Tameri walked a few paces, all the while being aware of the cat's presence. Was it following her? Tameri's eyebrows raised in apparent shock. It was a pretty nice cat. Tameri had decided she liked how it was so...talkative. Again, however, Amber's mews went unheeded. She turned and continued walking, fighting the urge to pick up the cat once more and just take it home with her. That was some little girl's cat. Tameri smiled to herself. Well, it could be anyone's cat but it was easier to leave the thing alone knowing that some poor kid was missing it.
And yet, the cat continued to follow. Tameri had always herd stories about dogs following their owners to school and stuff, but this was kind of crazy. Again, she heard Amber's call and turned around. "Sorry! I can't do anything now. You're on your own." Tameri frowned and picked up her pace, hoping the cat would get bored and stop following her. It was a pretty smart cat, and the petite girl couldn't help but think it was trying to tell her something.
If Tameri had given it more thought she might have figured that the cat was a shapeshifter. She was unaccustomed to the idea though, having only begun shifting two years ago. She had never been around shifters since then, the exception being her sisters. She had be unknowingly drawn to Shelpey Alley, and once Tameri figured out why, everything, her life, the universie, it would've all made sense. But alas, Tameri remained ignorant of all the secrets Shelpey Alley harbored. For all she knew, she was the only shapeshifter here! That would mean Amber was the first one she's ever met since moving to this place.

"Sorry! I can't do anything now. You're on your own." Amber twitched her whiskers at the girl sped up, she didn't know she was that annoying... there were so many things wrong about this statement. As much as Amber hated to admit it, this girl probably could have taken her to a humane society, better than an animal shelter. She nearly shuddered at the thought, but Amber kept her pace and followed the girl.
Hmm... she glanced around, still cautious of her steps. No one was around, and it was still morning. The feline had a thought to shift, but what if someone was looking through a window. Amber's sharp gaze locked onto each window and door and car, making sure no one was looking. The coast was clear. Amber turned her head up to the girl, eyes narrowed against the sun. She figured she'd go blind soon, oh well. She'd deal with that when the time came. The girl was looking ahead, but she was obviously aware about the cat following her as her posture was a little stiff, but not much. She was just a cat after all.
Everything seemed ready, no one was looking, but could Amber do it? Ever since she joined the Thieves she began shifting in front of other... shifters, but never before then. She was still slightly uncomfortable with the thought. What are you afraid of stupid cat? She's a shifter too, she just said it! Amber frowned, as much as a feline anatomy would let her. As she said before, just do it now and worry about it later. Well she never really said it, but it was implied! Amber almost gagged, great now she wast talking to herself in her mind. Blake would never let me live this down.
Amber dipped her head in acceptance, well here it goes. Maybe she'd just play it off! Yeah. Amber inwardly willed her body to change, quickly complying she found herself as a human in no time. She found herself wearing a casual look, khaki shorts and a plain sky blue T-shirt. At least it isn't weird... Casual. Good. Amber nodded to herself before looking up at the girl. Amber aimed to lightly poke her in the shoulder to get her attention. Would she guess Amber was a shifter too? Or would she wonder where the cat went? She could play it off...? "... hi! Where ya' going?" She inquired in an innocent voice, of course a teenager's voice isn't always so innocent... heh.
((Blake is her younger brother, mentioned in the history of her character bio. Amber's shifted so many freaking times I'm too freaking lazy to freaking write out her freaking shifting.))

