[scrolly:h(333),w(262),sy] "My attitude speaks nothing of me, Daniel," Alex snarled, trying to resist the urge to punch this guy in the face. The sudden flare of anger subsided to a mere simmer as Alex considered the option of completing a task. He watched Danny's cool face as the other teen subtly mocked him.
"Fine. I'll accept your little challenge. If running an errand for you is what you want me to do to prove myself, I will." According to Alex's logic, the next step in this challenge was to stomp angrily down the decorated spiral staircase that was in the center of the adorned circle. He whisked past Danny and stalked down each step until he reached the bottom, pouting with his arms crossed over his chest as he waited for his guide.

As the annoyed teen descended, the room below came into view. The spiral staircase ended in a room far brighter than the previous, with shiny orange-beige floors and high arching windows that let sunlight spill in from a crisp blue sky. While the same decor mostly prevailed - the arches over the windows were intricately detailed, as were the bright, white walls - the staircase behind Alex miraculously turned white; regardless, the material used was as pure and fine as the previous dark wood. Another spiral staircase of the same construction looped down the opposite way of the one at the foot of which Alex was standing, and in the middle was something quite distressing.
Between them was a cold, pitch black pit, a perfect circle with no form of railing. However, a white square platform - fitting curiously well, for something with the wrong shape - seemed to be suspended over it, just barely leaving room for the shadows below to be visible. It exuded a strange air of wonder, and passing students turned to study it on occasion.
"That's the path to the endless staircase, but it takes a long time to get there," said a voice beside Alex. It then let out a tinkling laugh -- decidedly female.

[scrolly:h(333),w(262),sy] Alex couldn't help but marvel at his surroundings, letting his wide eyes drift over every aspect of the new room. It resembled the room he'd just come from, but the teenager's attention was drawn to the center, where a large gaping abyss extended down into the floor, mostly covered by a white platform that didn't seem to fit, and yet did. He took a hesitant step towards the sight before a voice piped up beside him with a light laugh. "That's the path to the endless staircase, but it takes a long time to get there,"
Alex turned and noticed his newest companion, a girl a little older than he was, with long, bright pink hair. She had a friendly face and seemed very helpful, supported by the fact that she piped up with information about the 'endless staircase' that sat before them. Alex blinked at her.
"Takes a long time to get to the staircase itself, or to descend?" He asked, confused. He glanced around, trying to find Danny, but as far as he could tell the other male wasn't anywhere to be seen. Alex felt a little twinge of sadness but shrugged it off.
