Shapeshift Form: Coyote
Appearance:
HUMAN: With a lanky build and a height of 6'3", Scruffy doesn't look very impressive. His lower jaw is covered in something affectionately called "scruff"; sparse whiskers that are longer and far less dense than actual stubble. His hair is auburn, and is usually tied in a loose ponytail that rests on his shoulder. He has small, faint lines - he prefers not to call them wrinkles just yet - under his brown eyes, despite his best efforts to hide his age. On average, Scruffy will wear dark button-downs with short sleeves, and either blue jeans or black pants. A lazy smile is usually found on his face, though he's prone to mood swings. His shifter tattoo, amber in color, is located at the very base of his collarbone, right about the top of the sternum.Personality:
SHIFTED: In animal form, Scruffy looks like an average coyote. His pelt is grayish-brown, with splashes of copper and tan on his legs. Like his human form, he's long and thin, though his thick coat helps add some width. His eyes are a normal dirty gold color. Even as a coyote, it looks like he's smiling playfully.
Scruffy likes to believe that he's an easy going, laid back guy, but this is sadly not the case. While he will let things just go with the flow, he's much to irritable and passionate to be considered mellow. He tends to have very extreme reactions, though they're usually of the negative sort. (For example, he'll get extraordinarily peeved when stupid people are involved, but he won't get overly happy or excited.) A bright spot in his personality is that he has amazing self confidence, and can be very outgoing and friendly as a result.History:
Surprisingly, Scruffy is actually a very good listener. If you ever needed someone to talk to, he'll patiently hear you out, and then offer his best advice. (It might not be terrific, but at least he made an effort, right?) He cares quite deeply for his friends, and will even help out random strangers that come to him. When the situation calls for it, he can take on an almost brotherly quality.
Whenever he's not irritated or helping someone calm down, he's a pretty fun guy to be around. He can carry on a pretty witty conversation and is skilled in the art of sarcasm, but be warned; he likes to make really, REALLY bad jokes. He's also a self-proclaimed "ladies' man," and can be quite the charmer. (Shelpey Alley is something a romantic hell for him, as most of his female customers are underage. He may be a flirt, but he's not a creep.)
Scruffy's past really wasn't anything special. His parents were still young when they had him, straight out of high school and still in their late teens. Despite this, they lived happily in a decent apartment, near the inner workings of a nondescript city. He went to public school, made friends, and generally did well. He never had any siblings, so he acted as a surrogate older brother for other children in his apartment complex.Sample:
At the age of fifteen, his shifter abilities appeared. The first change scared him deeply, and for the next few years, he tried to ignore his ability. After confessing to one of his 'adopted' younger siblings, however, he learned to actually appreciate his coyote form. After that incident, his sibling would incessantly refer to him as "Scruffy." (Later in life, he decided to grow the actual scruff, so people would stop being so confused.)
For a few years, Scruffy worked as a bartender in the city before deciding to move somewhere with trees. He moved to Shelpey and, upon seeing that the only bars were in the seedier parts of town, took up a job at the cafe.
(I think I've role played enough to show that I'm competent. XD)Other:
Scruffy honestly believes that his shifting ability is completely unique to him. He has no idea what Shelpey is really like...
He has some wicked drink mixing skills, due to his career as a bartender.
His best friend in the world is Matt, even though they've only known each other for a year or two.