Tameri wasn't paying attention to the cat. In fact, she was concentrating all her efforts on just walking away. It was probably no surprise that Tameri didn't even sense or hear the shift occur behind her. It was only when Amber spoke, did she whirl around and stare, completely taken off guard. The girl before her looked young, not young like a child but young as though she was still in high school. Much to her surprise, the cat was gone. There was no one around before! For a brief moment, a frenzied look crept into her deep, murky green eyes. Where'd the cat go? Where'd the girl come from? "Um... Yeah, Tameri would say something totally incoherent right now.
Almost as soon as it had come, the spell that clouded Tameri's mind vanished. An enlightened look now seeped its way into her features and Tameri connected the dots. "OH! Her eyebrows raised mechanically and she looked at the girl curiously. "You too!" Tameri whispered but there was no need for it. No one was around to hear. A look of surprised confusion contorted Tameri's unique features. This had proved to be an eventful day indeed.
Now, Tameri stood before the fourteen-year-old girl. She noted her black hair and seemingly kind features. Well good thing this girl seemed friendly enough. Tameri had a lot of questions to ask and Amber seemed practiced enough to be able to answer them. But would she want to? Tameri put aside these trivial thoughts and stuck out her hand a little too eagerly. "Hi. I'm Tameri." She said with a tone of finality. Her voice was youthful and calm. "And...I'm not going anywhere in particular." She smiled. This was all very interesting. "Can I know your name? Don't freak out or anything I'm not a creeper. I haven't met another shifter outside of my family." Tameri realized that it was not the wisest thing to do, speak aloud about their abilities. She bit her lip apologetically, and glanced to her side before looking back at Amber.

"Um..." Amber's lips twitched, so she really didn't know did she? Well, not everyone was so bright. But she kept up her appearance, Amber titled her own head and encouraged her, "Hm?" She wondered what she was thinking at the moment. Was she finally seeing the point? Or was she thinking about where the cat disappeared to? Maybe she was wondering what Amber was doing, or where she came from.
Her eyes suddenly sparkled and her eyebrows raised in shock, "OH!" Yes, she finally got it. "You too!" The girl looked at Amber in a new light, she even whispered. No on was around, she didn't think it really mattered at the moment. Amber shrugged and rolled her eyes in mock annoyance, "Umm.. yeah." The girl smiled and stuck out her hand to which Amber happily shook firmly, "Hi. I'm Tameri." Amber nodded, Tameri. It was a nice name with a nice ring and it fit.
She finally got to what Amber was waiting for, at least part of it, "And... I'm not going anywhere in particular." Amber's mouth popped open, oh. She soon closed it though, as to not be rude. So... she wasn't going anywhere. Amber could have followed her then... oh well. She brushed off the thought, at least they could have a conversation as the walked... or something. Not that the two were moving now, but... eh, she'll figure it out when the time came.
"Can I know your name? Don't freak out or anything I'm not a creeper. I haven't met another shifter outside of my family." Suddenly she bit her lip and glanced to her side. Amber rolled her eyes when she wasn't looking, but she gave a friendly smile. "I'm Amber. And I don't believe one would freak out if someone asked their name. At least I think..." She trailed off, finger tapping her chin. Only a weird person would think that... she shrugged.
"And if you don't mind me asking, you really haven't met another shifter outside of your family? How long have you lived in Shelpey Alley?" Amber knew it might be a tad rude, but it was a real question! There were so many shifters in Shelpey Alley... nearly all of Amber's friends were shifters, even a tiny select few at her school. Amber had been born and raised in Shelpey Alley which was crawling with shifters, but she didn't know how many other shifters were outside of the city. It made her rethink, how many shape shifters are there really in the world?

Tameri just smiled. Amber seemed impatient with her. Tameri couldn't blame her though. It was like she lived under a rock or something! Tameri began to wonder now, just as Amber had. Instead of how many shape shifters there were in the world, however, Tameri wondered just how many of them had come to live here. A new kind of excitement pulsed through Tameri's veins. Amber's shifting was monumental. Tameri could find people like her! She could find a place to belong and maybe one day have the same same easy confidence that Amber seemed to exude.
Tameri noted Amber's apparent annoyance. Heh, teenagers. She smiled as Amber spoke and took assurance in the girl's nonchalance. Things couldn't have worked out better, actually. Tameri was glad that this was the way she was introduced into the "Shifting World," whatever that was. Maybe Amber could tell her more about shifting? Maybe Amber knew other shifters! Tameri beamed. "Yeah. I haven't met anyone else except for you. I've only been living here for a few weeks." The young woman thought to herself for a moment, before continuing. "But I never went out much to notice anything...worth noticing." She'd phrased that strangely, but she hoped that Amber got the gist of what she was trying to say.
Tameri thought of Amber's animal form. That made sense. In a way, this girl seemed catlike. Was it her apparent independence or matter-of-fact attitude? Either way, Tameri wondered what made her seem more like a nasty scavenger than something cool and more...mainstream. Tameri never really appreciated the animal in her. Hyenas! Feh.
"So a cat, that's pretty cool. You're lucky." Tameri's face strained a little. "I'm a hyena. A Striped Hyena."

