Caela darkly chuckled and casually waved it off with her hand, "Oh, I knew about that rule. God forbid my mother ever finds out I turn into an animal. She'd take me to the vets to get me wormed, de-flea-ed, and checked for ticks before I could explain." Amber chuckled along with her, relived that her family already knew about her ability. If she were Caela, she probably would be keeping it a secret from her family too. Though she didn't mention a dad. Amber swept some hair from her face and tucked it behind her ear, giving her something to do rather than think about someone's personal life. Don't go there, it's not your business.
Alex quickly added in, "I always thought that we had to tell it to every single new member so that IF they were caught for doing it -though, so far, no one has- they can't use the excuse 'but I didn't know!'" Amber nodded along, it would be best, just in case. What if they hadn't told her and she didn't know? That might have not ended well. As soon as Alex had finished his comment, Amber could feel the floor begin to just slightly vibrate--another tunnel.
The subway train made a rusty screech as it rolled down the tracks. Amber closed her eyes from the bright light that now shone through. She lifted her hands to cup over the ears to drown the sound out. Although her ears were covered, Amber's eye drums could still pick up the roar of the train echoing around the small area the trio stood in. Once Amber couldn't feel the vibrations through the ground, she hesitantly peeked an eye open. Once all seemed okay, she limply dropped her hands at her side. Jeez, that was loud.
After the locomotive left, Alex continued on with his explanation about the guilds as if nothing happened. Amber quietly sighed in the dim light, listening to Alex explain. Amber listen to him quietly for anything she might not even know. It seemed everything he said was correct, though Amber wouldn't really say they were scary or intimidating. She wasn't a very biased person. She didn't really care who was in what guild. Amber was a calm person, if someone wanted to be in the Assassins good for them. Maybe it was just Alex's luck that she ended up in the Theives, or maybe it was hers.
When he was finished with his mini-lecture Caela shifted her weight to the other leg and rubbed her chin in thought, "Hmmm...." After a few silent moments of thought she quietly laughed, "I was never one to like big, intimidating, scary people. I mean look at me." She bent an arm and pretended to show off her muscles, though to admit, she was probably stronger than Amber. Amber wasn't one for muscles anyway, and the girl was older too. "Nothing but skin and bone. They'd probably break me and then what would I tell my mother?
Amber smiled and chuckled at Caela's humor, "Well don't forget your temper. I'm sure you could scare them off with their tails between their legs anyway. You don't need muscles to back that up." It seemed to Amber that Caela had already accepted. She didn't exactly say yes outright, but from her tone it was implied. It probably seemed like Amber was being a suck up, but to the honest truth, Caela really did have a temper. She was confident that she could handle herself, she had this far hadn't she? In the end though, as it was her first time, she would watch Alex handle the situation. There would be plenty more to recruit.

"God forbid my mother ever finds out I turn into an animal. She'd take me to the vets to get me wormed, de-flea-ed and checked for ticks before I could explain." Alex couldn't help but to laugh, thinking of the situation. "At least you wouldn't have to be neutered," he chuckled darkly before deciding he should probably shut up at that point. He snickered to himself before finally calming down and regaining his composure.
Alex watched Caela as she weighed her choices. "Yes, Sherlock?" He asked, lightly mocking her excessive use of thinking sounds. Though he was joking with her, his heart was pounding. Would she decide to join a guild? And most importantly...would it be his? Though they had some kind of unspoken rivalry between them, Alex could easily see that Caela would be a good addition to their team, and really hoped that she would decide on joining the Thieves over the Assassins.
Alex imitated her muscle-flex. "I'm not all that scary and imposing, either. So I'll take it that you wouldn't be talking about me." Meaning that she thought the Assassins were the ones she was worried about, meaning that the Thieves would be her number one choice, meaning that she probably just said that she'd join the Thieves, meaning that he had successfully recruited another member.
He liked his thought pattern.
"Well don't forget your temper. I'm sure you could scare them off with their tails between their legs anyway. You don't need muscles to back that up."
"That's a pretty valid point," the fox shifter agreed, casting Caela a coy smile.

