Danny watched in silence as she gave her friend a meal, then nodded when she offered a sanctuary. "Thank you," he muttered, smile thin and superficial. He quickly retreated to the place Amber idicated. The noise from the restaurant was much quieter over here, and Danny quickly calmed down. The teen then looked back at the main area of the building, watching the general activity. How could everyone be so happy with each other? Why were they so happy? It was times like this that brought his greatest questions to mind. He strived to know why exactly people formed bonds. Relationships. Whatever you wanted to call them. And for some reason, he wanted to be apart of it.
Sighing, Danny turned back around and smiled to himself. He would wait until Amber gave him directions. He absolutely refused to be near all those strangers by himself.
((Gawd, sorry this took so long. TT_TT))

Amber quietly watched Danny pace towards the back rooms to wait for her. Sighing, she turned around and patiently waited for Ink to finish his snack. “You’re lucky I feed you this stuff. Before you know it you’ll get fat.” She whispered loud enough for only Ink to hear. Although Ink couldn’t understand her, she was pretty sure he’d tell “Amber” later. I really should think of a name to go by in different forms. When he was finally finished, he licked his muzzle a few times trying to get the left over taste, and sat down to watch her. Amber picked up the can and the lid, and set them aside for someone to recycle it later.
Not wanting Danny to wait for her anymore, she hauled Ink from his relaxing spot and started a light jog where Danny disappeared to. As she rounded the corner, her feet slid on the slick wood and stopped just in time to not to run into her new companion. “Sorry. This way.” She flipped the strand of hair to the side out of the way of her eyes and bobbed her head down the hall. It was almost the same as the main dining area, but only a few doors lead down here. As she sauntered down the corridor, her mind recited which each door led to. Restrooms. Kitchen. Closet. Dad’s office. My room. It wasn’t really her room, but more like a place to hang out while the restaurant was open. She turned the knob and opened it.
Although the family restaurant was popular, she never bothered to lock the door. One of the animals would tell me about it for sure. When the door was all the way open, she glanced around to make sure her dad didn’t move anything. A small coffee table sat in the back right corner surrounded by a midnight blue two-seat couch with another chair to the other side against the wall. One window was plastered against the back wall above the couch, while the last one shown the other office on the right side. A white fan similar to the ones in the main room hung in the middle of the ceiling. Under the TV, a PSP sat with a few wires connected for controllers and a guitar for Guitar Hero. Against the wall to the left was a black flat-screen hanging in the middle of the wall. To the right was a small nightstand with a normal-quality stereo system with a shelf full of CD’s on the left. On the left was two shelves, one completely full, of books both old and new. “Well…” Amber stuttered, trying to explain the TV, “It’s not exactly an office. Just a place to hang out while the restaurant is open.” She carefully let Ink jump onto the ground, and trot towards the chair he claimed awhile back.
((That was a lot to explain. By the way, I didn't put this, but the walls are light sky blue with the ceiling being white, with a black circular felt-like carpet in the middle.))

As soon as Danny had stepped into the room, his eyes did a quick scan for anything unusual. Nothing really stood out; the room was fine. You really should learn to trust Amber. She's your friend now. "It looks like a nice place to chill," he said coolly, the smile on his face neutral. Did I really just say the word 'chill'? How idiotic. Why did people use 'chill', anyway? The only 'chilling' he could think of that referred to people was the way they chilled dead bodies- He forced his mind to stay in the present. No use thinking about the other stuff now. "So..." he said offhandedly. He spied the books in the corner, but that probably wasn't his friend had in mind.
((Bleh, had to go eat dinner. Sorry. OTL ))

Amber softly pushed the door so it just barely left a crack. Don’t want him to get uncomfortable now. Amber cracked a small smile as he complimented the place. “Yeah, I don’t often stay here, but it’s at least relaxing.” As he closely examined the room, Amber walked over and dropped herself on the couch just watching him. “So…” he absentmindedly muttered.
Obviously he wasn’t as relaxed as Amber was. Well obviously, he kind of just met me. Striking up a conversation, she mimicked him, “So…” But Amber was sure he would get a little annoyed, so continued after a good-humored pause, “Anything that you want to do until my butt of a parent finds us and finally decides to feed us or would you rather just go back to the kitchen and get us something to eat?” Offhandedly she thought, yeah, let him choose.