"Yeah. I haven't met anyone else except for you. I've only been living here for a few weeks." The woman paused and Amber understood why she didn't know any other shifters. Well she probably hasn't had so much time to look around. But she wasn't sure, did it really take a few weeks to unpack and get used to a place? Maybe, Amber never moved, she didn't know. "But I never went out much to notice anything... worth noticing." Amber smirked, she was worth noticing huh. Well then... maybe this person was antisocial if she didn't get out much? Maybe she just liked the indoors...
"So a cat, that's pretty cool. You're lucky." Tameri's face scrunched up, "I'm a hyena. A Striped Hyena." Amber nodded, "That's cool! I've never met a hyena shifter... though how am I lucky?" Amber paused in thought, what does a cat have that a hyena doesn't... "Oh!" Amber smacked her forehead lightly. Duh! Seeing a hyena around her would be kind of odd... the teen nodded in understanding, "Well I can't sympathize, but I do know what you mean. I know a lot of shifters who can't shift in daylight either... actually," She added on second thought, "I do have a friend who's practically nocturnal..."
Amber trailed off in thought, but then she came back to her old self, smiling. "Well then I guess it's appropriate for me to be the first shifter to welcome you to Shelpey Alley...? It's not so bad, you'll probably meet a lot more shifters around here too besides myself. You just have to keep an eye out for them." Or at least... let them come to you in Amber's case. She's seen more than her fair share, but new shifters were always interesting. Would Tameri chose to join a guild? Has she even heard of the guilds yet?
((Tis okay, my posts are getting shorter too. >.<))

Tameri was taken aback by what Amber had meant. Can't shift in daylight? Well that wasn't really a big deal for Tameri. As mentioned before, she definitely preferred her human form over her hyena one. Tameri grinned. "Actually, it's not that I can't shift in daylight. I just wanted to be something a little more...socially accepted. Don't get me wrong being a a Hyena can be pretty cool but sometimes I think I would be happier if I was something else. Like a coyote...maybe even a cat." Tameri smiled. She wasn't ashamed of being ashamed.
She nodded when Amber officially welcomed her to Shelpey. "Thanks. I'm actually pretty curious to see what the others are like here. Do you know a lot of shifters Amber? Maybe you could introduce me to some. I need to network." Tameri stuck her hands in the pockets of her jeans. "So you said you knew a lot of shifters who can't shift in the daylight. Those are the more...unconventional animals I'm assuming. What kinds do you know?" By this point Tameri was thoroughly interested in their topic of discussion. She had only hoped she wasn't boring the fourteen-year-old to death.
Tameri tucked her hair behind her ear. For some strange reason she was thrilled and nervous at the same time. Who was she going to meet? What would they be like? She'd tell her family about who she met. She knew she could tell her family, as they were all shifters themselves. Her sisters especially would be quite keen on the idea of a whole town full of shifters. For once in her life, Tameri was kind of glad about her situation as a shifter. Hell, if there were others to share the "pain" with her then life as a shifter must not be that bad after all.

The girl paused to put her hands in her pockets, "So you said you knew a lot of shifters who can't shift in the daylight. Those are the more...unconventional animals I'm assuming. What kinds do you know?" Amber nodded along. "Yeah, I mean they can shift in daylight, but it would be kind of weird to see some of those animals out. So..." Amber's forehead creased as she recalled her comment. "Socially accepted huh? Well that won't be a problem once you know some shifters. It's like a big organization!" She smiled as Amber used her hands animatedly.
"Well not an organization, but you get connections, you know? Birds, dogs, cats, gossip travels really fast with us. Let's see now... I know a lot of shifters I guess. Canines, felines, birds, foxes, amongst others... if you really want to go into specifics wolves, panther, ocelot, crow, fox, red panda, giant panda, sea gulls, umm..." Amber squinted her eyes in thought as she stared off. Soon she gave up and waved her hand in dismissal, "Among others too... Anyway, I could introduce to some of my friends. I can say, they'll be hard to find though..."

