"Hm? Oh, yea, I'm fine," She raised her eyebrows, trying her best to look as if she didn't understand. She was aware of the lady and her dog approaching, yet she ignored it and her face was now properly held. It wasn't like she was afraid of the dog, it was just a plain a dog. The dog had simply dug up some unwanted memories.
Lynn regained a handle on herself. "Why would I be afraid of a dog?" She looked Danny in the eye, her previous friendlyness becoming dim. Her face was emotionless, with an undertone of anger. It's only a normal dog, it isn't him. She reassured herself. With a sigh that ended in a slight chuckle, Lynn tried to place her friendly smile again. She liked Danny, she wanted to be his friend, and she disliked herself for becoming defensive. "I'm afraid of plenty of things, but one of them is not an old lady's dog." She watched the creature, it had almost found it's way to them. Her anxiety had evaporated, and she had gathered her wits.

Danny suddenly noticed a slight but serious change in Lynn. Her expression was no longer friendly; it was neutral, but it seemed threatening. "I'm not sure why you'd be afraid of a dog," Danny said, "it's just your reaction seemed to indicate you were." He then considered his options; if she got angry, he could either calm her down or just walk away. And kill her later. Or just skip the killing part. Whatever he felt like later on.
Luckily, he didn't need to continue that train of thought. He watched as Lynn's smile returned, not quite as friendly but close enough. His smile remained constantly pleasant. "Well good. An old lady's dog is hardly something to be afraid of...unless, of course, it's a guard dog." he joked. He took a look at the approaching animal. "I'm pretty sure it's not."

Her smile faded once again, and her vision zoned as she watched nothing in particular over Danny’s shoulder. With one hand she rubbed her face over her eyes, trying to clear her thoughts. An edge of annoyance prodded her as Danny joked, she didn’t feel like messing around anymore. Her body turned towards the continuation of the sidewalk, but her eyes still remained on Danny. “I’m going to keep on my way. You can come if you want.” She had no idea where she would end up, but she left it open to him if he wanted to come.
Breathing deep, she tilted her head to face her route before moving her feet. “Not that I have any clue about where I’m going.” She breathed a laugh, not turning to see if Danny followed.

Danny's smile suddenly turned into a somewhat annoyed smirk; it seemed Lynn didn't feel so playful anymore. Why so serious, my friend? he thought sarcastically, somewhat annoyed at the fact she couldn't take a simple joke. You should lighten up.
Forcing a cheery grin, Danny started to follow Lynn as she began to walk away. “Not that I have any clue about where I’m going.” Well, that was certainly reassuring. If she didn't know where she was going, how would she get back to where she was? Danny almost laughed at the thought. That sounded like some kind of riddle...I wonder what the answer would be...?
THUNK!
Danny suddenly felt a sharp in his face as he stumbled back. What the heck was that?! Looking up, he saw...a tree? During his reverie, he had strayed from the path and walked right into it.

Lynn could hear Danny trailing behind her. So he doesn’t intend to leave me alone. Sighing, she continued, loosening her pace somewhat. If he was going to follow her anyways, she might as well be comfortable; after all, what was the point of rushing when you had no plans for where you were going? Maybe I’m being kind of harsh to him. Lynn frowned again, her forehead wrinkling.
As she opened her mouth to apologize for her brisk behaviour, a large thunk sounded behind her. Quickly turning to see what had happened, Lynn burst out laughing. Danny had walked right into a tree. This guy must be blind! She was now holding her side from laughing too hard, she tried to stop long enough to speak. “Well I did say that you didn’t have to follow me.” Her voice came out as a bit of a squeal, her laugh then continued to roar.
Slowly, as her laughter drifted away, Lynn asked Danny calmly, “Are you alright? That was quite a knock.” Her good spirit had returned reluctantly.

As Lynn burst into laughter, a good-natured smile made its way to Danny's face. Why should he be angry that she was laughing? It would have been funny if he saw it happen to someone else. Besides, at least she's happy now. It's no fun being around someone all somber and serious.
When she finished, Danny flashed her a grin. "I'm fine. It sounded a lot worse than it really was." He looked up at the tree with warm brown eyes, thankful that the leaves shielded his gaze from the sun. Turning his sights back to Lynn, he grinned again. "Shall we be on our way?" he said pleasantly. "I promise to try not to run into any trees this time." He did a cross motion over his heart, clearly joking. Let's hope we end up somewhere interesting.

“Maybe it will be my turn to run into the tree next time.” Lynn chuckled, waiting for Danny before she continued walking. She looked at Danny, seeing if she could catch the beginning of a lump on his forehead. Damn, too early to tell. Lynn cracked another laugh, picturing Danny with a large goose egg between his eyes.
“You can lead the way if you want. You’re familiar with this area better, right?” Lynn suggested, assuming that Danny had lived here long enough to know his way around. She couldn’t say as much for herself, she had just moved here. Lynn tried to picture where Danny would take them if he showed the way. To be honest, she couldn’t picture the kind of place where Danny would hang around in the first place.

Danny gave Lynn a confused smile as she just started laughing again. What's so funny, I wonder? he mused. Dwelling on that train of thought for a few moments, Danny just shrugged it off. No use in asking, since it doesn't really matter all that much. And curiousity killed the cat, you know. The teen stifled the urge to laugh as he thought of his friend Amber.
Danny nodded in response to Lynn's question. "I know this place top to bottom," he said with a knowing smile. If only she knew how literal that was.
...I wonder if she knows about Shifters. He cast a quick glance to his companion. How do I find out, I wonder...?

Lynn walked next to Danny; her stance was casual as she watched the passing scenery. “So where are we right now, the top or the bottom?” She stretched her shoulders loosely, embarrassed from her own meek attempt at a joke.
The trees cast unusual shadows around them, stretching in odd directions. The sun was still fairly high in the sky, still shining brightly. “So, where to then?” Lynn grinned widely. I wonder where he’ll take us. “Where do you normally go to cause trouble?” She joked. She wasn’t the type to go about, stirring up unneeded trouble.

"Technically, we're at the top," Danny said matter-of-factly. His smile was rather somber. "We're walking up a hill." He then shot Lynn a joking grin. He couldn't let her think he was being serious, could he? That would take the fun out of everything!
“Where do you normally go to cause trouble?” Danny smiled even more at the question. He could tell she was joking, but still, it was funny. He even laughed a little. "Trouble? If you want trouble, you should head to the-" He suddenly stopped talking. Whoops. Wouldn't want to steer the new girl into REAL danger.
