This is important, guys, so please read through it. It's almost like an agreement of sorts, if you will. Make of it what you want but I've discussed this with both Toki and Rena and it's been agreed that something like this is a little bit necessary if Shelpey is to survive and not reach the pitiful state it was in only last month.
With regards to activity in roleplays:
- One post in each thread every two weeks. You guys all ended up moaning that one week wasn't enough time for you to reply to all of your threads and in the end, nobody followed this rule anyway. Which was disappointing. So it's been changed slightly. You now have two weeks to respond to every thread you enter. You aren't going to be PMed constant reminders either. See below.
- Once your two weeks have passed and if you have not replied, your thread will be immediately moved into archives. You will be PMed with a notification of course by the staff member moving your thread, but we're not going to warn you in advance. We aren't going to warn the other roleplayers in that thread either, it's just going to be moved and locked so you can't respond.
- You can request to have a thread made active if it has been moved, but you can only do this once. We are putting our trust in you, and the people you roleplay with are also putting their trust in you
If you are not? Your thread is moved and a note will be made never to re-open that thread. If your thread is archived twice for your inactivity it is never being opened again, regardless of who else was roleplaying in it and whether they were active. You let down yourself and those you roleplay with.

Really, guys, I understand that life can get hectic and busy, but one post in a thread you join is not much to ask for and it never was. Roleplaying is fun, but it's not just about you. You need to be considerate and remember the other people you are roleplaying with. If you don't want to respond once every two weeks to a roleplay? Don't roleplay. Go and write your own personal story where people aren't kept waiting if you don't respond.
Now I know this must seem harsh, and I am already predicting some of you guys are going to complain. But I've passed this by Toki, and Rena, and we agree something like this is necessary. If you're going to keep characters and if you're going to roleplay, you are agreeing to be active. You are agreeing to these terms and these conditions, and you are accepting the consequences that will come about if you break your end of the bargain. It might be harsh, but if you didn't notice, we lost a lot of members due to people's inability to post in a decent amount of time. And that led to Shelpey coming close to dead.
If you feel like we're still asking too much of you for a response once every two weeks, then there's little else you can do but retire all your characters and not roleplay here. I really am sorry guys but we can't let people roleplay here if they will only respond on their terms and not consider the other people they keep waiting.
This is also being put in place so the people who do want to be active can be active and take part in active threads. The lack of official plots here on Shelpey was partly the fault of staff, but also partly the fault of inactive members who just never ever responded.
So that's the law, guys. You don't have to be on Shelpey to roleplay. I'm hoping that we can expand our OoC discussion areas so that we have more places to chat outside of roleplay. Those who don't want to roleplay can hang about there.
But those of you keeping characters? Those of you who do want to roleplay? This is what you are agreeing to. Because it's not fair on all the active people you may roleplay with if you just think you can flunk off and reply once a month regardless of the people you are in a roleplay with.