Tameri listened intently and she nodded her head when Amber was done speaking. "Okay, that sounds really cool actually. An organization...that's not an organization." She mused aloud. Sounded pretty interesting. Tameri wondered what this quasi-organization was like. Was it like a support group or something? Tameri smirked at the thought. Amber had listed several shifters she'd known. It would be nice to get to know someone like her. Amber proved to be good company and Tameri knew she would be able to find others like herself.
"So do you think I could get in on this organization? At least learn more about it." She shrugged indifferently. Whatever worked for her really. Amber's continued enthusiasm was highly appreciated too. She was making this so easy for Tameri. "Yeah! That'd be cool. Introduce me to your friends." Tameri felt not an ounce of shame for having just asked a fourteen year old girl to meet her friends.
She began to wonder about the organizations Amber had been talking about. Maybe she would end up joining if she liked the people in it. Tameri imagined herself amongst a group of shifters and liked the idea of it. Things would work themselves out and Tameri may come to achieve a peace of mind with her shifting abilities.
ooc- horrendous post x.x sorry. and yeah, we could bring in others to make it more interesting, shake things up a little bit.

((Yeah, but who will join that's active and knows Amber? Possibly DJ, and maybe I could bring in Damien... When Astar and Lore get back maybe Caela and Alex too. So many people, maybe, that'd be a lot of people in one role play though. u.u)) "Okay, that sounds really cool actually. An organization...that's not an organization." Tameri murmured to herself. Well, that wasn't exactly how Amber wanted it to sound. Oh well. She waited patiently, rocking on her heels, as she waited for her to respond. Tameri smirked in thought, thinking to herself. Finally she spoke, "So do you think I could get in on this organization? At least learn more about it." She shrugged, seeming not to mind what it was even about. Amber grinned, maybe she could recruit her into the Thieves. It would be cool to have a hyena on their side... she'd never really seen a real one... "Yeah! That'd be cool. Introduce me to your friends." Tameri whole-heartedly agreed after realizing there would be more shifters. This would take awhile to explain, she wasn't sure if it was safe here though. Amber glanced around, the sun slowly rising into the sky, "Well we should probably go to somewhere more secluded wouldn't you say?" Amber nearly laughed at her thought, "I think we could get back in that tree without noticing. It's not like anyone would bother looking up there, and if they saw us, I doubt they would try and listen in. Most people are like that..." With that, Amber walked back over to the tree, letting Tameri follow at her own pace. Trees were certainly easier to climb when you have thumbs... Amber hooked her hands around a lower branch and hauled herself up and over. She grabbed a branch above and pulled up, so she was now standing. After climbing a little bit higher, still high enough to allow her to jump down without hurting herself though, she called out, "Okay you can come now." Once the girl was in distance to listen where Amber didn't have to yell she explained, choosing her words carefully, "Well when I meant organization I just mean like a big group of shifters. But there are 2, I guess you could say organizations. We call them guilds, but the police and stuff call us gangs. In a way I guess we are, I know some that steal and such, but you know, not all shifters have a home..." Amber trailed off frowning. She had a lot of those kind of friends... She shook off the thought, for now, "The two guilds are the Thieves and the Assassins. I can't really say that the Thieves don't steal and the Assassins don't kill, but it's not always like that, those are... too a point, just the names. Not everyone kills and steals though, it's not like you have to." Amber's face scrunched up, trying to think of what to say, "I'm a bit biased, but if you ask me the Assassins are more strict and uptight while the Thieves are more laid back. Neither are good or bad though..." What else should she say...? ((I'll assume Tameri climbed up... u.u;))
