On the beach, of course! Where else to hold a festival and talent show? The sun is shining on this very glorious day, the beach has been cleaned in preparation for the day and all the potential visitors, and there are several small game stalls across the beach for people to enjoy themselves. There's a ferris wheel that's been recently set up on the concrete by the beach, and a large stage has been put up on the beach itself where entertainment will be for the day, including the talent show!
Time: Mid-morning, as this is when the festival has opened it's gates to everybody. All stalls, from food to drinks to fun games, are open, the ferris wheel is turning and the staff are gathering up people interested in taking part in the talent show. The festival will continue on well into the night.
NPCs: Given the lack of human characters played by actual members, assume every member of this gang is an NPC. You may 'take control' of them at any time and for any purpose, but there are specific rules about this:
1) One NPC can't be in two places at once. Use our Plotting Page to discuss between one another what NPC is going to be where if you decide you're going to use one, please.
2) All NPCs here will be human. No random-ass shifting in the middle of a crowd. Similarly, several NPCs here are members of the staff team working to keep the festival itself running. These are busy people, so won't be randomly chatting to strangers and relaxing. Remember to keep in mind the NPCs job if you use them.
List of Specific NPCs:
Sarah Pigdin: The manager of the talent show, and a very busy lady. Whether it's making sure people are being served drinks or keeping track of all her employers, this woman isn't getting a break. She's a kind-hearted lady but is really feeling the pressure of her job, and it can make her more snappish than she would like.
Mr. Mime: The only mime at the festival, dressed in your typical mime outfit. Ironically enough, this man is actually a mute and cannot talk at all, but that makes him perfect for his job anyway. Very gentle and kind, with a soft spot for kids and cats. He speaks through sign-language or simply through writing down on paper.
Billy Bob: The owner of the hot dog stand that's never too far away from this travelling festival. A bit of a chubby guy who doesn't tolerate fools gladly and certainly won't tolerate people causing trouble near his stall. A bit rough around the edges, one might say, and a rather intimidating sort of bloke. Rarely smiles and doesn't seem to enjoy his job.
Officer Douglas: Officer Maves's partner on the police force. Pretty laid-back guy. Slightly overweight with a bald head, in his mid-forties. He suspects that the gangs aren't all that normal, but doesn't know anything beyond that. He and his partner generally patrol around the Downtown District. At the festival to make sure there are no troublemakers.
Officer Maves: Officer Douglas's partner on the police force. A much more stern and serious man in his mid-fifties, with a thin, drawn face and brown moustache to match his short-cut brown hair. He doesn't take any fooling around. He and his partner generally patrol around the Downtown District. At the festival to make sure there are no troublemakers.
Chicken Dinner: Real name and age unknown. A short man in his mid forties who brings his dinner (fried chicken) on a daily basis to eat in one of the public restroom stalls. Never speaks to anyone. Currently taking up residence in one of the many stalls at the festival, and no doubt will be causing some hassle for those needing to pee.
Quentin Sheely: Extremely tall and lanky, with unkempt brown hair. The main problem behind the shifters. He has brought shifters to the attention of the police and science community. Most think he's mad, and albeit he is, and lonely, though married. He takes his time wandering around Shelpey Alley. Watch out though, he is not a person you would like to talk to. Currently stalking the festival to look for any signs of the Shifters, and more than ready to yell for the police if he sees one.
General Plot Direction: This is a more relaxed plot thread, designed to allow characters to get to know each other, get to know NPCs, perhaps be recruited or perhaps unearth information they didn't know of before. The plot here has no real direction aside from the talent show; the talent show will be a big event and it's likely that several shifters will be asked to take part if they have any talents. A good chance for some passive-aggressive competition between the gangs, among other things.
Also doubles up as a party thread. Just fun and games here, folks, let your characters have a blast.
Participating Characters:
Matt (played by: Alex)
Kitten (played by: Aria)
Airyll (played by: Lore)
If your character is participating in this thread, please PM myself or any other staff member before posting, so we can put your name (and character names!) up on here.
Also remember to READ THIS THREAD before you ask to join. We recommend you all wait until at least four different people are participating, just in case you decide you also want to further a mini-plot of your own within the same thread.
We hope you all enjoy the up and coming plot, guys! If you have any questions, PM me, and I'll be happy to answer them. <3 Enjoy. =) ~ Lore