Danny suddenly smiled when Amber mimicked him, holding in slight laughter. It was strangely funny, although it usually just annoyed him. She hopefully wouldn't do it again.
As Amber mentioned food, Danny once more remembered that he should be hungry. "Oh! I almost forgot," he said, smiling at her. "I apologize. I'll consent to either, m'lady." Once again, he bowed with a flourish. After all, it is YOU who lives here. It's out of place for a guest to try to command the situation. The idea of it just made him smirk.

Amber amusingly watched Danny smile knowing she had won the battle, but also knew she might not be so lucky next time. Oh well. Sighing, she annoyingly decided, “You are the guest, but if you say so.” She banged her heels against the bottom of the couch to get her flip-flops to slide off and pulled up her legs into an Indian cross. She put one elbow on each knee, crossed her hands under her chin, and pretended to think. “Hmm…” she absentmindedly muttered.
Not even after 10 seconds passed by, she hopped up and teasingly formed a large grin and commanded, “Ok. I know what to do! We shall go to the kitchen, grab some food, and raid my dad’s office so that way he’ll know we’re here.” Although Amber was kidding, she laughed anyway. Note to self: “Accidentally” spill sauce on Dad’s chair. Check. Now to get to it. Not even waiting for Danny, she humorously bounced passed him and walked out towards the way they came.

Danny watched as Amber settled on the couch, then almost immediately followed her after she swept right past him. Following her through their previous path (he became defensive as soon as they passed the people) and entered the kitchen.
Danny gave the room a rather skeptical look, then turned to Amber. "I have absolutely no idea where anything is," he said matter-of-factly. Then, his grin turned teasing. "Looks like I'll have to follow you around."

As soon as she walked into the kitchen, Danny glanced around and sure enough, stated that he would follow her. Laughing at his ignorance, she smiled and assured him, “Don’t worry we don’t have to go anywhere. Like I said, my family owns this restaurant. I know everyone here and they know me. Anyway aside from the point, do you have anything specific in mind that you’re just absolutely craving for?” Amber was sure Danny knew she was teasing him, but it was an innocent joke, and she was a funny person. They came naturally.
((You should be frightened. That's 2 one-paragraph replies! *le gasp*))

"No..." he said distantly, smile distant. He was obviously thinking about something, but why and of what were mysteries. Inside his head, he was going through very specific memories; the memories of when he killed someone. Very strange to be thinking about in a kitchen with a new friend, but it was Amber that had brought the memories to the surface. Why did I kill him...? Oh, that's right, the teen thoughts, remembering when he took the life of his best friend at the time. He hurt her, and then lied about...I couldn't forgive him for that... It was then Danny realized Amber was still there. "Oh dear, I am so very sorry!" he said, smile wide and apologetic. "It seems I'm zoning out much too often as of late. You have my sincerest apologies." His speech was very formal and polite, oddly enough. "I swear, I'll pay attention this time." He smiled playfully.

Amber stared at Danny as he vaguely replied. While Amber was waiting for him to finish what was going through his mind, she called up Jason. “Hey Jace!” When a tall young adult, about 5 foot 9 turned around, she happily waved at him. Warmly smiling, he gestured back. She motioned him to come closer so she didn’t have to yell across the heated room. When he was close enough, she put her arms around him and hugged him and he hugged back like two old friends.
Jason’s body was lean, but you could still see the muscle underneath. His black hair curled to the sides indicating the countless times he wore his favorite hat, a black hate with a soaring bald eagle on the front. Currently though, he had long black pants with a white short-sleeved button-down shirt with a chef’s apron over it. His eyes were wide with cloudy blue irises, with an oval shaped-head. Born and raised in Texas, his thick Texas accent always seemed to brighten the atmosphere.
“Amber.” He nodded and glanced behind her to see a slightly scarred lean boy just a few years younger than himself. “Hi there, nice to meetcha’. The name’s Jason, but you can call me Jace…” after a second thought he added, “If ya’d like.” He smiled and offered to shake hands with the newcomer.