((Backtracking a bit to get all the actions...))
Alex chuckled without humor, "At least you wouldn't have to be neutered..." Amber shrunk back as if hit, "Oh I would feel so bad for you Alex and unfortunately if worse came to worse, I wouldn't be able to help you..." That was... not a pretty thought. Caela's voice was tight, "And that is why I'm glad I'm a woman sometimes." Amber's lip twitched. High schoolers were weird...
Alex flexed lightly after Caela. "I'm not all that scary and imposing, either. So I'll take it that you wouldn't be talking about me." Amber rolled her eyes at him and snickered, glancing away. Weird. Caela smirked at him, "Oh no, quite right. You're the scrawniest boy I've seen in a long while. However, your rather biting sarcasm and sharp-as-a-blunt-knife wits make up for that." Amber laughed, "I'm sure his wits are a tiny bit sharper than that, otherwise we'd all be dead."
Amber lightly sighed at the conversation. "That's a pretty valid point," Alex smirked and nodded lightly at her comment. Amber nodded in agreement to her own statement, odd, but it felt right anyway. At Amber's comment Caela blinked and pointed to herself in mock confusion, "Am I really so bad." She chuckled, her face screwed up in an odd manor until she smiled like the devil herself.
Amber rolled her eyes, it was slightly expected. "I hope that's not a lasting first impression on the pair of you. I'm not really that terrible all the time." She stated and winked, finally breaking out into a stretch. Amber humorously smiled, "I'm sure it'll take much more than that to scare us away..." A lot more.
((My muse is like my conscious, the voice in my head. I scare the voices in my head...))

OOC|| Long time no see?
BIC|| The fox-shifter watched the exchanges go back and forth. "Actually, yes Caela, you're a pretty scary person. Just thought I'd let you know." This bantering between him and the female shifter was quite fun, but sometimes he wondered if it went too far. Hopefully she was still taking it in good humor.
Alex, however, grew tired with the remarks that Caela was aiming at him. It seemed that there actually was a limit to how many times Alex could counter her. Eventually he just threw up his hands in defeat. "Okay, okay, I get it!" He laughed. "We can stop poking fun at my nonexistent wits and my equally nonexistent muscles." He shot Caela a glare, though it shone with good humor.
"Now that we've had our fill of Make-Fun-Of-Alex-Time, I say that Caela make a decision. It'd always be great for the Thieves to have a new member. Personally, I think that she'd make a great addition to the group. No matter how hard she is to put up with on a daily basis," he smiled pleasantly. "Oh! And don't forget; if you decide not to join, we'll have to kill you. You now know too much. No pressure."

Amber nonchalantly rose onto her toes, locked her fingers securely behind her back, and stood tall with a loosening stretch, one she seemed to need. Really! What a cramped space this was. Well, sure it was big and spacious, but it was a subway tunnel. The dull light teetered in its life and flickered, just for a moment before it flashed back on, no time passing. Amber unconsciously scowled as she ignored the older teen's bickering, this certainly wasn't the place to talk about these things.
Yet who was she to voice this? Oh wait, second in command now, right. Still, she was more in tuned with purposes rather than places, as with that she also just wasn't the kind to socialize too much with older teenagers--however well she knew them. In a way though, she had no choice when it came to the gang. She had made a commitment after all... besides, Alex truly wasn't that bad. "--on't forget; if you decide not to join, we'll have to kill you. You now know too much. No pressure." His light voice was laced with innocence. Eh, maybe not.
Amber tilted her head casually at the bickering students and shook her head in exasperation as she was sure they weren't really paying attention to her own actions. She couldn't blame them though. Amber herself had had a lot of... odd conversations with her own friends. Amber's honey colored eyes watched their supposed new member as she haughtily raised an eyebrow, "Oh, oh. No pressure indeed." Amber rolled her eyes at the underlying oh-so-obvious sarcasm, "Well, it's a good thing that I wasn't about to say no on joining the Thieves, isn't it?"
A mischievous smirk spread across her face, "After all... I'd just hate to embarrass the both of you when you failed to catch me, never mind kill me." She winked in good humor, though her words were serious. Amber smiled lightly, slightly awkward as she folded her hands across her chest, serious eh? Who said they were ever serious, they were pretty sure she had been there. Even so, Caela couldn't have heard their conversation from where she had been, especially with a bird's hearing. "Who said we were ever trying to catch you? We're not evil people, we don't harm innocent souls." Yeah, innocent.
OOC: Eh, not as long as I'd like it to be, but with absolutely ZERO muse, I'd say it's decent.

Alex looked sideways at Amber, a small smirk lining his face. "Who said we were ever trying to catch you? We're not evil people, we don't harm innocent souls."
"Amber," he mock-hissed, casting Caela a not-so-furtive glance. "You DID hide the bodies like I told you to, right?" He allowed himself a laugh at his own joke, then reigned in his humor and settled the mood. Crossing his arms, Alex took a comfortably strong stance.
"But in all seriousness, I need a definite answer, Caela. Just this once, no double-meaning jokes or insults." He took a long finger and pointed downwards, toward the grimy floor that they stood on. "This right here is serious business. Very serious indeed. And serious business calls for serious answers."
The fox-shifter successfully kept a straight face, looking Caela in the eye as if to prove his point. It was nice to know that at least ONCE in a while, he could be matter-of-fact.

