"So, I had this idea two nights ago and it hasn't left me alone since. It's a roleplay that combines certain aspects of The World Ends With You (the concept behind Pins giving you abilities, and random attacks from Noise, aka random wild beasts), Team Fortress 2 (the battle-concept, where each class has advantages and disadvantages, but mostly the TEAMWORK aspect that the game relies on,) and the general idea behind Original Character Tournaments (in the sense that you have to 'defeat' your opponent(s) in the more creative, unique way, and if you lose, you're out of the tournament.)
The roleplay would be a forum, play-by-post, more than likely hosted on proboards (Proboards <3) with an IRC chatroom (which would NOT take the place of a cbox: there would still be a cbox as well, but the chatroom would be just one more platform for the fight rounds.) ROUNDS. Right. Well, first, let me try and explain what I had in mind. IN A NUTSHELL, your character ends up in this tournament fighting thingy and wants to survive, because this is NOT A SAFE PLACE. IE, things will try and eat you if you're on your own. So for your own safety you join up with one of the four TEAMS. Teams have team leaders and any number of members (hopefully a relatively equal amount.) This team is like your family. Team leaders are in charge of keeping things peaceful amongst members, giving updates, and doing things to rally team spirit. Okay, what's the point of these teams, then? WELL, ROUNDS. Back to the Rounds I mentioned.
The admin of the site acts as the TWEWY Composer would: they set up the different rounds and the goals and objectives of each team. Here's where the OCT aspect comes into play: the goals of each round can vary from "Win against your opponent in a game of chess" to "Beat your opponent in a car race" to "write your own depiction of how you win this round" to "KILL THEM." Each team is given a few rounds that they're going to have to participate in against other teams. The teams have their assignments and the team leaders hold a sort of "okay, who wants to do this one? What about THIS one?" deal where members can volunteer to battle in the different rounds. The battles then take place, blah blah blah depending on what kind of round it is ... AND THERE WE'RE DONE now there's a winner. The round is judged by fight judges (usually the nonparticipating Team leaders and the admin) for any powerplay, etc., and for creativity. It's possible that the person who WON in character actually ends up LOSING because they didn't roleplay as well as their opponent did. Anyway, so winners and losers are announced. Individual winners get points for being involved and winning, and their teams in turn get Win Points. Losers lose points and their teams get tally marks for losses.
These Rounds last, say, two months in real time, so that roleplaying is fast-paced but you still have time to be involved. The last week of the two-month period is called Endweek, and is when the site has a sort of free-for-all roleplay. No rounds, you can do whatever you want. Also during this time, Team leaders can buy Achievements for their team using their accumulated Win Points. These things range from re-rolling undesirable Random Chance events, to free Forfeits (neither losing nor winning a round, they just get to pass), to being able to avoid one death, to reviving killed characters.
Wait, what, death?
Yeah, death. This is a SURVIVAL roleplay. Teamwork=better survival. Wins means nobody dies. Losses, on the other hand. The overall losing team of a particular set of rounds has to face consequences. A certain number of losses means they have to lose a member. Generally it'll be a character that hasn't done anything to help the team. So you'd better do your damned best, if you don't want to get voted off the island. (Lol, just kidding. But seriously, if you're not helping, your teammates will want you gone.) And then of course you can be revived. If they want you back, that is.
So that's the overarching plot deal. Rounds are different each time and keep teams and members on their feet. The forum itself is CHARACTER-PER-ACCOUNT, to help keep things straight. (There WILL be a quick-switch post as alias, though, so logging in and out won't be a huge problem for members.) Overall, this site would really involve members, not just their characters, because of the team work part. And yes, you can have characters on different teams. And no, they won't be chosen to fight each other. Because that would be silly.
SO. If you've managed to read all that and think it sounds kinda interesting, leave a comment! I'd like to hear some feedback and suggestions/comments/critiques/concerns/etc."
Since this is Shelpey, I'm betting that I can get better feedback here. Also, just keep in mind that team leaders are also staff members that would help run the site, if anyone wants to be ambitious.