Alex listened with a raised eyebrow as Caela mentioned their first real interaction, which hadn't gone so well for the male. Ending up in the bathroom in his fox form with socks and boxers, in front of Caela no less, was death by humiliation. In an attempt to find some form of light-hearted humor to make out of this situation, Alex pointed to Caela with a wry smile on his face. "Ah, but you said that you think of me. That, right there, Miss Caela, is a compliment to me. I'm very glad that I am of such great importance to you that you think about me during some of your free time. I feel most honored." With this, Alex swept into a low bow, looking up at Caela through the bangs that now fell across his face. His green eyes sparkled with humor. Embarrassing situation lightened.
After a few more exchanges, Caela finally got around to giving her honest answer. Though it HAD been obvious the first time, as the girl was keen on pointing out through the use of her ever-present sarcasm, Alex had wanted a definite answer that he would be able to quote her on. Now that she had responded straightforward to him, wits aside, he felt a bit relieved that he knew she was now a reliable member of the Thieves. A sense of pride took him, and he smiled at Caela in a way that was devoid of his own usual witty sarcasm.
"Welcome to the team, Caela," Alex said, grinning to their newest recruit. "You're now an official Thief. Initiations start tomorrow night," he added, chuckling in Amber's direction under his breath.

Caela boredly moved her eyes to Amber, to which she, unblinking, stared back. What, was this a staring contest now or something? Surely there were other ways to prove... whatever she was trying to prove, if anything at all. Her eyebrows rose, but all she said was, "Never thought you were." Of course there was always something more. "Besides, even if you were, I wouldn't have been able to think it. For example, when I think of Alex. I first think of a fox in boxer shorts before anything else." Amber chuckled and rolled her eyes, that image would never leave her mind. Unfortunately for Alex, she'd never let him live it down. "It's hard to think a fox in underwear can be evil."[/s]
Not to be teetered he shot back with a wiry smile, "Ah, but you said that you think of me. That, right there, Miss Caela, is a compliment to me. I'm very glad that I am of such great importance to you that you think about me during some of your free time. I feel most honored." He bent down in a low bow, emerald eyes sparkling with humor. Amber was sure she chose the right guild.
Alex's eyes gleamed mischievously and turned to Amber, an evil smirk lining his features. "Amber." Amber playfully rolled her eyes and cast him a glance. Sometimes, she couldn't believe he was older than her. "You did hide the bodies like I told you to, right?" Exasperated, Amber lightly slapped him on the arm as if he were accusing her. "Of course I did Alex, I'm not that forgetful. In fact, if you'd like to see just to make sure..." She grinned at the end, her humorous side getting the better of her. Soon as it lasted though, the two were back to their usual seriousness. Alex may have been laughing, but he sure was a hot head, business was business. At least this thought comforted Amber that he knew what he was doing. Well, half the time at least.
"But in all seriousness, I need a definite answer, Caela. Just this once, no double-meaning jokes or insults. This right here is serious business. Very serious indeed. And serious business calls for serious answers." His face was nearly solemn, straight-faced and almost dark too. Ah, back to his usual self, kind of. He certainly had reason to, why not? The guild business was serious. They needed a straight answer. Anything else and it would be possible for a double-cross or a spy, and they certainly did not want that on their hands. It was hard enough keeping track of all the thieves, assassins, and unallianced shifters.
Recently the random shifters had been popping up more than usual. It was an odd occurrence, something like this hadn't happened like this since the beginning of the guilds themselves. It was a hard enough job to know who was in what alliance, or if they were spies. Even along those lines, it was greatly important to recognize a shifter's markings and breed. There were many animals in the world, but even so, only a handful of them could discretely live in the city well enough to hide. Fortunately that meant almost no aquatic creatures, there were enough of them in the world. It was definitely hard work.
Caela begrudgingly set her hands on her hips in that petty old fashion, "Do I really need to say yes again. I mean I understand I had slipped a joke in there at the time, but really, I can give a true answer while doing that." She ended with her tongue sticking out at Alex in a childish manner, yet somehow retaining her seriousness. Amber herself was more of a calm, caring person--not too much for jokes, but this girl definitely seemed like someone she could get along with in a serious situation. For Amber at least, that's all that really mattered. "However, yes, yes, and yes." Pause. "Did I mention yes?" Amber lightly smiled, "Well I'm glad we stand on the same level."
Alex seemed to straighten up, finally getting the answer he wanted, "Welcome to the team, Caela." He grinned across the tunnel to her, "You're not an official Thief. Initiations start tomorrow night." He chuckled and shot the last bit to Amber. She nodded and heartily welcomed Caela, "Well now that wasn't too hard was it? But now that it's official, welcome to The Thieves, where nothing is ever actually stolen." Lie. What? She couldn't have her own non-funny sense of humor? It was an inward comment... well, it wasn't actually funny at all. Maybe she just felt the need to say something as she wasn't exactly sure what to do now... what was she to do now?
